CAVA

Online orders are always incorrect but accurate when ordered in-person. It’s unfortunate that this is how CAVA treats customers who pay $30+ per bowl (once you tack on delivery fees and tips). People come to CAVA for a custom order that serves as a healthier, fast food option. If someone is going out of their way to pay extra for a custom order + delivery fees it means they’re in a pinch and have likely not had time to eat. Please do better by your patrons by honoring the online order in the same way you would if we were ordering in-person. It’s a bummer to feel bait and switched. This is what my half full bowl looked like upon receipt. A salad bowl with a minimal amount of greens (and the incorrect greens).

Truly love this location! Food is fresh, staff are kind and super efficient! 5 stars all around. Dislike going to other locations and other dc chains. Highly recommend

Antonio is so amazing and jokes with his customers. Customer service at its finest. The food is always well-stocked, and the lines run smoothly. Love how he always checks to see if the food is stocked. The tables are always clean for us to sit down, and what can I say, the food is cooked to a T, especially the lentils, because they're overcooked at other locations. I come here to this location because it's consistent and I love the environment, my healthy go-to.

I come here a lot (say 3x per week) and I’ve always had a great experience. The staff are friendly, the restaurant is clean, and I love the food. Great location, couldn’t recommend more!

Food was fresh and tasty, service was really fast and the workers were very friendly. The restaurant itself wasn’t as pristine as other cava locations I’ve been to, but was still clean and nice.

I always come to this cava and everyone is always so nice. My order comes out perfect the staff isn’t amazing and they always treat their customers above and beyond. I’ve had the pleasure to meet their manager amazing person. The people who work on the line are phenomenal people keep doing what you guys are doing.

Herbelinda gave me great customer service. I’m here about 2-3 times a week and I’m always greeted with a smile and speedy service. On top of the food being delicious this is why I come to 523 H st NE over other locations. Not saying there’s an issue with the other ones

I absolutely LOVE cava! The staff here is hit or miss but I get the feeling it's not their fault! Sometimes I can tell they're short staffed and it gets busy but they always handle it with grace. I usually order from Uber eats and they are usually ON POINT with my order! I love this location. It's usually clean and never too much going on. They're usually always stocked and have everything on the menu available. I haven't had the chance to dine in yet but I'm sure it'd be a chill experience. Definitely going back! Definitely ordering from UberEats again as well lol!!

Came to visit my daughter who lives minutes away from the locations. When you come in your greeted by the entire staff as you walk down to get all your ingredients. The entire bowl is fresh, the rice was perfect, the lettuce fresh, the corn was so delicious. I got the regular falafel. The gentleman offered a piece of the spicy Mc he said it's good if you like to try. I love when you get this type of service. I always ask employees what's their favorite because I know they know the best. I finished my salad with some fresh avocado. I was offered dressing and I asked to put on the side. For a drink I got the pineapple apple mint I literally wanted to stand next to the machine so that I can refill over and over Ha Ha Ha, this drink is addicting. There lots of seating space here, place is clean and smells clean. If your in the area make sure to stop by and taste this amazing location, if your visiting and never had Cava before make sure to try it out you'll be addicted. 5 stars to the entire staff here!!

The salads were delicious but the price??? Why did I pay $40 for two salads and drinks? No!

Tried this restaurant again for dinner. The food was good, particularly the rices, greens and humus. I was somewhat disappointed that the staff was not as friendly and helpful. They were not busy but I felt they wanted to hurry you through the line and many of the items were not labeled so I had a hard time deciding what to pick. Price was ok but I thought it was higher that when I visited before for the portions you received.

The restaurant is great. The only issue that i have is every time I order from here on H street location from uber eats . They always leave off my drink. Please make sure that your looking at the order really good.

Healthy, hardy bowls and if you add the garlic dressing it's super flavorful! I never sit and eat. Always take out/deliver. I usually create my own bowl: half mixed greens half blackened lentils, pickled onions, onions and tomatoes, tzakiki saice (2 servings) and hummus (classic, 1 serving) with the garlic sauce (so good!) and avocado. I also do half falafel and half chicken. Sometimes I order one of these custom bowls with avocado and second one without, so I can eat the second one the next day. Pop it in the fridge and still good early the next day. This location (and most locations) are clean, fast and friendly! My custom bowls come out to about $17 each. On the expense side as far as quick food but healthy wholesome ingredients!! I am a fan of cava!

Nom nom. It's pretty good. And pretty hearty. I enjoy the build your own option. And the ability to just go crazy with sauces and other things I enjoy. For the price, it's a pretty good deal. Service has always been good. They always get my order right. And then it's tasty too. Can you really ask for more than that?

We had some fried chicken for lunch and desperately needed to eat a vegetable. We decided to get cava and it was just the refreshing dinner we needed! We got two bowls with the honey chicken and lamb meatball and both were delicious. I don't usually like lentils but the ones in our bowl were pretty good. All the vegetables were fresh and refreshing! We got the tzatziki sauce, red pepper, and my favorite-the eggplant! Everything was good, I only wish there was more chicken in my bowl. The chicken is cut up pretty small and it didn't feel like there was a lot of my bowl. We were looking for a life dinner and cava fit the bill. We will definitely be returning!

I've been a regular at Cava on H St in DC for a while now, and my experiences have been a bit of a rollercoaster, which lands them at a solid four stars. Let's talk service first. On some days, you'll get treated like royalty by the friendliest staff who seem to genuinely love what they do. On others, you might encounter someone who's had a bad day(s), and it reflects in their service. It's a mixed bag, but when it's good, it's top-notch. Now, the portion sizes are like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna get. Sometimes, it feels like they're being extra generous, and other times, it's a bit on the modest side. A bit more consistency here would be appreciated. When it comes to ordering, I've had better luck going in and ordering in person rather than doing pick up. It seems to be faster and more accurate that way. But here's the clincher - the food. It's always *expletive* delicious. Seriously, I keep coming back for the flavors and the quality. Despite the occasional hiccups, Cava on H St consistently delivers on taste, and that's what keeps me hooked. So, four stars it is, because when the food's this good, you can forgive a few bumps along the way.

Excellent staff and service from Flor and her whole team. Every item is fresh and always stocked. Cleanest location in the district. One of best "healthy" fast casual options for lunch or a quick dinner.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! I arrived in CAVA on H street Friday April 5th @ 2:40pm and waited in line for a bit which was pretty crazy because there was no one to greet me a lady with a pony tail came and literally looked at me and then proceeded ask to help the person behind me which I thought was odd the person behind me said pointed at me and said "he's first" the lady then proceeded to act as if she had an attitude I did nothing to her at all I don't know if she was having a bad day or not but her actions DEFINITELY RUINED MINE I was disgusted with the attitude and service

We go to Cava more often than I'd like to admit. I like that I can make different variations of the same bowl and the food is always fresh. My biggest complaint about this location is the variability in what I get. Sometimes the bowl is full, sometimes it's very not full, sometimes in between. Toppings are also always in different quantities. Seems like it's really dependent on who's making your bowl what you get. Regardless, Cava is a relatively inexpensive fast casual option for a healthy meal.

UPDATE: I talked to the person a day later and they offered to make it right. I really appreciate that and will change my rating from 1 to 5. I have to be up late and was starving so I ordered from here online. I called and spoke to a man who assured me they would seal the bag for me. When I got the package it was wide open with no sign it was ever sealed. I don't eat food that is delivered without a tamper resistant seal so this is a waste. This is one of my favorite places normally. Very disappointed.

Love this spot! I know it's everywhere now; great concept and delicious ingredients. Highly recommend it and will be back! Lots of delish proteins and toppings; definitely flavorful! This bowl spot beats a lot of ones I've visited. There is one in winter park I'll visit soon!

Just expect for you not to be acknowledged when you walk in. It's normally very friendly, but not so busy they don't look you in your eyes and it's not warm anymore but the food is so good.

This location is perpetually understaffed -- and the people who do work here are just trying their best. I hope CAVA corporate pays their employees well and works to pay prospects well, too; its current employees deserve better.

WOW! What a treat! I had a question about the ingredients and the manager, Antonio, answered with clarity and outstanding customer service. He showed genuine pride in the quality of the food, and I can see why. The lamb meatballs are made IN HOUSE and are delicious. The veggies are fresh, and the spice and flavor combinations were excellent. The braised lamb was tender. With many other choices in restaurants, I even went back the next night for more. I wish we had one of these back home--I'd be a regular customer!

The service was absolutely horrible today around 1:30pm. The workers are disrespectful, no enthusiasm, lazy, not giving proper responses to questions regarding the food. Terrible attitude. I will never be back. The tables outside were dirty, couldn't eat outside, just horrible.

CAVA is showing the country that DC is more than politics. It's also a city full of entrepreneurs who sometimes get lucky and great a successful brand. CAVA is the "Chipotle of Mediterranean food." Same concept, but instead of barbacoa, they serve lamb meatballs. Pico de gallo is replaced by red pepper hummus. Hooked yet? This location is the first CAVA in NE DC (not counting the small shop in Union Station) located on the "yuppy" side (if you don't believe me, Whole Foods Market and WeWork are across the street...can't get more yuppy than that) of H Street NE closest to Union Station. It's on the corner of H and 6th St NE and a medium sized shop. There are enough tables and good for groups. You order at the front and can select a suggested bowl or make your own. To get it slightly more healthy, I get the half grain (brown rice) and half green (arugula) bowl. You pick your three sauces (red pepper hummus all the way), your meat (beef meatballs), and all the toppings you like. The finish with a dressing. If you don't give it to you, ask for their warm pita to go with it. Select your drink (craft soda, fresh juices, or bottled water and/or Spindrift). Pay and you're out of there! Pro-tip: They have a really good app full of rewards. Download it for free and use it if you're addicted to CAVA after one go.

Amazing Mediterranean bowl and would definitely come back when I am craving a healthy and tasty meal. Honey chicken was reccommended to me by my friend and it was bomb. Reccommend the spicy harissa and the dill sauce!

10/10 for our group of 40 at 1pm! got us in and out with great service and a smile! a well run operation, clean store, and a delicious lunch!

Yesssss there's a CAVA by me!!! Can we just ponder on that for a little? And the service is AMAZING. Everyone is so nice and welcoming, I really enjoyed how talkative the staff was. The restaurant is spacious, and well lit. For those that haven't been here, it's pretty much like a chipotle except Mediterranean food...flavorful, tasty Mediterranean food. You can make rice bowls, pitas, or salads. It can be a little overwhelming just because there's a lot of choices to choose from, but they have names of all the dips and proteins next to the actual item. You can also taste anything in there, which is nice! I really like the spicy meatballs and braised lamb! I also mix my rice and salad. I definitely can't wait to come back!!

DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM ON DOORDASH YOU WILL PAY FOR FOOD AND GET HALF OF IT. Didn't receive my drink or dressing but I guess I'm just out my money door dash doesn't wanna be held accountable and cava wants me to come in to get my food.

Don't even bothering ordering a free side of pita with your salad through their app. There are TWO ways to order Pita with a salad on their app. One way insures you get it the pita as a free side. The other insures you don't get the pita as a free side. Dozens of orders through the app and I can assure you that their app is FLAWED. Run your own tests using each of the two methods to add a free pita bread as a side to a salad. Oh, sure, they'll give you a credit and another credit and another credit and another credit for the same repeated mistake, but they never fix the problem. You would think they would understand that this is costing them money if not customers. And if it's not the app, it's bad service which is perhaps even worse. Love the place. Hate the fact that NO ONE there seems to see the big picture to fix this.

Worst place I have ever ordered from. ordered a meal to be delivered. I waited for almost an hour and I received no call or message to say it had been delivered. I finally went online to check and it said it had been delivered. I searched everywhere for the food spent my whole lunch break looking for this "supposed" deliver. when I called back I was told they can't get a hold of the driver and will refund my money in 7-10 business days. No option for redelivery or anything!!!! Avoid this unprofessional place as much as you can. After reading all the other reviews now I see I am not the only one with such terrible experience!!

Constantly mess up my order for online orders. They leave out main ingredients, put dressing on the food when asked for on the side, drench the meal in dressing. The worst.

This was the first Cava i have been to that did not give me rude service when asking for extra food that i would pay for. I loved each team member (especially Valarie/Valara)and their attitudes. The food was fresh.

This location is nice, although it does lack indoor seating. The outdoor space is great and the food is even better. I love the Rightrice Bowl

Came in around 2:30pm on a weekday and this place was pretty empty (past the lunch rush) which was perfect for me. This location is right along H street and super accessible by foo, on the trolley, or streets parking nearby. The location is decoration is very minimalistic so it looks super spacious and clean. The staff were professional and helpful. No complaints. As always the food was fresh and flavorful. I ordered the make your own salad bowl with arugula, red pepper hummus, regular hummus, Tzatziki sauce, chicken, Greek cucumbers and tomato toppings, and feta cheese. I also got pita bread on the side along with spicy lime tahini on the side. I would recommend asking to taste the dressings or to order gel on the side if you haven't had hem before. I didn't like mine so I'm happy I didn't have them put it all over my food.

1/18: Updating review to 5 stars. Customer service reached out to me and rectified the issue. We went back last weekend and the portions were adequate, the service was great and the food was delicious. We'll be back! First time to this location. Ordered online to pickup. The experience was easy and food was ready when we arrived. The food was still delicious, but unfortunately, the portions were about half the normal size. I should have checked the bag before leaving the cafe. Rookie mistake.

The only knowledge I've had of CAVA is there wonderful hummus I have consumed in the past. So when I spotted there restaurant across the street from another place I was in, I knew I had to go. The initial vibe is very calming and I like how you can customize everything. I had a bowl with chicken as my protein and it was amazing. This location is very clean and the staff was very helpful with explaining the process. I like the choice of all there healthy juice selection! The beet lemonade was amazing! I will definitely be back to try some other things later.

Don't recommend ordering delivery on the app from here. We placed an order directly on their app and it never showed - driver said we somehow placed an order at a location that doesn't exist. This was after 4 drivers cancelled on us and speaking to support multiple times saying the order was its way.

This location is great! The staff was so pleasant and most helpful. The food was fresh and delicious, just as I've come to expect from Cava. I'll definitely return when I'm in the area.

The Chipotle of Mediterranean food (that is, not authentic but still good)! I've been to a few of these Mediterranean-style places and this has been my favorite. I ordered a chicken bowl with half splendidgreens mix and saffron rice. I also had the feta, eggplant, and red pepper hummus dips. The feta is interesting in a good way. It grew on me the more I ate it. The eggplant was solid but the red pepper hummus is too sweet for my taste. Also had the yogurt dill dressing on the side--good too. Overall, I enjoyed my meal. Portion size was on the larger side--definitely fills you up. To complete the experience, the people here are super friendly! I recommend this place if you're in the mood for some quick Mediterranean-ish food.

Love this Cava. Reliably good and fast, but the staff also reliably is friendly with my kiddos -- who constantly insist on surveying all of the options and slowly and meticulously pick out out each one of their protein and topping options. This places earned their spot as family friendly on the DC Area Moms Blog H Street NE Neighborhood Guide. As an added bonus for those with kiddos still in high chairs, Cava has fancy Stokke chairs. I was pumped to try them.

This restaurant reminds me of chipotle, however it had a very YUMMY twist to it. First, I was welcomed by a sweet worker (Alyse). This individual was very helpful for a person who had never been here. I will definitely recommend this place to others.

This Cava is a nice addition to H street. It is standard Cava, good, fast, yummy food. I wish they would put more lettuce in the bowls when you get lettuce as a base. It's really impossible to turn your dish into more of a "salad" because they skimp on the lettuce. Also, I wish they would get some hot salsas to add.

Happy that Cava made it to H St. well, I was surprised considering there is another Cava a few blocks away in Union Station. This location is in an nice central location in H St. it's at the corner of 5th and H and has double exposure windows and it always looks bright and inviting. This Cava is consistent with all the other Cava, and the servers here are pleasant. I love the generous portions and the variety of veggies as always. My go to quick meal.

We have passed by many times; I'm glad we decided to stop in finally. The food was terrific and the service was quick and efficient. We will be back!

I'm generally a fan of CAVA and was very excited when this location opened up on H Street. Unfortunately, this H Street CAVA just can't seem to get it right. Whether ordering through the CAVA app for pick up and then finding out the entire salad base was wrong for both salads upon getting home; or ordering a "salad" that skimped on the greens so they were barely there - something just seems off with the performance at this location. CAVA normally delivers good value for the money, but this location seems to provide smaller portions as a default. Thus far, not terribly impressed with this H Street location.

This is always a great healthy fast food option! The Chicken & RightRice is my favorite go to meal and saves me time instead of building my own. However, the build your own option is amazing for those who want to be creative. All in all, a great option for healthy fast food! They are also on UberEats for delivery which is great.

First time here, Angel was super helpful and made my food just how I wanted! Very clean and helpful staff

I couldn't believe the childlike portion of rice and lentils. Prior to covid19 I've only gone to the union station location, like every day. So u can only imagine my disappointment. I would've asked for more rice had I seen them put that little bit in my bowl . And from looking at the pictures above obviously this is not the way they usually serve at this location. The next time I will double check my order before I drive away

You can't go wrong with Cava. Great tasting food, excellent fast counter service. Resonably priced. Everything is fresh and delicious. Just do it! The braised lamb is especially delicious.

I like the CAVA chain a lot and think the food is tasty and healthy. What I appreciate is the ability to have the ability to build up a bowl in a fast casual setting that has plenty of options and sauces. I probably go here once every couple of months. Overall, the only i think they could do better is add more quantity for the price point. Besides that, the place is well functioning, easy, tasty and healthy.
