The 20 Best Restaurants in Nairobi, Kenya | Eater

"At this lively neighborhood wine bar, bottles imported from the world’s major wine regions come with globetrotting food pairings. For the slow-cooked pork belly, for instance, the sommelier might recommend the Chateau Simard Saint Emilion Grand Cru from Bordeaux or the Napa Cellars Pinot Noir from California. Other menu standouts include the lemon herb chicken, calamari carbonara, and deep-fried Camembert. If a glass catches your fancy, you can buy a bottle at the adjacent Cellar Door." - Wendy Watta

Lovely place, great ambience, delicious wine and excellent service. We got complimentary drinks upon arrival and before the fireworks display, which was awesome! The only downside was the food. I ordered the soft crab and it was mostly deep fried dough with very little crab meat, it was tasty though. The fries were too salty but they were graciously re-done. The portions were small. The wagyu burger was quite nice, great flavour.

Where to start, we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who proposed various options for preferred sitting 😊. This place comes highly recommended and it was my second time. The sommelier lacked knowledge and was interested in selling the most expensive wine and compared some of the wines to the high you get from whiskey, I feel I should have asked ChatGPT … he was defo filling in for someone. WineBox you had better sommeliers what happened to those lovely ladies.. We ordered the chicken wings, tasty but dry, the Mediterranean salad was a hit, forgot to ask what dressing they use. I ordered the pork chops, under cooked, terrible presentation and when i informed them my meal was undercooked it too 15 mins to get my meal… the waiter seemed overwhelmed. He didn’t even inform us about the kitchen closing and we wanted to order dessert. His words were there is no one there 😂 Anyway, service can be better, inform guests on kitchen closure incase they would like to sample more from your menu. Ask guests if everything is ok, we had cutlery missing and napkins. Special shout out to the security guards, helpful with parking and very courteous.

Cave à Manger is a wine-bar + restaurant located on Karen Plains Road, offering a refined and intimate dining experience. When you walk in you pass a wine cellar stocked wall to wall with selections, then enter a charming courtyard space. The setting with its terracotta style floors, low wooden beam ceilings, hanging plants and soft lighting feels warm, cozy and stylish, ideal for date nights or relaxed dinners. The menu is designed around shared plates and small dishes, often paired with curated wines selected by in-house sommeliers. Offerings include appetizers, meat and seafood mains, vegetarian dishes, and cheese or charcuterie platters. Wine-pairing is emphasised: each dish comes with suggested wine options to complement the flavours. The overall vibe is upscale yet laid back, combining good food, careful wine selection and a relaxed ambience making it a solid choice for cozy dinners, wine lovers, or special evenings out. #EatOutApproved!

Amazing ambience, delicious food, and a truly impressive live band — especially on a Friday evening. The service was exceptional; Robert was wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable about their wine selection. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a fine dining experience!

The space is beautiful, and the food was genuinely enjoyable,well-cooked and flavorful. However, I had made a reservation and clearly requested a small birthday surprise (something simple like a cake or gesture), but it was completely overlooked. That was the one thing I was really looking forward to, and it dampened what could’ve been a memorable evening. Great potential, but unfortunately, the lack of attention to detail made the experience feel incomplete

Cave à Manger was such a vibe! We went to try their wine, and it was honestly some of the best I’ve had. The place was pretty packed when we got there, but not in a chaotic way. Lots of couples on dates, so it had that cozy, intimate feel, but it also worked great for the three of us hanging out. The service was top-notch, super attentive and quick. And for the quality of wine and the whole experience, the prices were surprisingly reasonable. Definitely a spot I’d go back to for a date or a chill night with friends.

Everything was amazing, from the ambience, service and food. There was a live band and we loved it. Best restaurant I've visited with good service in a while.

We went to The Wine Box - Cave à Manger for Mother’s Day and it was an amazing experience. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was good. Service was attentive and timely. And they were able to accommodate us and the children despite being a wine bar - which we appreciated. They have a lovely sitting area outside which was covered. Our only issue was with the burger as the first time it was over and when it came back it was severely under when it was supposed to be medium. However, the rest of the food was phenomenal. The salmon and beef short ribs had the highest praise on our table. Today they also had the one man guitar who was talented, entertaining and definitely contributed to the five star rating. Would definitely recommend and I will be visiting again.
