Loire Valley Road Trip: 3 Days of Castles, Vineyards and MICHELIN Dining

"In 500-year-old cellars, the oenothèque offers a convivial, sensory introduction to the Loire’s whites and reds, guiding you through the myriad flavors of local varietals and terroirs. You can purchase bottles (with vintages dating as far back as the early 1900s) at the on-site boutique, then enjoy a glass with local cheeses or charcuterie on the riverfront terrace café—or head upstairs to the lively bistro." - Jennifer Ladonne

Such a great wine tasting experience. The caves are really cool to be in, the educational session was so informative, especially as someone who does not know much about French wine. Its nostalgic to be in and knowing the caves once served as the royal cellars to the king. The tour guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable and accommodating. The wines were amazing and I highly recommend getting the charcuterie board, with its great variety of cheese and meats, so much to taste. Highly recommend for anyone staying at Amboise or Loire Valley. Its a must!

We had a great wine tasting here today with Yanni. He gave us lots of information about the wine regions, the winery itself, the way wines are fermented, storage, and the history of this place as well. The caves are amazing and the ‘smelling’ test was super fun. Who knew wines had so many aromas and so many we couldn’t guess correctly! The cheese and meat pairing with the wine tasting was wonderful too. This is a good adventure and Yanni was a great host. We really enjoyed our time with him .. and now have a few of those wines to remember the adventure.

What an experience! The wine tour is incredibly informative, interactive, and fun! The wine, food, and service were all magnificent! If you are in the area it's a great visit. Honestly, even if you're not in the area, get there!

Of all the winery and distillery tours and tastings I’ve done throughout the world (of which there are A LOT), this may be the best. I loved the sensory stations to learn smells and the perfect charcuterie and wine pairings, plus our guide was outstanding. He taught us so many fun facts, including how to figure out ABV by observing how wine falls in the glass, all while not being pretentious. Oh, and the wines were delicious, too! Highly, highly recommend!

We recently visited Caves Ambacia, and it was a pretty interesting experience, especially if you are new to the world of wine. Its location is very convenient, being so close to places like Tours and Amboise, and we had no trouble at all finding a place to park. The tour started with some explanations about wine, which were genuinely useful for getting a basic understanding. There was also a part where we could smell different aromas, which was a nice touch and quite fun for our kid. To be honest, the caves were not the most exciting part. You see a lot of old bottles in a damp, dimly lit space. It was interesting to see, but it was not something that will surprise you. The wine tasting at the end was good. It was a fairly standard tasting, but we enjoyed trying the different wines. It was nice that they welcomed children and even gave them a juice so that they also had something to 'taste'. The part we enjoyed the most was actually lunch after the tour. The restaurant on site is very good. A good tip is to decide what you want to eat when you first arrive and let them know before you start the tour. That way, your food will be ready for you when you finish. We ordered one of the regional cheese boards, and it was excellent. It was a great way to enjoy some local flavors along with their wines. It's a worthwhile stop if you are in the area and have an interest in wine.

This is definitely one of the best tours especially in the amount of knowledge/information we were given. The sommelier Thomas talked us through how he can judge a wine for a blind tasting, and I learned things I have never heard about before (even from being in tours in Napa, Mendoza, Yarra valley in Australia, Franschhoek in South Africa, and Portugal!). Be ready to learn a lot! They also had 16 tubes set up for u to smell and practice guessing or learning scents like apple, pear, leather, flowers, almond, etc to hell you recognize them in wines. Small but delicious cheese and meat pairing to help you taste the wine, and you cna buy them after too. Paul was also very friendly and open to questions. Definitely definitely recommend. We also had lunch upstairs after which was also great. Wish I could give them more than 5 stars!

One of the best wine tours/ tastings I’ve done. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and was funny. Spoke multiple different languages including English which made it very inclusive.

This was my first visit to a French winery, and it was absolutely gorgeous. Our guide was Thomas, walked us through le Terroir, AOC, and how to do a blind tasting of wine. We had 6 tastings, each perfectly paired with cheese or Chaucuterie. We actually came back as part of a tour, d the only reason why we didn’t take it again? I didn’t want to blow our wine budget at one winery!
