Could not ask for a better experience. Growing up, my parents owned a middle eastern/ Mediterranean restaurant so my standards have always been pretty high with Arabic food. This place blew me out of the water. Every single thing we had was absolutely delicious, meats cooked perfectly with so much flavor, and everything was brought out so fast! Exceptional service. The owner also took the time to come out and talk to us and her and her nephew (our server) were absolutely delightful! I love any place that is family owned like that. The recipes, creativity, and flavor really shows that way! We will definitely be returning to try out their breakfast menu :)

I recently tried the chicken shawarma from Cedar Palace and it was fantastic! The chicken was perfectly marinated, tender, and packed with flavor. It was loaded with juicy chicken and a creamy garlic sauce that added the perfect touch. Overall, it was a delicious and satisfying meal. Highly recommend! I will be back

If there’s more stars possible I would add them. The staff makes you feel at home. The owner Silvana checks on every table. Such a pure hearted lady and only wants to make people happy. Pick anything off the menu and you’ll be fine. There’s a middle eastern styled chicken shawarma wrap which is for lunch only. But they’re very kind to serve it for dinner all the time but you have to ask. Their Baklava was really good as well . I Have done take out and dine in both have been a great experience. Love their staff who is always very kind and helpful.

Delicious, authentic Lebanese food from a local, family-owned restaurant. I’m from Lebanon, and the food tastes homemade with fresh ingredients. Would definitely recommend the platters and the hummus! I also had a chance to speak with one of the owners/managers, Mouna, and she was so welcoming and hospitable. Service is excellent, and the portions are large. Love this place!

We have ordered takeout from Cedar Palace many times and decided to take advantage of their lovely patio for brunch today. The food was fresh and delicious. The owner came out to chat with us about one of her dishes to make sure we knew the best way to enjoy it. She was delightful and the service was otherwise top notch. Highly recommend this place for an authentic meal in an environment that feels like home.

Really enjoyed the lamb and the lentil soup here! Servers were really nice and helped to explain a few things on the menu. I didn't realize that they stop serving items on their lunch menu after a certain point so I will definitely be back during their lunch hours

My best friend and I were thrilled to try Cedar Palace for the first time. The service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was incredibly welcoming. We ordered the chicken shawarma dinner, lentil soup, and rice pudding. The lentil soup was particularly delicious and so comforting. We’ll definitely be back to explore more of their menu. A big shoutout to Anthony for his exceptional service!

We came for a weekend lunch and had a lovely experience. The meal started out strong with silky smooth hummus and smoky, flavorful baba ganoush. The Lebanese salad was fresh but the shish tawook I added on was truly excellent. The chicken boasted a charred, slightly crispy exterior and a tender, juicy interior. It was also flavorful all the way through, indicating proper marination. My friend thoroughly enjoyed his Arabic style chicken shawarma sandwich, agreeing with me on how well-seasoned and juicy the meat was. We finished off the meal with some coffee and unbelievably good kunafa. My friend said it was the best that he had ever had, even better than his mom's. We were fortunate to have the chance to talk to the owner, Silvana, and learn about how the restaurant came to be along with her passion and commitment to excellence. It was such an inspirational and human interaction that I would be thinking about for a long while.

This was my first time at the restaurant in my quest for good authentic levantine food in the city. Food was really tasty, I particularly loved the lentil soup. The staff was incredibly kind and generous, even offering me a couple of their desserts to try. I was having a rough day, and their thoughtful gesture really lifted my spirits. I'm grateful for the experience and look forward to returning!

Absolutely delicious, and our waiter was so nice! We went for dinner, and ordered the vegetarian combo, the chicken kibbeh, and the potato boorak. It was all incredible! The falafel was moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside, some of the best I've ever had!

Lovely neighborhood spot and the NICEST ever staff - seriously the nicest I've ever encountered. BYOB, sizable outdoor space in the back, and a ton of delicious food (you'll have leftovers!). Everything on the menu looks delicious, and you can tell this business cares a ton about their customers. Lots of vegetarian options too - which is a plus! We will definitely be back!

Love this place for delicious mediterranean food. The portions are huge and we always have enough for leftovers. But, the staff is even better! The service here is always so quick and so friendly.

We shared the dinner combination with beef shawarma, keftka and shish tawook with a side of garlic sauce/shata. The keftka was our favorite, very flavorful, cooked well. Our least favorite was the beef shawarma, it was seasoned well, but overcooked/dried out. This one plate with soup was enough for two. Outside of the food, the service was great. The daughter of the owner was very kind, welcoming and helpful. She even gave us a free bowl of lentil soup to try. We will be back for sure!

This is the best Middle Eastern food in Chicago and closest to what you can get in Dearborn, MI. Everyone is nice. Everything is fresh and delicious. Fattoush is awesome and the combo plate.

Very homey place! I enjoyed boorak a lot that came with spicy mayo (!!). When I walked in initially I was a bit shocked as the first person we saw was some guy that was very clearly stoned and one of the workers cleaning out a soda machine. However, walking in some more, it's clearly a family-run establishment with very nice people. My boyfriend enjoyed the food a lot and the bill came out to be quite cheap~

I like this place a lot. The service is great and the inside is very cozy. In the summer you do have the option to sit in their little patio area which is also great for a chill lunch spots I definitely would recommend going for lunch over dinner. The lunch deals are great and I think this restaurant excels at their appetizers.

YUM! A true Chicago gem. Portions/prices are great and the food is seriously delicious. The staff are so kind and attentive. I came for brunch and got the shakshuka was was so flavorful, clean, and just so yum. I can't wait to come back and try their lunch/dinner menu!

Took my Lebanese food loving dad here and we were beyond impressed. The service was excellent, the owners took time aside to speak with us and the food was outstanding! We can't wait to come back. Highly recommend the Feta salad, Chicken Tawook, Hummas and not to mention their garlic sauce is delicious.

Nice little spot with good food. The food and service were really lovely and the space is a bit small, but cute and down to earth. I enjoyed the lentil soup, hummus, side salad, and shish tawook. The shish tawook chicken was cooked well and was juicy on the inside. The rice was quite tasty as well. All straightforward dishes on the surface that I would definitely eat again, especially when looking for lighter food options.

This place is fantastic. It is a hidden gem with fantastic food. Our server Anthony was great. The food is fresh and delicious. It hits the spot every time. Best falafel in the city. I I highly recommend supporting this family owned spot! Everything on the menu is a family recipe and the service is amazing!

Found this hole in the wall spot on Google Maps. It doesn't look like much from the outside and is pretty small on the inside. It's BYOB which is an awesome perk. It's family owned and the people are so nice. The food is soo tasty, big portions, and super quality ingredients. I highly recommend you come to this spot for some authentic mediterranean food and a great time. Try the arabian coffee, it's so strong and got a great flavor.

I love this place! It was hidden next to a high school and I went to find some Lebanese food and thank god I did. I really loved the vibes and the flavors of the food. Service was fast and I would go again. I am proud to say my heritage is going strong in Chicago.

The dinner platter was all so delicious, the lamb was the favorite. Along with great food is great service they really make you feel like you're part of the family. Can't wait to go back.

I did an online order for takeout from here. My order was reward before the promised time. The inside is small and pretty full. I could tell just by just doing takeout that the customer service here is great. The guy that gave me my order had a huge smile and thanked me for coming in. I hope he understands, that smile really goes a long way. I ordered their Beef Shawarma and Chicken Shawarma dinner plates. Both were ordered with rice and served with a soup of salad, not a super salad. The beef and chicken were both very flavorful as was the rice. They were both pretty filling as well, but the only thing I would have preferred is for these dinners to be served with pita bread and some sauces. Like hot sauce, yogurt and tahini sauce. In my opinion these should be complimentary with a dinner and not sold separately. That still doesn't change my experience here. Great service and delicious food. Will definitely be returning.

The best Baba ghanoush I have ever had. Flavorful and a little smokey made it absolutely plate licking delicious. Great food overall.

Alrighty, I think I found my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in Chicago! No wonder this place has such glorious reviews!! My boyfriend and I were in the neighborhood and stumbled upon this place while looking for dine-in options. This place has the most authentic middle eastern food!! I ordered a Vegetarian Kaboob platter which included grilled veggies( mushrooms, onions, eggplant, tomatoes) with rice. My server was kind enough to even get in some extra baba ganoush along with the platter. The dinner is served with the option of soup or salad. I ordered a lentil soup which was just perfect for a cold evening. My boyfriend ordered Shish Tawook with grilled Chicken and he absolutely loved it. It was served with Lebanese salad, loved the tangy dressing so much. We also asked for hot sauce on the side and the server mentioned they make their own hot sauces and grow their own peppers and I have to say it tasted so fresh and good! The ambiance could be slightly better as it not as upscale but who cares when the food and hospitality is so good! I will surely come back!!

How do things change in such a short amount of time? I paid 5.00 via doordash for this very sad baklava. It was dry and ridiculous. The pita was also dry and disgusting. I'm on the search for better. I think these managers take a lot for granted.

i'm not going to knock their rating down bc genuinely the food is decent, but as someone who knows Lebanon. It's kind of an insult to offer plain yogurt as a side and give it in a ketchup container. Shishtawook was dry, so was the rice, the cabbage mint salad really saved it. Haven't had that in a while. All in all, good, but i do hope the owner reads this. All love habibi

We had a fantastic experience at Cedar Palace. Cedar Palace is a hidden gym in Lincoln Park - a family owned and operated Mediterranean restaurant. They do not have a big dining room and do not take reservations, so be prepared to wait a while to get a table. They do allow BYOB/W, so we brought our own bottle of wine and they brought us wine glasses - and paid a reasonable cork fee. The staff was so kind and welcoming throughout the entire dining experience. It felt as though we were special guests and friends of the family. They were more than willing to stop and talk with us about anything and everything. We learned that the owners are originally from Lebanon and Syria. Much of the staff is family of the owners. The food was fantastic. We started with an order of hummus, which was delicious. I ordered the Beef Shawarma, which came with rice and tasty pickled radish. I have had this dish a a few times before from Cedar Palace and it hit the spot and didn't disappoint. We stayed a few minutes late while the restaurant was closing, finishing our wine, and the staff was super hospitable - they told us to stay as long as we wanted. We had leftovers and they also packed up some Naan and told us to roll up our rice and beef into it and put it in the microwave for leftovers later. Sure enough, I did this the next day and it was just as good as when we ate it in the restaurant. It's no surprise why Cedar Palace has such a high rating on Yelp. The food is fresh and delectable, the service is outstanding, and the prices are perfectly reasonable.

We came for a Sunday family dinner. The inside has limited seating, so be prepared to wait if you're a large group. The food was amazing!! We had the combination dinner and tried a few different meats plus the baba ganoush and hummus. We also ordered baklava for dessert to-go and they gave it to us on the house! They were so kind and the owner even came out to say hello and check in on us. Would definitely recommend checking this place out! It is also BYOB!

An absolute gem! The food was so good, each dish clearly made with love and care. The service was extraordinary-- our server, Anthony was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. A hole in the wall on Lincoln Park's W Armitage Ave, this Middle Eastern restaurant serves exceptionally tasty, flavorful, affordable food. A friend and I stopped by on Saturday for lunch and it wasn't too crowded-- only 2 other parties seated. The interior is pretty small and intimate and the tables seat 2-4. The decor is cohesive and tidy. I ordered the Shish Tawook sandwich and shared a bowl of french fries for the appetizer. The Shish Tawook sandwich was so delicious: the chicken breast was extremely tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. I was a also big fan of the sandwich wrap: it was so crispy and well-toasted, and overall really added to the freshness of the entire sandwich and eating experience. The sandwich prices are reasonable and affordable too-- $10.99 for such a well-sized sandwich. The fries were also great and had excellent texture. they had a really crispy exterior while maintaining a warm and fluffy interior. The service was quick and friendly, and you pay at the front counter after you're done (just a note that credit cards have a 3.5% surcharge). Overall, I highly recommend this spot for a quick, casual, affordable lunch. I will for sure be back to try the other items on the menu-- they all looked so good, it was hard to choose!

The food was great. Meat was spiced and grilled perfectly. We got the shish tawook and beef tenderloin dinner place. It came with a choice of malfouf salad or soup. Both were great. The service was really friendly and welcoming! This is necessarily a bad thing but the environment was a little loud the hour we stopped in which was a Friday night. Overall this is a great spot for authentic Lebanese food.

Extremely overpriced for average food. We got the beef shawarma plate and it somehow cost $23. For that amount, I'd expect a huge amount of food. It was definitely a good portion size, but not $23 worth. Meat and rice were decent. Salad was underwhelming. Sauce was good. Nothing stood out to me, but after tax and tip we were looking at nearly $30 for this meal. Definitely not worth it.

Back in Chicago for the weekend. Not as good as I remember from 3 years ago when we moved. Still pretty good, but not sure I will "crave" it anymore.

Unfortunately the meat they use for their dishes are extremely dry, making it difficult to chew and swallow. We had the beef wrap and one of the minced meat kabobs. The meat is flavored well enough but not juicy at all.

Favorite Middle Eastern restaurant in the city! Labneh, baba ghanoush, hummus are all so satisfying. Beef dishes are all excellent. Lamb is fabulous. Rice and salad dishes are excellent. lentil soup is the best! Baklava is the best I've had!!! Tea service is very nice! service - above all - is like no other! wonderful gem all around!

This mom and pop shop has excellent flavors in their food. Soup was solid but for sure the entrees of shawarma and kebabs shined through. They give you healthy servings that are appropriate for hungrier appetites and all the food felt extremely fresh. The prices are a couple bucks higher than other comparable places in the city, but can be justified by feeling like you're family eating here and the fresh ingredients used. I sat inside during out meal but I think they may also have an outdoor space. Note that there are some pretty high steps leading into the restaurant - good to be aware for those who may have mobility challenges.

TLDR: The Arabic Style Chicken Shawarma Sandwich Meal on the Lunch Menu was TASTY!! Ordered lunch take-out on a Wednesday as I was walking towards Cedar Palace. I was maybe about 10 min away when I placed the order. The only reason I deducted a star was bc my fries were cold, even though I went to pick up way before the food was supposed to be ready... And I did that precisely bc I wanted fresh hot fries to eat while walking home!!! That's how much I hate cold soggy fries. (I know, #firstworldproblems.) The chicken sandwich combined with the special garlic sauce was absolutely bomb! Whatever marinade they use for their chicken is so flavorful and addicting; I literally did not want to stop eating it. And you can't beat their price for a lunch combo that comes with a sandwich, fries, and a drink! Service for take-out was friendly and prompt. Hopefully next time the fries will be hot and crispy!

Loved the flavors this place packs. Outstanding beef kabobs, chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, chicken kabobs. They have an amazing Lebanese style tabbouleh and both falafel and baba ghanouje were a hit. The staff was professional and friendly. Management on point

Stop reading through reviews and JUST GO. IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A SIGN, this is it. Don't make the same mistake I did and sit on it for months only to come and wish you've been eating here everyday for the past 4 years. Cedar Palace is a fantastic spot. I have been wanting to come here for months after seeing Cedar Palace named by MANY as their favorite restaurant in Chicago in a lot of random private foodie/gal groups, and I finally got around to it tonight. Friday night 6pm and we had no problem getting a table inside (to our surprise, but patio was BUMPING on this summer night). "The Palace" is unassuming to be honest. When I walked in, I had to ask if it was the right place because I wasn't sure. Definitely feels like a hole in the wall, which I think is another reason why the food is of INCREDIBLE QUALITY - because they pour their energy/efforts into the food. Cedar Palace is family owned, and a lot of the family members work at the restaurant. They're all so kind & easy to talk to, proud and love to tell stories of how they've leaned on the family recipes over the years. Asher & Anthony, thank you for taking the time to ask about us first timers!! This place does not cut corners. EVERYTHING IS FRESH. You may not be able to tell from the photos alone (I too was skeptical), but trust me, it is all so freshly prepared, freshly seasoned, freshly fried, etc. The sauces are even made in-house, and are not to mention, to die for. Perfect textures and flavors and consistencies, that all maintain authenticity to the cuisine - which is so important!!! The meats are juicy and perfectly cooked (not dry like some restaurants prepare kababs/kefta). The veggies are fresh and burst with flavors. The spreads you can tell are also one of a kind to the restaurant, and had me scraping for the last bits of hummus (which I normally don't do). They don't try to add some crazy flare and up-charge you for it. Cedar Palace remains true to recipe roots and they GENUINELY CARE about providing customers with fresh, quality food. Just in our hour of dining, dozens came in for pick up orders even, which was so awesome to see as I know Cedar Palace will always make it a priority to maintain this level of quality and freshness no matter how big they get. CANT WAIT TO COME BACK!

I am loss for words! What a beautiful place. The food is incredible. I am Lebanese and I have been in the US for 3 years. I have gone to many, many restaurants across the US in search of authentic Lebanese food, specifically chicken shawarma. The food is absolutely incredible. It's the most authentic Lebanese food I have had outside of Lebanon and I have been to Dearborn and LA! The chicken shawarma, tabbouleh, and kafta sandwich are better than the best Dearborn Lebanese restaurant. I was jumping in my seat. The chef and owner came down and greeted everyone personally. They offered free mana'ish, coffee, and dessert to everyone in attendance. We got all the desserts pictured below for free (3 baklavas, 3 nammouras, 2 osmaliyes) by the chef (owner) and the pastry chef (owner's sister). They are so humble, sweet, and hospitable -- just as authentic a representation of Lebanon and the Middle East as their food is. The tabbouleh is better than the tabbouleh you would get in a Lebanese restaurant in Lebanon. Fayrouz was playing all lunch long. If you have not been there, run don't walk!!!!!!!!!!

Charming! Cute backdoor area. Very friendly service. Strong Mediterranean dishes Hummus - 4/5. Two spices on top provide some variety. Great texture and oil on top. Served with pita that were just OK. Lentil soup - 5/5. Rich, complex. I love this dish and it did not disappoint. Falafel sandwich - 4/5. Freshly fried falafel. Very potent fermented radishes.

Nice and friendly folks turn out very good Lebanese food from a delightful dining room. Its not flawless, but its good and you should be glad they are here. Family operation. Baba ganoush is a particularly worthwhile option. Baklava is the only desert option.

Hands down this is the best Mediterranean food I've had in Chicago! I had never heard of Cedar Palace before, but my friend wanted to visit for her birthday dinner. It's a fairly small restaurant, but has a very European feel to the decor and atmosphere. We had a group of 5 with no reservation, but the staff greeted and seated us within minutes and were more than accommodating our our group's staggered arrival. We tried a handful of items off the menu and everything was amazing. I had the chicken shawarma sandwich and I had to physically stop myself from continuing to eat it so I could go home and share with my partner. The food is flavorful and addicting, and the portions are huge! The staff provided excellent service and made my friends birthday feel even more special. Everyone in our group was incredibly impressed with our first visit - who knew this great of a Mediterranean place was tucked away in Lincoln Park. Another fun perk is that it's BYOB! The taste, menu variety, great service, and cozy atmosphere will have our entire group coming back asap.

Okay, you saw a restaurant near you that has 5 stars on Yelp. 5 Stars? Probably new and doesn't have a lot of reviews...oh wait there are more than 300 reviews? Well it's probably like 4.5 or something rounding up.....wait its got nearly ALL 5 star reviews? That can't be...can it? Yup, it can. I didn't expect to like it this much but here I am, giving yet another 5 star review to this wonderful, wonderful place. Where Lebanese grandmothers hand make all the sauces and marinade all the meat. This place is a 5/5. Don't miss out. You'll be back anyway. Food 5/5: Let me start off by saying the garlic sauce is amazing and goes with everything. 5/5 for Garlic sauce and just the garlic sauce. Okay moving forward. **Feta Salad** Should be pretty vinegary and comes with awesome blocks of feta. If it's not vinegary enough, ask for more dressing. Lots of fresh veggies! 4/5 **Lentil Soup** This soup feels like it's been cooked over hours and hours with the recipe having been handed down for generations. It's warming and comforting and soothing for any kind of day. 5/5 Combo platter: Okay I've had a bunch of the different meats here but there are two that stand out. **Shish Tawook** It's a marinated chicken breast and when I tell you that I ONLY eat dark meat, this is the juiciest, most tender, most flavorful white meat you'll ever have. It's SO good. Especially with a garlic sauce. 5/5 **Beef Shwarma** There's a hint of cinnamon or something in this that makes this taste absolutely amazing. It's savory and goes perfectly well with the yellow rice or the bulgar wheat. The vegetables that it comes with are all so so good. 5/5 **Falafels** THE. BEST. FALAFELS. I've ever had. It's so crunchy, and fluffy. It's not dense at all and has such good flavors. 5/5 There are other things that are good here. Literally the hummus, the labneh, the dolma, so so so good. Service 4/5: They don't wait at your ever call but your water is always flowing and they're all so nice. Atmosphere 4/5: Just come here for a first date, a second date, your 50th anniversary, it's just that good. It's cute and cozy and never gets too loud. Has a really cute outdoor section that's open during the summer.

Nicest dining experience I've enjoyed in ages. The food was delicious. The family owned and operated business is so warm, welcoming and kind. The recipes are fresh and high quality and handed down through the generations. The love shows in their food. We started with Kibbeh...lovely thin crust and tasty meaty beef filling. Perfectly seasoned and piping fresh. The falafel is fresh and homemade. Probably the best I have ever had. Totally recommend. The Mediterranean sauté with beef was excellent. Great seasoning and flavors. The bulgar wheat to the side was light and fluffy. The rice was also top notch and an excellent side. The owner also fixed us up with a very lovely home-y cup of lentil soup, and there are a lot of vegetarian options. Meat eaters will be well satisfied here as well. Portion sizes are ample, to say the least. For dessert, we took home a few pieces of the baklava, compliments of the owner. Again, sweet, crisp and delicious with lots of pistachio. From being seated all the way to our exit, we were treated like family here. I haven't had such a genuinely nice dining experience in ages. I wish this 4-year old business well. We will be back!

Okay, this place is great. From the start to finish, a wonderful experience. Our server was friendly and helpful and gave me a solid tip on salad/meat choices. Service was fast, food was delicious and I mean really good. We had a side of bulgar wheat and I'm telling you - I've never had the stuff- it's incredible. Full of savory flavor, it was amazing. Definitely stop in for a meal!

The food here isn't amazing to contradict a lot of the reviews for this restaurant. There are some things that are very good but a lot that falls short of 5 stars. This cuisine is super simple and is wholly dependent on the quality of ingredients and knowledge of prep. I had the vegetarian combination for lunch and ordered a side of fries for the hummus because I can't stand the cardboard thin pita that is served at the majority of these kinds of places. Does anyone like this? The fries were served without salt. Any decent chef knows you salt food out of the frier. I asked for some and could not believe it when they brought me tiny packets of iodized salt and pepper. The worst quality and flavor salt and pepper you could possibly serve. I hate to extrapolate but I am pretty sure they aren't using the quality of salt and olive oil I would expect from 5 stars in the rest of their food. Some Yelper said the food is of "incredible quality" I think it varies from very good to ok... not incredible. The server was excellent and offered us a free cup of their lentil soup. It came with a nice dusting of cumin and was good. It's a nice restaurant and a good menu. The plate was again good. I don't like dolmas and traded my wife for one of her falafel. I thought the falafel, baba ganoush and hummus were very good. The rice needed some sea salt. It's a good portion and a good plate overall. I prefer some tabbouleh on my plate to the pieces of radish and lettuce. I like when people go to the trouble to make their pita or at least source something better. I'm not saying you shouldn't come here or that it wasn't good. It's typical of so many of the Mediterranean restaurants in Chicago. We just expected more with the rating of 5 stars.

Ordered the lentil soup with a kafta kebob dinner plate. Food was delicious but service is what warranted the 5 stars. Some of the best service I've had in the city. The staff was so sweet and truly made it such a great dining experience.
