"Three Italian friends banded together to open this welcoming spot, named for their grandparents' love for cedro, or citron, plants. Don't let the strip mall location fool you—this place is especially inviting, and the food is authentic Italian in both technique and flavor. Skillfully made by hand, pasta dishes rank high. Tagliatelle topped with a ragu sauce, grated parmesan and a drizzle of high-quality olive oil is proof positive that good ingredients and extra care always deliver the best results. Ossobuco served over a bed of saffron risotto is wonderfully tender and flavorful, and sized for sharing. End on a sweet note with their tiramisu or panna cotta—neither will disappoint." - Michelin Inspector

Food is mediocre and definitely a little bit disappointing considering it is listed as a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant. Service is not great - we can feel they are understaffed and waiters were rushing to serve between tables and we had to tell multiple waiters to bring desert menu in the end too. Music was too loud inside which forced us to sit outside so that we can hear each other talking. In our opinions, Westlake village has better Italian restaurant.

CEDRO Italian Restaurant is truly a hidden gem in Newbury! The food is absolutely fantastic. I ordered the Tagliatelle al Brasato, a delicious dish with tagliatelle pasta and tender, braised pulled short ribs in a rich tomato sauce—it was simply perfect. I also tried the Parma Peach Caprese, which paired Prosciutto di Parma aged 24 months with roasted peach, mozzarella di bufala, and fresh arugula. The combination was beautifully balanced, with a blend of sweet, savory, and creamy flavors that left a lasting impression. Our server, Mattias, made the experience even more enjoyable. He was attentive, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic about ensuring we had an exceptional meal. Though the restaurant itself is understated and simple, it doesn’t do justice to the incredible food they serve. The flavors and quality truly shine and make the experience unforgettable.

Google
Stopped in here for dinner after finding them online. This restaurant is so great. It did take a minute or two to be greeted and then a few more minutes to be seated. But it was worth it. The food is delicious. The portions are traditional Italian size, so a little on the smaller side. But the flavors are amazing. Our waitress was very friendly. Will definitely be returning to try more of their food.

Google
CEDRO Italian Restaurant in Newbury Park is outstanding. We were regular longtime customers of the previous restaurant called Stella’s in this location so was very curious to try the food and see what the new restaurant is all about. Apparently the positive word of mouth is having an impact because it was packed on a Tuesday night and we understand why. We had an amazing dinner and dessert, especially the Ossobuco on saffron risotto is absolutely delicious, it is the best we ever had and all four of us are Italian. The fresh desserts were also delicious. One of the owners was our server and was very engaging and even though they were shorthanded the service was excellent. This is not a fancy or pretentious restaurant but I would compare their food to any high end restaurant in town and put it at the very top. I wish them great success and hope residents will give it a chance.

I came with my family to eat dinner here on a Friday night and it was amazing! The best part was they have gluten-free pasta available, and the naccheri amatriciana was to die for. Service was great, we were well taken care of throughout the meal. Staff were very knowledgeable about the menu, wine, etc. and were extremely attentive. I highly recommend!

Google
We love Italian food (who doesn’t?) and it’s not easy to find authentic, truly delicious Italian food so we are so excited to have found this place. We tried a variety of the pastas (all delicious) and the ossobuco. I would say the ossobuco is a standout dish, we will be back often for that! The wine was also good and everything in a good environment with good people and good service. We cannot wait to come back.

Google
This is a quaint casual Italian restaurant with live music. I felt like there had to be a Nonna in the kitchen. The food was tasty and coursed out well. The tiramisù was perfection. Locals give it a try! I just wish there were more beverage options.

Google
Amazing restaurant amazing experience great food I can't say enough about this restaurant we sat outside on the patio with a wonderful guitar player the breeze was perfect the food was fantastic and the service was great

Yelp
I'm from Chicago and found this wonderful italian restaurant run by delightful, friendly and knowledgable people. Small intimate space with excellent service. Food was spot on. salads, pasta, fish, chicken and Ossubuco! the specials were great as well. definitely a good place for a group to share a different dish. Nice wine list as well. Nothing fancy but this is a winner. truly has a feel of Rome. The community needs to support it. They could defintely make it in chicago which is a great italian restaurant town. Lorenzo H

Yelp
Food was good but the service was above & beyond. We're definitely going back. We had pasta carbonara & a ragu... Both had a really nice flavor. Nice wine menu but only offered one kind of beer.

Tommy L.

Yelp
I had read that Cedro was on the Michelin guide so Ive been meaning to try it. I was able to make a same day reservation for a Friday night at 7pm. We arrived promptly and was seated at a small table that was really meant for 2 people but it worked and I was happy I didn't have to wait. Restaurant itself is pretty small but I was surprised by the amount of outdoor seating--something I may request next time on a nice day. Our host was friendly and explained the specials for the day. We ordered everything to share and I would recommend doing so. For appetizers, we really enjoyed the mussels and the rustica salad. We were in the mood pasta so that's what we all ordered to share for our entrees. The sauce in the scoglio had so much flavor. The seafood was good. And the pasta was almost at the al dente texture that I was looking for. For dessert, we shared the coffee mousse and tiramisu. The tiramisu is huge. We really didn't have to order the mousse but it was good. We didn't drink this time around but did see they have wine offerings and people bringing in their own bottles. Plenty of parking. Credit card accepted. Reservations by phone.

Erika A.

Yelp
The food is fantastic! The pastas - rigatoni and the tagliatelle were amazing! First impressions are important- the wine list needs to be presented on a real menu not a scrap piece of cardboard. It's not too expensive to laminate one. The service is friendly. They are definitely very busy and highly recommend a reservation. Observation- our order came out very delayed- almost waited 1 hour after being seated to get our entrees. Other parties ( that arrived after us) were served their food before us?? Not quite sure if our order was put in sequence or forgotten about. Must end the meal with the made in house tiramisu!

Yelp
What a delightful find nestled in the suburbs! This cozy Italian spot is a breath of fresh air amidst the sometimes overly fancy eateries in the area. If you're all about embracing the sweet life, this is your spot. Reservations HIGHLY recommended, call them, they do it the old fashion way. No opentable or resy app here. Service - it's top-notch. The owner and host add a special touch, making you feel right at home. Now, if you're in a hurry, this might not be your speed. The pace is leisurely, but hey, that's all part of the charm, right? Just be prepared to linger a bit longer than usual. (Also the reason for the one star off), I recommend booking the opening hour spot for prime dinner service. Now, onto the good stuff - the food! The burrata appetizer was a creamy dream, especially paired with those flavorful veggies and sauce. And don't even get me started on the linguine with clams - perfectly cooked pasta with clams done just right, no grit in sight. The ossobuco with risotto stole the show, a true highlight of the evening. Even the little one enjoyed her pomodoro pasta, polished off with a smile. And dessert? Oh, the Nutella panna cotta was a heavenly ending to our meal. Light, delicious, and oh-so-satisfying. My advice? Take it slow, savor every bite, and bring your own bottle to save a few bucks. Buon appetito!

Yelp
This place is a gem in the extreme suburbs. The TO area has its share of pretentious Italian places in beautiful spaces, but this is not that. This is a perfect little Italian slow food place for those who love the dolce vita. The service is perfect, and the owner and host are charming. The food is not fast, but that's the point, and they never kick you out. We had the Buratta nell orto and the clam appetizer. They were both good, but the veggies with the buratta were unusual and delicious. My group had the pasta carbonara, with a lovely al dente pasta and guancale, the rissto with short rib and truffle, and the branzino. All the pasta portions were perfectly sized to allow you to share an entre. The truffle with the risotto was special and spectacular. We finished with a light, delicious tiramisu. Go here, don't rush. And enjoy. And byob - they have a corkage fee but you'll save lots.

Sarah K.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in here for dinner and man was it pleasant. We did have to wait a little at the door before we were greeted and then waited a few more to be seated. Service is a little slow, but everyone is so friendly. If you've been to Italy, you know the portions are smaller and this restaurant definitely replicates a traditional Italian restaurant. They had music playing and music was. The perfect volume, not very loud but enough to be heard. We ordered the bruschetta, cacio e Pepe, promodoro e basílico and the tiramisu. Everything was delicious. Would definitely return to try more of their food. Very enjoyable.

Yelp
We found the interior and ambiance nice with the musician accompanying as well and wait person was attentive. They served slices of sandwich bread, which for some reason was toasted ?? - along with oil and balsamic, but I was confused why the slices were toasted. Could have been made up sliced and toasted with olive oil and some parmesan as large 'croutons" and that would have been a better presentation and more flavorful. I had the Branzino which was flavorful and well cooked; however the caesar salad for $15 was 4 tiny cores of romaine head which seemed to indicate they ran out of leaves on a Sunday early evening and scant dressing so that was very disappointing. My guests both had the mushroom risotto "special" which was tasty but lacked evidence of the mushrooms in the rice and at $28 was overpriced. No garnish, decoration or side with the dish, just a bowl of rice. Please rethink your presentation and pricing.

Kenny N.

Yelp
We found out about this place online It said it was Michelin rated so of course I wanted to go. We went tonight for dinner and I have to say the food was absolutely delicious. The staff was even better. They are the nicest most friendly down to earth people you'll ever meet so sweet and personable in the restaurant felt like being at home. We met the owner who is Italian and our waitress was Italian and they were the sweetest nicest people you'll ever meet in. The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the chicken Milanese with a porcini mushroom sauce that was so good and my wife had the branzino that was so good. And you have to try the panacotta. So good wow. Go and check it out. You will not be disappointed

Deena B.

Yelp
Had the braised beef special for $33, delicious meat albeit small portions served with cold risotto (very unappetizing). The "wine list" is a piece of cardboard with prices and "no name" wines. i'm glad we brought our own bottle and paid the $20 corkage. The tiramisu was delicious $11. The atmosphere is nonexistent.. the basket of bread was the worst bread I've ever been served at a restaurant, tasted like two week old wonder bread that had been sitting out on the counter, like sawdust. How this place got a Michelin rating is beyond my imagination.

Marco Z.

Yelp
From the moment you step in this restaurant is like being in Italy. I had a table booked for 8 and we were immediately seated. Restaurant was packed but the lovely waiter promptly got us water. Starters were delivered at our table along with bread really quickly. For main courses it took a bit longer but we kinda were expecting it because we ordered 8 different dishes and let me tell you: -spaghetti carbonara was better than the one I had at high restaurants in Rome - Ragú sauce tasted real authentic and was clearly made in house with a traditional recipe - Ossobuco omg it was my time having it in a restaurant and It was just superb - desserts we tried the coffee mousse and the pistachio tiramisu and were simply stunning I couldn't recommend any more this place and I will definitely be back here in my future business trips.

Amber R.

Yelp
Incredible! Went Friday night with friends and the service and food were fantastic. Very early days for this restaurant, so requires a little patience, but will not disappoint. Favorites were the Burrata with sauteed mixed veggies and the Rigatoni Amatriciana. Every single staff member was welcoming and warm. Overall a great experience!

Peggi S.

Yelp
A lovely little restaurant with wonderful food. The ravioli was melt in your mouth. The mushroom sauce; so Devine I didn't want anyone to speak while I was eating‼ I would give 6 stars if I could.

Pete S.

Yelp
In the former Stella's location in Newbury Park...Cedro's is a small Italian spot reminiscent of locations in parts of Italy. Patience is a key (and something California diners don't have much of) as everything is prepared À la Minute. Sauces were flavorful - and plentiful. I found the salads a bit over dressed - but that's my personal preference. Pasta was cooked aldente and came out hot! Only issue at our table was our waiter ordered us a pesto salmon, rather than the Salmon Alla Luciana that was originally requested - the staff quickly rectified the issue - leaving the pesto dish on the table and quickly getting out the proper dish. Good for small groups - 6 or less. Parking right out front.

Cheryl Ann A.

Yelp
So-so. We ordered the Caesar salad and it wasn't impressive. Hardly any garlic flavor to it. The Clams on my Pasta Vongole were so minimal (6 shells and one of them had nothing in it, and they were little clams) so by the time I ate the 5 pieces, all that was left was pasta with no other flavoring of clams in the dish. It was disappointing given the cost of $22. The bacon in the carbonara pasta was delicious. But portions are little, given the price. Not value for money. We had to ask for a small dish to put the olive oil and balsamic vinegar cause they served bread, had the condiments on the table but no dish. The bread was very basic, my daughter can bake better bread than they served. Sad really. It's a new place and they're trying to market themselves as upscale but the chairs look like old banquet chairs that have been retrofitted, the tables are not the best, and altogether, despite the Italian accents of the co-partner, I was dissatisfied.

Silvia O.

Yelp
Fresh good Italian food. Very small menu which speaks volumes on freshness. Service was exceptional except they did not have our reservations. Glad we had out email to prove.

Monica H.

Yelp
Cedro's is absolutely HEAVENLY! The Italian gods have smiled on Newbury Park. A must try is the Bruschetta, Tonnarelli Cacio E Pepe, and Pana cotta for dessert. An Italian food experience we'll never forget

Alessio C.

Yelp
Really delicious authentic Italian food. I was welcomed in by the manager and I got seated immediately in a very cute table. My girlfriend got the pesto and salmon pasta and a francia corta sparkling wine. She loved it! I got the ragù pasta and a glass of the amarone red wine. Really happy with it. I really recommend it!

Lisa S.

Yelp
Just left and we wanted to like this place. The service was not good. The red wine and Chianti were served ice cold, which was very odd. Started with bruschetta which was not what we expected, the portion was very small and the bread was tasteless. 40 minutes later our entrees arrived. They were fair at best. We had high hopes for this place as it was Michelin recommended.

Matthew B.

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing. Service was prompt. You're made to feel like family. Flavors and presentation were both beyond. HIGHLY recommend this establishment.

A.J. A.

Yelp
Really delicious authentic Italian food. Limited menu but in a good way. Branzino was great- recommend it! Service was welcoming, accommodating and made you feel at home. Busy because it's worth it so either put up with the wait or try to call ahead and make a reservation!

Christine B.

Yelp
Went to Cedro for dinner last Friday night. It's a small place so I would suggest a reservation. Upon arrival we were asked if we had a reservation and we did . The gentleman told us to grab one of the open two tops so we did. My husband and I sat for a good 15 minutes when I realized no one was even going to bring us menus so, I got up and got a couple of menus from the front myself. The server came over and asked us for our drink menu but we didn't have a drink menu. She brought a piece of cardboard with a hand written wine menu on it. We ordered wine and The Caeser salad to share, brushetta, and Cacao de Pepe, and the Ragu for dinner. We got our salad and brushetta and they were good, just small portions. Then we waited over an hour to get our pasta dishes. Our server never put them in. Pasta finally came in small portions and tasted ok. Also, the restaurant itself is a bit run down, plants are dying in their pots, and the chairs look like they were out of some old banquet room. Probably will not return.

Cindi L.

Yelp
The food and service was great. The ambiance leaves a bit to be desired if you're looking for something up scale. Small place and a little on the noisy side. 4 for dinner and each one of us we happy with what we ordered. We started with Caesar salad, and I had the Ragu with bolognese. It was delicious and a nice portion. Another had Salmon with a light pesto over rigatoni. Nice piece of salmon and plenty of pasta. My only issue was I had made a reservation ( yes they take reservations) a week prior to our visit and they didn't have it. So a little turmoil over that but they seated us and all was good.

H C.

Yelp
You can sense the authenticity of Cedro as soon as you step in the door. Having moved back to the area after living in SF, LA and NYC, I've learned the ability to walk to a great restaurant is one of life's most luxurious simple pleasures. Cedro seems to be walking a fine line between a stylish date night spot, and a warm, neighborhood restaurant-and they're making it look like a cakewalk!

PD L.

Yelp
I was not impressed. My clam spaghetti dish was way over salted and had tiny clams. (They could get better clams at Costco!) I found it overpriced for what it is. The decor looks like Stella's moved out and they moved in. For the prices they are charging, they really needed to redo the inside. Ambiance at a high price point like that is important. Better portion size would be helpful. Portions seem like half a normal portion. Better salad choices would be nice too. Especially changing the Ceasar type to a cut up lettuces/homemade Ceasar dressing.. It's too saucy and not enough lettuce. Or croutons. I think the place needs improvement. The positive side is the owner is charming and attentive.

Alex P.

Yelp
If you want authentic Italian food Cedro's is your restaurant. The ambiance is casual and relaxing. I thought the service was great, everyone is attentive but its not fast. It's really a place that lets you enjoy the company of your family and friends. I ordered the carbonara and it was amazing. I was sad when i finished it lol my boyfriend ordered the rigatoni and boy was that good too. The food tasted fresh and homemade. We ordered a bottle of primitivo wine and ordered panna cotta and tiramisu for dessert. Overall this place has amazing Italian food that is packed with flavor. I will be coming here again to try the rest of the food.

Rod P.

Yelp
Very disappointed. Will not go back there again. I ordered a Ceasar salad for starters. It was like three pieces of lettuce and a couple of crouton's. It was $14.00 I could not believe what I got for the price. It was a Wednesday night. Most but not all of the tables were full. It took a full 45 minutes to get our food. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about. Service was terrible. Waiter never came over to tell us why our food was taking so long, nor did he come back and check after we finally received out food. The atmosphere was non existent. Look at the picture of the salad on their web site and you will see what I mean about the salad. How much could it cost to add a few more pieces of lettuce and make a nice presentation. Will not be back. We were checking the place out. We often times go out with our friends for dinner. Glad I checked it out before dining with friends. I would have been embarrassed to have recommended this place.

Marlene S.

Yelp
Just returned from a wonderful meal at Cedro, and the food was fresh, well-prepared and delicious. The carbonara was as good as anything I have had in Italy, and the appetizers were absolutely scrumptious. The staff was friendly and made us feel very welcome. Make sure to try the tiramisu, it was the perfect way to end a beautiful evening. Can't wait to return.

Jen O.

Yelp
I wanted to go here because I read it was a Michelin rated restaurant, but wasn't impressed at all. I could have prepared something better myself at home. The restaurant is crowded with small tables and they put our small party of three tall people at a tiny table against a wall. Hardly any legroom let alone room for all the dishes we ordered on top. Had to scoot all the way up so the stressed-out waitress could navigate behind me. The generic wine list was written on a tattered piece of cardboard with no vitners listed (does no one have a printer there?). I ordered the salmon, which was covered in tomato sauce and black olives (maybe canned?) that destroyed the taste of the fish. Knowing the plates were small, I also ordered a side of potatoes, which were new potatoes that seemed to be just tossed into the microwave and salted. No oil or other seasoning. Not even a sprinkling of parsley. It took about an hour to get our food after ordering. (leg cramp!). Will not be going here again. If you want a great Italian dining experience at the same price, go to Marcello.

Ian G.

Yelp
Thanks for the excellent service. The food was amazingly prepared very authentic Italian food. Music, delicious food and great service a must try. We will be back for sure.

Axel E.

Yelp
Best autentic italian food I every tried Amazimg service Ceasar Salad one of the best salads with their homemade dressing and the carbonara with real Italian guanciale I recommend this place if u want a taste of Italy in California.

Gina M.

Yelp
Fabulous dinners served for the 10 of us. Carbonara, lasagna, bolognese, all so delicious. Service so attentive for us. Just large enough seating for a nice ambiance. Beautiful evening dining at Cedro's.

Jan S.

Yelp
Great food and service!!! The owners are so nice and accommodating and make everyone that comes thru their doors feel welcome. Food is very very good. I had the Ragu and loved it. Jan

Marlo W.

Yelp
Delicious Italian food right in the heart Newbury Park! Mattia was a sweetheart! We loved the Burrata with Eggplant, the pastas and also Branzino was delish! Can't wait to get back there!

richard f.

Yelp
Just ate there. 6 of us. Ceaser salad was tasteless. Service was very slow. Food was fare at best. It's a one and done. Wish them well but we won't be returning

Ted B.

Yelp
Exceptional Italian restaurant. Our service was amazing, food was fresh and perfect. Caesar Salad is probably the best I have ever had. Salmone Pesto will be my go-to dish, some of the best flavors in a Pesto you could ever ask for. Highly recommend, this is a can't miss Italian restaurant.

Steve C.

Yelp
If I could leave no stars I would. We waited over an hour to get our food. When we told the manager we were waiting, he gave us a sarcastic smile and said the food would be up any minute. It took another 15 minutes and only 2 of the 5 dishes came out. A couple of minutes later the third one came out and the other 2 didn't come out until after the first 2 diners were done with their meal. At no point did the server show any real concern. And at the end of the meal, when they had a chance to maybe comp us a meal or two, nothing. And BTW, the food was nothing special. Won't be going back.

David P.

Yelp
Sunday evening dinner: Great food but small Italian menu with a few specials.... Live music with wonderful classical/ modern guitar player to set the mood. This place is just starting out so service is slow with minimal staff. But the food was brought to the table hot. If you're not in a hurry on Sunday evening and you like European Italian cuisine and great music, this is the place! We had Casio e Pepe, Linguine Vongole, and Burrato Nell'Orto with some wine and Tiramisu for desert! I will return and try some Secondi!

Mahsa D.

Yelp
Great service and food. Tiramisu was amazing and so was the braised short rib special. They should add it to the menu.

Alina G S.

Yelp
An Italian Gem in Newbury Park, great food and service at this very young restaurant. Owners and staff taking care of customers to deliver a wonderful experience ! We ordered from specials and the menu and the food was tasteful and delicious. Wine was perfect with food we ordered. Word is getting around, we got there right when it opened at 5 and soon place was full ! Reservations are a must.

Kathy H.

Yelp
Good: food, service, friendliness of owner Not as good: $20 corkage, no pepper grinder in the restaurant for Caesar salad, not a lot of variety on menu, atmosphere

Jo M.

Yelp
Food is excellent. Very much like what I had in Florence and Venice, Italy. Service is very good. Very attentive. Definitely going again. Soon.

Bonnie P.

Yelp
The short ribs were perfect. The chicken Milanese was very dry and arrived after a couple of our party of 5 had finished their dinner! The place is charming. The owner is working hard, but he cannot run this restaurant effectively with no servers! It took a couple of requests and a long wait just to get a glass of wine. We waited a long time for our dinners and then he totally forgot our birthday request which was made when we reserved. Entrees, except pasta all about $40, which would have been ok if the ambiance and service were better.

Corinne R.

Yelp
Authentic Italian food, owner is very friendly and engaging. I am not interested in a fancy interior which this does not have. More importantly is the quality of food and feeling of a good vibe both you will get here.... It's unfortunate the one negative review was spent complaining about timing this is not a fast food restaurant. Stop with your entitled nonsense.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Had dinner here Friday night. Excellent food that made me feel like I was back in Italy. Great addition to our neighborhood. Can't wait for them to open for lunch and the weather to warm, so we can eat al fresco .

Katie O.

Yelp
WOW!! Very authentic Italian food. They have just the right portions and very yummy appetizers. I would get one of everything from the menu if I were you. The owner is so kind and super welcoming. 10/10 would eat here again!

Karolyn B.

Yelp
The food is delicious authentic Italian. The service is excellent, very welcoming and personable. Definitely a place to go

Ilenia F.

Yelp
if you're looking for authentic Italian food, this is the right spot. the service is excellent and all the people working there are welcoming and sweet, makes you feel like you're in Italy! don't even know where to start with the foot. the bruschetta was amazing and the carbonara pasta was mmmmm yum!

H Dennis L.

Yelp
Just awesome food & service! Our new "go to" for Italian food! Hopefully everyone will support our new local hidden gem!

Sharon R.

Yelp
Went last night. Friendly staff. Bread was a disappointment-stale and tasteless. The Wine list was delivered on cardboard and basically was non existent. Their "specialty" the Ossobucco was tender and tasty but served at room temp, as was the risotto that accompanied it. The ragu was good with freshly made pasta, but hardly anything special. I'm not sure if they are overwhelmed by all the attention but nothing we ate set it apart from other good Italian restaurants. Not sure how Michelin decides who gets a star.
