Céna

"Chef Clément Briand-Seurat has left the Pic Saint-Loup restaurant to open his own establishment (Cena means supper or dinner in Latin) beneath the ribbed vaults of a medieval edifice in the heart of historic Montpellier. A snug, romantic vibe, enhanced by centuries-old stonework and candle-lit rough oak tables, sets the scene. The chef signs a creative single set menu in which he endeavours to enhance the produce of local growers and breeders thanks to flawless craftsmanship (chutneys, oils, crumbles, crackers and whipped siphon concoctions). His knockout mushroom consommé and ‘stroll in the woods’ embodies this ethos." - Michelin Inspector

It’s a true gastronomic performance. Every dish is perfectly served and accompanied by a brief presentation of the ingredients, ideas which stand behind the dish, and finally all products are local. It’s exceptionally delicious. Food is an art at this restaurant for sure. The staff is friendly and welcoming and speak English.

3 stars because: In their site they say if you want a vegan menu let us know 48 hours prior. Well, we let them know 1 week in advance but when we got there the service was a bit unorganised. They didn’t really know what we will eat exactly and also we couldn’t have the option of 4 plates since they didn’t had any vegan cheese or something similar. Secondly, our main plates were the sides of the fish plates but they putted a bit more than the sides. It was very tasty but I would say a very small portion for a vegan dish. And lastly, I find it a bit unfair to pay for a vegan menu the price of a non vegan 3 course menu, since they had to exclude some dishes for the vegan menu, also, 10 green beans more than the ones of the fish course still I don’t think that it balances the cost difference. A really nice and fair idea i think it could be to have a different package for vegan menus. Rather than these i have to say that the food was delicious and the service super friendly! The only thing I didn’t like was the dessert which was very sour and spicy. Strawberry with dijon mustard for a dessert it’s totally not my thing. I was really jealous of the chocolate plates of the others menu. A good alternative for vegans could be to use dark chocolate instead of milk ones. Would love to go again but with a bit more fairness in the vegan courses.

I liked how the waiters speak english and explain the dishes in preferred language. The dishes were creative and the concept was exciting. I had visited it twice with few weeks apart i liked the fact that both occasions had different dishes and different experience.

Wow! What a great lunch experience. The staff are very attentive and professional. The atmosphere of the once religious building is unique. The tables are well spaced apart to add to the spacious feeling. We were seated with a view to the kitchen. It was amazing to watch the coordination of the chief and his team. As for the food, it was art to my sight and mouth. The tomato strawberry combination of the first course was one that I would never expect but work so well. Our monk fish was prepared to perfection. And my apricot desert was beyond expectation. The meal was like a story that ended where it began. The final tasting looked like the first tasting but with different flavors. Bravo and very creative. I would recommend this restaurant to any friends or family.

Fantastic dinner! Creative cuisine with artisanal touches throughout - a thoughtfully crafted menu and excellent wine pairing. This place doesn’t have a star but it deserves one - actually better than some michelin star experiences I’ve had.

I had the tasting menu at CÈNA, the food was incredible and the wine was well paired with each dish. A big thanks to the team for a warm welcome and for taking the time to explain each dish and their attention.Highly recommend when visiting Montpellier. Merci, c'était magnifique !
