The Hottest Restaurants in Nashville, Delivery Edition - Eater Nashville

"Available on DoorDash and Postmates, the Memphis-born slow-smoked meat merchant Central BBQ opened in late October — bringing ribs, pulled pork, brisket, turkey, and chicken to carnivores in Nashville. The popular barbecue brand began smoking meats on Memphis’ Central Avenue in 2002, and has since expanded its meat-heavy empire to three other locations there before spreading its smoky wings to Music City." - Delia Jo Ramsey

Absolutely love this place. I always eat at the one in Memphis and didn't even know Nashville had one. This one was literally great location downtown in the Capital area. I got the 3 meat plate. I got doubled shredded chicken and sausage. The sides was baked beans and green beans along with roll. Everything is amazing. They have many BBQ sauces to choose from but to me the mind is the best. The hot isn't bad but just taste a little funny to me. Great decor in the restaurant and all the staff was nice as well.

Order Smoked Wings, Mac & Cheese, Green Beans as well as 1/2 rack of ribs w/ greens and fries. The wings and ribs were good. Ribs literally fell off the bone. The fries were good. I could have gone without other sides.

I ordered the Fried Chicken Salad. Can you believe they served me a mediocre salad with no chicken, only fried bits of flour?! It was like they fried the crumbs that were left in the bag. No chicken meat! When I asked for chicken for my salad they acted like I was lying so I showed them. The carrot sticks on the salad were also old and dry. No customer would enjoy this experience.

Large, open, airy space with TVs. We ordered pulled pork, side salad, and fried pickles. As with some other places these days, I was asked to tip before any service provided (which is the exact reason for tipping - for quality service). And despite my begrudgingly paid 20% tip, we were delivered food without utensils, without salad dressing, and ROOM-TEMPERATURE, DRY pulled pork. If we ordered shortly before closing I’d expect the mediocre meat, but we arrived an hour after opening, so we suspect the pork was leftover from yesterday. The pickles were great (hard to mess up fried pickles) but I was hesitant to send back the pork (although felt entitled to good food after paying $30 with a 20% tip) because the staff seemed miserable, especially the kitchen worker on his phone with health-code violation open-toe footwear, so I didn’t want to risk upsetting him. Needless to say, we both needed Tums shortly after leaving and had stomachaches for 1-2hours.

I recently visited Central BBQ and was more than pleased with the service that I received. Aria was very personable, kind and prompt. She went above and beyond to ensure that our gluten-free dietary restrictions were met. Food was great and I will definitely be a returning customer due the amazing service received. Thank you!

This is the best food I have ever had in my life! I had chicken nachos, mac and cheese, and also got to try the cheese curds. The workers were more than kind, there is not a word in the english language to describe how incredible and kind this staff was. Y’all I cannot further explain how incredible this food was. Eat here fr. Trust it is so good.

We consider the original Central BBQ in Memphis to be the best BBQ in a city known for incredible BBQ--the kind you dream about and go out of your way on a roadtrip to enjoy...and skip meals before to have as much appetite as possible. We were so excited to see that Nashville now has Central BBQ as well...but so disappointed when we went. The atmosphere and service leave a lot to be desired, and the portions on our favorite item (brisket nachos) were so disappointing. We like to leave constructive criticisms in the hope that the location can be improved since we love Central BBQ: 1) Portion size: if you haven't tried the brisket nachos, you're missing out. But the portion here at this location is almost HALF the size of the portion at the Memphis locations despite the price being almost identical. Here, it's listed on the snack menu, and that's what it is: a snack, with so little meat. I have included a picture of the Nashville location nachos and the Memphis location nachos. The baskets in Memphis are gigantic. I'd recommend having a meal size nacho platter even if you need to charge more, and not skimping on the meat. No one should leave a BBQ restaurant hungry. 2) Cleanliness: Even though the restaurant was almost empty the table and chairs were really sticky, and we had to wipe them down ourselves. Icky. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands afterwards and the bathroom sink doesn't turn on. Can't imagine how I'd feel having used the bathroom and not being able to wash my hands before using them to eat BBQ 3) Atmosphere: it was hot enough inside to make us sweat. The thermostat on the wall showed 76, but it was much hotter in the main sitting area and the areas near the glass walls. I'd estimate 80 degrees. 4) Character: please put up real menus on the wall. A BBQ place that has only electronic menus at a kiosk and take out style paper menus...that's not right. I didn't realize how much character matters until I walked in here and it didn't have any. We ate at lunch time on a Sunday, and were the only ones there when we arrived. Two other small parties came during the whole time we were eating. I've never seen a Central BBQ not crowded regardless of the time of day. I think this location needs a lot of help.

Was disappointed in service today. Got pick-up and the bottle of sauce I paid 10$ for wasn't included. No big deal, I'll try to contact someone and ask if I can get a 10$ gift card for next time or a refund. Unfortunately the contact info on the delivery app isn't a real phone number (missing 2 digits) and if you do find their real number they apparently won't answer the phone, you just get a message that their office is closed. Not at all mad at the server because the bottle didn't show up on the ticket attached to the bag, but I definitely got charged for it and would like to get that money back.
