What Are Dosas and Why Aren’t There More South Indian Dishes on Menus? | Eater

"A Bengaluru institution for more than 80 years, this long-running tiffin spot—now also known as Shri Sagar—is especially famed for its butter-laden masala dosas served with filter coffee; its enduring popularity and extremely low prices in India highlight the stark cost differences diners face in the U.S." - Nikhita Venugopal

I had ordered masala dose from CTR which is know for its taste and authenticity but unfortunately we found a cockroach in dose which is a disaster. This was one of my favourite hotel for dosa in bangalore and now i am sure i would never visit this place again. CTR is one of the must visit place for anyone who is new to Bengaluru and if there is no proper maintenance, cleanliness it will definitely lose its charm. I called up restaurant too to let them know about my experience. The person who picked up my call told me that it never happened like this earlier and they would be careful next time. We asked them to dump the whole batch of aloo palya which was prepared that day.

Excellent Experience at Central Tiffin Room! I had a truly fantastic experience at Central Tiffin Room. The food was absolutely delicious, deserving every one of its five stars – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The service was equally impressive. The staff were attentive, polite, and efficient, making sure our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. The atmosphere was also wonderful – very pleasant and inviting, contributing to a relaxed and enjoyable meal. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast options here, which were outstanding. I highly recommend Central Tiffin Room for anyone looking for a superb dining experience!

Its a small restaurant serving some of their signature super crispy dosas. There was a long queue waiting for a seat and enjoy the food, thankfully due to good management, the wait time was not very long. We waited for around 10 to 15mins. We had the benne masala dosa and mangaluru bajji. The taste was good, definitely worth a try, especially for its heritage.

Must visit if you’re a dosa lover. Usually i visit in evening, but you need to wait in long queue sometimes. Must try Crispy Masala dosa, Mangalore bhaji, bonda soup. Take coffee if you’re a coffee lover. You have limited parking place, finding a parking is quiet tough.

Established in 1920, this is one of those hidden gem of malleshwara. Visited by Virat Kohli, Deepika padukone it has added another feather into the hat. Love their amazing mangalore bajji, benne masala dosa, signature coffee. Be ready to stand in queue to visit this nostalgic place. However, people do comment on food being overhyped, which is left to each individual.

Best Dosa! 🔥 This place is always hyped, busy, and truly worth the money. It’s located opposite Malleshwaram Ground, right at the corner, making it easy to find with decent parking available. The wait time is around 10 minutes to get your order 😥, but the staff are good, responsive, and provide quick service once your turn comes.

If you haven't eaten here, you've missed out on something authentically Bengaluru. I regret not going here sooner; I've wanted to do so for a long time and finally found the time. Fantastic flavour. tried about every well-known dish that CTR serves. Be ready to wait outside the place for at least 20-30 min before you’re offered a place to sit.

We had ordered the Masala Dosa and the Mangaluru Vada during our visit. The vada was something new for us, and we genuinely enjoyed trying it. However, the dosa was quite disappointing and did not live up to the hype at all. Honestly, it wasn’t worth the time we spent waiting or the money we paid. We arrived around 5 PM on a Saturday evening. First, we had to wait about 30 minutes outside to get in, and then another 25 minutes inside after ordering before we even got our first bite of food. Given all this waiting, we were expecting something exceptional, but the dosa turned out to be very average. In fact, you can easily find better dosas at any decent Udupi restaurant or even your local dosa place. Another major issue was how oily both the dosa and vada were. Oil was literally dripping from the dosa, making it unpleasant to eat with hands. The vada was no better — if you pressed it slightly, you could actually see oil flowing out like a stream. Thankfully, the tissue papers provided helped absorb some of the excess oil, but it was still quite off-putting. While they do have a decent seating arrangement, the service was extremely slow. For a place that mainly serves dosa, taking 25 minutes to bring it to the table felt unreasonable. Overall, the experience was not worth the hype. We do not recommend visiting if you're expecting outstanding food or quick service. There are definitely better and more satisfying options available elsewhere.
