With ‘Depression Cooking Zine’ Sonali Menezes Redefines Self Care | Eater

"A Hamilton gallery staged "How to Cut a Mango," a sprawling, affectionate exploration of the mango that functioned as a shrine to the fruit. The exhibition combined sampling and profiling of many mango varieties with interviews of family members about how they cut, eat, and experience mangoes, and paired those conversations with mango prints and related artworks to create a sensory, diasporic love letter that connects culinary heritage to questions of nourishment and community." - s.e. smith

I had great service in the past. Recently, after the staff member I was dealing with left, the communication was terrible because they were short staffed due to covid. It has been weeks later, almost a month and no compensation or communication about what will happen now that they can't send me my digital scans or give them to me. Because of lack of communication, I had an event to sell my art and I really wanted my prints. They never printed or gave me my works on a USB stick. I was a member for years which means I paid money to become a member and also to get scans done. I'm living in Brantford driving to hamilton. When they couldn't tell me how many prints were scanned, I was upset. Most of my work should be in the system. I asked how many were there, and they couldn't tell me. I'm not gonna drive and wait in traffic just to get a couple scans on a USB stick. It's too bad, the space is great, the service was good. Now I'm out of scans, time, and money. Time wasted to get them scanned and also money because it sounds like they weren't saved. I just wanted to come out here and say this was unprofessional and most artists may hold back because they don't want to lose a space to showcase work..but I'm warning future artists to be careful. Time and money is not something we have much of. For some of us, art isn't our career and we have to make time outside the job that supports us to be the artist. I don't think the people who are fortunate to work in the art industry full time understand that.

This is an open studio for graphic art. I work in here. Doing litho. The staff is great, there is a photo shop section, a silkscreen studio, a members gallery. There are classes and tours. Check it out.
