14 Essential Colorado Breweries to Visit in 2022 - AFAR

"This Colorado Springs brewery emphasizes IPAs and Belgian styles and pairs its beers with hearty pub fare—brisket-topped fries and beer-brined honey habañero wings among the options—while serving patrons on a dog-friendly patio near outdoor attractions like Garden of the Gods; when the main taproom fills up, a nearby bike-themed taproom offers the same brews plus guest taps." - Bailey Berg

A destination brewpub where the kitchen matters as much as the taps. Springs Magazine regularly spotlights its food—think brisket grilled cheese, green chile “Colorado poutine”—paired with house beers in a dog-friendly garden on the near Westside.

Cerberus was a great place to stop in for a burger. They also have a wide variety of drink menu here. Great location conveniently located on the corner with street parking plus private parking around back. To my surprise there was a smoker pit going in the rear parking lot today where they smoke their brisket. Such a rare sight these days surprising and pleasant. I was greeted by friendly staff the moment I walked in the door. I definitely felt welcome and at home the entire dining experience. I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger to my surprise came out as a double meat Patty so all I can say is be ready the burgers are big. Great flavor on the burger very Savory with a hint of sweetness and the brioche bun is always my preferred favorite. This restaurant offers outdoor seating and a beer garden as well as indoor seating. This entire facility was very neat organized and clean. I would recommend Cerberus for a great dining experience.

Google
What an amazing place! Unique menu items, outside area for you and your dog. A Bark-cuterie Board for your pup too! Reasonably priced entrees and drinks. Teacher specials on Thursday nights with District ID. Excellent food and excellent service! I’m so impressed!

We stopped in at 11am on a Sunday for brunch. It was moderately busy and we got a seat right away. There were brunch specials but you could also order from the normal menu. Mimosas, Bloody Mary, and Screwdrivers were $6. I got the breakfast poutine skillet (vegetarian version with drunken beans and mushrooms) and my husband got a Cuban with potato wedges. Everything looked delicious when it came out (pretty quickly too) and we were pleasantly surprised by the taste. Firstly I thought the potatoes and drunken beans on my plate were the stars of the show, but it was really the bread. The toast served with my dish and the bread on my husband's sandwhich...wow we will be dreaming about that bread. Service was good and there was plenty of shade to sit in on the patio. Overall we really enjoyed our experience here!

Google
Cerberus Brewery has quickly become one of my favorite places in town, and for good reason. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, laid-back, and full of personality. But what really made our experience unforgettable was the combination of stellar beer, mouthwatering food, and fantastic service. Let’s talk beer first—Drake High End Lager is hands down one of the smoothest, most well-balanced lagers I’ve had in a long time. Crisp, clean, and incredibly drinkable. On the other end of the flavor spectrum, the Mexican OT is bold and unique, with just the right kick. If you like complexity in your brew, don’t skip this one. Now for the food: do not leave without trying the truffle fries or the brisket grilled cheese. Perfectly crispy with just the right amount of truffle oil and parmesan with garlic aioli - absolutely addictive. And a huge shoutout to our server, Cora, who was the cherry on top of an already amazing visit. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations. You can tell she genuinely cares about the guests having a great time. Whether you’re a craft beer enthusiast or just looking for a great place to relax and enjoy amazing food, Cerberus Brewery is a winner. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
Went here after a hike at seven falls and sat on the patio with 2 dogs and 11 people. The service was great and they were super accommodating for our large group and very patient! The beers had great names and tasted even better. A few of us ordered the pink lemonade frozen seltzer and omg it was to die for. The food is also SO good. Between the table we got a good mix of food. Our vegetarian friends loved the smoked tofu grilled cheese and beetwich! We also loved the lamb sliders, smoked brisket grilled cheese, and the Korean bbq chicken sandwich. Our whole group kept saying that we couldn’t wait to come back again and how amazing the food & atmosphere was!

Google
It was our first time here, on a rainy day, but we will definitely be coming back!! Our server, Emily G, was very kind, helpful and knowledgeable about the entire menu!

Google
Simply the best food I’ve ever eaten. Great cocktail options, great beer, service was top notch and the view from the patio was lovely. We are visiting from out of state but it will take convincing to not come back here for dinner tomorrow. Order the lamb sliders, truffle fries and brisket grilled cheese. Thank me later. Shout out to Eric for stopping by and checking on our meal and Kayla for the great service!

Google
They had a nice selection of beer and I felt for a smaller brewpub, the beer was quite good and rivaled any other brewery around town. They had a larger food menu than expected and the food was freshly made. Prices for food were slightly high, but that's understandable consider what groceries cost these days... Service was attentive and friendly. They have a parking lot and on street parking options. There is a large outdoor patio which would be fabulous in the warmer months. They had a projection TV with sports on.

Yelp
Staff was great and welcoming. Just had beer this time. Staff had great knowledge of beer and what to compare it to. Definitely will come back here again!

Yelp
Food is good. My dinner was slightly overcooked, but the cheese ale spaetzel was quite good. The seasonal beets were not to my liking. Service was excellent. Wait person was quite attentive. Ambiance is good. Outside seating looks nice. Inside had good music.

Yelp
I was so busy enjoying the food and beers I forgot to get a few photos. I had the hero protagonist. It was delicious. The friends I was with got a flight and said all of their selection were awesome. We got the Colorado Poutine to share which was amazing. I have never had any app like it. I liked it better than regular poutine. But I am not a huge fan of gravy but I am a lover of cheese and the sauce is a cheese sauce/gravy. We also got the smoked brisket grilled cheese and agin was delicious and I have never had a sandwich that had that flavor composition. It was quite unique. I can't wait to come back and try more beers and food!
google avatar

Yelp
Between my husband and I, we sampled 7 beers and 1 seltzer. Each one was delicious and well done. Additionally the food is great, and they treated our dog so well!

Yelp
I have got to say, I was a little let down by my food at Cerberus. The drink options were tasty, but when it came down to the food I feel like they missed the mark. Starting with the soup dumplings, I was so excited to find a vegetarian soup dumpling, but then I was shocked to see that they didn't contain soup or had any soup served around them. They were actually incredibly dry and overcooked. I then had the beetroot with added smoke tofu and a gluten free bun. I deeply appreciated that they had a smoked tofu option- this sounded amazing. But the tofu was fried and overcooked, and I could barely bite through it because it was so chewy. I had to remove it from the sandwich because it kept pulling out. I then had to remove the beets because these were undercooked and had the same issue. The sandwich had so much potential, but it was missing flavor and the textures made it difficult to eat. Overall the menu sounded amazing, but the execution needs a little love. The gluten free buns were appreciated though!

Yelp
The beer was pretty good! I got a flight and loved the pumpkin and hazy boi. My husband got the Heffe and said it was one of the best he's had. The food was ehh. Definitely the best were the Ruben egg rolls! We both got the brisket grilled cheese which was far too dry. I'm not sure what was happening in the kitchen but the food took forever! We ended up having to eat quickly and then close out to head up to the academy for a game.

Yelp
Could do with less ice to be entirely completely and absolutely 100 percent honest with this review

Yelp
Came here after a long day with my husband and kids and it did not disappoint. The servers were friendly and the food was delish. All the beers we tried were great too. The vibes were chill and friendly. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
Pub atmosphere, cozy and friendly! Our server, Eric, seated us immediately and was very friendly and helpful (loved his handle bar mustache!). We ordered drinks: a Hefeweizen draft deer for the hubby and a Medusa cocktail ($12 centenario plata + cointreau + prickly pear + lime) for me. The Medusa was a gorgeous hot pink, like a dry prickly pear margarita. Delicious and not very sweet. We wanted to try & share a couple of dishes, so we ordered the Reuben Rolls ($15 - corned beef pastrami + beer kraut + swiss + house dressing) & a Smoked Brisket Grilled Cheese ($19 - house smoked brisket + green chili cheese spread + caramelized onion + arugula + sourdough) with a side of Southern Pickled Vegetables. The Ruben Rolls were basically 3 Ruben Egg-rolls, cut in halves on a diagonal, with a delicious house dressing on the side for dipping. The sandwich had lots of incredible smoked brisket (made in-house) and was sooo good! The pickled veggies were VERY vinegary - my husband loved them. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Stopped by for a drink and a snack after visiting Manitou Springs. We got a flight to try some beers. All were good, but the devil in a red dress was outstanding! The beer cheese with pretzels was my favorite from my time in Colorado. The fries were also delicious! They have a great patio, with lots of seating options. I would definitely recommend a stop here!
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
Cool spot on the way back from Manitou Springs with a nice outdoor patio and tented Biergarten area, both dog friendly. Tried a Scottish ale, brown ale, and oatmeal stout. We both agreed we liked the oatmeal stout the best.

Yelp
This is in the top 10 restaurants I've ever been to! Uhhh mazing!!! Poutine is the best I've ever had! One of the best burgers I've ever eaten! And the salmon dish was phenomenal!! Their beer is delicious!! Get a flight and see what you like. The Amber was my favorite! Service was completely on point! Great environment! Just an Awesome place!!
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
The food and drinks were delicious! The outside seating is comfortable and fun. Super pet friendly - they offer a "puppy patty" and a water station!
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
Stopped by before checking out Garden of the Gods for a quick lunch. We split the pub pretzels - the beer cheese and mustard were great accompaniments to the nice and salty pretzel pieces. I enjoyed the seasonal fall harvest salad with pear and goat cheese, and my husband had the Cuban sandwich with a side salad. Portions were perfect and service easy friendly. My husband enjoyed the juicy IPA and kolsch, I am pregnant so just had a Diet Coke but they did have 3 NA beer options from Unfiltered Art available which is always nice to see.
google avatar

Supa S.

Yelp
My server Jenna was super attentive. She suggested the Truffle Pubs and I also got the classic double pub burger and let me tell you.... BOMM.COM The Alcohol beverages was tasty as well
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Parking is a breeze as this brew pub conveniently owns their own lot. Huge outdoor area and roomy enough inside area with lively bar seating as well. They serve your casual pub fare and hard liquor along with their craft beer. I sat at the bar and left the tab open with the intention of trying something else should the first brew prove worthy. Said brew ended up being the Double Dry Hopped Elysium DIPA (54 IBU, 9% ABV). This IPA was anything but worthy and somewhat disappointing for the palate especially as their most highly rated beer on the board (per Untappd). This was pure malt and straight booze with a lingering stale after taste (i.e. the beer was old). At $1 per ounce ($10 for the 10oz pour), it was a hard pill to swallow. Oh, how I yearn for a better brewery but it be all the way in Denver.
google avatar

Will M.

Yelp
Good spot to grab a brew. A lot of their own on tap. They also had a full page cocktail menu which most breweries don't have. Reuben rolls were a bit too crunchy. Wings had a good amount of meat on them. Brisket grill cheese could have a bit better meat to cheese ratio.
google avatar

Cheyenne C.

Yelp
I am mixed on a 4 or a 3 star here! But overall am an optimist when it comes to the restaurant world as so much is day to day change. Servers and staff all come across as very friendly and atmosphere is open area nicely spaced outside. Food is all fresh ingredients and pretty tasty. Strange operationally though - you have to get your own water and although not busy, all parts took a very long time...getting drinks, getting the food, check, etc.
google avatar

Tim S.

Yelp
Was given recommendations to swing by here by some locals we have a lift down the mountain after their marathon. Was quite busy but we waited with a cold beer. Say outside and grabbed some door which was very tasty and well presented.. weather was great so made it even nicer to be outside in the CO sunshine. They had a large private party there and it was pretty busy but overall was a great experience. Will definitely come back when next in Co Sp..

Yelp
Cerberus is my go-to good food and good beer brewery in the Springs. It ranks in my top five for best ramen bowls (Smoked Duck Ramen) and my favorite comfort food (Brisket Grilled Cheese). They always have good beers - both classic styles and experimental (Grandma's Chancla - a Mexican hot chocolate style porter is a good one if you can get it when you're here) I'll be back over and over again.
google avatar

Rich S.

Yelp
Have been in a couple of times over the years. Stopped in for lunch. Cozy but clean. Outdoor seating available. Dog friendly. We shared the brisket grilled cheese with an upgrade to Parmesan garlic fries. Delicious and would order again. But the sandwich and fries came to nearly $25. No drinks. Pricey.

Yelp
Very nice brewery near old Colorado city. Lots of great beer/cocktail and nonalcoholic options as well as tasty appetizers. I came here for the first time recently and really enjoyed myself. The altbier (amber) was robust and flavorful, with a malty finish and low bitterness. The bartender was kind enough to handpick another beer for me based on my preferences which was a saison. Sweet, yet somewhat dry, fruity finish and not as intense as a cider. I enjoyed both tremendously! I also sampled some of the potato wedges and pretzels, both were amazing. The ambiance is fantastic outside by the fire pit. Great place for a casual get together.

Anthony R.

Yelp
Great beer. Just need to season the food. Duck ramen was great smoked duck in a bowl of water. Kids Mac n cheese tasted like a bowl of unseasoned cheese
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Oh, I wish that I could give this place five stars. The ambiance is great, the service is good, and food is delicious. They don't mark their menu for gluten-free, gluten-friendly, or items able to be slightly modified. Cerberus has gluten-free bread. Celebrate it! Cerberus please update your menu! It's frustrating. If the dish is naturally gluten-free or you have an option, mark it, it's not that difficult. This would allow me and others will allergies to review the menu in private and make an informed selection on our own, just like everyone else (instead of being treated like a second-class diner). The Spicy Pork Bahn Mi on gluten-free toast was amazing. You must try it. Really good. It's the sweet spot of not-too-spicy, but spicy enough. I was able to have a plain-jane side salad (topped with roasted chickpeas). And I washed it down with a Schilling Grapefruit Cider. If I'm ever in the area again, I will stop at Cerberus.

Yelp
Solid craft brewery with a good selection and several different styles of beer. Nice outdoor area to enjoy with friends (or your dogs). Friendly enough service. Good location. Ample parking. Festive atmosphere. Worth a visit for all craft beer aficionados .
google avatar

Brad H.

Yelp
Awesome time as always, brought the dog on a rainy day RJ enjoy the coveted patio and we're welcomed with a good Ayer bowl for Ranger, and fresh made treats for the little man. Amazing food as always and a great beer selection. Shared the Breakfast taco special and enjoyed some Rueben rolls. Thanks Chloe for the awesome service!
google avatar

Sammie R.

Yelp
The food was good but VERY pricy... The environment was just what you look for in a brewery. However I was disappointed they were out of a lot of their beers. The service was also very slow considering there were lots of staff around.
google avatar

Erika C.

Yelp
Great food, beer and environment. It was family friendly but could also be a nice date spot. The service was very good as well.
google avatar

Kiana A.

Yelp
The food and brews were great! We enjoyed the dog friendly environment and our pup even enjoyed a puppy patty! The waitresses were so sweet and kind.

Christine R.

Yelp
I enjoy their beer and the patio. The kitchen has gone downhill fast. Wait times are insane for anything. I worked in restaurants for 20 years and I have a lot of patience but I was told at 12:30 they were out of multiple items, then ordered something I didn't want bc I was hungry after a hike and after waiting a crazy long time they sent out a dry burger with no sauce and cold mushrooms. Sent back. Servers are wonderful and I'm sorry they have to tolerate this. I may go back for a drink or two but I won't be eating there anymore. This has happened too many times. Bummer.

Justin B.

Yelp
Good food, the brisket grilled cheese is great, the Ruben egg rolls are ok. The burger is good, but the ketchup and BBQ are weird, the Cuban is the best that I ever had! Good beer selection, good service, good atmosphere!
google avatar

Bev C.

Yelp
The place to go if you have guests in town. Cerberus offers great beers (Elysius if you like hoppy ones) and other drinks if you so chose. The food is amazing. Reuben egg rolls, lamb sliders, brisket grilled cheese, So Co burger was my choice tonight and I loved it. A lamb burger. Don't like lamb? It doesn't taste like it! Much better then beef! The Shashito peppers are so flavorful. Sad I had to share them! Served with Mayo and a hot sauce so the flavor could be as spicy as you like. We left stuffed and took some home besides.
google avatar

Phil J.

Yelp
This brewery is amazing! If you like IPAs get the Elysium!! Also, check out the tap room across the street 7's Gate! They have 20 beers on tap and many bottles and cans from around the world. Incredible!
google avatar

Michelle I.

Yelp
Came for a quick beer with a friend, was not disappointed! Beer came highly recommended by locals that we met at other breweries. Tomahawk phoenix sour was my favorite sour I've tried at any brewery in the springs! Our bartender Myles was sweet and attentive.
google avatar

Cynthia V.

Yelp
We came here after visiting nearby Garde on the Gods and enjoyed their outdoor beer garden space. Most of the tables were taken by folks enjoying the nice weather accompanied by friends and pooches alike. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and helpful with food and beer recommendations. I got their pilsner and it was very good, not too harsh or hoppy. For my meal I enjoyed their classic burger - it was an elevated, well-executed take on your typical burger with fresh lettuce, delicious melty cheese, and a perfectly cooked ground beef patty, all served with huge potato wedge fries. There is a small parking lot located behind the main building, otherwise some nearby street parking is available.
google avatar

Bob T.

Yelp
A delightful neighborhood restaurant and bar. They have a great selection of beers and an eclectic set of menu offerings that are almost certain to please just about everyone. There's a huge outside seating area, and the inside isn't bad if the weather isn't cooperating. Our Niece and Nephew, who live in town, picked this place out. They go there a lot. And now, we will too, whenever we're in town again.
google avatar

Kourtney E.

Yelp
To start, we walked in and weren't acknowledged by anyone despite the "Wait for the host to be seated" sign. Once the host did greet us, he barely said a word to us as he brought us to our table outside. The horrible service from the hosts almost made us leave and it took awhile to get served at all but once we did, we were SO HAPPY. Kayla (our server) was amazing and every beer we tried was so good. We will be back for sure for the beer garden and the friendly waitress -- but this is 4 stars because of our first 10 minutes there.
google avatar

Ross H.

Yelp
It's good but it could be great. The beer is very good and the staff is super friendly. Great Atmosphere as well with good music. The food could be better, I had a special of potato soup and a bbq sandwich. Sandwich was great but the potato soup was a little sour, not sure if prepared that day but it wasn't great. Overall a great place to grab a beer.
google avatar

Rebecca K.

Yelp
One of our all time favorite breweries in springs. We don't live on that side it town but frequently find our self's driving out. Their beer is awesome. And the pretzel knots and smoked brisket grilled Cheese is beyond worth it!!!
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
Cerberus is THE place to go in Colorado Springs for Fantastic Beer, Fantastic View, Fantastic Service. Do Not Pass Cerberus By! Most importantly the beers are FANTASTIC! Whatever you favorites are...they've got. And if by chance they don't Peyton the manager will recommend according to your tastes! A Cherry Belgian was THE beer! Service was FANTASTIC! Aside from Peyton...Olivia was just so EXCELLENT as our server. So kind, so nice, so helpful, so "EVERYTHING" Atmosphere, Vibe, Chill, Enjoyment...just a few adjectives to describe Cerberus!
google avatar

Mandy T.

Yelp
Terrible service! The "manager" (come to find out is the shift supervisor) is horribly rude, condescending and very unaccommodating. (In an empty restaurant) Felt bad for the wait staff, who tried to help and offer great solutions, but all was shut down due to the shift supervisors ego. Won't be back
google avatar

Kyra B.

Yelp
Loved this spot! After it was recommended to us by our broista at Dutch bros coffee, we headed straight here for lunch. A great variety of vegetarian options and different types of beers! Genuinely the best cauliflower bites I have had in years. A fun atmosphere that was laid back and casual that our group needed after traveling all day. Definitely a spot I would visit again in the future!
google avatar

Jim L.

Yelp
So far, this is my favorite brewery patio in town. I know I still have a lot more to try. But so far, this is it. Great, friendly service. Delicious food choices. And incredible beer options!
google avatar

Jana G.

Yelp
Great location with an inviting patio. Food is fabulous and servers are very helpful with matching a beer to your tastes!
google avatar

George G.

Yelp
Lunch was great so was the service, however, once a again our server Kate S added a 20% gratuity even after I gave her 120 dollars in cash without disclosing the policy. Pretty crappy thing to do,to put me out 200 dollars.
google avatar

Lynne A.

Yelp
Love everything about Cerberus- food is delicious, unique. Service is always spot on. This is a fun and a happy place to eat and they are dog friendly what's not to love
google avatar

Colin G.

Yelp
Interesting food menu, very nice space, good beer selection. They had a little window over the operations and that was cool to see. Off-menu kids options were pretty good. The beer all had this same odd yeast flavor to it, from the ESB to the tripel, and I would assume it's just the yeast they use. I don't know. It added a unique flavor to the saison but was pretty weird on the ESB. It would be great to come here with good weather though so I would come back.
google avatar

Rose M.

Yelp
i went her with my daughter and it was so much fun good food times and beer i only thing that I didn't really like was all the kids around but what6 you goanna do
google avatar

Jordann H.

Yelp
Great beers, great patio, and good food! Highly recommend the wings and Cesar salad, and grabbing a lager on the patio. Dog friendly as well!
