The 23 Best Restaurants In Providence - Providence - The Infatuation

"This breezy cafe located near Brown University serves teas from across Asia, in addition to cocktails, natural wine, fun iced and hot drink creations, and snacks. The best way to experience the breadth and depth of their offerings is to take part in a tea ceremony. This requires a special reservation that gets you an intimate tasting experience led by a tea apprentice, and doubles as a calming break from the swarms of tourists visiting Thayer Street and Brown. But if you’re just looking to switch up your morning caffeine routine, you can still stop by and order a cup of tea, or perhaps an iced strawberry matcha latte with a giant gummy bear. Stop by is the key word here—it’s tough to find a table, and you might have to fight off some students to get one." - grace kelly

New England’s Best Teahouses | Eater Boston

"Ceremony teahouse and retail shop on the east side of Providence, Rhode Island, just around the corner from the Brown University bookstore, sources loose-leaf tea from small farmers in China, Taiwan, and Japan. Warm up with a matcha latte and a bowl of congee, or schedule a personalized tasting in the peaceful private tea ceremony room. For a quick cup, pop by Ceremony’s mini location on Brook Street." - Stasia Brewczynski

The 33 Best Restaurants in Providence, Rhode Island - Eater

"Michelle Cheng, who grew up in China before moving to Rhode Island at age 13, got her start in beverages by selling ethically sourced high-quality teas from China, Taiwan, and Japan through her wholesale business, Leafy Green. In 2019, she expanded her business into Ceremony, a modern tea house where you can book a tea ceremony to taste through the oolongs and senchas on offer, or pop by to pick up a hand-whisked strawberry matcha latte to go. The cafe recently added alcohol, including natural wine, sake, and makgeolli." - Jenna Pelletier

I ordered the iced latte with the espresso bear and it was honestly one of the best coffees I’ve had in Rhode Island. The teddy bear was such a cute and creative touch. The café is clean, hygienic, and has a great seating setup, making it perfect for both solo visits and catching up with friends. Highly recommend stopping by Ceremony College Hill!

Came on a Saturday and location is in a quiet area I feel like? Found parking quite easily. The matcha was delicious and the order came out very quick. I would come to try their other flavor matcha.

The matcha was terrible, the matcha wasn't mixed well, full of clumps, the color and visual was nice, my friends ordered matcha sparkly peach and it was terrible, she said it tasted bitter, even after adding five packs of sweetner it was terrible. We ordered lemonade matcha and it was terrible. Overall I do not recommend this matcha place, even starbucks matcha tastes better,a nd I'm saying this as a matcha girl with a matcha station at home. The matcha tastes bland and has no flavor.

Too crowded and loud to really sit and enjoy, but the strawberry matcha was phenomenal. I’d come back to RI just to try the other drinks- the menu is pretty extensive with really interesting combos like lavender hojicha, would recommend taking a look at the online menu!

Japanese cafe with amazing drinks and unique treats. A friend from Brown told me this was the best café in Providence, so my friend and I had to check it out. We stopped by for some light desserts and drinks and went with the strawberry matcha and black sesame latte, and both were fantastic. One of the coolest things? They hand-grind every matcha order in a stone bowl, which makes it taste smoother and more aromatic. The strawberry matcha was perfectly balanced—not overloaded with syrup, just a light glaze in the bottom half of the cup, giving it the perfect sweetness (just like in Japan). The black sesame latte was also amazing. Most places in the U.S. make them sweet, but this one had almost zero sugar, which highlighted the pure nuttiness and roasted depth of the black sesame. As for the sweets, we went with the taro pastry and the sweet soy dango. While they might not be as indulgent as the roll cakes or babka, they were perfect little bites. I especially loved the dango. When paired with the strawberry matcha, the chewy, bouncy texture made it feel like I was sipping on a matcha bubble tea. Such a fun combo. Highly recommend giving them a try if you’re in Providence. Just a heads-up—on weekends, students start lining up around opening to snag a table, so finding a spot to sit and relax might be tricky.

The strawberry in the Strawberry Matcha Latte was the best part of the drink because it tasted very fresh. The matcha itself was just okay; I felt like you could taste the matcha shortage. The teddy bear was cute but didn’t add anything to the drink flavor-wise, so it’s not worth the extra $2.75 if you don’t care for it. The inside of the store is nice. I liked the ceramics and merchandise that were for sale.

In town for the weekend, so had to stop at Ceremony! The strawberry matcha was so good, and I added a strawberry teddy to it. My partner got the ceremony latte which was very different, but the black sesame was actually really good! Would stop by again to try other flavors!

Ordered strawberry matcha and feta bureka. Both foods were very delicious and the strawberry matcha was a good balance between sweet and rich flavors. Staff were very kind and service was prompt. Ambiance is good, moderately loud — good for chatting, and very nice for productive work.
