C'est la vie

"This restaurant is dedicated to the French way of life. As you sit comfortably at your table in the stylish modern interior, looking out through the floor-to-ceiling windows, the dedicated team can be seen in the open kitchen, cooking up modern interpretations of really ambitious dishes, such as "Crevette – prawn, courgette, bergamot" or "Bœuf – beef two ways, chanterelles, potato". The creations are organised into two set menus, one of which is vegetarian, and accompanied by exclusively French wines; these are charmingly and skilfully presented at your table with the aid of a map. The wines can also be purchased in the shop. Tip: There is parking in the garage right next door." - Michelin Inspector

I’m not a food critic. I’m just an ordinary guy who wanted to take his wife out for an elegant dinner and try something new. And oh boy, did we experience something new. C’est la Vie Leipzig is exactly that kind of place where those small, artistically presented dishes are served. If you’ve never been to a place like this, or you’re looking for somewhere special to take your girlfriend or wife – go there. You’ll thank me later. You don’t come here just to eat. You come here to experience. Trust the waiters, let them guide you, and allow yourself to be led through this spectacle of pleasure. The chef has something to say through his work – you just have to let yourself discover it on the plate. Four courses, with appetizers, turn into three blissful hours filled with emotion – hours best spent with someone close to you, because that makes the whole experience even deeper and more beautiful. Together with my wife, we discovered a new form of art. And you won’t truly understand it – just like you can’t understand riding a bike or kissing someone you love – until you’ve lived it yourself. This kind of cuisine can truly touch you. Thank you to the entire C’est la Vie Leipzig team for taking such great care of us and letting us discover something new.

Very friendly and professional service and great food. Every dish is well prepared. The wine list French centric and provides a good choice. I think they are on their way to the first star.

Very nice place. Probably the best food that I have tried in Leipzig. The atmosphere though is a little too sterile and old-fashioned for me. The cuttlery is old and cheap and for a Michellin star restaurant I expected something more. The service was also not at the high level that I expected. If you want to spend this amount of money, I will recommend the place only for the good food.

I like the food and service there. The waiters and waitresses tried their best to speak English with me (which is not common in Leipzig). I very much appreciated it.

A BIG thank you to the C'est la vie restaurant for saving our New Years Eve. We arrived in Leipzig without a dinner reservation. C'est la vie Responded to our online dinner reservation request and we had a wonderful time. The staff is first rate and the food w/wine pairing was outstanding. I recommend C'est la vie without hesitation!

C'est la vie is my favorite French restaurant outside of France. While perhaps one or two two- or three-starred Michelin restaurants in Paris may have had slightly more memorable food, the overall experience of the warm welcome, outstanding food and wine, and professional yet friendly service make this an outstanding restaurant. The fish and seafood dishes are particularly exemplary. Like most outstanding French restaurants, dinner is a three-hour or so affair, so plan to make an evening of it. The staff speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable about the food and wine choices. With a four-course price of 80 Euros, C'est la vie delivers outstanding value. In my opinion, dinner here alone is well worth a trip to Leipzig, though the city offers several other attractions to warrant a visit.

This place is a beautiful gem in Leipzig. The interior is elegant and inviting, yet not stiff. The size of the restaurant is neither too big nor too small, it has a nice sense of familiarity. We ordered the Menü Amélie (one of three available menus), and each dish tasted phenomenal and was beautifully arranged with precision; as we could look into the kitchen a bit, we found that the cooks partially used tweezers to arrange the plate. The wine went excellent with the different dishes, and the sommelière explained more about its origin. The personnel was kind and very attentive, yet no too formal. We would like to thank the restaurant for a wonderful experience and we will surely come again.

Yelp
C'est la vie is by a wide margin the best fine dining restaurant in Leipzig that I have been to. We've been to Falco (2 Michelin Stars), which was at most a 1 Star performance. Granted, we were at Falco between Christmas and New Years Eve, when the A Team in restaurants tends to be on vacation We have been to just about every highly-rated restaurant in Leipzig. Max Enk (good wines, but just OK food), Mifune (novice, if not incompetent, Teppanyaki), etc. Sadly, there aren't a great many fine dining choices in Leipzig. Leipzig appears to be a culinary wasteland. Or so I thought. C'est la vie showed creativity and flavor that will hold up anywhere. I use Yelp a lot, but I don't write a lot of reviews. This restaurant wasn't even in Yelp and it most positively deserves a review. The foie gras, one of my staple dishes, was inspired. The pheasant cooked in spiced milk was prefect. The amuse bouche deserves an honorable mention. The sommelier was knowledgeable and patient. The potato essence soup was plain divine. Never had anything like it and I have been to more Michelin stars and Top 50 restaurants than I can count. Minus points for the bread and the first wine, both of which were boring. The latter might be due to the fact that our group had a bottle of Champagne prior, but the sommelier needs to take prior beverage consumption into account when selecting wines. Bottom line: clear Michelin 1 Star performance and utterly incomprehensible that this restaurant wasn't even listed on Yelp. Fixed.
