If I can give 0 stars I would. Today at 6:20pm i went to order to go food. It was my first time. I paid over $70 still have my receipt, well let me tell you I was very VERY unhappy when I got home. I waited for more than 30 min for my order. And just look at the pictures it says it all. I didn’t get a pound of shrimp and I sure as hell didn’t get a pound of snow crab legs. I ordered shrimp cocktail and I got an order that was smaller than my hand, and just FYI I’m 5’0 so you can imagine my hand is small. And to top it off owner asked me if I was being helped and he acted like he was when he wasn’t doing anything, at least that’s what it looked like.

Google
I loved the service! They were on top of it, check on everyone and made you feel very welcomed. The food was great, so were the drinks!! I tried the Tito's in Ranch Water & Shrimp Ceviche- yum!

Google
Delicious and unpretentious Mexican seafood. We ordered the octopus tostada (delightful), oysters (huge), and the mixed ceviche (life changing). This is worth the stop.

Stephanie Campbell

Google
Some of the best ceviche I have had right here. I will be back for that alone. Nice patio area, great atmosphere.

Amy Durant

Google
Shrimp ceviche tostada was flavorful. Grilled trout was delicious. Fun patio setting with misters to keep us cool. Friendly service.

Todd Durant

Google
Fast service, expertly fried large shrimp, the grilled trout was a large portion with grilled veggies and white rice. Happy hour drinks at $6. Great value!

I went here for Labor Day weekend and it was so lit! Drinks, food, music was a great atmosphere. The drinks were really good. Try the Pepino drink! Omg delicious! And the Paloma Mule 💕

Google
Had the mixed ceviche , mind you I've never really like ceviche but Wow!!! It tasted Amazing ! And the people are nice and attentive. Their fries are really good too.

Yelp
So good and authentic! Don't miss out on this place! We had the oysters, aguachile, and beef fajita taco! All so yum!

Yelp
My personal experience here: Quick and friendly service, great and authentic Mexican seafood (cocktails) and fair prices. I'll definitely be coming back soon.

Yelp
Stop by real quick with a buddy. It was kinda late so didn't think the kitchen was still open but it was. Asked the waitress 2 shrimp tacos and a fish taco. Had 2 beers and didn't think the tacos were gonna be as good as they were the shrimp tacos were 4 dollars and the fish was 3. Let me tell you I was wrong the presentation was great for the tacos.l and the tacos were phenomenal. Shrimp taco 8 out 10 good Fiah taco 8 outa 10 good For the 12 dollars I dropped it was great. I would come back again and try the other ones Sorry ate tacos so fast didn't take a picture

Yelp
Food was ok. Nothing particularly amazing, especially for the price. I had the shrimp boil with sausage, corn, and two small potato's. I asked for spicy and my sis for extra spicy. Our waitress mixed our orders. Nephew had pasta and it was tasty. Found the cocktails pricey for a restaurant bar which they took long to make. Service was extra poor. Our waitress did the minimum (probably because we had a party of 6 and tip was included). Never came to check on us and we had to consistently call her over - for water, drinks, utensils, etc. She seemed annoyed and hardly exchanged words in any of the interactions. It wasn't busy either. The only time she asked if we needed anything else was 5 mins before we were done. The ambiance was ok. One big TV streaming college football in the main area.

Yelp
It is just a nice place to go with your loved ones or friends. Friendly staff, service could be better but the food is rewarding and delicious.

Yelp
El Gordo Seafood in Bishop Arts District is a little-known secret that you're sure to enjoy when you visit! The authenticity and the atmosphere of this business is will take you away on a beach vacation without a care in the world! I strongly advise that you ask Jose (one of the most humble and kind restaurant owners in all of DFW) for his signature special, the "Jose's Way!" (*limited to 2 per day*). Sure to be the next go-to sidewalk bar counter drink in the area - easy to walk up and grab a drink and deliciously authentic Mexican seafood. One or two of these drinks will set you off on an adventure, you've been warned! Araceli was our server and did an absolutely incredible job making us feel welcome from the first step we took through the door. Give them a visit one evening and enjoy the experience.

Yelp
Great tacos! Service was great and the aguachiles was fresh and flavorful! Definitely going to back!

Jannie D.

Yelp
Ordered calamari they looked like crumbs and were hard as a rock. Ordered house margarita tasted nothing but pineapple juice. Not worth it.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Excellent bar program. Cocktails were balanced and served in neat glasses and terra cotta pottery. Definitely order the aguachile. Each batch is made to order and the flavor is incredible: fresh cucumbers, lime, jalapeño, cilantro, is your mouth watering yet? Half the table ordered without shrimp and was not disappointed. This dish is one of El Godro's star recipes. The boils were great. The Cajun pasta was amazing. Portions are huge. Ambience indoors is good. The restaurant was very clean, overall the experience was very good. Service could have been a little more friendly but the staff was very good. When it is not 110* F we will sit on the patio, they have a great outdoor seating area that looks perfect for people watching and late night drinks. We came two precious times but decided to keep walking - sometimes they have a DJ outside that makes conversation impossible. We will definitely be back, the food was excellent!

Lauren L.

Yelp
Tasty tasty tasty! I ordered the seafood pasta and it was delicious! Creamy sauce and freshly made! He ordered Fajitas Molcajete, which are sizzling fajitas with all the meats! The carne was a little over done, but everything else was very good. Vampiro couldn't make up its mind if it wanted to be sour or salty. Paloma a was a better choice drink wise. Come check them out!

Yelp
Horrible service and outrageous fees added to our tab! We got charged a 18% gratuity for sitting at the bar and $3 service credit card fee that was never told to us and the prices on the menu are all wrong and don't match the receipt prices. $8 in taxes were also added and do not add up to state regulations. We split a wing appetizer and had a few drinks and our tab was $103 dollars!!!

Sean N.

Yelp
Food was great, but we didn't plan on having to wait almost an hour to get it. Not sure where the breakdown was, but we didn't have that kind of time to spare before a concert at the Kessler. Basically got our food, had to wolf down what we could in 2 minutes and put the rest in to-go box. The place was not busy at all. I guess I'd recommend if you've got nowhere to be and don't mind having several cocktails before dinner. If you are on a schedule, steer clear.

Yelp
Terrible food, and staff was unprofessional. If there was a zero star review, this would be it. The shrimp on the ceviche tasted days old - it melted in my mouth and there was an aftertaste. It needed a lot of seasoning/lime, but we didn't care to fix it - it was gross. The rice looked like a microwaveable Ben's Ready Rice, it was hard and didn't taste like Mexican rice at all. The blackened fish was watery and oily at the same time, you could tell it was cooked frozen - the taste didn't make up for it either. The server did her best to be nice but there was a gentleman on the phone cursing and using the N word while toting a container of dishes (we knew he worked there). The cook looked distraught, didn't acknowledge the food that we sent back, and he was sweating all over the place. Just not a great look to be walking around the dining area. I was so excited to check this place out, being a new Mariscos spot in Bishop Arts, but this was easily my worst meal experience of the year by far.

Yelp
The bartenders smh...we order 2 double tequila shots, it was presented to us in ice, we weren't even asked how we wanted and talk about the overcharge (60$)? Tried to get the bartenders attention but it seems she was too busy trying to milk some fellow patrons. It looked like she used most of our order to make the other patrons sitting at the bar complimentary drinks

Maria O.

Yelp
Caldo de marisco is excellent and the #2 Bag boil combo was good too. The only thing I can say from 1st time we went and todays visit, getting a waitress you have to flag one or say hey when you see one to get a refill, napkins or anything else.

Jenny D.

Yelp
A Hidden Gem!! The best fried shrimp & catfish I have ever tasted! The restrooms are clean, super friendly staff and a spacious patio. The parking is not ideal, but the food is so good, a walk after eating here would do a body good.

Tony C.

Yelp
I normally don't rate places but how disappointing this place was. The food was alright and if I had to go back I would only order the ceviche and the sopa de camarón but I have had way better of both. The service was unfortunately not good at all as the server did not give us service as we had to go looking for her. The worst part is that our food took about 1:30. Sorry El Gordo but you need to work on your service and food especially the timely manner of when your food comes out. I definitely would not visit this place again unless they improved the level of service. By the way I spend 2 bills and not worth the high bill. I did enjoy the music as it did make me feel like I was with mi jente.

Bianca Z.

Yelp
The flavor of the shrimp boil and crawfish was so bomb! Great music, great vibes. Araceli the bartender was the sweetest. Drinks were really good! Can't wait to go back.

Tara C.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to try a new seafood place a little bit of a drive for us but turned out wonderful. Lexi took care of us and was so sweet. Great personality and continually checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Also was checked on by other employees. The aquachili was perfect and had great spice. The boiled crawfish were the cleanest I have ever had at a restaurant. Can't wait to try more.

Jordan R.

Yelp
The worst service I have ever had at seafood joint in the entire state of Texas. Not only did they ROB me of my time, which everyone knows we cannot get back, they took my order and after 30 mins of waiting Mia my server brought us nothing but an Excuse. Coincidentally her Father owns the joint....Thankfully they realized their mistake and comped our drinks. I give this place 1/5 stars until the someone contacts me and makes this right.

Beverley J.

Yelp
Lexi..was incredible! She was kind a patient during a very busy service The food was amazing especially the shrimp boil.. Loved everything Thank you Lexi!!

Eugenia A.

Yelp
Owner/Manager has a lousy attitude. Stay away from it! Food was just ok. They charge a service fee and service is not great to begin with. Zero stars.

Haley C.

Yelp
This is a great little place! We had one of their seafood boils, and it was delicious. Our server Lexi was super sweet and made sure we had what we needed. Would love to come back and try more of the menu!

Sean F.

Yelp
Great place for loud music late at night when you want to sleep. Truly a special experience when you get up at 5am!

Bianca R.

Yelp
Noel and Araceli always give great service. Food never disappoints and the drinks are great. Definitely recommend the Paloma.

Aime M.

Yelp
Love coming to this place! Food & service is great! Vale & Samuel were great host & servers

Edward M.

Yelp
Excited to try this place when it first opened. Finally got a chance to try it this week and the seasoning on the crawfish was great! The owner even let us try an upcoming item on the menu, "prepared oysters". Excited to go back when they are added on the menu.

Daniel M.

Yelp
Shrimp boils and crawfish are my go to here. Service is prompt. The patio and music on a sunny day will make you feel like you're near a beach.

Samantha J.

Yelp
Really good seafood. Service was amazing! We had an assortment of the dishes since our group was large and there's not one I didn't love. My favorite so far is the honey glazed salmon. Try their signature drinks full of flavor and and just the right amount of alcohol.

V M.

Yelp
Seafood boil #4 was good... it's out 3rd time here. Good to have a good spot in the neighborhood. Lexi provided great service

David G.
