First time here, and it was a huge disappointment, especially since it was our anniversary. We're locals, not tourists, and had a 5:30 reservation but got stuck in Friday traffic. We called ahead to let them know we'd be a little late and arrived at 5:45. When we checked in, the host greeted us with, "Oh, you're late," and mentioned they had a reservation coming in at 7:30, as if we were being timed from the start.
Once seated, the rush began immediately. We were barely in our seats when the server asked for drink orders. We asked for a minute to look at the menu, but exactly one minute later, she was back, pushing us to order. Feeling pressured, we hurriedly picked drinks. Just as we started browsing the menu and discussing appetizers, the server dropped off our drinks and asked if we were ready to order food. We weren't, so we asked again for a little more time. In another minute, she returned, asking once more. I tried to explain that it was our first time there and asked for recommendations, to which she replied, "Literally everything is good." Not helpful.
Rushed and anxious, we panicked and ordered an empanada and salsa to start. The appetizers came out almost immediately, and we were once again asked what entrees we wanted to order--despite only being there for about 15 minutes. The constant pressure to order made the whole experience stressful and uncomfortable.
By the time we signed the check and left, it was 6:25. We were seated, had drinks, appetizers, and entrees, and were out the door within 45 minutes--without ever having a chance to relax and enjoy the meal. The restaurant wasn't even busy; there was just one other couple in the dining room, so the rush made no sense.
We had hoped for a special, leisurely anniversary dinner, but instead, we felt unwelcome and rushed from start to finish. The food was good, but the service ruined the experience. If this is how they flip tables, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxed, enjoyable meal in Wilmington.
