"Opened over 30 years, this restaurant has three branches on one street. Head to the most popular, at 6B: a pale-yellow, century-old townhouse accessible via a quaint courtyard. The menu stars chả cá, deboned Hemibagrus catfish (cá lăng), seasoned with turmeric, wrapped in banana leaves and grilled. Served in a hot pot, it is lightly stir-fried with spring onions and herbs – best enjoyed with rice noodles and fish sauce." - Michelin Inspector

Our Favorite Dishes From a Year of Travel - AFAR

"A Hanoi specialist where cha ca is the sole focus: turmeric- and dill-coated catfish is fried at the table on a burner, then assembled over rice noodles with fish sauce, peanuts and fresh herbs. The theatrical, hands-on preparation and deeply flavorful result make it an unforgettable, authentic rendition of the dish." - AFAR Editors

This is One of the Best Dishes in Vietnam That's Not Pho - AFAR

"A traditional rendition of the classic cha ca presented in a spacious dining room in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, offering the familiar turmeric-seasoned fish with the usual accompaniments in a more formal sit-down setting." - David Farley

This is totally tourist scam, you come sit in, no menu, they just straight away bring the food to you and they told u to pay 320 thousand dong. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR GOOD CHA CHA THANG LONG, this is not it, the real one is at duong thanh street with an alley to get in, restaurants are also look proper, Be carefull there are many scams

Not a fan. You enter the shop, sit down and there's no menu. They'll just bring out a hot plate with a serving of fish, onion and dill per person. We like to have small portions at each place so we can try more food elsewhere; and didn't know this was their structure until after they brought out the food. Way too much spring onion. Fish was also wayyyyy too fatty for my liking. And we saw a bug fly out one of the purple sauce they gave us. The vermicelli was already on the table when we sat down which wasn't reassuring... was it there from the previous diners? Were their chopsticks going into the same vermicelli which was now left for us?

Definitely came highly recommended in Hanoi, and the FOOD did not disappoint. The Cha Ca (grilled catfish in dill and turmeric) was incredible!! Definitely a language barrier as NO ONE spoke English at all, but we made it work and glad we did. They forgot our fish spring rolls and we had to ask 2x. They were delicious and the wait staff showed us how to prepare our meals and eat them. Great experience overall!

Beware not to go to the wrong shop with the name “Cha Ca La Uong” (the one next to A25 Hotel). We went to this look alike shop because the wrong shop photo and location was pinned on Google map and we got scammed - the food at this lookalike shop with a brownish red signboard next to A25 Hotel, with the black cast iron pan tasted horrible. Refer to Cha Ca Thang Long’s website for actual location, they also put up an announcement on their website regarding this.

The real michelin store with the same name is at the address starting with 6B. This restaurant is more expensive than the michelin restaurant. Food not as nice as the other place as well.

This restaurant serves a single option which is fish on a hot plate to share on the table with some noodles. 170k / person.

Fish was fatty, not to our taste. And overall cleanliness could be better
