Shiny, golden Chada is a West Village date night win - Review - New York - The Infatuation

"Not all good restaurants are beautiful. Not all beautiful restaurants are good. But Chada, a West Village Thai spot that’s perfect for date nights, sits right in the middle of that Venn diagram. With design details that wouldn’t feel out of place in either a Buddhist temple or a club, the restaurant is gorgeous—all gold accents and dark wood. Expect equally beautiful presentations on your plate. The delicately folded pandan dumplings look like green tissue paper. They’re very good, and the beef tartare is even better. Ribboned with shallots and generously sprinkled with toasted rice powder, it’s like a wonderful, raw preparation of larb. These starters are a little more exciting than the mains we’ve tried (a couple of which were overcooked), though every bite of the spicy pork krapow starts crisp and finishes juicy. Soothe your palate with the Lost in Chada, a clarified punch of Thai tea and Suntory whiskey finished with a hit of grapefruit smoke. photo credit: Atiwat Mondee photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick photo credit: Gene Aquino photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick Pause Unmute" - Molly Fitzpatrick

This place deserves more than five stars. Cannot wait to come back. The mushroom spring rolls w truffle were so so delicious. The red curry on the duck is out of this world. Chicken vermicelli and crab Rangoon, delectable. Great, unique and inventive cocktails too. Best Thai food I’ve ever had.

I had an amazing experience at this Thai restaurant! The food was incredibly flavorful and authentic. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the presentation was beautiful. Benny was friendly and attentive, making us feel very welcome. The atmosphere was cozy, clean, and comfortable — a great place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. Highly recommended if you’re looking for real Thai flavors and excellent service. I will definitely come back again!

Chada is a gorgeous restaurant that could get 4-5 stars from the atmosphere and service. However, with crunchy pad thai noodles and overcooked fish, I could not give higher than 3 stars, because at the end of the day, food matters most. The pros: Probably one of the best decor and fixtures of any Thai restaurant I’ve been to. The most impressive feature is the entire ceiling is covered in hammered copper sheets. It reflects the warm lighting and really compresses the space, making it feel cozy but vibrant. The service as also perfect. Sonia was a wonderful waitress who was spot on with her drink recommendations, and was always around when we needed her but never hovering. The cons: For $21 pad Thai, I expect good pad thai but it doesn’t need to be the best I’ve ever had. It however, cannot have undercooked noodles. When multiple bites have a unexpected crunchy treat, I think it’s probably one of the worst pad Thais I’ve had in the $20-$25 range. The steamed bronzino was better, but still a disappointment. It was overcooked, but deboned and cleaned well. I’d recommend Chada if you want pretty good drinks, and an amazing atmosphere.

Chada is a gem. Easily one of the most elegant and exciting Thai restaurants in NYC right now. The name Chada refers to a traditional Thai headdress, and the vibe here fully lives up to that—graceful, refined, and full of character. Every dish was beautifully executed. Highlights from our dinner: • Crab curry – rich, spicy, unforgettable. • Fried branzino – crispy outside, tender inside, with a killer sauce. • Crispy pork, ribeye steak, and folded dumplings were all standouts. • We also loved the miang tartlets, beef tartare, and even the bold raw crabs—not for everyone, but packed with flavor. Drinks were just as thoughtful. Highly recommend the Coco Thai Tea (a dreamy, grown-up Thai iced tea) and Lost in Chada, their signature cocktail. The service was warm and attentive, and the space is stylish but not overdone. Perfect for a date night or a treat-yourself evening. 📍If you’re craving Thai with soul, elegance, and serious flavor—go to Chada. 📸 Follow @notsoniaa on Instagram for more food & lifestyle picks!

When you first walk in, it is so nice! What I did not like is, none of the dishes could be customized. That being said, kinda pricy for standard plates. The taro fritters good, were only 2 pieces, and not worth the steep price. There is only one vegetarian curry, and also a steep price. My mother is vegetarian, so we asked if we could make the other curries veg, and was told no. I asked if we could get add garlic or shallots in the fried rice, was told no. So have to give credit for the beef brisket off the summer special menu. Overall, was not impressed, presentation was great! But the food was light on the flavors, but just didn't like that nothing could have been considered to make little modifications here and there. Oh wait, forgot to add. Told them it was my mom's birthday, probably the first restaurant where I couldn't even get a candle on the two desserts I ordered. It was like a factory in there, just wanted to get you in and out as fast as possible.

I’m a Thai food lover and travel to Thailand often so it was great for me to find a good restaurant with an authentic Thai taste. It didn’t disappoint me. We tried these dishes: Papaya Salad Tom Yum Khao Soy Pad Thai Pork Jowl Chicken Skin Crab Curry Short Rib Panang Curry Beef Tallow Fried Rice Mango with Sticky Rice I absolutely loved the Khao Soy, Beef Tallow Fried Rice and Tom Yum. I would definitely recommend anyone to try these first. Along with the amazing food, we loved the decoration of the restaurant and the atmosphere is just right. The staff are super friendly which is a Thai thing I guess haha

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! This Thai restaurant is a hidden gem. The flavors are incredibly authentic—rich, balanced, and beautifully presented. I had the sweet cord salad and crab curry, both of which were absolutely delicious. The spice level was just right, and the ingredients tasted fresh and high quality. The staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home( his name is Boy ) Cozy atmosphere with beautiful decor that transports you straight to Thailand. Can’t wait to come back!

Spacious, beautiful, and relaxing new Thai spot in the West Village. The service staff is friendly and accommodating towards all their customers, and helped me to look for my sunglasses when I left them buried in the comfortable fabric chair that I was sitting in (oops!). We started off with the salted egg yolk calamari, which tapped well into my Singaporean tastes. I’d use that dipping sauce for other foods any day. The papaya salad tasted very fresh, and if you’re still craving the salted egg yolk flavor, guess what - it’s topped with one! Finally, the beef tallow fried rice was our main, and each slice was perfectly cooked to tenderness and crispiness. I was a huge fan of the dipping sauce, which we ended up pouring over everything so that the flavor could really come through. Wonderful experience with a great owner! Will definitely come back and try some more of the dishes.
