Chago’s Re-Opens in Belmont with New Interiors and Menu - Eater Nashville

"After closing in 2022, Chago’s Belmont Cantina has re-opened in its original Belmont-Hillsboro location under new ownership. The team behind Green Hills Grille and Mere Bulles took over the space after previous owner Chad Head shuttered the decade-old restaurant to focus on other endeavors. While the exterior remains relatively unchanged (there’s a sign with a new logo out front), the interior is much brighter than its predecessor, boasting new tables, a ceiling light fixture that says “Belmont Hillsboro,” and a bright blue and orange color palette. As for the menu, Chago’s infamous queso is present and accounted for along with traditional Mexican fare such tacos, burritos, and enchiladas. But the new items — like ceviche, jalapeño chicken, and a strong lineup of salads — have made their way on the roster after some test runs at Green Hills Grille. Chago’s is open daily starting at 11 a.m. (Sundays at 10 a.m.) and has plans to launch a weekend brunch soon." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Sat at the bar, the bartender I believe Darian was super friendly made great drinks and was super helpful with the menu. However the fresh made guacamole came out frozen, the fajita steak burrito was awful, the veggies were raw and cold. The ambiance was dead, they had an artist getting ready to perform but I will not be going back, unless it was purely for drinks. The bar had a good amount of quality liquors and had decent specials. Way too many quality Mexican based or Latin American based restaurants in town with a better experience.

Google
What a cute place. This was my first time and I will definitely be back. Had a great experience with everything. My dinner was fantastic

Google
This place is full of fun karaoke on Sundays and a great attitude staff. I was well surprised with the fajitas. They were cooked well, and the general manager himself introduced himself and asked us how our food was. You cannot ask for better service than that. We will definitely be coming back. This may be or go to mexican spot in the 12 S. neighborhood. 10/10 recommend

Google
We were at a basketball camp at Belmont and decided to walk across to Chago's between games. I'm glad we did. The atmosphere was casual but upscale. The service was good. The food was great. The flavors were fresh and layered. Pictures include the bang bang shrimp taco, Mexican street corn, black beans, rice, and pork belly tacos. If you like tacos this is the place. ❤️

Google
Some of the best Mexican food in Nashville. The chip and dip trio is a great start. Really enjoyed the fajita burrito and enchiladas. Drinks are great too. I’ve dined in and gotten take out. Both have been great experiences

SM

Google
They had unique Mexican food and a nice atmosphere. It was a good place to enjoy with friends. I went there after 8 p.m., and they offered a 25% discount on almost the entire menu.

Google
Went to this place because the bagel place was jam packed. I had the vegetarian fajitas and the portion was super generous. The salsa and chips were awesome and the salsa had a lot of flavor and wasn’t too spicy. More flavor than spice which is how I like it. We ordered guacamole as well and that was made to perfection. Perfectly seasoned and the texture was just right. Give this place a try for sure. 🌮🥑

Google
Visiting Belmont for college orientation and figured we would give Chagos a try. First impression of was that the staff couldn't be friendlier! The manager and waitress (Ryleigh) were fun and willing to give us recommendations for things to try. They engaged with my daughter about campus and really made her feel welcome. The food was delicious! My husband got a chicken burrito, and my daughter got the smash burger. I tried the chicken taquitos which were delicious and the manager offered us a baria taco to try on the house. We will definitely come back on future visits to Belmont and I am pretty sure my child will become a regular!

Jules S.

Yelp
had the baria sliders and they were top notch. delicious delicious delicious. will 100% be coming back to try more. super friendly staff as well.

Yelp
I have visited the "new" Chagos quite a few times now. I've never been disappointed with the food or the service. The staff is exceptionally helpful and polite, and the food has been fantastic. I visited today for Brunch the first time, and everything was delectable. I shared the breakfast burrito ( which was stuffed with birria) and the avocado toast (which was fantastically rich with the egg and chorizo) and couldn't have been more impressed by the taste and the portions. The same extends to their lunch/dinner menu. One of my favorites being the "appetizer" quesadilla which is actually a full meal. They also have happy hour, EVERYDAY from 2-6 PM on drinks and food, can't go wrong! Being a California native, it's been a bit tough finding authentic and quality Mexican food in the area, but Chagos serves it up. From the salsa to the margs to the entrees , you won't be disappointed. The margaritas, sangria and frozen espresso martinis are just icing on the cake. But don't skip out on the dessert either. The tres leches cake and the crème brûlée are freakin out of this world!

Yelp
Chagos is located in such a great spot along Belmont Boulevard. The ambiance is very nice with the open windows and new interior. I really wanted to love this place, but something is just off. The service was very slow when we went. It took 10 minutes to get a water, but the food came out quick after we ordered. Definitely great portion sizes and the food was ok. Not great, but not terrible. The salsa was really watery and the main dishes lacked flavor. The margarita was also watery. It is really cool that they do a 25% off menu after 8pm. Also there is limited parking available. Street parking only. Hopefully this place will get better because I really wanted to like it.

Yelp
When I was a young lad in school I had 3 goals: - maintain a good GPA - create everlasting friendships that transcend the college timeline - find the best queso on the planet. After barely graduating and having no friends... I accomplished one of those things. Chago's always had the best queso, best house margaritas, and the friendliest service. After 10 years I had my Chago's homecoming. Even with a decade in between, even with new ownership, even with tastebuds that have changed... I was home. You come for the ambiance of a neighborhood Mexican bar and stay for the incredible sips and tastes no matter the weather, the wait, or the whatever happens.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, which is why I'm still giving a three star rating. We usually go inside and sit down to eat but tonight we ordered take out. I was very disappointed when I cut into the chicken of my cheesy chicken order and it was pink. The rice is also undercooked making it hard and chewy. It was also after 8PM when I placed the order and I was not given the 25% discount they offer. The bartender that rang me up seemed to not know how to work the system. I've never had this issue while dining in so maybe it's a to go order issue.

Yelp
THE REVAMP This was the first day they've been open to the public. I was waiting on the highly anticipated email stating "NOW OPEN". After being closed for so long, I had been craving their nachos. Sad to say the nachos have changed from how they used to be.....bummer! The interior in here was aesthetically pleasing. The colors, decor, and vibe was spot on. It reminded me of Save By The Bell, a classic. We were greeted upon entry by Maggie, who was super sweet and welcoming. Very personable. We were given paper menus, that already had a couple grease and food stains on them. Which I'm hoping by time they get fully functional again they'll laminate these to prevent the dingy appearance of the menus. Not only that, but to keep from going through them so quickly because they are paper. Much grace on this issue, easy fix. Happy Hour 2-6pm daily on food and drinks. Major plus! I'll be back to check out happy hour soon. Drinks and appetizer brought over by Ben. He is definitely a gem you should keep around. His overall demeanor was great. So lively and cheerful. Made sure to say bye when leaving. He possesses a great spirit that's for sure. Becca, our server was great. Very attentive. The manager on duty, I'm assuming she's the manager based on her attire. She was friendly and attentive as well. The bartender unsure of her name, but she never once greeted us. We sat in the booths right by the bar, which I would assume would be her section. We were told our server would be right with us, but after conversation exchange between her and Maggie (the hostess), I don't believe she wanted to wait on us UNLESS someone else wasn't available to do so. I'm unsure if this was because we came in and was seated right at 8 and they close at 9 or what. Very interesting seeing as how a guy walked in to place a Togo order at 8:15 and she waited on him without hesitation. Some things we will never know..... FOOD ordered: Guacamole-4/5; enough for 2 to share. Chips were hot, fresh, lightly salted, and crispy. Very fresh tasting. Mahi taco-4/5; slaw could use a tad bit more flavor, but the crispiness of the mahi (reminds you of a fish stick) was superb. Birria taco -5/5; this may have to be ranked up there as 1 of my top birria tacos in Nashville. $6/each Nachos supreme-3/5; these were highly anticipated, but not the same as before. They come with ground beef, but the birria meat on these would have been much better. Not sure if that's an option though. The chips as stated before were fresh and not stale tasting but it sucks to have a plate of chips and everything just on the top. Especially the cheese I definitely would have liked if the cheese was evenly dispersed throughout the nachos rather than on just the top layer. Great portion size. Enough to take home to eat later. Fajita chicken quesadilla- 3/5; peppers and onions grilled perfectly, but the chicken lacked flavor. If the peppers and onions weren't on the quesadilla I'm curious as to how it would really taste. If the meat had been seasoned, the quesadillas could've easily been 5/5. DRINKS-PERFECT! Sweet heat margarita-5/5 The passion-5/5

Reese C.

Yelp
Service is great! Very friendly! The food was good but not great. Also $6 is kinda high for one taco. *Would give a 3.5 but that is not possible.

Yelp
This was my first time coming to Chago's after their remodel + changing owners(?). The restaurant is very nice inside, cool vibe. I went here on a lunch break with my team for a colleague that is leaving our company. The food itself was good, however, the service and long wait really made the experience less than great!

liz h.

Yelp
Nice, neighborhood vibe. Casual, mushroom, and grilled mahi tacos CRAZY excellent. Yummy happy hour prices.

Yelp
The new version of this restaurant is amazing! The interior is beautiful and vibrant, the food is delicious, and the service was awesome! I have heard people say parking is tough, but it was super easy! Lots of parking right in front, and there is a garage on Belmont campus right down the street. Definitely give it a shot, especially if you ever went to the "old Chago's"

Angela S.

Yelp
Love the vibe! Cool surroundings backed up with spectacular food! Quesadilla with birria was my favorite appetizer. The mushroom and the pork belly tacos were amazing. We split the chocolate crème brûlée and the tres leches dessert and I couldn't decide which was better. It was a great all around stop. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I'm SO glad that I didn't look at the reviews before going to eat at Chago's Cantina. I would normally never go to a mid 3-star restaurant, but I am SO GOAD that we did. Please read this entire review to learn more about this phenomenal restaurant: What we ordered: The Queso Dip was an absolute WIN. Normally, every "cheese dip" you get at a Mexican restaurant is a carbon copy of the next; however, this cheese dip had A LOT more flavor than everybody else's. And, the chips (freshly made at the restaurant) were very good. I HIGHLY recommend!!! Next - I was pretty hungry...but my 12-year old has a habit of ordering and not eating. So, I didn't go big and ordered a simple cheese quesadilla and added shrimp. I figured that I'd eat at least half of his meal. But, the quesadilla was HUGE and I left Chago's completely full. Which brings me to my 12-year old ... he can be picky, so he ordered the Chicken Sandwich. Admittedly, he would eat Chick-fil-A three times a day, so this was a safe bet. The sandwich was HIGE & he ate every single bite. He polished off the fries and even said that the Chicken sandwich was his new favorite! That is a tall compliment from this kid. Next up was my veggie (pescatarian) wife. She ordered a Mahi Taco and a Mushroom taco. She also asked if the black beans had animal fats in them & ordered that, too, when she learned that they did not. She said that the flavors of both "popped" in her mouth and she left very happy. Truth be told, I took a bite of each after her first bite of each because she enjoyed them so much - and I could have ordered both and left extremely happy. Don't get me wrong, I'm usually a pretty big carnivore, so the veggie options will not disappoint. Finally, my 16-year old...like my 12-year old...has a pretty limited palate. He ordered a cheeseburger (Happy Hour special) with fries and there was nothing left on his plate. In fact, my 12-year old looked over halfway thru his meal and asked, "How do you eat so fast?" because the plate was already empty. TIP #1 OF THE DAY: The Chicken Sandwich came with a Chipotle Mayo. While my 12-year old was a little too "vanilla" to try it, my wife and I used it with our meals and it was amazing. So, if your meal doesn't come with this special treat, I'd ask for a side of it because you will not be disappointed. SO, WHY DOES CHAGO'S HAVE SUCH A LOW RATING? We asked, and it turns out that there has been a recent change in management. The new GM treats his employees amazing and the entire culture of the staff has improved tremendously. So, happy servers create a far better environment across the entire restaurant. And, topped with flavorful food that does not disappoint, I expect Chago's rating will SOAR. TIP #2 OF THE DAY: This did not apply to us, but we heard that Belmont students (Belmont University is literally across the street) can use something called "BELMONT BUCKS" to eat here. Man, when I was in college, that would've been the BOMB because I always had to eat at the University Center at my college. So, BELMONT STUDENTS. AND - the food costs less towards the end of the night - so if you have a late-nite-craving, why would you "make a run for the border" when Chago's is so close? Enjoy!

Yelp
I gave this place a second try and I'm glad I did. Queso and guac are on point. The chicken taquitos here are perfect. Moist juicy meat on the inside, crispy and tasty outside. Also had the street corn which is a freaking flavor bomb. So buttery and tangy. I didn't love the tacos, but I think this place is the kind where everyone is gonna find something on the menu they love with a little patience. My friend demolished his fajita burrito and loved how succulent and stacked with veggies it was. The service was exceptional. It's a college campus vibe, which is fun to be around on a Friday night. Will be coming back for those taquitos soon!!

Brad J.

Yelp
Food was cold, orders were confused, service was average at best. The top of the line margarita was mediocre. Try some place else.

Yelp
This food was ahhhhmaaaaazzzziiiinnngggg!!! We shared the Trio Sampler, which consisted of Tortilla chips with Queso, Salsa, and Guacamole. I didn't eat the guacamole, but my friends said it was great! The chips were perfectly seasoned with a great flavor! The salsa was good with a nice kick to it. Not too much of a kick. The queso... OMG!!! That queso was sooo good!! If you mix the salsa and queso together, even better!!! I ordered the Cheesy Chicken, my friends ordered the Enchiladas, and the other dish was some sort of Steak with Elote corn. They loved their entrees, and I loved mine! The flavor was on point! Everything married well together, and nothing seemed to clash in any way. Dessert looks scarce because it was too sooo good!! The Tres Leches cake was good but very coconut based. If you're not big on coconuts, you may not like it. I didn't eat the Chocolate Creme Brulee, but my friends said it tasted like chocolate pudding. The Flan...mmmm!!! It tasted like a dulce de leche cheesecake!! Sooo good!! I'm usually not a fan of flan, but this one will have me coming back for more!! This business says closed, but it's actually open. They just reopened and let me tell you, you want to try this food!! If you do go, ask for Nolan P!! He was our fabulous waiter who provided the best service I've had in a long time!! I'll definitely be back!!

Yelp
First time since they revamped building, menu. First, the previous was sort of a dark dive; food was generally ok, service pretty inconsistent. New place is light, bright, great atmosphere when you walk in. Menu is drastically changed. Used to be one of those where stale chips and salsa on table; at first I was bummed that it was gone, but the QUANTITY made up for that! If I'd filled up on chips/salsa I couldn't have enjoyed the main meal as much! Chicken Enchiladas were incredible! Enjoyed the whole experience and the service was outstanding! Definitely coming back!

Kathy I.

Yelp
We went to dinner at Chago's last week and I'm a little late in posting my review. Previously (IMO) all Mexican tastes the same to me. News Flash...Chago's is pleasantly different! The queso was delicious! It had a unique delicious flavor to it. The chips were fresh and warm, delicious as well! I was not starving so I opted for a beef taco and a birria taco although the birria quesadilla was suggested. Both tacos were delicious! My hubs ordered the birria quesadilla and OMG! He said it was the best quesadilla he's ever had. With that statement I had to try it as well. It was delicious!! As far as atmosphere, the remodel is really nice! It's bright and has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The hostess was a young lady, Lillis, and she was outstanding and very engaging for a young person. Our server was Levi and he was also outstanding as well! The GM Kevin came by to speak and in observing him interact with guests, staff and helping out with table service I can see why the crew are happy to be working there. It definitely had a happy "family" feel to it which is hard to come by these days. Great food and great vibe! We will be back!

Kathryn W.

Yelp
Every time I come here I get AMAZING service. Even if something goes wrong, they have it handled immediately. The food is great, a little pricy but I have such a good time whenever I go that I don't even mind.

Diane W.

Yelp
Great service! The portions were great for sharing. The menu is Mexican but still unique. It was a great surprise for an evening meal upon arriving for our vacation.

Yelp
Solid re-opening, but they need to lower the lights. It's like a doctor's office in there.

Yelp
LOVE THE NEW CHAGO! Very excited for this restaurant to succeed. Their menu is elevated, such amazing food. You must try their Sweet Heat Margarita, incredible. If you're lucky enough, you'll get Micheal as your waiter......he was amazing, knowledgeable, attentive. Thank you CHAGO! We're coming back for sure

Linda A.

Yelp
My friends and I had a fun lunch at Chago's today. Several had the quesadillas and really enjoyed them. I had the salmon BLT and found it exceptional, with a generous and tasty piece of salmon. Tasty food, pleasant atmosphere and good service, I'll go back soon.

Yelp
The new chagos has a charming fresh look. They have remodeled the bar, bathrooms and tables etc. and their is a brand new menu, which has a lot of choices, the food was delicious. Parking is an issue so be prepared to have to look for a spot. The service was great, Michael was informative and a pleasure. Nice to have the new chagos in the neighborhood.

Roopa P.

Yelp
We enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance. Our bartender and server, Michael, went above and beyond! We ordered the house margarita and salsa and chips to start. Then we ordered chicken enchiladas and the veggie bowl. We liked the food and the service was great!

Yelp
If you were to look up the word "basic" in the dictionary, you would find a picture of Chago's Cantina next to it. This is a lunch eatery for Belmont folks. For nearly $20, I had hope for a little more flavor and substance than what was offered. It is not my type of taco spot. After being here 3 times, I can definitely say that you are overpaying for what you get here. I don't see the point in wasting your money for so little food + quality didn't match what I was paying for. If you want a close by alternative that tastes WAY better and half the price, make your way over to Taco Mama in Hillsboro Village. You're better off.

Jonah L.

Yelp
I've been going to Chago's nearly twice a week for the past month. Their Taco's are reasonably priced and pretty filling, not to mention incredible. Their Queso is also spectacular. I have zero complaints, this place is amazing.

Yelp
Mexican-ish restaurant located on belmont campus. We went on a Wednesday night and it was all self-serve/ order at the window, which is different than it used to be. They do have happy hour until 6. $1 off Mexican beers and $2 off the house margarita. I wouldn't recommend the house, tastes pretty artificial and strong sour mix taste. Ordered chips and salsa for $3, which we don't mind, but the salsa was a really small serving and no refills. My husband got fajitas and I got a burrito bowl. Bowl looked a bit dry when it was served so I asked for a side of salsa (came with nothing), food runner said I would have to order it back at the counter. It luckily had guac so that was a decent substitute but overall would give it a 6/10.

Brian S.

Yelp
Well, we knew the previous owner very well and he told us this restaurant was re-opening under the same name and they had done some improvements. So we were eager to try it out. To ensure it was open because of our 30 minute drive and our ordeal to have to park. I pulled it up on social media and low and behold it says they're open! We eagerly climbed into the car made the trip went through the chaotic parking process got out, walked across the street barely making it alive and intact, barely and due to the crazy drivers, we approach the door (signs, reflecting the specials in great deals. They have all on display... and felt as though we were being welcome, and only to find out they have a private party! Could not get in of course! My question is why in the hell in this day and age can't people post that sort of thing online so we don't waste our time, apparently, our time means absolutely nothing gives me an indicator of what's going on in this organization? Clearly a Belmont only establishment. Enjoy bruins!! **+* Thank you for the very nice response. I was frustrated but these things happen unfortunately I'm not on Facebook or Instagram so I was just reviewing it on the regular World Wide Web. I've amended my review rating and look forward to visiting soon. Have a great day.

Will T.

Yelp
Having been a patron of Chagos for years, I was excited to see it reopen its doors. The ambiance and the taste of the food remain consistent, which I appreciated. However, the portion sizes left a lot to be desired, especially for the price point. It's a tad expensive for a lunch spot, especially given the modest servings. While the flavors were on point, the overall experience wasn't as grand as I remembered. For instance, I ordered the a Chicken dish and received a singular piece of chicken on a patty of rice drizzled with cheese. I hope they consider adjusting their portions or pricing to match the value once offered.

Yelp
Favorite taco spot in Nashville! All the food is fresh and delicious, drinks are great and service is always awesome. Love how they have vegetarian options and are very accommodating to any dietary restrictions. The Baja Fish Taco is my favorite because I LOVE catfish!!! Also the Queso that comes with the salsa sampler is how queso is supposed to be!!! It is fantastic. It is a really great atmosphere, but be prepared that parking is street park and is not always ideal.
google avatar

Walter H.

Yelp
My partner and I came to Chago's for an outing before a date night with friends. We started with a salsa sampler: queso, bean & corn salsa, house salsa and guacamole and of course chips (which they'll refill upon request.) The guac was my fav of the four, my partner enjoyed the queso. I ordered the Tacos Borrachos- choose any two tacos and it comes with a 16 oz. margarita. This combo was $16, if you order the marg by itself it's $9 and depending on the taco combination you choose you can spend up to $10. So you're saving $1-$3 by choosing to order the combo. I enjoyed the fried avocado taco as much or more than the one from Mas Tacos. It almost made me forget I even ordered a shrimp taco. My partner had a carne asada taco, I tried a piece of her steak and it was seasoned perfectly.

Yelp
You will get war flashbacks to middle school. Okay, hear me out...why is this restaurant decorated with those weird blue chairs that you had the displeasure of sitting in all throughout K-12. Other than that, this place is extremely expensive. The tacos were 4.50 (compared to bar taco 2.50) The margarita was subpar. The burrito was pretty good tho.
google avatar

Yelp
When I heard Chago's Cantina had one of the best burgers in Nashville, I knew I had to give it a try. We started with the Salsa Sampler which included two salsas, guacamole and queso -- plus the complimentary salsa. The chips were light and crispy. They weren't quite sturdy enough to support the corn salsa and guacamole, but with a little creativity I had no problem with either. The red salsa was great, while the green salsa was good but my least favorite of the bunch. Now for the Cheeseburger -- it was much larger than I expected. It consisted of two smashed patties covered in melty cheese, steamed onions, tangy pickles and "gringo sauce," which tasted like a chipotle or jalapeño aioli. The beef was cooked perfectly. Overall, the sandwich was so good - definitely a top-5 burger in Nashville. The menu was slightly overwhelming (in a good way - so many enticing options!), but I'm not sure I'll be able to return and not get the burger. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very laid back. I'll definitely be back soon.

Yelp
I ended up at Chago's for a post work Happy Hour. The chips and salsa were pretty good & standard for a Mexican restaurant. The chorizo queso was amazing. I had a chicken burrito bowl and it was okay. I felt like it was lacking flavor and needed some sort of sauce. My biggest issue was the service. Our waitress didn't make eye contact, forgot to take one of our friends orders and didn't say thank you.

Steve P.

Yelp
this place is awesome!! the food is outstanding and service is even better. it has a welcoming, vibrant vibe that i highly recommend checking out if you're in the nashville area!

Yelp
Chago's was good. Nice spot, the place looks clean. We arrived on the early side and there were lots of open tables. That being said, there was plenty of staff and I wouldn't say the service was speedy. Seemed like we had some waits that were unnecessary. If you were there with a group for the evening, this probably wouldn't be noticeable. We ordered a couple of the draft beer, the rotating craft varieties. Unfortunately our server didn't seem to know what these varieties were so my husband looked for himself and we found what we wanted. Had the Guacamole for appetizer. Good! I ordered the Cheeseburger and it was very good, but BEST burger in Nashville..... that's a bold statement. But it was tasty and the curly fries were also good. Husband ordered the carnitas plantain, and it was good. The plantain was very plain so it needed the carnitas to make it fly at all. So a fine evening and a fine place.

Yelp
I'm consistently disappointed with the consistency of this restaurant. Throughout the past 6 months, at least half of the times I've tried to come eat, I've been turned down because of "temporary closure" for this or that. No online updates, no Facebook updates, even. Get it together.

Yelp
Chago's has always been a must when we come to Nashville to visit relatives that live in the area. I was so totally unimpressed on this visit, that I doubt I'll go back. From being out of several items, to uninspired drinks, this visit was just blah. The black beans on my taco plate were straight out of the can! They had no flavor, at all! I can say that the tacos I had were good. Very disappointed this time around.

Yelp
Truly enjoyed my pork belly taco and my shrimp taco. Their Caiprihanha (sort of a margarita meets a mojito) was good too.

Yelp
I live in the neighborhood so I decided to give this place a second chance after a horrible first experience. This place still sucks. Taco Bell is better, even sober. And can someone explain to me WHY THEY CHARGE 20% GRATUITY ON ALL ORDERS?? EVEN TOGO! Go somewhere else, anywhere else.

Yelp
Half the time I order from y'all, you mess up the order or completely forget to put items in that you REPEATED back to me on the phone. Quit hiring idiots and pay attention. I live 30 minutes away so every time y'all mess up my order you can't even fix it. I'll say it once again, QUIT HIRING IDIOTS.

Yelp
Dear Chago's, You have some fantastic and reasonably priced comfort food which I constantly crave, but the 20% included gratuity left a bad taste in my mouth. I know that it can be hard with some college students tipping you nothing but please don't force your customers. Stay tasty, -Devin

Yelp
"Happy hour all the time" means a large queso and a pitcher of marg for $37. For three of us, we had about one and a half margs each.

Yelp
Restaraunt has gone downhill. Reduced menu and everything is in styrofoam and plastic. Food was comparable to Taco Bell, but more expensive. We ordered chips and salsa ($3), two entrees and drinks. Would not return again.

Yelp
I absolutely love you Chagos but I've got to give 4 stars instead of five because you are randomly closed all the time! Come on Chagos! We need reliable tacos! Also your margs need serious improvement. BUT, you've got seriously great tacos and excellent queso. Your chorizo is SO good. And your little bar is adorable. Plus you've got great outdoor seating. You should be packed. Why are you throwing it away? Please get better soon. X.X.

Yelp
We were excited to try this place based on their Instagram pictures. I don't know where those pictures came from but it is not what you get here. Pictures show food that they do not even have on the menu. Extremely basic and lacks flavor! Expensive for what you get and the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired!

Yelp
Touring the local colleges, we ventured here based on a local recommendation. I had read the not so thrilled Yelp! reviews, but a local recommendation trumped that for my family. It is close to Belmont University and even though we were there during a Christmas break, there were clearly a number of students eating there. I guessed that portions would be good since college students often think quantity over quality and I was right, at least about the quantity issue. We started with some outstanding quest and guacamole, the quest was good, but the guacamole was outstanding, at least to my palate. After that we opted for the dishes recommended to us. Pollo Gringo - plentiful and tasty, smothered in quest and added the veggies which made the dish. Highly recommended. Burritto - ordered by my son, good but not glowing reviews. Tacos - there are so many, but the favorite was pork belly. Our server was nothing short of phenomenal and she balanced professional, personal and service to a "T". Why not five stars? Price. It is a little bit more expensive than what you can find in similar restaurants. But the food is good.

Yelp
Chago's pork belly tacos are hands down my favorite tacos in Nashville! The queso fundido is also top notch!!!

Yelp
Came during a quiet afternoon to get the Nashville scene burger week burger. I was so glad I got to try the best burger! I was one of the only patrons in the restaurant so my server was attentive and helpful. The burger was excellent! I was very surprised at how good for a tex-mex spot. Don't miss out if you get the opportunity to try this burger!

Yelp
Chago's could use to innovate on their concept a little, since things here haven't changed much (menu-wise) in a while, but their queso is excellent.
