Chai Thali

My husband treated me for my birthday today and we were both very impressed with not only the taste of the food but also the service and portion size. We had a mix of veg and non veg dishes and not one of them didn't please, the meat was tender and well seasoned and the vegetarian items were also seasoned very well. We had a booking for early evening so it was quiet when we got there but then as we were leaving it started to get busy Thanks for the great service and making my birthday meal a good one!

The atmosphere at Chai Thali is very nice, in a street food place it is a bit upscale. The food is good. We had the bhindi khakri, which was OK. The vegetables tandoori was very good, as was the vegetarian biryani (but for some reason it comes with sweet raita). The chicken palak was excellent. Service is a hit and a miss, perhaps staff shortage. All in all, we will come again and try new dishes.

One of the best Indian vegetarian food we had in london. Large sitting, good interior and sometimes Bollywood night. Soya chap was really good.

Beautiful location for a date or catch-up with friends, on quiet Mandela road, immaculate settings and lively bollywood/fashionable Mumbai look, but the food is the reason to come. A wide selection of popular Indian snacks, curries, small plates and sides, something for everyone. Menu is carefully marked for food allergies, vegan and vegetarian options. Highly recommended

The food was absolutely delicious, with a wide range of authentic Indian dishes that were rich in flavour and perfectly prepared. Whether you're a fan of Indian cuisine or just looking for a great place to enjoy a meal, it is definitely worth a visit.

Satisfied meal of the day that much I can say, we managed to satisfy our taste buds through few starters and desserts. Service was great, it was quite and peaceful when ve visited we enjoyed the ambience to fullest.

The restaurant is on a side road about 5 minutes walk from Camden or Mornington Crescent. Quite spacious and cool decor throughout the restaurant. The majority of the food was quite bland including the veg grill. I'd highly recommend the Pau Bhaji Fondue, I don't usually like Pau Bhaji but eating this way with their sauce was great. We got the chocolate samosa with ice cream for dessert and nothing special, the ice cream tasted quite cheap. Quite expensive for the quality and not being on a major road. Worth a visit if you're in the area but there are better options in central and NW London.

I recently dined at Chai Thali and had a mixed experience. Let's start with the positives: the ambiance was cozy and inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere for enjoying a meal. The staff were polite and attentive, ensuring that we were well taken care of throughout our visit. However, my excitement dwindled when the food arrived. Despite the enticing menu descriptions, the portions were disappointingly small. I found myself craving more after finishing each dish, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and wishing I had ordered more. The flavors, while decent, were nothing extraordinary. Each bite lacked the depth and complexity that I had hoped for, resulting in a rather underwhelming culinary experience. Moreover, the prices were unjustifiably high for the quantity and quality of food provided. Considering the portion sizes and taste, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was paying a premium for what felt like a mediocre meal. It's disheartening to spend a significant amount of money only to leave the restaurant feeling hungry and unfulfilled. In summary, Chai Thali falls short of expectations in terms of portion size, flavor, and value for money. While the ambiance and service were commendable, they simply couldn't compensate for the lackluster dining experience. Unless significant improvements are made, I would hesitate to recommend this restaurant to others, especially considering the abundance of other dining options available in the area. P.s No food pictures here, as it didnt wow me enough!

Love the food here specially the Dahl! Wouldn't normally eat carbs but the basmati rice here was perfectly cooked and delicious so I devoured it! Energy was great. Service was excellent.

It was like yummy in our tummy !! Paneer makhani, chicken, lamb all good and paratha, tandoori roti all nice. Very good ambience, table names are pulled from city names

Chai Thali is a great place for Indian street food. We stopped by for appetisers before our dinner reservation elsewhere. The restaurant has a beautiful decor with Indian city signs and innovative art. Service was great and food came out very quickly. On to the food...The pani puri dish comes served in shot glasses and was delicious! £5 for 5 puris which is great value. The lamb kebab had good flavours but was a little overdone. The kali miri chicken tikka had great flavours but again was overdone. Maharaja prawns was great! Papdi chat was good. Chai comes with parle G biscuits. I think if they can make their meat a little less over cooked I'd give it a 5*. I'll definitely be back to try out the main course dishes as well.

As a group of 4 we decided to give this place a go. The decor looks interesting. Our male server was rude, forgot our drinks and starters. The starter were salty and tasteless. We ordered a chicken dish and a prawn dish.... amazingly they tasted the same and there simply was not enough. At the end, another waiting staff could. It work the till and we waited around for 15 minutes In short, shocking!

Great place and well located. Great range of food and very rich in flavours. Lovely concept of giving Indian city names to each table and for a sunday lunch it was just great. Kurkuri bhindi was great and so was malai kofta. Disappointed with the mango lassi and with the jalapeno paneer. Overall great choice.
