Pleasantly surprised by this charming establishment. The dishes came in big portions with authentic flavors. Service was extremely efficient and attentive; atmosphere is equally stunning and rustic. Will definitely return!

All the food was top class. The cooking was clean, and the flavors fresh. The soup dumplings were the most flavorful I've had, even the bottoms came off. The Dan Dan noodles had a nice spicy kick. The portions are generous. The staff is friendly, and the food came out quickly.

Chairman Sun welcomes you with high ceilings and big glass doors which opens up to a beautiful water fountain and tree. A closer look reveals that the artificial tree was used to cover up a support pillar. What an excellent idea. Beautiful extensive decorations with the proper use of wood design really makes it pop. If you’re hungry, this would be the perfect spot. Food comes out in lightning speeds and most importantly, it tastes amazing. I always ordered their take out from Uber eats, their food was astonishing around the lic. Especially the beef chow fun and the mapo tofu was my favorite. Also, the staff was extremely friendly and patient on the phone to listen my request. Variety of menu choices, and their dishes were worth every dollar because their food size was really big.

Google
What s beautiful restaurant! Just perfect for a get together with friends. The servers are so courteous and patient. The food is of high quality and delicious. If you're a fan of spice, you are in the right place. The beer duck was phenomenal 👌🏽

Google
Lifelong New Yorker here. Having eaten at many authentic Chinese restaurants all the time, this is one of the best. Food flavors on point, and portions generous. Service was low key but attentive. We will definitely be coming back.

Everything is so good. I love the sliced potatoes in the fish so much. It tastes like it is fried in advance.A nice Chinese restaurant to have a try!

Google
Wandered in here at 2:30 in the morning when everything else was closed. Got the mapo tofu and some dumplings and it was fantastic. Service was great too. I have quite literally never left a review for any restaurant before, but had such a positive experience I wanted to spread the word.

Yelp
Really enjoy their lunch special it comes with an entree and a soup or can of soda. The soups are egg drop or hot and sour which pairs perfectly with every meal This place is one of my go to lunch specials during the week . My go tos are Chicken with black mushrooms And sesame chicken Orders are ready in under 10 min , nice fresh and hot Always consistent and very good

Yelp
*DOORDASH* one thing that I LOVE about nyc is the luxury of getting decent food super late (ordered legit at 6am lol don't ask about my night bc I don't remember) But got the pork belly with peppers农家小炒肉 (needed salt and was super greasy), and beef fried rice (good flavor but greasy) and both were mediocre. Also, got a side of rice that was $5 :00

Yelp
Came here with a friend for dinner. Really spacious restaurant and not that full. The food comes out super quick and everything was tasty. We ordered the Chong Qing spicy chicken, the cumin lamb and the Sichuan beef. Everything was seasoned very well, it was a little less spicy than some other Sichuan restaurants but still very good . The server was super nice and attentive. They don't rush you to order or to leave which was a plus 4.5/5 stars. Sorry for eating all the food before these pictures

Yelp
Hupo had a 2 hour wait while Chairman Sun was nearly empty. But I'm so glad I have it a try because service was very attentive (refills on tea cups, water cups, change dirty plates). The decor was traditional yet clean and most importantly, I was so happy with the food! We got Mapo tofu with pork, cold sesame noodles and made our own mala dry pot. Everything had so much flavor so definitely order white rice to pair with all their dishes! The sauce for the cold sesame noodles was probably some of the best I've had. The Mapo tofu had so much flavor while still being balanced (spicy, salty, and vinegar flavors to round it out) I'll definitely come back to try their other dishes and drinks! Cocktails are reasonably priced at $10 a drink!

Yelp
I frequently order takeout from Chairman Sun and enjoy their authentic dishes. The menu is rather comprehensive, with a separate section for your standard Chinese takeout dishes if that's what you're looking for. Takeout is typically swift, which I appreciate as someone just looking to grab something on my way home to enjoy while watching Netflix. I've visited for dine in a small handful of times and was surprised by how large and well decorated the interior was upon actually entering. Service every time I've visited has always been attentive and polite, and the food is served quick and piping hot. The dishes I typically order are the hot and sour soup (appropriately spicy!), the tomato egg (so silky with a balance of savory and sweet), and the pork in hunan farm style (also spicy but oh so good). They have a good lunch special deal, and I genuinely appreciate this staple, solid Chinese restaurant in the LIC neighborhood that I would visit again and again.

Yelp
* Maybe 3.5/5 for value Super friendly service & nice ambience in the back. Got a medium spicy dry pot with 8 ingredients for 2 people: beef brisket, beef aorta, quail egg, fish fillet, Napa cabbage, bok choy, potato slices, and tofu skin. They recommend 8-12 ingredients for 2 folks, but even 8 left us with plenty of leftovers. Also the medium spicy level was genuinely so spicy! They are not messing around (or maybe I was just having an off day). Did wish there was a noodle option -- something more carby to soak up all the dry pot sauce. Flavors were solid, numbing. Def on the pricier end but this is LIC, so what can you expect.

Yelp
After weeks of ordering delivery, I finally went in person. Lovely place! And the foods great and fragrant! I'm a vegetarian btw. I got the (1) homestyle tofu and (2) sautéed beans with eggplant sticks. Slightly oily overall, but still super yum! It's twice as good as the quality of your neighborhood takeout spot (for twice the price, but ay, the math checks out). We also got the egg buns! These were slightly sweet and scrumptious. Everything was spot on and freshly made. I'm coming back!

Yelp
My coworkers convinced me this place was good. I am personally very picky with certain meats. The first time i ordered the chicken with broccoli sorry but it was gross. I didn't want to ever order from them again. My coworker told me next time try the beef it's better. Well the beef with broccoli was thinly cut and it actually tasted good. So now we order a 3rd time and i got the beef with broccoli like i have in the past. This time the beef was thick and very chewy I couldn't eat it. My coworker loves this place. I don't think i can say the same . Feels like a hit or miss in my opinion

Phena L.

Yelp
Vegetarians beware - everything, including the vegetarian options, comes covered in pork. The vegetarian rice noodles? Covered in pork. The green beans? Topped in meat. The mapo tofu? Full of meat. Only could eat the white rice, sadly.

Stephanie N.

Yelp
Ordered from Uber Eats- they have a 2 for one Mapo Tofu special going on. It was also 3am! Food was ALRIGHT, the flavors were not super authentic. Your classic OK Chinese food. Not going to complain about the price because the cost of everything has just skyrocketed.

Van H.

Yelp
Very good food and well balanced portions. Highly recommend if you are in the neighborhood.

Claire H.

Yelp
I love this place! Tons of space, great service, and incredible food. A hidden gem. My boyfriend and I come once a week, and get the dry pot or beef sour soup.

Nancy M.

Yelp
Food was great!!! Staff was very nice and everything was delicious. Would def go back. Our favorite dish was the cumin lamb!!

Gab G.

Yelp
Good neighborhood spot. My boyfriend and I came on a weeknight and tried the pork soup dumplings, cumin lamb and mapo tofu. Everything was very tasty, though the food took a long time to come out.

Yelp
I lived in LIC for a little over a year and it was the best time of my life. As new restaurants opened one by one, it got better and better. Chairman Sun filled an empty spot for dim sum and Chinese food in the hood and it was well welcomed! It used to be BYOB, but I'm unsure if it still is now. The decor was modern, but still had traditional old Chinese restaurant touches, like the mini village and fountain, for a twist of nostalgia. Food wise--it's delicious! We dined as a group of four and split an order of chili fish, green beans, & mapo tofu. I got the hot and sour soup--great balance of vinegar and white pepper spice. The dishes weren't overly salty, definitely well seasoned and a good spice level. They were just starting their brunch/dim sum service when I moved. I tried the XLB which...wasn't the best. All in all, a solid spot for dim sum or dinner without a trek to Chinatown or Flushing.

Connie W.

Yelp
I have to declare this is the best Hunan restaurant in NY. We tried many Hunan restaurants in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Flushing and none was as good. Wasted tons of money. This is the best. We were surprised. Very 有锅气。I can tell they are different from other fusion Chinese restaurants. They are the same taste like the restaurant in China. We will definitely be back next week!

Alysha S.

Yelp
I get delivery from here on my bar shifts almost religiously now. The cold sesame noodles are addictive and perfectly spicy. I try a new dish every week and none have disappointed. Amazing all around.

Spud B.

Yelp
Ordered lunch special portion of kung pao chicken. What I got resembled more like diced chicken and peanuts - it was devoid of sliced red/green bell peppers, and had way too many dried hot peppers than the single "pepper" icon on the menu suggested - enough to choke the entire dish. Chicken was fatty with little flavor. Suggested to the waiter that I may have been served the wrong dish but got little explanation. I've been impressed here several times earlier. They can do much better.

M W.

Yelp
Great spot for late night takeouts! Food is delicious and servers are friendly. Huge variety of menu selections.

Yelp
Reposting this review since Yelp flagged/remove this in fear it was some sort of freebie event (e.g., "s0ft opening" - meant as a brand-spanking new opening, not closed, friends/family event). I always love Tutti Matti (and previously A.K.A. Testaccio), and while I was sad to see it go, I was very excited to hear of a legit Chinese spot to open up in LIC, as we really don't have any to speak of. I've walked by as they've done work on the inside, and notice that they finally opened -- albeit JUST opened. So, when my folks came into the city today, why not try the super-new hotness? I mean, not every day Jackey Sun takes his Hunan House (Michelin Bib) acclaim to LIC. Note that they are still working on their liquor/booze license, so it's basically a dry spot, but it doesn't look like there's a corkage fee. A growing pain, much like some of the service quirks (some missing utensils, minor delays, etc.). But...the food is delightful. They offer a very broad menu, including your typical 'American' Chinese food staples, but I was really drawn to their more traditional, signature dishes -- i.e., do NOT waste this opportunity with an order of lo mein and kung pow chicken. And so, we got: [Cold] Apps (they also have nice variety of dim sum offering): Smoked Bean Curd - absolutely delightful. Definitely had some peppers in the mix, with a great marinade (soy and/or teriyaki?). A surprisingly large dish too! Definitely a solid choice. Ox tongue and tripe- this was also a cold dish, but super flavorful - a complex, spicy sauce, plenty of beefy parts, and incredibly unique. Loved this! Mains: So, per the prologue to this review, I wasn't going to go typical 'Christmas day / 614th mitzvah' picture-menu Chinese food order - and opted from the 'signature dish menu. The waitress has helpful in making sure we ordered the right amount and recommended just 2...because these dishes are yuuuuuge (and I have leftovers of both): Steamed Whole Fish with Chopped Chili - this dish was marvelous; the broth alone was a show-stopper. The fish in the broth was delectable, but did have bones, so you had to be somewhat careful...so many the non-booze menu was actually my saving grace! A lovely dish!...that didn't involve 'chicken with broccoli'. And the second signature dish was the: Braised Frog Legs in Chili Sauce - again, why go for the standard when you can get things like frogs legs? This dish was definitely bold on chili flavor, and while it came in proportionally just a bit light on actual frogs legs, the large dish was flush with delicious mushrooms and overall was a really interesting, super tasty treat. Bottom line: The food...is absolutely delightful. There were several service hiccups (e.g., water is important) but this place is brand new and the food quality more than makes up for the growing pains. Super happy that a place of this caliber opened up nearby!

Yelp
Authentic Chinese food finally arrives in LIC. Similar to Chinese restaurants in Chinatown and Flushing, Chairman Sun boasts a wide variety of authentic items and more Americanized dishes - which they clearly advertise. The space is open and the servers are kind and accommodating. The food - delicious and flavorful. Starting with the Yan Chow fried rice, plentiful chicken and large shrimp. The garlic pea shoot dish is very authentic and perfectly executed. The sautéed chicken with old ginger was delightful. Just enough spice, lots of flavor and bone in chicken - something you would find in traditional Chinese cuisine. The price - just a bit on the pricier side but it's not out of line compared to restaurants in Chinatown or Flushing. Obviously, this review was written during their opening week, so you'd expect some inconsistencies on service but I didn't see anything they did wrong. The staff was great and food delicious.

Jedsada Y.

Yelp
Can someone please explain what or who Chairman Sun is? Anyway, it's a good addition to lower LIC area. We already have Xi'an food, and now we have Szechuan cuisine. This place is pretty spacious. There's a main dining area in the middle, plus a mezzanine dining area in the back. Since it's relatively new, they still don't have a liquor license yet, so this is your chance to bring your own beer or wine. We ordered Hot & Sour Soup which was really good along with Pork Soup Dumplings to start as appetizers. The dumplings were steamed perfectly with not too thin skin which was able to hold some soup. As for main course, we went with Stir-Fried Pea Shoots which was kind of bland as expected. Beef Szechuan Style was somewhat salty; we were unable to finish it. I'd give Chairman Sun 3.5 stars. I'm pretty sure there'll be a review update since there are some other dishes I'd like to try.

Zhe C.

Yelp
The steamed chicken with chili is not bad- a little salty but not terrible. The tofu with crab meat is a disgrace- please don't list it as a signature dish. Charged me 20$ for a small bowl of bland soupy tofu & imitation crab meat? Get out of here lol Plenty of other restaurants do this dish, similar price and actually use real crab meat- so having eaten that before, I had high expectations. Feel free to google what it's supposed to look like. This is appalling

Angela Y.

Yelp
The dry hot pot is very filling and tasty. Would get medium spice unless you are highly tolerant. I love eating the leftovers for lunch the next day (very easy to rehear). Extremely nice staff members and love the overall ambiance (the cherry blossom tree in the middle of the restaurant and wood tea mugs)...this is my favorite Asian restaurant in LiC, very authentic and all the Asian students come here.

Nikki L.

Yelp
The food was decently good. I tried the mapo tofu, hot and soup soup, and spicy dry pot. The mapo tofu wasn't that spicy, but the tofu was soft and enjoyable and the sauce was good. The spicy dry pot was decent...there was a little bit of a kick to it, but I have had much better dry pots elsewhere. I think the hot and sour soup seemed a bit Americanized but I could still finish it. Overall, for the area, it wasn't a bad choice for Chinese food and if I happened to be nearby, I wouldn't mind going again.

Neel P.

Yelp
Great food, always hits the spot for Szechuan. Open late. The build your own spicy dry pot is a go to, same for twice cooked pork, dan dan noodles, cumin lamb, cucumber salad. Service is in line for other Asian restaurants in Queens, direct and to the point.

Nathalye L.

Yelp
Great lunch special option around the neighborhood at $10.95 price per dish, comes with a soup or a soda, and the flavors of the dishes are great! Important to note that the portions are on the small/medium size but more than enough to satisfy one's belly for lunch!

Giovanna T.

Yelp
If you like undercooked soup dumplings and refrozen/hard fried dumplings and general tso's chicken, this is the place for you! You can see in the picture that most of the soup collapsed out of the raw dough. Worst Chinese food I've ever had!

Moe R.

Yelp
Used to be very food there and most of the time go there for lunch or dinner. Now food is horrible rice is so hard also pork they cook so dried doesn't looks like fresh. So disappointed

Max J.

Yelp
1. Their Uber eats price are all 2~4 dollars more than their Norma price so you prob save more money if you order directly from them... I had many orders on Uber Eats and when I find it out I was shocked and 2. I ordered from them twice from store and the delivery guy is so rude and asking more tips directly. I was feeling threatened and forced... not a nice experience at all. 3. Their food sometimes gave me stomachache so just be careful, I wouldn't order their beef... I had a E.coli from them last year and had to go ER so please be cautious if you order beef.

Jon T.

Yelp
Ordered delivery via Uber eats and got the hand ripped cabbage dry pot with pork belly for $21.54. DO NOT GET THIS. Maybe it's because we got take out, but for $21 all I got was a small take out container of cabbage and a sliver, a speck of pork belly. You can take all the pork belly in this dish and put it together, that wouldn't even be enough for one bite. Needless to say, I wanted to make sure I got the right dish. I called them to ask and they confirmed. One sort of saving grace is that Mimi who works there offered a discount on my next order. So at least there's that, which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of one.

Yelp
Prior to tonight, my experience with this restaurant was limited to a completely satisfying take-out lunch order. This evening I hosted my annual Chinese New Year dinner here. First, I will note that there was no special menu for the holiday, which wasn't a surprise. When I asked about that while making the reservation in person a few weeks ago, the response was that they didn't know if there would be a special menu or not. The food was as tasty as it looked, and was delivered to the table faster than I've ever experienced at any restaurant. The only reason I'm not giving Chairman Sun a higher rating is because there were some things that didn't sit right with me. First, the only option for hot tea was Lipton. That's a first for me at a Chinese restaurant. Second, lo mein was not available because "too many people ordered it yesterday for Chinese New Year." That's a key dish for the new year, so why hadn't they planned ahead, or replenished their stock during the day in time for the evening diners? Lastly, there was only one dessert option. Thankfully, my guests all enjoyed the food, but the points above were disappointing to me as the host.

Siyun Z.

Yelp
Very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing Chinese restaurant in LIC. Came here on a weekend to have a little dim sum. We ordered the bbq pork steam buns, shrimp dumplings, chicken lo mein, soup dumplings. They were all decent. Definitely okay for Chinese food in LIC but not compared to Chinatown or Flushing. I would recommend this restaurant if you are craving Chinese and don't want to travel far. Also it very spacious inside and is a great place to sit and catch up with friends.

Kelsey A.

Yelp
Great local spot! The staff was sweet and friendly, my order was well packaged, and the food was great! This is a great spot for pick up or a quick lunch. I highly recommend the general tsos chicken!

Jeff B.

Yelp
Overpriced for quality of food IMO Order: Cucumber Salad Deep Fried Chicken Hunan Style Braised Beef Flank Hunan Noodles Well I was pretty disappointed with this meal considering it cost $53. The cucumber dish was what I was expecting. Garlicky seasoned cucumber. Super refreshing and tasty. The chicken dish: I was expecting some sort of stir fried dish that included vegetables and deep fried chicken. What I got was what looked like half a chicken cut into pieces. Very very bland flavor. It was easily some of the driest chicken I've ever had. I shouldn't have assumed it came with anything else. Big let down. The Braised Beef noodles....was expecting noodles with meat, which is exactly what we got. A couple baby bok choy mixed in. The beef had so much cartilage and tough rubber whatever that is in it. Not very familiar with eating rubbery pieces like that. Very little meat. The noodles were good. Also in the bag was a mysterious container of some kind of broth. None of the dishes I ordered said anything about soup or liquid. I assumed it went on the noodle dish. The broth was def good, my girlfriend drank most of it. Still wondering if it was for the noodles or the super dry chicken. Also ordered a Diet Coke that was not delivered. I'll def try this place again because I love authentic Chinese food. Looks like it will just take some trial and error to find the good dishes.

Mike R.

Yelp
We've gone back a few times since our initial visit. My main mark down from this place was the service before - the first time we went they were pretty slow at everything. tl;dr: Service appears to have improved but I noticed that it still might be spotty in the dining room overall. But our food both times came out way faster than the first time. Food is still very good. Order the authentic stuff - ask the wait staff questions if you don't know what to get. There's a lot of good stuff on the menu. Try not to order the "American Chinese" dishes - these aren't really actually Chinese food even if you were brought up believing that. It's like going into an authentic Mexican restaurant with tons of good stuff and getting a "Mexican Pizza." Get the stuff the chefs actually grew up (probably) cooking and are super familiar with (aka probably not Orange Chicken..). Longer: The service was noticeably better the second time. We were given water right away (as opposed to last time we waited a bit for it) and they were noticeably more attentive to us. At the time, the dining room was probably 2/3 full seat wise so not necessarily slow. We were also given a little dish of some nuts to snack on the first time which was nice. The time after that we went, the dining room was busy so we just opted to sit near the bar. Not as attentive, but it wasn't as bad as the first time we went - we didn't feel forgotten. However, we didn't get the dish of nuts. Not sure why.. The last time we went, we realized they have a dry pot menu now. I have fallen in love with Dry Pot (aka Ma La Xiang Guo) the last 5 years and prefer it over hot pot. Not necessarily cheap but you could just order this only for dinner for 2 and maybe spend $35-$40 for it total - you'd be good. They have a number of meat and vegetable options - some of them that aren't "adventurous" (beef, sausage, etc) and others that might be such as beef aorta (which apparently might be beef throat - which I love), chicken kidneys, pork intestine, etc etc. I've eaten Ma La Xiang Guo at a number of places in NYC and this is one of the better ones I've had. Really happy they have it here and it's good! Other dishes: * Sauteed Frogs with Green Chili (#131): The frog tasted more like chicken (I mean that's fairly normal) but I know it was frog. Nice fire flavor on it. The peppers were nice - a little spicy but not too bad. Would order again. * Salted Egg with Eggplant (#89): Good stuff with the salted egg - lot of oil if you want to dip the eggplant in it but you don't necessarily have to. Would order again. * Mango Pudding (#18): As it says - pretty good and would order again. * Golden Bun (#14): I think of Golden Bun as bao with the sugar egg yolk in the middle. This isn't that one. This is mantou (bread) where half is fried and the other half is not along with sweetened condensed milk to dip in. I'm a fan of this anyway - would order again. The second time we went, we got some little sweet yogurt drinks after dinner (which I love) but the last time we went we did not get this. Overall, it appears that service has improved from a week ago. However, I did witness some things that makes me believe that some other patrons might not have received as good of service as us. The food is delicious. Order the authentic dishes (aka the real Chinese food) - very good.

Roxy K.

Yelp
This place has amazing food, I can say that the most delicious traditional Chinese food that we have ever tried. We go out of our way and walk 40 minutes just to eat at this restaurant. All of the staff is incredibly friendly. Support this great establishment if you live in Long Island City.

Carl B.

Yelp
Evidence that LIC wanted a Chinese restaurant with both cumin lamb and General Tso's: The line was out the door on Sunday, too long to fathom waiting for a takeout order. So I returned Monday to pick up a workday lunch special, and it was excellent: double cooked pork with dried bean curd, plus the customary LIC 20% premium. (Hey, rents are high!) Can't wait to see what they do once they're really ready to open, with a functional ordering system and a website that's moved beyond the template stage.

S C.

Yelp
So sad because it was really good when they first opened. They seem to have a major problem in the kitchen and with keeping consistent staff. The food changes every time we go, each time progressively worse until finally they served us complete raw pork soup dumplings. Raw being the key word here. Raw. not just undercooked. Completely raw. I scrolled through the reviews and see that at least two other reviewers complained about the same thing. This is unacceptable to serve raw pork. They obviously have a huge issue keeping a sane, clean kitchen if they continue to serve raw pork to their customers. I actually think this is a sanitation issue and should be reported. Also when I showed the raw pork to the manager, she did not seem shocked or concerned. Just looked blankly at me and asked whether I wanted another one.

Jen K.

Yelp
Solid spot. Mapo tofu is good and generous in portion. Don't love that basically nothing comes with rice. Scallion pancake was very crispy--more of a fried chip than pancake, but it was so good!Duck fried rice could've used a little more seasoning and time in the pan, but it was a good portion for the price. Shu mai was also good! But Def do NOT use their online ordering, as the prices were 3x of the price when we called to order over the phone!

Diana T.

Yelp
Great decor and comfortable surroundings here. I came on a weekday afternoon for a late and light lunch. Ordered: Cumin lamb: nice level of heat but not quite the flavor bomb of a similar dish I've had in flushing. Dan Dan noodles: the sauce was quite imbalanced for my liking (not enough spices and seasoning, but a lot of sesame sauce) although the noodle texture was nice. I'm happy to see more Chinese places that aren't takeout joints popping up in queens but I would choose Flushing first if I had a choice.

Catherine L.

Yelp
New spot in LIC! And it's not a Chinese take out spot! Heard mixed reviews before coming to try this new resto but we were fairly pleased with the food we ordered. My favorite was definitely the spicy fish filet and Chairman Mao's pork! The snow pea shoots were also good. My parents also enjoyed the orange chicken (wasn't a huge hit for me but they liked it) The one major down point I will say is that the service is terrible and all the wait staff seemed overwhelmed. Everything was rushed and anytime we asked our waiter for extra water, chopsticks, etc...he seemed very annoyed and just didn't give a F . When we first sat down he informed us that we'd better hurry and order because the kitchen is already backed up. Definitely need to work out the kinks of a new restaurant opening.

Jamie L.

Yelp
Finally an authentic Chinese restaurant comes to LIC! They have fresh made dim sum too! I mean, what's more to expect ? I came here on a Saturday night , waited for 15 mins which was totally fine comparing to a 40 mins drive to Flushing . There were many deliveries on the counter( yes, you can just call the restaurant and order for delivery ) . We order Minced pork with sour bean, fish filets in chili oil , sautéed chicken with old ginger and roasted duck with beer. I'd give 12 out of 10 points for the food !! I'm a big foodie who's tried half of the restaurants in flushing, believe me, this place is the top 3 spicy food I've ever had . I was gonna order their dim sum too, but I was told that it's very busy that it would take more than 50 mins for dim sum , so I decided to come back another time . Overall, the experience is good, I will definitely come back for the food !!

Chris P.

Yelp
For $11 I thought I'd get more chicken, but quality wise it's definitely better than your typical Chinese fast food. All in all I'd order from here again. The chicken was lightly breaded and not too heavy.

Joanna M.

Yelp
Came here with my sisters on a Saturday evening for the first time. We had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated(Not a problem). We ordered several dishes and we were satisfied. Because they are fairly new i think they have some work to do. 1. The service was a bit off. They didn't bring any waters unless we asked. Also we asked the waitress for a suggestion on the best dish and she didn't know. As we left, no one even acknowledged us. 2. The decor inside was beautiful! Love the tree. But there was a plastic garbage can next to our table which isn't so pleasant. 3. The food came out pretty quick and tasted great so i can't complain about that. Also they don't serve beer or liquor but they said we can bring our own which we weren't aware of. Good place, good food. I would give it a second chance.

Yelp
Likes: - spicy dry pot is delicious (mild) seafood and veggies Dislikes: - fried rice is ok - fish balls have meat/pork (I'm allergic to pork) So, can't eat it and such a waste. - should say it or fish meat only (fish ball)

Yelp
Ordered the braised beef, dry fried green beans, mountain yam soup and soup dumpling. Was utterly disappointed The braised beef was not properly braised and remained as hard as a rock while being super salty. Green beans was over cooked and salty. Soup dumplings were more like buns as the dumpling skin was thiccc. Soup was not bad. The saving grace of this place is their wait staff. Super friendly and offered to replace the subpar dishes. Super appreciate of such gestures. Kudos!

Yelp
I was leaning between 3 and 4 for this review, but will round up given Covid. We were looking for a simple americanized chinese takeout spot and while Chairman Sun clearly looks to be a more authentic/ upscale place, decided to give them a try because they also had a few takeout classics. We got the sesame chicken and hunan style noodles, the latter of which are very similar to lo mein. The chicken was better than the noodles, very crisp and the sauce was solid. My feeling is they are a better spot for their more authentic sounding dishes, so maybe stick to those when you order. Prices are a little high, but not unusual given the location.

Yelp
Chairman Sun has become my neighborhood Chinese spot that is reliable whenever the cravings hit. They have a large and diverse menu and everything I've tried has delicious and up to standards. My personal favorites at any Chinese restaurants are the eggplant with garlic sauce, stir-fried string beens, mapo tofu, and mao's braised pork (hong shao rou). On my next visit I'll probably try the cumin lamb dish or spicy dry pot. Overall the food and service are solid and you really get the heightened flavors from wok frying.
