14 Hotel Bars Worth a Visit in San Francisco

"Styled on a rock-and-roll theme, as a number of hip boutique hotels are these days, Chambers is bedecked with many shelves of vintage LPs, Chambers Eat + Drink at the Phoenix Hotel. The cozy space is divided into a bar and lounge on one side where snacks can be ordered, and a more restaurant-focused side with its own bar, and several booths that make great venues for catching up with old friends, or quiet dates. Don’t be fooled by the blunt simplicity of the cocktail menu, with drink names like “Rum Drink,” “Gin Drink,” and “Scotch Smash” — these are all, in fact, well-imagined and delicious concoctions." - Dianne de Guzman, Jay C. The Best Places to Eat During SF Pride, 2018 | Eater SF

"Near the Civic Center revelry and traditionally the venue for one of Sunday’s big afterparties, Chambers Eat + Drink at the Phoenix Hotel is a good destination for brunch or dinner as well — bearing in mind that Sunday afternoon will be given over to a big, loud party by the pool, over which the restaurant looks. The place is bound to draw a gay and lesbian crowd this weekend, particularly among those staying at the hotel or one of the nearby, down-market motel options, and the food, from the Wagyu Kobe beef burger to the katsu pork chop, is above average for the neighborhood. Added bonuses: the drinks are good too, and Fridays and Saturdays feature a late-night menu served from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., for those who forgot to eat dinner or need to stave off a hangover." - Jay C. How to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in San Francisco Like a Local | Eater

"A dark, sexy Tenderloin hotspot that favors mood over rowdiness, this spot offers a varied, thoughtfully executed menu ranging from a Wagyu burger to a beet salad with pear and goat cheese, along with well-crafted cocktails. It’s positioned more as a celebration destination than a theme-driven St. Patrick’s Day bar—skip the shamrock gimmicks and enjoy solid food and drinks in a sophisticated setting." - Vox Creative

We came here for birthday dinner and drinks and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and service. You wouldn't know this pleasant interior space facing the hotel courtyard was there if you just walked by on the troubled streets outside. We were there on the early side so it was pretty quiet with a music soundtrack that wasn't intrusive. The staff, from the host to the servers, were great and took care of us. The apps and drinks were great especially the potato croquettes and the bourbon drink and the egg white drink. The main I had was a little disappointing though. I had the cavatelli and it came with a big square of melted cheese on it that overpowered the dish and just felt greasy so that I couldn't enjoy any nuance of flavors from the lemon or radicchio. I tasted the tofu and the chicken from my friends which were a notch better. Overall, pretty good place. Perhaps it shines best as a place to get great drinks and apps while hanging out in a hip spot.

We came to Chamber for a friends birthday dinner. We had a reservation for 6PM, we arrived shortly before and they seemed to be surprised to see us. They sat us and the bartender came over to bring us menus. We immediately noticed the menu was not the same as the one on their website. The menu was far smaller and did not have any vegan options. We were frustrated because we picked the restaurant based on the online menu and vegan options for one of our party who has dietary restrictions. Be prepared as the menu has 2 entree items and then shareable. The food we did order was great!! Everyone loved the Bombas and 4 out of the 7 of us ordered the Shrimp and polenta. It was amazing. We all loved the atmosphere. We enjoyed the funky eclectic vibe and music.

Came here for Brunch on a Saturday. The area is somewhat sketchy seeing as it is in the Tenderloin so it's surrounded by homeless people in tents or outside (my heart goes out to them being a local). However this little restaurant is just amazing the moment you walk in to the dining area. Old vinyls decorate the shelves along with a lovely atmosphere of wood furniture and cozy comfy seats. It is simly lit for the romantic aspects of couples dining in. The food was delicious! I highly recommend ordering the souffle pancake Asap and definitely share if you plan on having your own entrees. I honestly cannot wait to come back!

Today is February 28, 2021, and Chambers opened again and hopefully for good. I love Chambers; the staff is very young, friendly, and goes the extra mile to make you feel comfortable, happy, and special. At night the fire is magical, and the music is excellent and not too loud. Take the homeless crisis around the hotel as part of the experience and realize how fortunate we are to have so many privileges when other people don't. Today, Sunday, we went for brunch, and we enjoyed a great party with a live DJ, the most extraordinary music, and all the sun and glamour of this super chic place. Isabel, the owner, is the best and she will try to accommodate any special request that you could have. When you are here is challenging to think that you are in the middle of the city rather than in some fantastic and sophisticated hidden gem in LA or Ibiza. Great place to go with a group of your closest friends to have fun and enjoy the music. Highly recommended.

Google
Food was ok, but less flavorful than comparable places at this price-point in area. Outside dining was fun with fire-feature, heat lamps at night & pool for Phoenix hotel guests. Similar spots back in NY have better food.

Google
Great food, decor, and service. I've been here 3 times - twice for brunch, and once for a large birthday party. The brunch food is excellent, and I love the mocktails. We had a 16-person birthday dinner recently and the people who helped us plan it were super helpful and accommodating. We all enjoyed the fixed menu and the punch bowl. If you are thinking of planning a party there, they have 3 tiers of menus: $45, $55, or $65 per head. We got the $55 option. The soups were individual and everything else was family style. We were satisfied with the portions, but people with bigger appetites might desire bigger portions.

Wow where do I begin with this place. Overall one of my favorite dining experiences, 5 stars overall. Food - the food was amazing. Everything we tried we were more and more impressed. My favorites were the burrata and the fresh spring rolls. I highly recommend to anyone stopping by! Drinks - cocktails listed were unique, well priced, and overa delicious. Tried a few and I just wanted to keep going down the list. I recommend the gin cucumber drink so refreshing! Experience - to the restaurant and chef, thank you. We came in late for the last seating of the night and we felt so terrible. The chef and staff were so accommodating and made sure we still had an enjoyable experience even as we were trying to rush and get out of there to let them get on with their night which was very appreciated. The venue is SO cute with the outdoor pool, fire pits, and cute seating areas for larger parties. My only note to add is that the restaurant is a little hidden and unfortunately a lot of homeless people outside. If you are lost or need help the Phoenix hotel is in the same building and a nice man helped us get to where we needed to be. Can’t wait to come back and visit again everything was amazing!

Google
This restaurant is located in the Phoenix Hotel which is a retro-chic 1960s motel inspired décor. Very interesting and fun terrace. The food has Spanish influence with a modern take on it. I had the Arroz con pollo (Chicken with rice) and the crema catalana (creme brule with a Catalan twist). Both were very good and savory. A cool place check out in the Tenderloin district.

Yelp
Chambers is absolutely amazing. I've spend one of my most memorable and best New Year's Eve here about 7 years ago for dinner and after party. It was one for the books! My point is I've come back this year multiple times, yet again to be swooned by the customer service and amazing food. It's STILL such a vibe!!! The music.. the down to earth ness.. the chic vibes of feeling so elite yet right in the heart of the tenderloin. I will never get tired of the vinyl decor. I love it here and hope it stays forever ! Come here if you just want good vibes, easy going, down to earth, and just to feel so SF.

Yelp
3 stars for the service, atmosphere, and food+cocktails(really yum)!! Keep in mind, this restaurant is in Tenderloin. It is not considered a very safe area in SF. If you're going alone, I would not recommend it. Even with others, I felt very much on guard during the walk from the closest parking garage to the restaurant. Upon arriving, the smell of pee engulfed our noses. The doors are big and heavy, and also very much peed on. There was pee dripping down from the door onto the floor. The entrance itself also had puddles of pee. We needed to bend over, stretch the arm out to open the door, and hop over the puddles. It stinks pretty bad. Once you're inside, you're good though. It is an incredibly chill vibe to drink at and to eat here next to the books, records, and by the pool. It's a bigger restaurant and has a lounge feeling. The food here is not too expensive, but it tastes like it should be! For the price, it's certainly impressive. The drinks are wonderful and we loved each cocktail. The food quality from the items we tried was amazing. If you're willing to get through the walk and into the door, this is a spot to try.

Yelp
Things I loved: the ambiance of the room and the decor. The cocktails were decent. The food was average. Nothing truly inspiring. The location is difficult. It is in the tenderloin and attached to a motel. There is active drug use in the streets. As a male walking with another male, I did not feel unsafe. The homeless keep to themselves and I never felt like I was getting attached, but there are syringes or worse on the ground and you have to watch your step.

Yelp
Brunched here with some friends who were visiting out of town; part of the goal was to find a laid-back and hip spot. Chambers did not disappoint on that front. We made reservations for a weekend brunch and when we arrived we were a bit surprised to find out that we were the only group in the restaurant. Now, I will leave it up to you to read into an empty restaurant during a weekend brunch in SF--good sign? Bad sign? Those thoughts left my head because I was impressed with the interior space; it is like a man cave retro audio room meets a bar, very nice. The food, on the other hand, was rather mundane to high average. I ordered the chicken and waffles and was expecting a sweet and salty, juicy, meal. But, both the waffles and chicken were dry; the saving grace was that the taste balance of sweet and savory was on point so the plate was cleaned. I got to try their brunch burger, which is a conglomeration of beef, fried egg, candied bacon, harissa aioli, cheddar cheese, hollandaise. served with fries. I realized I probably should have ordered that (too!) because it hit the spot; I just wish we had more fries to share. I really liked the ambiance and the space. If you want a brunch place that is fitting for some fine conversation in wonderful environment, put Chambers on your list.

Yelp
Chambers is the onsite restaurant/bar/venue space attached to the Phoenix Hotel. While I did not eat here, I did stop in for an after dinner drink our first night in SF before heading back to our room. It's just so inviting, I couldn't pass it up. The decor of Chambers mirrors that of the Phoenix itself - it has a heavy music theme but is a smidge more upscale with classy wood finishes throughout the space and hundreds (if not thousands) of vinyl records lining the shelves of the perimeter. While there is an entrance for the pubic on Eddy St, you can enter through the courtyard if you're a hotel guest. In addition to the main bar/restaurant area, there is a back room which contains another bar and a large open floor with a DJ booth. I'm assuming this is a multi-use event space since the hotel hosts several artists throughout the year - it seems like a perfect spot both functionally and aesthetically speaking. I can also see private parties being held back here. When we arrived around 10pm they had finished dinner service but the bar was still open. I was feeling a cocktail, and their vodka drink was speaking to me so I went with that. It was smooth, refreshing, and so good I decided to get another. Service was fast and friendly, and overall I found Chambers a solid spot to grab a drink. Hours are limited - I think they're only open a few nights a week, but my interest has been piqued and I would love to return to try their food.

Yelp
We held last year's holiday party at chambers. A great venue for large groups. Accommodating staff who worked with our budget. The only downside that parking was hard and one of our staff members got their car hit & run at the hotel's parking lot (not the fault of chambers).

Teressa K.

Yelp
Such a great place, I especially love the atmosphere here. I love spending friday evenings here, the food, service, especcially drinks, everything is just perfect in here. I love this place, I would reccomend this place for everyone, you have to come and try it out. You can also organize all kinds of events here, they are very helpful in that regard, one of my friends did her birthday party here and she said that they administrations were really helpfull.

Alicia S.

Yelp
12/10 experience and party. We can't thank Auggie and the Chambers team enough! We held our wedding reception here last week and it was truly the best night ever. They handled every detail and we literally didn't have to worry about a thing. Every staff member who worked was so friendly and helpful. Our guests had nothing but great things to say about the venue. Our friends who stayed at the phoenix had great things to say about the hotel: quiet rooms, comfy beds, great pillows, and an amazing front desk staff. We would recommend Chambers to anyone in need of an event space in the city. I had concerns about the location being in the tenderloin but it was absolutely not a concern once we were there! We can't recommend this place enough. Thank you, Chambers!!

Yelp
Restaurant located at the very funky retro Phoenix Hotel serving up some tasty tavern fare in the heart of the Tenderloin. Brunched with a group of my SF pals while in town for a big birthday bash which was held the night prior in the very same restaurant back bar area. I enjoyed the brunch burger, although I ordered it medium rare it arrived well done (Boo!!).. brisket/chuck blend burger topped with fried egg, candied bacon, cheddar, harissa aioli, and hollandaise accompanied by fries, this burger has all you want in a brunch burger (points off for messing up the cook- medium rare would have been awesome). One of my friends had the New York steak & eggs, and man was that good! Juicy New York strip with green garlic chimichuri (they got the medium rare cook on that right!) served with eggs and crispy patatas bravas with pimento aioli.. so good! Also notable are a most excellent bloody Mary (vodka) and bloody Maria (tequila).. they ran out of bloody mix (due to my large group of brunchers - hair of the dog from the party the night before! Lol). If you're staying at the Phoenix or in the Tenderloin, this is a great place to grab a bite for sure ;)

Yelp
When I tell you that I was lost until I walked in, I truly was. When walking up to the bar, you really don't see it. This place is attached to the Phoenix Hotel so the entrance isn't immediately noticeable until you walk PAST the Pheonix Hotel entrance on Eddy Street. There, you will see the black door that lets you into this swanky bar! We sat inside since it was a little cold outside, but you can overlook the pool area and there were some heaters as well for outdoor seating, if I am not mistaken. The bar has a very elegant and elevated vibe. We did not get food, but grabbed drinks. The drinks are reasonably priced ($13 - $15) for a specialty cocktail and a martini. The service was great, with the waitress being able to help giving recommendations on what to get from the cocktail menu / what she liked / what picky drinkers like us would like versus not. I loved the fact that it was not as busy for a Thursday evening (~7pm time around there). I would go back and try the food for sure as well as bringing others to this bar. Look out for another review on the food soon!

Yelp
Bar review only. Wow, this place is a total gem. They were able to accommodate a large party in their back bar on very short notice. I am not sure if this part of the bar is always open or not but it is DROP DEAD gorgeous. The whole place is divine. We had a large spread of appetizers, all of which were fantastic.

Yelp
Do you know the muffin man?! F*** yeah I know the muffin man. He made an amazing English muffin burger for brunch today with fried egg, candied bacon, harissa aioli, fiscalini smoked cheddar, tahini hollandaise, sweet and spicy pickles! Mouth-watering Homer Simpson drool level! *Uuuggghghgghghlllll*

Yelp
This dinner restaurant sits on the property at the Phoenix hotel and shares a common side with the interior poolside courtyard. During the pandemic this eatery appears to inly be open for dinner service from 5pm to 9pm and it caters to the hotel guests specifically with I am assuming a small walk in crowd feom outside the compound. All of the staff I encountered, three or four people, were all under face cover, professional, friendly and kind. My server brought me water with my menu and then mentioned the nights specials. The menu looked good with several different choices and something for most tastes. After perusing the menu, I opted for the evenings special - fried chicken with bbq beans and sweet cornbread. I ordered a Pacifico with my dinner. A cold beer with my meal appeared within less than 15 minutes of ordering, the fried chicken was okay, a little heavy on the breaded coating for my likes but it was still okay. The bbq beans were good bit a small portion and the sweet cornbread may have been the highlight of the meal. Served in a small cast iron skillet it was absolutely delicious and the best part of my meal. The servers are all professional, the service is pretty quick, the food okay, the beer cold. This poolside locale is comfortable for outside dining al fresco. Though it was very windy the night of my visit the wind block partitions and exterior space heaters everywhere helped offset the night winds and chill. 3 Stars - it served its purpose for a close to my hotel meal - literally across the pool area from my room. Food okay not great not bad - okay, and the location to my nights stay hard to beat. 00707

Yelp
If you haven't had a chance to check out Chambers for brunch, you definitely need to get over! The waffle was unreal and Idk how I'm supposed to order anything different next time I visit. The whole outdoor aesthetic is so cute between the pool, palm trees, and different lounge seating spaces. They nailed the music playlist and the staff were all so friendly. We ordered the Frosé and the pina colada to drink and at that point it honestly felt like we were on vacation

Yelp
Get off your high horse and go to the TL, walk right into chambers for some awesome music and great decor. Pool area reminds me a little of Miami. Nice dim lighting inside which I prefer (it makes everyone more attractive). Good food, good drinks, cool vibe. Definitely recommended. I'd make a reservation to be safe. Good for groups or dates.

Kathryn R.

Yelp
Absolutely cannot recommend this place enough, we had our wedding reception here and the staff was out of this world, the food was amazing, I have a serious food allergy and they made me feel so safe, Auggie is so special and absolutely was the reason the reception ran so smoothly, I know he worked SO hard to make it all possible, his communication throughout the process of planning was stellar, the ambiance of the reception was an absolute dream, the venue was perfect for what we were looking for, and again Auggie was just magic. Absolutely the best vendor we had and could not be more grateful forever for him!!! The entire staff was so kind and thoughtful and attentive, Cannot stop raving about the beautiful location and memories we made, we will be going back for years and years and years to come!!!

Yelp
Fun place, especially for the hipsters like me. We had a company party here and I had a great time. The food was a disappointing deduction, as well as the high prices. The decor was comfortable, DJ was energetic,!the drinks were tasty, and bartenders & waitstaff were professional & attentive. Just make sure that you have a secure ride to & from this establishment, because the neighborhood that it is located in is quite colorful :)

Yelp
So glad these guys are open for dining again! I went on opening night, and it was really great to see how spaced out the tables were and how gorgeous the ambiance still is. We started off with wine (of course) and I got the burger and fries. It was a perfect portion size to go with drinks, so I wasn't overly full. I used to come to Chambers all the time before the pandemic, so seeing them back in action was such a treat. The area around Chambers isn't the greatest, so just be mindful when you arrive and depart. Other than that, I LOVE this spot!

Kimberly V.

Yelp
Great food, amazing drinks, wonderful service! Yes, the area isn't the best, but the interior is amazing. Highly recommend

Yelp
This restaurant is really unique in many ways. I feel like this hotel used to be a motel 6, got bought out, and transformed into a boutique hotel from LA. It's great because they have fire pits, cabana seats, a cocktail bar and a high-profile restaurant. My favorite table is the communal table by the vinyl disc library. Me and some friends had dinner and celebrated my bday. I thought their burger was cooked perfectly, steak was grilled perfectly, and their desserts were delicious. I was given a free tiramisu cake with a candle! The food is a bit too pricey though with my table of 8 paying over $500! That's a lot of money for some tapas style food. Their cocktails are delicious especially the Santeria! I would def come back again but more for the lounging and drinking. The night vibes in here is great with lots of people and a medium-high voice tone atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
Really cool and intimate space inside. The decor and lighting is perfect for a date or small group of people. I absolutely loved the food and had the ahi tuna. The risotto was absolutely buttery and fluffy. The ahi tuna was absolutely delicious and pretty high quality. Will definitely be back :)

Yelp
Food was so yummy (tender steak, perfectly cooked crispy cauliflower, the best caeser salad, yummy drinks -- the pistachio rum one was so good!), staff was so so friendly and accommodated me sending a cake in advance to them for my husband's birthday. I didn't even have to remind them to bring it out after dinner! All in all just the loveliest dinner experience!!

Yelp
I was SO excited to come here for Valentine's Day. And yes, if we're just rating the ambiance this gets a 5/5. But this is about the food. Me and my boyfriend love going to nice restaurants for special occasions, or whenever we're in the mood. I say that to emphasize my next point, which is that I have a pretty good idea about price point versus quality of food. To be transparent, this place charged us nearly $200 for a few dishes that were NOT up to par with the price, ambience, and expectations. Carrots with couscous: the carrots were burnt and extremely dry. You don't have to taste it, you can tell from looking at my picture. The couscous was well cooked but bland. Octopus appetizer: very overcooked and rubbery. Octopus is one of my favorite appetizers that I love to order at restaurants when it is on the menu, and this was a real let down. The sauce, minced veggies, and rice base was good. Mac & cheese: don't get me wrong this was good, but it tasted SO average. Like mac & cheese I make at home. We couldn't taste a single drop of truffle which is the "uniqueness" of this mac & cheese. Pork: this was my favorite dish! The mustard seeds gave the dish such balance with the savory meat and the sweet applesauce. Which leads me to my next point, the house made applesauce was sent from the gods. Very textures, natural sweetness, and a great pair with the pork. Steak: this was good, cooked too rate for my liking despite asking for "medium." The chimichurry sauce poured on top was the star of the show, the meat didn't have much flavor without the sauce. Hazelnut cheesecake: exactly as delicious as you're imagining it. It tasted like a Nutella cheesecake! But with more richness, depth, and it was a pretty big slice. This place was on our list for a while, my boyfriend was especially excited because he had been waiting months to check this place out. As good as the cheesecake was, I don't think I'll be returning.

Yelp
my favorite hotel in SF!! always super accommodating and so much fun. thank you as always!

Yelp
Was told to come by- it's a different vibe and set to take you back... way back. And it did. This place has been here for years I've been told. It's a cool restaurant / bar and it has a hotel/ motel attached to it. Haven't seen that before so I like it. Cool cocktails inside as you're surround by vinyl albums or a quick walk to the back ans you can be poolside. We chose the cabanas facing the fire pits. We had our concerns addressed by Conor who was professional and able to handle our issue without a second thought. This place obviously values their customers. Had a few light bites and a few strong cocktails which led to a nice night. Great service. Highly recommended and of course, we'll be back. Nurses love a good cocktail and hospitality! Thanks Conor.

Yelp
It's been a long time since I have partied in SF or a bar here at that! I think this place is pretty cool! Came here for my cousins bday. Very spacious and great for big groups. Why I liked it was there is a hotel next to it called Phoenix or Chambers is located within Phoenix hotel? If you plan to drink a little too much, I would suggest to stay here. ;-) Pretty decent hotel inside for what they offered. Just don't go outside! Haha They have a pool and lounging chairs next Chambers. The neighborhood of this place is very questionable though!! We didn't park in one of the parking garages but on the street probably two blocks away. The two blocks that we passed were filled with homeless people!! Hella ghetto! One of the guys even pee'd in the middle of the street and in front of me?! Totally gross! So watch out! The one bartender was hustling but friendly, on point and our drinks never empty! They need more staff though. There is a lot of lounging chairs inside. There is a small dance floor or space to dance anywhere. In the front area of Chambers, it's an actual restaurant. Do not ask me about that since I haven't had it but the drinks. We would come back here again if I was to host a gathering. I would definitely need one of the rooms to stay next door though! Hahaha [20/100]

Yelp
A great find in the Tenderloin. Poolside Saturday dining was an afternoon treat in the private courtyard of the Phoenix Hotel, ringed with some pretty snazzy looking floor to ceiling glass pool-vow rooms. High quality skillfully prepared Spanish tapas, irresistible French toast, brunch burger with egg and fries, fresh fruit yogurt parfait. Great bartender, too, mixed me a memorably refreshing non-alcoholic grapefruit margarita with just a tiny splash of grenadine. On site parking is a big plus, but limited.

Yelp
Came here for brunch and it was pretty cool. The restaurant shared the space with the hotel, so we were able to eat next to the pool (poolside brunch). The food and drinks were delicious. The drinks were refreshing. They put a spin on their dishes, which sometimes doesn't work but luckily it worked out for some of the dishes we had. The servers were very kind. They were helpful with the menu and cracked jokes here and there with us, which was nice. I only gave it a four-star review because I think the price was a little high for the amount and quality of the food.

Yelp
I would LOVE to give this place 5 stars as the restaurant was super nice and had a variety of drinks, ambiance was perfect. Unfortunetely one of the servers was completely out of pocket and so rude! Literally made my jaw drop. (Jazzy was her name) We came with a large group for cocktails before a holiday party that was a few blocks away and also to check this place out for our company to potentially rent out for future events. (We work for a large tech company in DT) It was pouring rain outside and we sat outside in one of the covered cabanas to have our drinks and it was really nice out there. It had a Miami vice type of feel and it seems to be a nice place, especially during summer. As we finished up, we had called the Uber's and we all lingered inside by the bar to wait for the uber where it was dry and warmer. It was fairly crowded as we waited by the bar (as expected on a Friday night) and one of the servers politely asked if we can move to the side, which we did. We had 5 minutes for the uber to come, and that's when jazzy walks over and very rudely tells us servers need to get by and that we need to move NOW! (Mind you we are standing in the spot the last server had told us to wait at) The tone in her voice was extremely off-putting, so we said we can move but you can also ask us a little bit nicer as we are paying customers just waiting for our uber and your coworker just moved us here as we wait for our ride. She replies with, "do you need me to show you where the front door is?! Move out of my way" and shoves herself by us to go to the kitchen. All of us in the group were shocked, especially given that we came here to scope this restaurant out for future events for our company to see if it'd be a good fit. We honestly debated complaining to a manager but we had our rides arriving soon. We obviously will not be returning now given how rude she was and will definitely not be renting out any spaces for future events with our company here after this situation. I typically HATE writing bad yelp reviews, but this needed to be called out as it was extremely unprofessional. Prior to graduating college, I waited tables and I completely understand how busy and stressful it can be. I understand if she would have just asked us politely to move and politely tell us the servers need to get by...but the fact that she added the, "do you need me to show you where the front door is?! Move out of my way," took it a step too far. Funny thing was a separate party witnessed the whole thing and commented to us how rude that was of her too! I couldn't of ran out faster and had the nice lady in the front give me the name of the ride server. UPDATE: It has not even been 12 hrs and one do the servers Stephanie has responded privately to me with a response that clearly shows the type of character/server she is. (Screenshotted and added the photo to this) As you can see in other reviews from other customers, Stephanie must be stellar at her job. (LOL) clearly poor service is common with this server. Claiming for me to be empathetic as we are being pushed out by another server as it's pouring rain outside after spending hundreds of dollars here because we are waiting for our uber. Especially given that we were waiting in the area that the other (polite) server had asked us to wait. What an absolute nightmare and management here should really take a look and have a serious conversation with employees at how to treat and react to customers. This is the service industry and I have eaten and reviewed HUNDREDS of restaurants and have NEVER been treated this way. (Take a look at my other reviews for example and I think it gives a clear example that I highly dislike putting down restaurants unless it is absolutely deserve it. I think the only entitled people were jazzy and her friend/coworker Stephanie who clearly cannot take constructive criticism to help improve themselves for next time. These girls should not be in the service industry! (I will say the girl at the front and bartenders were all amazing and super friendly.)

Yelp
I came during June 2020 when limited outdoor seating was allowed. It was cold but they have heat lamp around, which was good enough. I ordered the Chambers Chopped Salad with the Medium-rare Salmon, which laid on a bed of corn purée, shishito peppers, mixed corn salsa, paired with a glass of Orsianna Cabernet Sauvignon. Food and drinks were great. All of the staff were really friendly.

Yelp
Came here for a simple, but fancy, Saturday dinner. For drinks, I ordered the #2 gin drink, while my friend ordered a crispin cider. The cocktail was extremely refreshing, and were it not for the fact that we were planning to go to a cocktail bar afterwards, I definitely would've ordered a second. For entrees, my friend and I both ordered New York Steak cooked medium rare. We were pleasantly surprised how every element on the plate blended so well together. Of course, the steak was the star of the show. But the taste was elevated with the sauce, and patatas bravado. Overall, the food and service were excellent. My only gripe is the seating. The couches had no cushion, and it basically felt like we were sitting on a hard piece of wood. There also wasn't much space between our seats and table, so it was hard to get in and out. I would recommend sitting at a table with barstools, rather than the "couches".

Yelp
Was here the night before my 30th birthday and It was a blast. Honestly hasn't changed since I was last here ~5 years ago. Super low key but chill vibes, cool bartenders, and not crazy busy which was nice. Slightly older crowd (late 20s/30s) which was exactly the evening we were looking for that night. Solid music. Come through Pros: Bartenders Drinks Ambiance Music Cons: Wish It was more packed if I was looking to get rowdy

Yelp
Ambiance: casual Chambers is located near the Phoenix hotel. They were hosting a pool part with was $20-40 door fee. They have super bnice and friendly bartenders. We had a party of 12 and was nicely seated. We ordere the eggs Benedict which was delicious. But needed more sauce. It also comes with a vinigier. The French toast was on the sweeter side. But very fluffy and filling. Will definitely go back to try the wagyu beef burger.

Yelp
Classy place with a chill vibe to get some cocktails with friends! Not exactly a place to get turnt or show off your best dance moves, but a nice place to grab an after dinner cocktail on a lowkey night. The bartenders were great and very attentive as I'd asked them early on to pour us glasses of champagne at midnight for my friend's birthday. Definitely check this place out - at the very least for the dope Insta #beamazing

Yelp
Disclaimer: A little scary walking to this place from the Civic Center Bart station to be honest. But then again, I'm kinda sheltered, weak in the knees and have a sensitive sense of smell. The space is amazing and super hip with hundreds of old records lining the bookshelves. I felt too square to be in a place this cool. What drew us here was all the awesome pics of that pork belly! I had to order something else so that we could try two entrees and eyed the Japanese Wagyu Burger for brunch. Verdict: we were slightly disappointed in the execution of the coveted pork belly! The meat portion wasn't as tender and the skin was not crispy, but chewy instead. One of the two soft boiled eggs was perfectly cooked, but the potatoes were done well. The portion of pork belly has decreased since the first pics were posted while the price has increased. Hmmm. The wagyu burger was really yummy and we were pleasantly surprised that our second choice turned out to be the winner. Deliciously moist patty with a crispy coating on the outside was soo good. Crisp, thin fries completed the meal of course. The food was good, but I don't think I'll return unless I Uber here. Not worth the walk for me and the small slab of pork belly was disappointing.

Yelp
Went on a Friday night. It was elegant and the service was great! We ordered most of the appetizers, they were all delicious besides the bone marrow, I remember it being very salty. The sizzling Kobe beef came in a very small amount and was medium rare just how I like but the pork belly! It had a crisp when you bite it and it melts right in your mouth. The drinks were strong and the setting was intimate, definitely a cute place for a first date. Came in to celebrate my birthday and they gave our table a complimentary dessert at the end of the night. Thank you Chambers!

Yelp
We hosted our company event in Chambers and we couldn't have been happier with the results! The staff was amazing, the food was delicious and the drinks were great! We added the coffee & hot chocolate bar which surprisingly were a huge hit!! We also opted for the photo booth which was full the entire evening. The DJ and disco ball were the finishing touches to a great evening. Thank you Chambers!!!

Yelp
Wouldn't ever come back here because of the service. Our server Stephanie, did not come to our table except to deliver drinks, after 10 minutes of empty glasses and having to wave her down for everything. Literally never came to check on us or anything, ask how we were doing, etc. Especially at the end. We had to wave her down for anything. We felt like an inconvenience to our busser as well, who gave super super very awkward attitude to us trying to order a drink we had ordered at the bar. We had an empty mini Absolut bottle on the table and the server was super rude about telling us we couldn't have it in the restaurant and said she "would be back to deal with us". We were here for a bachelorette party, the bride-to-be wearing her sash. ANYTHING to make it feel special, as it was our last night here, would've been nice. Even a nice Congrats would've been cool! We all work in the service industry in Las Vegas (I'm a bartender) and were ready to spend money and celebrate and we either received no service or rude service. Drinks? Great. Awesome. Bartenders making custom drinks, playlist based off Sublime hits. Stellar. The ambiance was fabbbbbb. Ordered a pork chop - almost completely all fat. We didn't want to say anything because of the service, but yeah. Our server did take it off though, which was nice! Also, told the bride there could only be one card, then us four, and then told us it couldn't be itemized until the end. I have worked with the same POS system and it's doable. And also dropped the check without telling us what the $59.50 charge listed on the bottom was until we had to wave her down and asked her. Us trying to separate everything at the end of the dinner was a huge downer. We didn't even know what some of the charges were - example, ordered a Mojito on our bill it was a "Baptiste".... like a bartender, it takes a few seconds to explain things correctly, especially since she left us alone to break it down. Portions are small and expensive, but that doesn't matter if the service is good. Our food was decent but wasn't enough to justify how terrible of a time we had. Worst dinner of our entire weekend.

Yelp
When Chambers opened in 2011, it was my "go to" spot. I now live near Half Moon Bay and when my GF wanted to use our open night for a dinner out (and given the recent reopening of dining), my first thought was Chambers and she agreed, having experienced it before. Reservations were a breeze and Orlando was nice enough to let us use the "house" aka Hotel Phoenix parking lot (last spot though) as our SUV doors didn't all lock. As you may know, the neighborhood is a little dicey but when you walk in, it's a whole different world! Isabel Manchester is still rocking the house, the FOH staff are welcoming & efficient and the drinks are as on point as before... the food/ambience are as stellar as ever (Chef Anthony is still fantastic and the patatas bravas are better than ANY tapas place in SF). Highly recommended!!

Yelp
This was my second visit to Chambers- I reluctantly came back although I wasn't that impressed the first time since my colleague made reservations here, and I remain not that impressed by their food and service. Ambiance is nice since it's on the swanky side, but the food won't blow you away. This time around, I tried: -Red Quinoa Salad (Prosciutto, Arugula, Stone Fruit, Shaved Rhubarb, Sunflower Seeds, Angostura Bitters Vinaigrette, $13, http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/chambers-san-francisco-3?select=OIwB0xiTLcrmw9u0U7l9MA#OIwB0xiTLcrmw9u0U7l9MA): Ok, but I didn't think the ingredients worked that well together. The quinoa was also cooked very al dente, and on the crunchy side. I prefer my quinoa fluffier, and wouldn't order this dish again. -Chambers Burger (Smoked Onion Marmalade, Butter Lettuce, Cheese, Challah Bun, Served w/Kennebec Fries, $15 + Pork Belly $3, http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/chambers-san-francisco-3?select=OIwB0xiTLcrmw9u0U7l9MA#a7oHYWEuZUTqhh0ybFXRCQ): An ok burger, but nothing special, not even with the addition of the pork belly. At least the fries were nice and crispy. Service was good, but there are too many other nice restaurants in SF, and I doubt I'll be back here again. Parking is hit or miss depending on when you come, but there is street parking available around here.

Yelp
First time dining out since quarantine... They seemed short staffed and unorganized, which is understandable. The out door seating offered 6ft+ distance w/ all tables and thankfully outdoor heaters. The drink menu was pretty basic, but drinks were decent. I ordered the pasta and was just disappointed w/ the flavor, maybe my least favorite pasta ever. The servers & staff were friendly and were enforcing mask policy which was good!

Yelp
Trendy, and hip. Love the vibe. Met my daughter for dinner last night and immediately knew I had selected the perfect place for her! We were quickly seated, albeit at a table where I could have used at booster seat. Too low for someone 5'4". The menu has a variety of small plates and dinners selections. She was hungry so the apps flew at us quick. Starts with an artisan cheese and fruit plate, scarce but delicious, Brussels spouts, totally yummy, and ceviche, smoky flavored and delicious also. We then moved to sharing the pork chop. It was coated with most most flavorful crumbs and seemed to be quickly deep fried. It was accompanied by asparagus and a rich BBQ sauce and slaw. Excellent meal. After dinner we toured the patio connected to the hotel. Totally cool for the younger set. We made our way into the amazing bar where the was a tech meet up going on. Really fun people watching. My daughter is going back for sure. I liked it but it was a little loud for my tastes.

Yelp
Located on the Phoenix Hotel property, Chambers is a real hidden gem in Tenderloin. So hidden that finding it is a little confusing - the entrance is on Eddy St through the brown double doors. Chambers has a GORGEOUS inside... the ambiance is so chic and modern with walls divided by shelves of records. There's even that "BE AMAZING" sign at the bar which seems iconic to this place. This is a nice place in Tenderloin for a romantic and intimate date. Too bad they sat us OUTSIDE despite having reservations. I was pretty peeved when I found out later that they had 2 reservation systems, and for that particular night there were a lot of conflicts in the system for bookings. I really would have loved to sit inside and enjoy the decor... but had to settle for a heated outdoor patio next to the pool. Don't get me wrong - the pool at Phoenix Hotel is gorgeous, but our view wasn't so great since they had put down wall drapes in the patio wall. So we could see the pool through a plastic screen. On the bright side, it was quieter so I could hear my partner better, but it also made for a kind of eeriness. Aside from that slight oversight, the food is geared towards Asian fusion and is pretty damn good. We had a Gilt City voucher for a $150 dining credit (paid $80), so we ordered a bunch of small plates to try a variety. Our server was nice enough to space them out like courses, thus we had the following: - Sizzling Kobe Tri-Tip ($16): THIS WAS DELICIOUS... ~6 slices of kobe beef still cooking on a sizzling stone. I like my meat medium rare, so it was nice to control that. Because the beef is already sliced, you can taste the delicious meat juices at full capacity without cutting into it. Honestly the yuzu-soy sauce did nothing for this meat - it was delicious on its own. So delicious that we ordered it twice since the portion is pretty tiny. - Pancetta Wrapped Dates ($9): I had high hopes for this, but at the end of the day it was lackluster. It wasn't bad... but it tasted so generic. I would've been fine with just bacon wrapped dates from Starbuck's late night menu. I would pass as you're paying $3 per skewer. - Oyster Bao Bun ($12): These were surprisingly good! Oysters crispy and bao was fluffy/tasty on its own. The remoulade sauce and tabasco gave it a nice Creole kick. It was an interesting combination of Creole + Asian flavors. Too bad the portion was quite small (3 per serving), but we ordered 2 of these anyways. - Potato Gnocchi ($14): Sauce and mushrooms were on-point. The gnocchi itself is kind of soggy - still tasty, but I expect a bit of bite and chewiness in my gnocchi. - Crispy Pork Belly ($15): Honestly this was disappointing - not only is it expensive for the portion, it's not very crispy and the texture of the soft fat is kind of unappealing. Flavor wise it was kind of all over the place with the fig chutney and bacon sherry sauce - it just didn't go well together. - Fried Brussel Sprouts ($8): 2nd best thing we had that night... the portion surprised us because it was so big compared to the rest of the dishes! The brussel sprouts are flash fried so they get that really nice char flavor. Tossed with the Gochujang sauce, you get a nice Korean spice that goes well with the savory Parmesan cheese. This was well worth the price. - Alive ($12): Cucumber, mint, agave, and vodka - what's not to like? It was a refreshing drink that paired well with all the savory items I had. I prefer my drinks on the sweeter side, but this had a good balance of being strong and sweet. They also have non-alcoholic cocktails for designated drivers... unfortunately I couldn't remember the names of them, but my companion had a carrot juice + yuzu cocktail that they seemed to enjoy, It certainly looked like a cocktail - way to make those designated drivers not feel left out. Overall... good food and great ambiance (assuming you sit outside in the winter and not in the covered patio). It's kind of an oasis in gritty neighborhood of Tenderloin (BTW, just take an Uber here as the area was super sketch at night). Portions are small and pricey, but if you come here with a discounted voucher or only want drinks with a few bites (Kobe Tri-Tip and brussel sprouts), then it's well worth it IMO.

Yelp
I love their interior décor, as it has a retro vibe that brings you back to the time when records were popular. The egg in a hole was delicious, although a very simple dish. We asked for medium poached eggs, and the yolk was just the right amount of runniness. The toast was toasted perfectly! The soufflé pancake was also tasty as well, but I had to adjust my taste since it was thicker/heavier than previous pancakes I've had. I loved how the maple ice cream, berry sauce, and berries complemented the pancake. The service is super nice, and our waitress even switched out our plates and silverware in between our courses! This restaurant can be a little hard to find, but it's not called a hidden gem for nothing!

Yelp
My friend who I was staying with lives in the area so thanks to Yelp, I found this place so we could brunch before heading out for a day of me being an SFO tourist. We were seated instantly and at 11am it wasn't busy yet. I had a French press coffee and the granola with yogurt. My friend had OJ and made her own plate of challah toast with eggs. Everything was fresh and good, and the service was great too. Solid local brunch spot.

Yelp
We ordered the lamb burger, regular burger, and the pork with veggies. Burgers itself was ok, but buns were stale. The fries that came with the burgers were underdone and flaccid.

Yelp
I love the ambiance here. Dim lighting, great service, fancy furniture and vinyl records on the wall- this place feels like a hidden gem. I ordered the Japanese Style Croquette Burger. This was amazing. The brioche was toasted perfectly and there was just a dash of mayonnaise enough for taste. The Croquette itself was all meat and grilled to a medium rare. It was so tender. The house vinaigrette was a little too oily for my taste BUT the burger blew me away. My boyfriend ordered the Pork Belly. Although only a cube of Pork Belly came with the dish, everything on the plate was amazing. I have no idea what was on those Yukon potatoes but boy, were they out of this world!! I am coming back next time and ordering them just as a side of they're made the same way. The two soft boiled eggs were done perfectly- best I've ever had. Overall, I would love to return here. I want to try their drinks next time as well as get more of those potatoes.

Yelp
If you find yourself in TL area you have to check it out. The neighbor isn't the best but it's definitely a hidden gem. Upon entrance you're greeted with a soft ambiance lighting of records and beige curtains. Entire party must be present to be seated. The entire restaurant has a 60/70 classy energy with more vinyl records tucked away in the walls, dim lighting and large art work. From the dining area, you can see the view of the retro Phoenix Hotel and pool. In the back bar, has a small open area with lounge couches and a light up sign "Be Amazing". After 9pm, the back bar has a live DJ. The food has so much flavor packed in except the Tots; tots come with two dipping sauces that isn't too exciting. The cauliflower is colorful and spicy; a must! I had the Short Rib with mashed potatoes. The best meal I've had in a long time! This plate was a melt in your mouth short rib; recommend medium rare. Would visit this place again

Yelp
A very nice and romantic ambiance. Perfect for date nights with amazing food and even better cocktails! Loved the atmosphere more than anything though! The food was good but we weren't too hungry so we didn't get to try too many things! The neighborhood was a bit sketchy so definitely Uber/Lyft, not an area to walk around in.

Yelp
Located in the heart of the Tenderloin area of San Francisco, you can find a great restaurant that is Chambers, which is also to the side of the Phoenix Hotel, where you'll often see DJ's play at pool parties during the summer time. My friends and I came here to celebrate one of our friends who recently got a new job over food and drinks. The neighborhood isn't the nicest of all places, which makes sense that the restaurant itself doesn't have the most welcoming exterior (literally just looks like a rectangular box); however, the inside is decorated well so that its guests can experience a somewhat loungey and comfy feel with its shelves housing many old school vinyls. We ordered a couple of starters for the table: short rib croquettes, crispy pork belly, and the summer cheese plate (must get if you like an assortment of cheeses with honey comb). The crispy pork belly basically melted in our mouths when it came out with the melon, chili sauce, and the mint (definitely a must try)! The short rib croquettes were kind of whatever, but the cheese plate was bomb. For my entree, I ordered the pan seared king salmon, which was neatly presented with some clams, a sort of corn puree, and an assortment of summer veggies. I'm glad that they seared the skin side of the salmon extra long because the crispy texture brought the dish to the next level. If you're in the mood for dessert, you're in luck. Their bread pudding and chocolate tall cake are one of the best desserts I've had, and I don't even like sweets!
