"Champion Coffee, after 15 years in Greenpoint, closes its doors today. The pandemic had forced the owners to close all three of the mini coffee chain’s Manhattan locations as well." - Eater Staff

Cool place - the usual post-industrial decor vibe, Pitchfork playlist and Wes Anderson palette. The coffee was tasty but not hot enough for me. Not cheap even for Greenpoint. NYT available to read.

Great spot with high quality coffee, lots of seating and beautiful patio. Very friendly staff and good music.

Coffee is definitely not the best in the neighborhood, but decent. Great Avocado toast and they have Matcha. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Great coffee & almond croissant. Quiet ambient music. Good place to work.

We had a stop because of the cold weather but we liked the place . Coffee and music were excellent.

Nice, minimalist, clean store space. Good cortado, we’ll made, properly thick and strong, with a little coffee art on top, which I don’t care about in itself, but I like the reassurance of knowing they know how to do it. They encourage drinking in, reducing disposable cups, which is great. They also use comparable straws. Decent looking food menu. Nice garden out back. Friendly staff and quick service. It’s a big store with lots of space inside and out. The seating is spread out, so there less of it than there could be, but you’re not sitting on top of one another, which is nice. The prices seem a bit steep for the area—it’s about the same as Manhattan or park slope, while I’d expect it to be fifty cents or so less, so if I lived in the area I’d probably shop around to see if there’s someplace equally good but a little more sensible re pricing.

As a VP of major consumer goods cooperation, I do appreciate the industry and the people working in it. I went with with 5 people for a coffee and something to eat. We were the only people ordering, the service (taking orders) was way below average because the two people working there were really rude and their attitude was unwelcoming at all. The cashier got annoyed because we forgot to order a coffee and we had to place a new order. And she got more annoyed when I asked to see the different cup sizes. To be fair, the coffee and the muffin were good. It’s a pity because we just moved to the neighborhood and that could’ve been our regular coffee shop.

This petite place doesn't have a lot of room for sitting in but it does have some pretty good coffee - so get one to go. As it was December, I ordered an eggnog mocha (nice but strange) which perked me up no end!
