Where to Eat Near Caesars Superdome in New Orleans

"The official tailgate area adjacent to the stadium where fans gather before games; fans also stage unofficial tailgates under nearby overpasses, creating a widespread, festive pregame culture." - Adam H. Callaghan

Great night spent at Champion Square. This was money well spent. We had a great time. Teddy swims put on a great show. It was expensive (drinks $20 20oz, $7.00 fountain drink, nachos $10 reg $15 ultra and several more items) but we were expecting it to be pricey and planned accordingly. It was a packed house but didn't feel cramped. Typical hot Louisiana summer night. The venue provided water. It was clean and well staffed. The atmosphere was on fire. I laughed, I cried, I made memories tbat will last a lifetime. Thank you Champion Square for this amazing spot and hosting such spectacular entertainment.

The Square of Champions Read Time 1-2 mins First of all let me start by screaming WHO DAT! Now that my New Orleans girl nature has reared its Saints head. I must say it is always a pleasure going to Champions Square. During the Saints Season and at home games, the square is filled with football fanatics, food and drink venders and fun games to play. The tailgating that happens here is phenomenal and can only be described best by an in-person experience. Jeanne’ Jasmine Thompson IG: itsjayjasmine

Nice events area just outside the Superdome stadium. I visited it during a Saints gameday and there was a lot of activity going on within the area. There were tailgates, a concert, fan meetups, and many other activities going on before the game started. There was plenty of space to move around and even though it was crowded, I never felt like I was cramped in a tiny space. They had food and drinks for sell and there was even other merchandise being sold in the area too. There is very little shading so during hot days, be aware of that fact. If there is a concert ongoing, it is going to get loud, as concerts tend to do. Other than that, nice pre-game activity space.

If you're ok with standing or sitting on stone steps the entire time, then go for it. It wasn't a bad experience but not sure I would go to event here again. Unless it was someone I really wanted to see... like Teddy Swims!

Went to catch H.E.R. in concert. Finally nice to get out to a concert after the Pandemic. The seats were good. Close to stage so didn't need to look at a giant screen. The sound was great. She really performed......great concert. Was a mix of new and old material and she is super talented playing multiple instruments. Would go here again.

Not a fan. This venue pretty much has nothing to offer. Hard stone/concrete surfaces only, everywhere. Nowhere to sit except on the stairs at the extreme back. Buildings block the breeze too. Could be a discount venue or something, but not at today's ticket prices and then add insult to injury at $17 for a seltzer. Ridiculous.

Oh, let me rave about my visit to Champions Square in New Orleans! 🏟️ This place is an absolute dream for sports fans like me. The pre-game atmosphere is electric, with fans cheering and getting pumped up for the big game. The variety of food and drink options is top-notch, ensuring you stay fueled throughout the event. The staff are friendly and helpful, making sure you have the best time cheering on your favorite team. Head to Champions Square for a sports experience you won't soon forget! 🏈🎉

Yelp
What a location for outside music! The gods opened the clouds from an afternoon rain storm and it was pleasant temperature and wind blew ever slightly. Seating of reserved seats was good - but numbering system was nonexistent. Crowd mgmt was well orchestrated. Music was Bush, Live and Our Lady Peace. Acoustics for last band needed - Bush - was off for first half but quickly fixed. As usual alcohol and food were overpriced and undersized for value. Not much to be done there....

Yelp
We got VIP for the Mumford and Sone concert. Sadly we didn't get any food so I guess I can't put that here, the service was alright. Love it in the VIP section! But why other than the merch stand is EVERYTHING Bud Light?! Like it's annoying! We don't need like 10 stands. We got our merch and it was nice still. Luckily it still gets a 3 (If it was the overall concert then it won't be that lucky) but anyways. It was kinda annoying that literal soft drinks in those stands were only there for "Mixing", um who mixes soft drinks and literal beer. Worst rating yet, sorry you guys :(

Yelp
This area is out in front of the Super Dome and it was jamming! There was a stage with live music and loads of people hanging out having a great time pre game. What a great atmosphere. There were security folks everywhere which made it feel safe.

Yelp
A nice open space set up before games and activities in the Superdome. Great location with a huge stage lots of activities plenty of food and a big crowd. Inside is a concession area that has a number of different things pulled pork, brisket nachos and pizza as well as beverages. Tons of beverage stands around as well places for people to talk. Take pictures. Just sit and enjoy getting ready for the big game.

Yelp
This is a terrific venue for live music, and I wish they had more concerts here. I had the pleasure of seeing Alt-J for the first time at this venue then Anderson .Paak, which were two of the best shows I've ever seen! The acoustics that resonate through the amphitheater style seating, and the ability for magnificent visual effects, make this a great place to see a larger concert, without sacrificing the view, or sound. I love that it is outdoors, so you don't have the stuffiness of some of the indoor venues. I appreciate that they have a great beer selection at numerous beverage vendors. You have the choice of standing on the floor closer to the stage, or sitting in the seats, but no matter where you are, you'll be able to see and hear the concert perfectly. I absolutely love the experience here, and cannot wait to go back!

Yelp
Live Nation Kickoff to Summer $20 concert tickets is the best time to grab so many tickets to the best show in town. Tonight, my concert buddy and I got to catch Lindsey Stirling and Evanescence. The weather was actually nice, not too warm or humid. Most concert starts around 7pm so I suggest parking at a meters since it's free after 7pm. I only paid parking for $1:60 and it was a walking distance across from the square.

Yelp
Champions Square continues to improve every year. When it first opened in August 2010 it was pretty basic in design and concept. Just a big open outdoor place for Saints fans to congregate before heading into the dome. Back then they didn't have permanent restrooms or even a permanent stage. They didn't think it was a good idea to even provide seating for us loyal fans. Everyone had to stand around the whole time they were there. Fast forward to today and Champions Square is something to be proud of. Free concert before every Saints game. There is a huge permanent stage. They have real restrooms now not those yucky portable restrooms. They built the beautiful grand staircase that leads right up to the dome. They also built a four level balcony on the east side of the plaza. And finally they thought of building an indoor area (Opening Act) where fans can SIT. You can also watch the game now on the numerous TV's in Opening Act. Of course food and beverages are sold at the square. The prices are a little high but at least they have stepped up their game. The food is much improved and the liquor is all premium brands. Their well brands are Bombay, Grey Goose, Ciroc, Crown, Jack, etc. Champions Square is an ideal spot for large crowds as it can hold thousands comfortably. Just in the last two years they have been holding numerous concerts here. While the square still needs more improvements (more seating is still necessary) it is an asset to the Superdome and New Orleans.

Yelp
How is it possible that Champions Square has zero reviews? That's just weird. This is the space created adjacent to the superdome for partying/concerts/what not before you wander into the superdome. It seems really big when it's empty...but then you're packed in with a bunch of other fans and it seems quite small. Still it's a great space to enjoy before you head into the dome...or for a random concerts that sometimes occur. I think my favorite thing is that it feels like a canyon (pretty rare in NOLA, y'know) so besides enjoying whatevers going on, I can also pretend I'm in an old western. Yes, I know that's odd, but there ya go.

Yelp
I love the open concert of this improvised music venue. Every concert is a unique experience, the sound quality was awesome, and the visual screens are a nice touch too. I've attended shows to see quite a a few musical acts including 30 Seconds to Mars, Incubus, Jimmy Eat World, Judah and the Lion and more at this venue. The only area I'm not fond of is the multiple bars throughout the venue. The mixed drinks and icy blended drinks taste like a sweet juice or slushy without much liquor. This is definitely a place for outdoorsy music lovers to come for a good time. However, I'm inclined to skip the drinks the next time I make it to a show but cannot wait for my next visit. If you love music and being outdoors-check it out

Yelp
How much fun caN you have before the ULTIMATE fun of the Superdome experience? Every time we come to a game at the Superdome, our "pregame fun" is always supplied by the events of champions square. Live music, cold drinks, tons of people... an electric environment to get you pumped up before the game. Definitely a must do!

Yelp
This is a shockingly good setup for a music venue. I was a little skeptical, but purchased general admission tickets for The Cult/Bush/Stone Temple Pilots. The stairs leading to the Superdome are PERFECT for those of us who just want to hang back and enjoy the music. Drink options are plentiful, both outside at several booths and inside the Opening Act bar. Sound quality is great. I wouldn't hesitate to attend another concert here.

Yelp
I loved this venue last night for Evanescence and Lindsey Stirling. It's chill and not overwhelming. Also, it's outdoors and spacious and the bars aren't overcrowded. The stage lights up at night and it's a magical feeling. We didn't have VIP tickets but still felt super close and there was space to move around and dance and talk. The bars have a good variety of drinks. Wine is expensive but cocktails were pretty reasonable. I'd definitely be excited to go back for more shows.

Yelp
It was my first time here and it wasn't even for something Saints related! I actually went to the free REO Speedwagon show here and I had a great time. Oh, I'm gonna keep on lovin' you! This is a great spot. For this concert, it wasn't super packed so we got to get pretty close to the stage. I like that the area is nicely paved, and for this particular show, they had an assortment of food trucks as well as trucks that were selling beer and daiquiris. The drinks are a little pricey, but that's not a big deal when you are here for an event. Security was out in force, so we felt safe and we had a really good time. Oh, and bonus points for super nice restrooms! I definitely want to go back and get the full experience right before a Saints game. I imagine that that's a lot of fun.

Yelp
This fairly new concert venue is a great addition to the New Orleans area. It is an outdoor venue so severe weather would probably cancel any event held here. I have also been to a summer concert here. It was at night but still miserably hot. Beyond some weather limitations it is a really cool spot. Some of the events are standing only but some will have reserved seating. There is an indoor lounge area with seating and a bar. Vendors outside sell a wide array of beverages and food, everything from beer to wine to Daiquiris to funnel cakes. ATMs are available and a lot of the vendors do accept credit cards. Tip: ladies bring a small purse. It doesn't have to be see through like the Saints games but it can't be big. Guys leave the wallet chains at home, they will not let you bring it in.

Yelp
I am a Panthers fan and I have to say this was a absolute blast. Thanks for the great hospitality! The music is on point, food options, bars. this experience before the game as assured my decision to make this a yearly trip!

Yelp
I'm a die hard Saints fan, a proud member of the Who Dat Nation, bleed Black and Gold and all the other cliches but also a realist. Champions Square getting 3 stars is not indicative of my lack of love for the Saints. It's just being honest to what the place is. Champion Square is nothing more than a smart business move by Tom Benson to capitilize on tailgating. What is it really? It's a big outdoor area with pictures of New Orleans/Louisiana sports moments, a big tv, and vendors selling food and beer. The only real time anything is going on is during Saints games. The idea is cool, it allows us early birds a cool enviroment to shell out 5.00 for a can of beer before taking our place inside where we will then be drunk enough to pay 10.00 for that same beer. The problem I have is it's identity. It's called Champions Square. The Saints only have 1 as of now. I guess they are piggy backing on LSU's 2 recent championships as well with a huge picture of Les Miles holding up the 2007 Championship trophy. There's a huge picture of Pistol Pete Maravich as well. I know he's a beloved Louisiana icon but what did he win? Is this suppose to be a tribute area to Louisiana Sports? a tribute to sports moments in the Superdome? Maybe add a little museum of those things or more monuments. Until then it's just really bad 80's cover bands playing on a stage while a bunch of drunken Who Dat's wait for the gates to open.....not that there is anything wrong with that.

Yelp
This place allows smoking. I came from out of state. I travel for concerts often and I haven't been in a venue, inside or outside, that allows smoking in at least 10 years so I didn't think to check such a thing. Judging by the sheer amount of people smoking around me, I suppose most of them would consider this a plus. But for us, we drove 8 hours to see a show my husband was really excited about, but he has asthma. We got reserved seating only a few rows away from the stage, but the ppl directly behind us were chainsmoking the ENTIRE concert and we ended up abandoning our great seats to stand in general admission. Even there, it's impossible to avoid so we ended up leaving the show early. Fairly disappointing after traveling so far and paying for good seats. I suppose now I know that's something to consider if I ever see another show in Louisiana.

Yelp
Are you kidding? An outside venue in New Orleans??? Summer is impossible in New Orleans, even inside with A/C. I'm a native & I'd NEVER pay for an event at an outdoor venue in New Orleans. The best (worst) part of the deal, it's rain or shine at this venue --- no refunds!!!!

Yelp
I used to work security at a concert venue in Florida, and I was impressed at how smoothly this venue was run. Went to will call and had no problem picking up my ticket. My partner forgot to print his out and had no problem getting in with the PDF on his phone. The people waiting at the front gates were all processed quickly and efficiently when they were first opened. We went inside and ordered dinner and drinks from their inside food court with no problem or hassle. I was actually impressed by the quality of the beef in my roast beef po-boy, though the bread was lackluster and by the end was a mass of quivering bread goo on my cardboard tray. I was also surprised at how good of a view we had with our GA tickets. We saw the whole show from a good vantage point that was also very close to food and beverage stands. There were long lines at the beverage stands and in the bathrooms between acts, but that's pretty much to be expected. We spent about $20 on a po'boy, jambalaya, and drinks, which wasn't bad. I'm not an expert on sound design, but I enjoyed the volume and quality of the music. We parked in a nearby garage that was easy to get to, and the staff at the event seemed to have things well in hand. The night was pretty pricey overall, but that was to be expected, and I was more happy with the experience than I would have been at the events I used to work for (and at previous concerts I've been to in NOLA).

Yelp
Awesome outdoor arena, however it is ALL STANDING - GENERAL ADMISSION so make sure you get there early if you want to be up close to the stage. They have a few food/drink vendors, nothing crazy.
google avatar

Yelp
Have been before Saints games & had a good time. It is an all outdoor venue so you have to understand the weather of the area. The food and drinks for games are expensive but not above what would be expected for the type of events & everything has always been tasty. The reason for my poor star rating is the fact that we were there for a concert (dropped off so no car) and had a mid-size backpack. It was a very expensive bag & security made us throw it away. I had checked before the event & there was nothing about bag restrictions on the venue site, artist's tour site or in the 4 emails received from ticket master. There was plenty concern about ensuring no one scalped tickets which led to a disaster & extra trips to the dome. I have no problem with reasonable bag restrictions but they should be posted in advance so that people can properly plan. Other people in our group had small backpacks & they were allowed with only half of them being searched. To me this proves safety isn't there real concern. They just set rules to put on a safety facade.

Yelp
It's not the fault of the creator that I was so miserable. It's just that a place like this doesn't work in NO because of the heat. It was unbearable before the Saints-Falcons opening season game. Evidence of this is the fact that there really weren't many people there. My daughter and I were drenched before we called it quits and headed into the regrigerator that is also called 'da Dome. I may try again when it's cooler.....or not. The food and drink looked passable, but not good enough to make it worth the heat.

Andre T.

Yelp
We went to a great concert and bought tickets for Row 17, where you'd think you would be able to see the stage. What a big disappointment. The floor is flat so the people in Row 16 were blocking our view. We spent all our time peeking around their heads. The stage needs to be another 5' higher or the seating floor needs to have an angle. Our show had performers you wanted to see and we couldn't do that comfortably. When the tall people in front of us left, it was great!! Wish we had bought cheap seats on the stairs in the back and brought binoculars.
google avatar

Colin K.

Yelp
They recently started using this spot for music events and I must say how underwhelming the sound quality is here. Please please please add more speakers behind the crowd to create a better sound sphere. You can casually talk to the person next to you the sound quality is so mediocre.
google avatar

Tammy R.

Yelp
Fun pre game events!! Awesome music and fun crowds! Bit packed and alcohol lines a bit long but wished I had gotten there e SB earlier to hang out! (We got there. 90 min before game time)

Yelp
Love Champion Square for a pre Saints game. Absolutely HORRIBLE place for a concert. Concert was put on hold for drizzling rain ...they made everyone evacuate to the garages then let everyone back in with no order whatsoever so people with cheap tickets got up front and people with VIP were out of a seat. Very unorganized. It's an outdoor concert in New Orleans in July, it's gonna rain people. Plan better. Concert resumed but was cut short. Definitely won't be going back
