This is a new venue on Capitol Hill and we wanted to visit to show some support and check out the space (I haven't been since the prior occupants were there). The ambience is charming, lots of actual chandeliers, mirrors, and bright colors. Bossa nova covers of pop songs played throughout the night. It reminded us of some of the bars in Hell's Kitchen. There was a group of us and we ordered an array of appetizers, entrees, and drinks. We had some decent bites and also have a few notes for the kitchen.
Our favorite food item was the Chandelier Wings (Buffalo). These were great and we were sparing over the last wing. We also liked the Lobster Ravioli. The Chicken Croquettes felt a little burnt, and also a tad greasy. My husband ordered the Fish and Chips and the condiment jar containing his tarter sauce was almost empty when the dish arrived. Similarly, our friend ordered the Drunken Mussels, and the dish arrived with a mussel missing from the otherwise-eloquently displayed dish.
The drink menu is inventive and the drinks were well presented. Some were better than others. I had the Chandelier Sparkle. It was a beautiful drink but the flavor balance was slightly a-miss, as was the glitter (it fell off with the Prosecco foam). My husband had the Old Fashion (off-menu, but a bar classic). It was not to sweet, but also perhaps a bit too watery. My husband also had the Mango Margarita and he liked this drink.
I think there is potential here. It a cute space with a dedicated staff. I think there are some great options on the menu but some items could use a little more finesse. We look forward to seeing how Chandelier evolves in the coming months.
