"Our Favorite Dishes: Million Layer Pancake, Shanghai Style Noodles, Crab “Pao” In the same strip mall as Mian is Jin Jiang, or what everyone actually calls it, J&J. They’ve been in the same spot for nearly 30 years, and it’s the kind of place where you’ll walk in to see your server cracking crabs at a table in the corner. In other words, it’s glorious. The dumplings and noodles are the things to eat here, especially the thick, soy-sauce covered (but still light) Shanghai Style Noodles." - jess basser sanders, amy clark, brant cox, brett keating

"Head to San Gabriel for a heavy-hitting $20 lunch. Diners choose a single dish from each of the four categories: appetizers, main course, grilled skewers, and rice. Dig into a half dozen wings, sweet and sour shrimp, and a lamb shoulder skewer." - Cathy Chaplin

"Although there aren’t many dineLA options in the SGV, at least the one at Chang’an is pretty exceptional. That’s thanks to a $39 steal that includes five dishes from a selection of some of the restaurant most popular items. Think tenderloin cubes, wei-jiao tofu, and lamb shoulder skewers." - Crystal Coser

A fresh fusion take on food. We loved the Skewers and the Oysters. The garnishing on the lamb skewers was delicious. I loved the pepper and the oysters lived up to the expectations. Remember they have a happy hour on much of the food and you are going to love the food regardless of the prices. We did not experience the wine list or drinks but they had a good option list. The place is lively, bright and fun without being over crowded.

We came on a busy night. I’ve read teviews that service is supposed to be great here. I felt like the waitstaff was a bit understaffed and were hard to track to get what we needed. They came around more towards the end of our meal and apologized for being so busy tho so I guess that’s that. Our food didn’t arrive all at once which was kind of annoying. Spicy grilled squid: my fav dish of the night! Tasted almost like a Thai dish with the lime & spicy Thai chili flavor on it! It was super spicy tho, I was the only one in our group who could eat it and actually enjoy it. Yay cuz that’s meant more for me! Jidori chicken: nice and crispy skin and flavorful meat. Sauces are pretty basic- ketchup & sweet chili sauce. I expected an aioli or other housemade sauce tbh like a soy sauce dip but it was good enough with the sweet chili sauce. Sautéed eggplant: I love how the eggplant itself is chopped small. It was absolutely fragrant right as the dish was set on our table! There’s a couple pieces of shrimp so vegetarians be aware! It’s a light garlicky sauté that was pretty good. Good serving size too! Lamb skewer: a little salty but would pair so well with some beer and rice!

This place brings Chinese food to a new level. Each dish is well thought out and designed. The presentation of the food is excellent. Service is great. Great place to bring a date or work functions :)

Thanks for the DineLA program, we were able to find this great restaurant with some great seafoods such as steamed scallops and steamed oystets at a great price at $3.98 and $2.98, respectively. The uploaded pictures are steamed scallops, steamed oystets, garlic chicken wings, W J tofu, tend cubes, sweet & sour shrimp and shortrib & filet mignon skewers. This is only one or a few Chinese restaurants that calculates the sales tax based on pre-tax amount, plus only asks for a 12% services fee, commonly known as tips. The Chinese restaurant is also very clean, but most people do not know it because it is located on the third floor within the Hilton Hotel, San Gabriel.

Food: decent - it's not quite Chinese, definitely fusion of sorts. The scallops were good, as was the garlic eggplant. The salted egg pumpkin was interesting, a wierd combination of flavors that I would not order again. Really good happy hour with cheap beer and a good selection of eats Service: good, the servers were attentive. They also turned down the AC when we asked since it was so cold. Ambiance : very nice space, pretty huge. They also had a patio which hadn't been cleaned yet even though it was already June in LA. Overall, I wouldn't visit again as the food wasn't unique enough to worth a return visit and doesn't satisfy my craving for Chinese food.

High end Chinese food in San Gabriel Valley! Pretty hip place. The Eggplant and Braised Pork is the best!

Came here for lunch. It's more of a drinking, nightlife spot. They inky serve skewers at night. The highlights were the specialty eggplant and the specialty beef dish.
