How to Plan a Trip to Paris on a Budget, According to a Local

"A Montmartre restaurant offering a notable weekday prix‑fixe lunch (around €29) that delivers refined, seasonally driven cuisine at a much more accessible price point than a dinner service." - Lane Nieset Lane Nieset Lane Nieset is a travel writer from Miami who has lived in France for the past decade. The Best Restaurants In Montmartre - Paris - The Infatuation

"A formule is usually the best way to sample a chef’s creations on the cheap, but at this fine dining restaurant halfway up the picturesque butte Montmartre, the lunch menu is the star. Not that the dzudzed up à la carte options aren’t stunners. Frankly, given the real estate, the lobster doesn’t need to be this succulent, nor does the creamy corn pudding so good we’d lick the bowl. But that dish costs €37, and for just €29, you get a no-choice, three-course comfort food dream of a meal. Fork tender pork comes with green beans so redolent with meat juices no one’s parents are going to be telling them to finish their veggies. And a seasonal plum tart dessert has all the technicity of a Parisian pâtisserie with the nostalgia you’d feel if your grandma was Alsatian." - emily monaco

"In 1765, Mathurin Roze de Chantoiseau opened the first modern restaurant (individual tables and dishes to choose from on a menu) in the Louvre area. In homage to him, brothers Nicolas and Julien Durand work in tandem to create lovely modern cuisine, which is also inspired by the French classics and occasionally makes use of noble products, as in the delicious puff pastry pigeon pie." - Michelin Inspector

I was delightfully surprised to find myself surrounded by French speakers tonight at dinner. Not a single (obvious) tourist in sight! We had a delicious meal though they ran out of John Dory which was a bummer for my pescatarian partner. But we managed an excellent meal with multiple starters.

It was my family’s first time in Europe, and we saw Chantoiseau in the Michelin Guide list of recommended restaurants in Paris, so we were looking forward to it a lot. We made a reservation a few days before (would definitely recommend this as their tables were all full!) Our server was very attentive, the ambiance was just right for more of a fine dining vibe, and the food was very near perfect. That being said, there could have been some improvements. The flavor on the octopus leg and loin of farm pork were great, but we think the octopus could have been more tender, and the skin on the pork more brittle and easier to slice into. We loved the freshly shelled crab and roasted pigeon though :) All in all, it was still a great experience. Kudos and thank you to everyone involved

We had the black pudding fried wantons, the game bird terrine, the roast pigeon and the yellowtail with artichokes. They were all delicious but the pigeon was truly outstanding.

We had a fantastic dining experience here! From starters to dessert, every dish was delicious and beautifully presented — truly satisfying. The service was excellent: welcoming, attentive, and thoughtful. We walked in without a reservation and were lucky to get a table. As the evening got chilly, the staff kindly offered us a spot inside once one became available. A perfect blend of great food and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended!

This was our favorite meal in Paris. We stopped by for lunch and both got their lunch special. The spring roll was such a welcome surprise take on a salad! The steak was cooked to perfection. I will recommend this place to everyone I know who visits Paris!

An absolute delight. Welcoming hosts, gorgeous food and great wine list. Patient with my poor French, and the perfect vibe for new and exciting French cuisine. We loved it and hope to visit again when in Paris.

Chanced upon this unpretentious gem while exploring Rue Lepic. A charming waitress, well-chosen wine list, bit of Fleetwood Mac on the stereo, and my favorite dish: a beautifully-composed fresh crab salad—done with minced carrots, dill, pomegranate, and a thin slice of guanciale. The rest of the meal—gamebird terrine, pigeon, and Saint Jacques in buerre blanc—exquisitely executed.

Really great food. Exceptional culinary skills, texture, and flavours. Don’t think… just go. Zero regrets!
