Chao Ting delivers a comforting bowl of Pao Fan with a clean, well-balanced broth that feels light yet flavourful. The rice texture is well done — soft without turning mushy — and the fried fish, sliced fish and prawns were fresh and generously portioned. The barley drink was a refreshing complement, especially in the warm courtyard setting. Service is efficient despite the crowd, though seating can feel a little tight during peak hours. Overall, a solid and reliable spot for pao fan, done with consistency and restraint — satisfying without being overly heavy.

King Grouper’s fish soup has always been my go-to, but Chao Ting offers a completely different twist. I ordered dual fish. Their rich, thick broth carries a delightful shrimp aroma, while crispy rice is added just before serving—so every bite has a satisfying crunch that softens in the soup. Pair it with their golden, crunchy fried fish skin, and you’ve got a match made in comfort-food heaven. An absolute must-try! Outdoor table, no aircon.

I had the pleasure of trying the fish soup at Chao Ting Teochew Pao Fan, and it was nothing short of spectacular! From the first sip, I was captivated by the delicate yet robust flavors of the broth. The service was excellent, with staff who were friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed for a fantastic meal. Chao Ting has truly mastered the art of Teochew cuisine, and their fish soup is a must-try for anyone who appreciates a well-crafted dish. I can't wait to return for another bowl! We had the Premium Seafood, Fresh Prawn, and Duo Fish ‘Pao Fan’, complemented by the addition of savoury fried egg floss. The soup is rich but not overpowering and there’s a pleasant natural sweetness. It’s a perfect comforting food for me especially in this rainy weather! To elevate the experience, I’ve added a side dish with crispy elements - Fried Fish Skin! The perfect add on for a satisfying crunch to balance the tender rice and flavorful broth.

For the overall experience, The harmony of flavors is incredible. The fragrance is intoxicating! You can smell the depth of flavor from across the table. The fish is perfectly crispy and adds such wonderful texture to the dish.This is exactly how pao fan should taste - authentic and heartwarming.

their soup was good but their slice fish wasn’t the marinated smooth type. the fried fish had a slide “ammonia-like” taste inside. didn’t finish the fried fish as it was weird.

Service a bit slow as only one person was cooking. The soup broth was tasty, fish slices were fresh but personally disliked the fried fish as the batter tasted a bit bitter to me. Still the preferred pao fan in the vicinity though relatively more pricey!

Long queue at lunch time. Ordered via app for pick up. Takeaway packaging v solid - everything was packed separately so it does not get soggy. Fish was very fresh and firm to bite. Soup is flavourful and not overly salty. Yummy. For the price, there were 4 or 5 slices of fish only. Other than that, nice pao fan.
