The 2022 Eater LA Summer Bucket List | Eater LA

"I view Chao Wei Ju as a strong consolation for the beloved Pho Nguyen Hoang: their signature beef noodle soup is seriously slurpable with a light yet punchy broth, slippery rice noodles, and two kinds of tripe; I recommend sampling the house-made condiment counter, and not missing the Chaozhou rice cakes (doughy fried bits with scrambled eggs) and the meaty shacha-sauce pork ribs." - Eater Staff

The Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week | Eater LA

"A San Gabriel spot serving a chiu‑chow‑style beef noodle soup that defies the generic “beef noodle” label: the lighter‑looking broth packs serious flavor and the bowl is loaded with rice noodles, two kinds of tripe, and tender meaty cuts, with an on‑site condiment counter offering housemade sauces that let diners customize each bite." - Eater Staff

🥇I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant. It's an authentic Chaoshan hotpot, with a delicious clear broth that has excellent flavor. The meat quality is fresh and tasty, and the prices are reasonable. The rice noodles have a perfect chewy texture, and the portion size is just right. The tea is exceptionally good. 💡 The chopsticks are a bit too thin and short, making it somewhat uncomfortable to pick up food. The dipping sauce can become too rich if you eat too much of it, and it's quite sweet - best paired with vinegar and chili sauce.

Have lunch here a group of friends here for the first time. I guess the atmosphere and the service is ok as expected at simple noodle house. Nothing exceptional of course. Food is ok, I had the house special 4 items noodles. Large bowl, hard to finish. Overall, it feels like everyone is in a rush, the place is loud like a market, waiters will rush you for sure. But again, this is expected. Nothing much to add, if you want a hot bowl of Chinese noodle, chiu chow style and you're in a hurry, then this is it. Reasonable price and lots of food! Parking is very tight so you might have to park on the street.

Authentic Chaoshan flavor! This is my second visit — last time I had hotpot, and this time I tried their signature clear beef noodle soup. The presentation is clean and refreshing, the broth is rich and flavorful, and everything tastes amazing. They also serve complimentary tea in individual mini teapots, a unique touch of Chaoshan kungfu tea culture. Very enjoyable!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ MY FAVORITE SPOT for Chaoshan style beef soup in LA! Literally everything I’ve tried here is so good 😭 We keep coming back! 🍲 Combo A (Beef Hotpot) Our go-to choice! Savory, flavorful soup that’s exceptionally comforting, especially on a cold chilly day. Add Kway Teow (Rice Noodles) for the ultimate satisfaction! (Soak it in and take it out quickly, don’t leave it boiling for too long) 🍢 Pan Fried Taro Cakes Crispy and savory on the outside, chewy and sweet (and hot!) on the inside. I love this appetizer (deliciousness loaded with carbs lol)!! 🍢 Special Chaozhou Platters is a solid choice as well! More variety to try out. 🍖 Shacha Sauce Beef Ribs Sauce-flavored and delicious, satisfying choice for the carnivore cravings. Note the potion is big- it comes with 2 ribs. Just writing this makes me want to go back… 🥺 Please give this place a try and you won’t regret it!

We wanted something hot today so we decided to eat here again. As we sat down, we asked for an iced water. And until we finished ordering, went to get our sauces, served the boiling pot, the ice water was still not here, so we have to asked again. And they gave us milk custard when they brought us plates. We didn’t order so we asked was this a new item they offer here. The server said in a very impatient and rude way“totally up to you” and we got even more confused. So we asked whether this is free, and she said of course not. Then she found out she served the wrong table. She didn’t say sorry and just took the milk custard from us. We ordered the combo A and the beef cube fried rice. The fresh cut wagyu beef had no marbling at all and we can’t even differentiate it from the fresh cut beef. They were both very tough and hard to chew. The only good meat they have here would be the beef shank. The beef fried rice was a disaster too. No beef in it at all and it had no taste so we have to asked them to recook it with salt. Later, we asked for a new bowl to mix our Kway Teow, and the server asked why we don’t use the dirty small bowl we have. Like excuse me? You asked customer to use dirty bowl when customer asked for a new one? And crazy thing was when we asked to pay, the server said “you don’t want the rice right”, when we left almost the entire thing uneaten. The owner should retrain all his/her employees with good attitude and common sense. Would not recommend to anyone.

Very nice beef noodle, meat is good, portion is big, and the soup is very clear and flavorful. Parking lot is small, and can be hard to find parking spot during busy hours. The small teapot is very cute.

The service was terrible. The staff started clearing our table and asking for payment before we even finished our meal, making us feel rushed and disrespected. Prioritizing table turnover over customer experience was rude. The owner should focus on training staff on proper service standards, especially regarding customer courtesy
