"General Tso’s cauliflower, boudin fritters, and steak of the day with mushroom bordelaise sauce—the menu is full of surprises at Chapman’s Eat Market. But one thing is certain: It’s going to be a good meal. Their dishes might have some ingredients you don’t see often at other Columbus restaurants, but the top-tier sourcing and clever combinations should reassure any picky eaters or apprehensive out-of-towners. The space used to be the original Max & Erma’s (a one-time Applebee’s competitor), and now it matches the zany food with rose pinks, sage greens, and loud wallpaper with white birds. You’ll probably need a reservation, but you can always try snagging a spot at the bar next to the porcelain arm." - Erin Edwards

We had an incredible dining experience at Chapman’s! Ordered the General Tso’s Cauliflower, Grilled Scallops, Beef Fat Fries, and the Cornish Hen which were all incredible. Drink menu was unique and inventive. Will definitely be back!

Google
Extremely unique menu - all perfectly curated and flavorful. Love. Love. Love. The sour cream and onion infused vodka cocktail was one of the coolest I’ve ever tried. Risky, but truly enjoyable. Ally was such a sweet server who made our experience extra pleasant and cozy! She made sure we felt educated on our selections and the cocktail/wine list too. Intimate seating, yet big city feels. Will definitely return.

Came here for my birthday dinner, and ended up being very glad chose it for the occasion. The atmosphere is easily one of the best in Columbus, the food was unique and delicious, and our server, Sean, was kind and gave great recommendations. Also, the maple custard dessert was one of the best I have ever had!

Ambiance: Very comfortable and cute. Service: Stephanie was friendly and attentive. Food: • Cauliflower – The sauce was very good—tangy and sweet. The peanuts could be chopped smaller. 5/5 • Fries – 5/5 • Flounder – The fish was tender and flavorful. However, the sauce was too salty and heavy, with no component in the dish to balance its richness. 3/5 June 3rd visit: Visited Chapman’s again as a friend wanted to try the place. Got the cod this time and it was still underwhelming. The flavor combination doesn’t seem to complement the fish very well

An amazing experience. The food is wonderful, fun, creative, and so flavorful. So many exciting and unique dishes. The drinks were also unique and so yummy. I can't say enough about how fantastic it was

Visiting Chapman’s is always a treat. It’s got an eclectic vibe while maintaining stellar service. The food is without question amazing. If you can’t make it for dinner, check them out for happy hour!

Google
Holy Moly! It really tracks how popular this restaurant is, because it was an outstanding experience. Stunning interior, superior vibes, and incredible cocktails. Gonna have to grant Chapman’s my “Best Old Fashioned in Columbus” trophy. I’ve been holding onto that one for a while! The waitress brought out several little surprises like the tiramisu and cucumber starter. Insane. Will return.

From the moment you enter Chapman’s in German Village, you are surrounded by charming decor and a quaint ambience. We sat in the Green Room, and Scout took great care of us. We tried several cocktails and mocktails. Favorites were the Pink Yoshi (as a mocktail), and the one with pretzel-infused scotch, forget the name. So unique and well balanced. The food — opted for the 2 staples for starters. General Tso Cauliflower and the Beef Fat fries with chappie sauce. We progressed to the Ricotta Gnocchi and the Miso roasted Flounder which stole the show. To finish, we had the maple budino and the sticky apple cake. To say we were satisfied would be an understatement. Well done BJ and staff!!!!! Thank you!

Yelp
Great experience! I went to Chapman's on a Sunday with a friend. The place is cozy and has limited seating. Be sure to make a reservation. Is the building the old, original Max & Erma's? Looks like it from the outside. The hostess was friendly and immediately took us to our table. Our server was fantastic! She knew everything about the menu offerings. I was impressed how she took the time to explain some of her favorites and was helpful in answering my questions. We started with the Beef Fat Fries. Get these! Back in the day, McDonald's used to cook their fries in beef tallow. These fries have a great crisp to them and are salty, which I like. For my entree I had the Miso Roasted Flounder. The fillets were flaky and moist, filling, with a nice soy/teriyaki glaze. The celeriac puree, brown butter kale, pumpkin seeds really set this dish off. If I were at home, I would have licked the dish clean. It's that good. I finished with the Sticky Apple Toffee Cake. I could have that for dessert every day. Yum! It has a little bit of salt dusted on top to compliment the sweetness. The ambience and decor of this old house with its library just added to my 100% recommendation.

Yelp
Looking for a nice restaurant for date night? Or just want to wind down after long day of work? Chapman's Eat Market need to be on your list. Their main dining room have different sections and each of them have unique theme. But they are share a common theme that I love, the comfy with a touch of vintage vibe. They have a great variety of menu item, that showcase comfort food around the world. Of course, with a twist with their interpretation. My favorite would be the Guided by Mushroom "Dino Nuggies" and the Mochi Cake Sundae. Reservation for the main dining room are highly recommended and Bar and Patio seating are first come first serve.

Yelp
The ambiance here was so cute! This place has a really cool quirky vibe inside with colorful wallpaper and pretty light fixtures. If you come on the weekend it's a good idea to put in a reservation ahead of time if you want a table, we didn't have one so we were seated at the bar which was still nice but the chairs were a bit wobbly and it was a bit chilly. We ordered the steak tartare hand rolls and the khao soi. I personally enjoyed the hand rolls as this was a good proportion (could make around 6-7 hand rolls and an interesting take on tartare) however I wish the steak had more of an umami flavoring to it as it started to taste like hamburger which made it difficult to get through at the end. The Khao Soi was extremely abysmal. It was rated very highly which is extremely unusual as not only was it very overpriced (40 dollars for a proportion that really only fed one person) the noodles seemed to be no different from Instant noodles, and the broth was extremely salty without a deep curry/coconut flavor that the dish is known for. I would manage expectations when going here as it is not very good Asian inspired food.

Yelp
We have only eaten here once (my birthday a couple years ago) but we talk about going back all the time! We decided to pop in last night for a cocktail before our dinner reservations (elsewhere) and sat at the bar and got an old fashion that was absolutely delicious. Not too sweet, not TOO strong and to make it even better they had an ice stamp of their logo for a little flare! We almost ordered the general tso cauliflower (still regretting not getting it) we got it the first time we went and my mouth still waters thinking about it. This place is great for date night, drinks and an app or a special dinner!!

Danielle H.

Yelp
Always happy when we go to Chapman's! The staff makes you feel like you are an old friend who's come back to visit. They are friendly and knowledgeable about all things food and drink! The restaurant is always busy with the cozy feeling of being around family you actually like. If in Columbus...this is a must!

Yelp
Walking into Chapman's East Market with my sisters was like stepping into a culinary parallel universe where every dish is meticulously crafted, every cocktail is an adventure, and your wallet starts sweating just a little bit. The Menu: Chapman's East Market has a menu with fewer options than a coin toss at the start of a football game, but every dish is a touchdown! The food quality? Top-notch. It's like each dish is auditioning for a Michelin star, and honestly, they're all shoo-ins. Appetizers we tried: Al Pastor Pork Belly Bao Chapman's Beef Fat Fries Dinner Items: Khao Soi (Chiang Mai Style) - Pork Shoulder Hyper-Roasted Beet & Chevre - Vegan Miso-Roasted Halibut The Cocktails: Oh, the cocktails! They don't just mix drinks here; they orchestrate symphonies in a glass. Each one is unique, like a snowflake - if snowflakes were delicious and made you slightly tipsy. I had a cocktail with ingredients so exotic I felt like I needed a passport just to drink it. Coordinated colors Dusk til Dawn Dashing Radish The Atmosphere: Here's where things get interesting. We snagged a window seat, thinking it would be serene. Spoiler alert: it was louder than a rock concert. Enjoying your high-quality dining experience feels like eating in an auditorium due to the hard surfaces/echo of the other patrons. The Price: Let's just say Chapman's is not where you go to pinch pennies. It's more of a "this meal better be life-changing" kind of place. And to be fair, it kind of is. Just make sure you bring a credit card with a high limit - or maybe your firstborn as collateral. Would I go back? Absolutely. I just might bring earplugs next time and maybe consider selling a kidney to cover the bill. Cheers to Chapman's - where the food is divine, the drinks are sublime, and the experience is... well, memorable.

Yelp
Is Chapman's worth the hype? . . . 5 STARS: General Tso's Cauliflower $16, this had so much flavor, I was scooping up the remnants to flavor the other dishes. Beef Fat Fries $9, no notes. LIFE CHANGING! Chapman's Mojito- cachaça rum, pisco, mint, shish, lime, soda $13 . . . Worth every penny (no mint leaves in the cocktail but excellent mint flavor). How did they do that? Witchcraft. * Wish I would've ordered- Coordinated Colors- vodka, pimm's, campari, coconut sumac syrup, pineapple, lime $15 So where does Chapman's fall short? Build Your Own Bánh Xèo - $21 (not good) turmeric pancake (small portion), mortadella, lime, herbs, sriracha, hoisin. This just doesn't work. Guided by Mushroom "Dino Nuggies" - $16, I absolutely love mushrooms and this dish was not good. We ordered a mochi cake that was just okay. The ice cream was a stand-out. Luckily, my friend and I had a late lunch, so we were able to save money by not ordering a very expensive entree. (Steak $85, Lamb $48, Fried Chicken $42) Service- The host and the food runner were great! The bartenders were not very friendly at all. Maybe upset that we didn't order more? They charge a 3% Employee Wellness Charge. I would return for fries and cocktails.

Yelp
I loved Chapman's when I first moved here but went through a rough patch with them when they were doing all tasting menus. Last weekend I had a group of 8 friends meet at Chapman's for a birthday celebration and I can officially, confidently say: Chapman's is back to being the best restaurant in Columbus in my book. HOLY SMOKES, did they kill it. We were only supposed to have 6 people and they ended up making 8 work, which was a huge challenge to start with. The food was KILLER. Every single bite exceeded expectations. The service from Steph was perfect. We were really demanding and specific, she handled us like a pro. We always had drinks, we always had everything, and she wore a smile throughout. She even took pictures for us at the end, which has to be incredibly annoying. But she still smiled! We were so so so so happy. Another HUGE shout out to the manager Erin who was overseeing all of this. She was a real trooper and made sure everything worked out. The cauliflower and fries always stop the show but I think the Khoa Soi is my new favorite dish. The interior is looking so so so good. I love you Chapman's! You'll see me again soon! :)

Yelp
We love Chapman's Eat Market. Every visit is pleasant. We've always eaten at the bar and every interaction we've had with the barmen/women and servers has been super friendly. Definitely recommend it.

Dalton D.

Yelp
First time, was a little skeptical at first, worried the limited menu would not agree with my taste, but steak was great!

Mary B.

Yelp
What in the food ingenuity did I just eat? Holy explosion of flavors. First let me start by saying I ate here solely by our good friends making reservations and asking us to join them. After jumping out on faith from their recommendation and of other Yelpers did I end up here. A Friday night nestled in German Village we found Chapman's Eat Market. We got lucky to snag a parking spot right out front. The restaurant gives off a quaint urban vibe. Comfortable and inviting. A little loud if you are trying to have an intimate conversation, especially with a larger group. Our service was impeccable from start to finish. We started with some hand crafted cocktails and a few appetizers for the table, main dishes then some sweets to complete the experience. The menu is small and can be underwhelming unless you see something that strikes your fancy. Trust the culinary delivery of whatever you order and it won't disappoint! Server mentioned farm to table and a focus on local and seasonal items. Come curious and of course hungry. Leave satisfied and intrigued.

Greg M.

Yelp
Great experience. Came in for their brand new 6 course dinner. Tried a bunch of stuff I never would have tried otherwise. Also purchased the suggested drink pairings. The presentation was off the charts and the food was very good, though my Halibut entree was a bit of a let down. Not a lot of flavor, kinda like a Grodon fish stick. But everything else was over the top, including the icecream desert and the hot chocolate chip cookie! As for the ambiance, I thought I was sitting g in a library of the Clue game. Service was very friendly, though they seem intent on keeping you for 2 hours when we could have got this done in 60-90 minutes at most.

Jane G.

Yelp
All I can say about Chapman's is WOW. I have yet to try anything that wasn't incredibly delicious. I had a mushroom pasta and and a dessert that mimicked a lemon meringue pie (with a twist). Chapman's is as beautiful as it's delicious--this place was clearly designed by someone with impeccable taste. The green exterior is somehow both trendy and timeless, and the interior has retro (yet classy) wallpaper that makes diners feel like they've been transported into a different world. The service is top-notch, with servers who are both friendly and knowledgeable, but down-to-earth considering how high-end Chapman's seems to be. They are incredibly accommodating of any and all dietary restrictions as well!

Zach D.

Yelp
My partner and I had a great time at Chapman's. From the get go everything was perfect. I had made a note in my reservation and they followed the note to the T! Tyler was our server and he was so kind and friendly. His suggestions were top notch, I think we ordered everything he recommended and we were not disappointed. The Beef Fat Fries with caviar and crème fresh! Heavenly! Typically we like to take our time and enjoy our dinner, but this time We had a show at the Palace and Tyler made sure we got the check and out of the restaurant right when we needed to.

Hang N.

Yelp
Good food and good vibe. Service is good, everyone is friendly and kind. I came here for my birthday, and order the cauliflower, the lamb and the thai noodles. Cauliflower is too salty for my table, especially when it's an appetizer. I love my lamb and the thai noodles though. Their ice cream is a great way to wrap up the dinner, wish it could be a bit bigger.

Melissa K.

Yelp
We shared and devoured the General Tso's cauliflower and Miso Roasted halibut SOOOO GOOD!!! We sat at the bar and enjoyed Collin's recommendations of the Bee's Knees cocktail and Masa Fresca drink.

Courtney P.

Yelp
I ate at Chapman's tonight with some friends. I love the green room, it is open and so nice to look out onto the streets. We got the famous cauliflower bowl it was small to split with 3 people. We also got the larger entrees - the half chicken and the lobster khaki soi. The entrees were really delicious and had unique flavors! I just think the price point is a bit too expensive for me. The service was superb though.

Claire D.

Yelp
Chapman's is always incredible. Excellent food and service. They have limited seating times meaning that you get a table for 2 hours. Some of my dining partners haven't loved this but I think 2 hours is plenty of time to enjoy the experience. Must haves: 1. Get the general tso's cauliflower appetizer. It's a little spicy but crunchy and soft too. 2. Get an order of the fries with ranch dipping sauce! 3. Chicken & shrimp Khao Soi as a main- super flavorful and especially great on a cold night 4. Definitely get dessert, all options are amazing but the ice cream trio never fails.

Sally L.

Yelp
The service and food were good. We got the General Tso's cauliflower and smashed cucumbers for appetizer. The cauliflower was delicious would recommend getting that. The sauce and everything were right. We ordered the duck and gnocchi and the kola lamb rack with fries. The gnocchi was soft and the duck have a good smoky flavor. I like the fried sweet potatoes on the top of the duck. They gave a lot of fries with the lamb rack. I think that dish was ok. For the dessert, we got the ice cream trio. I really like the khao soi sherbet. It have a strong coconut flavor that I really like. If you like their ice cream you can buy a pint to go for $10. The restaurant is beautiful inside. The restaurant is not a big restaurant so make sure to make a reservation. I took a star off because we tried to call the restaurant couple times about our reservation. Nobody pick the phone up even though we called during their opening hours

Saphace A.

Yelp
My boss raves about this restaurant and one of my friends had been before and told me we should check it out. Their menu changes , so she hadn't seen some of the stuff on the new menu. You have to make a reservation weeks in advance. They're pretty busy and open late, but walk-ins are only at the bar. We had a reservation for 8pm on a Tuesday. When I walked in, most tables were filled. No issue though. We got seated right away. They didn't rush us either. And the place slowly emptied out towards the end of the night. The staff is personable. Really nice, smiley people. This isn't really a fancy restaurant even though it gives off that vibe. You can definitely come in here with casual clothes. For the appetizer, we shared the general tso's cauliflower. Very good! They give you a substantial amount. For drinks, I got 1848. It's bourbon mixed with other stuff. Not super strong. My friend got You wanna Pisco me. Refreshing and fruity! For our meals, I got khao soi while my friend got the summer pork sausage pasta. Her meal looked much smaller than mine. But we both couldn't finish. I've had Khao soi before from a Thai restaurant in Long Beach and loved it. Their version tasted spot on with the coconut and curry flavors! For dessert, we shared the maple hazelnut budino. It's not super rich or Puckery sweet which was good. It's a bit pricey, but the food is well made and the chef is really talented. I can't come back often due to the price but I'm definitely excited to return sometime in the near future! Parking around here is parallel. I parked a block or two away in one of the side streets.

Lynn S.

Yelp
We stopped by tonight at 5:00 to get the burger. Well they no longer serve it in the bar. We stood outside for 10 minutes until exactly 5;00 in freezing weather. Of course they didn't consider letting us in a few minutes early. The hostess was rude and could care less that we left. Off to South Village Grill for a GREAT meal. As a neighbor I will never go back to Chapman's. Same menu over and over and rudeness.

Julia G.

Yelp
Chapman's has got to be one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus. The menu is always so interesting, and everything is always a knockout! Fettuccine and eggs and eggs was super rich but absolutely delicious if you love roe, it's super interesting in the creamy sauce. Duck Gnocchi was delicious, absolutely perfectly cooked. Best fries on the planet- I can't come here without ordering the fries and neither should you!

Shawnie K.

Yelp
We had a fabulous dinner at Chapman's Eat Market tonight. The standouts were the Miso Tomato Gazpacho and Chiang Mai Style Chicken & Shrimp Khao Soi. The General Tso Cauliflower and Patatas Bravas were tasty too! The stand-out starter! Miso Tomato Gazpacho - farm tomatoes, carrots, peppers, fennel, saffron. The Chicken & Shrimp Khao Soi - Chiang Mai Style (yellow curry, fava leaves, herbs, banana, chiles, peanuts, fresh and crispy noodles) was something special. General Tso's Cauliflower - peanuts, sesame seeds and serrano chiles. Patatas Bravas - flank steak, smoked tomatoes, garlic aioli and queso fresco And then, dessert. We came home with a pint of the strawberry ice cream.

Anton K.

Yelp
The New York Times rated Chapmans in the top 50 best restaurants in the country. It is only one of six restaurants selected in the Midwest. They offer a pre-fixe menu with seasonal changes. Seasonal globally inspired comfort food highlight their offerings. It is one of the hardest tables to acquire so reservations are highly suggested. The reservation list starts at the beginning of the month. While in Columbus, Ohio, a friend and colleague made reservations for a Friday dinner. This restaurant is located in the quaint German Village. The interior is cozy with a bar area, bookshelves and mood lighting. I am going to sum up the entire food experience as memorable, delicious and satisfying. Each course was exceptional. We began with the Focaccia bread with salted butter and truffle followed by clam soffrito with white wine and parsley. My main entre was the wagyu, pate a choux with pickled peppers. We finished with Yuzu Key Lime Pie. As stated before, it was a memorable meal.

Sara I.

Yelp
Great experience! Very homey yet eclectic. For cocktails we ordered the Chapmanhatten and Pisco. I always take advantage of any pisco style drink when I can! For starters we had the general Taos cauliflower and fries. The general Taos cauliflower was the best thing we had there! You have to try them! The Patatas Bravas was a small portion of meat with a bbq style base which surprised me. Hopefully you like bbq. The Khao soi was a yellow curry Thai dish with crunchy noodles and a ramen style noodle. I wish it was served the a side of white rice. It was very tasty. We tried their strawberry shortcake ice cream, homemade and delicious. Our server Tyler was wonderful and attentive. I can see why this is so popular!

Kristen B.

Yelp
Excellent! Highly recommend this adorable restaurant in German Village. I would like to take all the wallpaper home with me. Excellent service and great atmosphere. Food was fantastic. The cauliflower and fries to start were perfection and we both got the khao soi, delicious. (As yummy as the first time I had it in Chiang Mai) good wine selection and looking forward to returning soon.

Collier S.

Yelp
Luckily was able to walk in around 5:30 on a Saturday and get a spot on the patio! This will have been my third and favorite time. Our server Kat was amazing and helped us course out our food. Obviously had to start with the cauliflower, no explanation needed. Then tried the Bao buns which were so so excellent and a great fusion of cuisine. Again, great service touch of wet napkins after this course since it was a messy eat. Then ended with the lamb shank which was superb. The crisped bit of meat on top with the minty raita and pickled onions??? It's rare to have a meal that's starts excellent and only gets better, looking forward to visit #4.

Justin H.

Yelp
Figuratively brushing the dust off yelp to say how wonderful this place is. Atmosphere is so cute and chill and inviting. Food is literally always incredible and exciting and unique. The service makes you feel extremely cared for. I've only been a few times and it's always amazing. Yesterday, I went with someone that has a food allergy that prevents her from eating mammal protein (chicken and fish are ok!). They looked up the allergy and when we were there the server and chefs literally took a pen to paper and edited a personal menu for my date and offered their recommended subs on everything that they could (which was a lot!). Most places just leave her hanging as we sit there playing menu-chess on what may or may not have secret bits of bacon and whatnot, but they really took the time to care. After dealing with this disease for so long, she was almost in tears at how considerate they were. This isn't just good food. It's an entire package of warmth, and taste, and care and when you leave you'll carry a special satisfied glow of content. I love these folks.

Chelsea G.

Yelp
Some of the most beautiful food, atmosphere, and service I have had in a long time. The vegan and gluten free options make this place incredibly inclusive for everyone in your group. I will be back to this place every time I visit Columbus. Compliments to the Chef

Eric M.

Yelp
Alright so after the 4th visit to Chapman's I'm finally ready to write a review. Let's start with what Chapman's is and then go from there. What is Chapman's? Damn good food. What is Chapman's not? "Fine dining" like Lindey's or Veritas or Agni or Refectory. Why is this distinction important? Well in order to appreciate just how good the food is you have to appreciate the venue. Chapman's is located at the original Max & Erma's restaurant on 3rd in German Village (fun fact they kept the bar!). Max & Erma's, if you hadn't heard of it, was pretty much a casual chicken finger, fries, milkshake, and burger kind of place. For someone like me growing up it was a "nice" night out with the family and I have a lot of old memories and nostalgia from visiting the old Max & Erma's chains throughout Columbus. For me Chapman's captures the spirit of the old Max & Erma's, but takes the food to the stratosphere. It's not trying to be Max & Erma's by any means, and I'm probably doing the restaurant a disservice by linking the too, but reviews are personal! Ok so let's get down to the food. First, cocktails are great. Wine is good. Beers are fine (though I really think restaurant people just do not get beer at all). No happy hour specials. Of course. Appetizers - gumbo shrimp. Phenomenal. Salivating just thinking about it. But the fries. O.M.G. And twice on Tuesday. Cooked in beef tallow as the ancients did it (I bet Max & Erma's did it this way too) with accompanying ranch sauce these are the best damn fries anywhere in America. No joke. I could write the entire review on just the fries. Entrees. Delicious. Perfect portion sizes. We grabbed the mushroom ravioli this time but have had the patatas bravas and also the catfish. Yum. I will say I'm looking forward to changing it up. Though to be fair I've been 4 times. Wait. I forgot. The khao soi noodles. Ugh that coconut curry sauce is to die for. Make sure to take it home. Deserts are great too. The almond budino just fantastic and I think by far the best on the menu. Some interesting ice cream flavors and I think you can get a bite to go. Alright are you still with me? If so here's why it was good that you stayed. Arguably the best burger I've ever had is made in-house at Chapman's. They make every single bit, including the bun, from scratch. But... they only serve it once in awhile and if you sign up for their email list you'll be the first to know about burger night at the bar. $20 burger and fries. Best $20 you can spend on food anywhere in the world. No joke. Alright this was a lengthy review. The weather is nice today and I'm still licking my lips after yet another tasty meal. I hope you get a chance to try out Chapman's if you haven't already. It's one of my favorites in the village!

Rachel N.

Yelp
Great option for a date night. Not too loud or dark. Food was very good and was served relatively quickly. We asked for a mocktail menu, but the way they do it is they ask you what kind of mocktail you would want / the vibe you're going for and create one for you. Ours request was ginger beer forward and it came out very well. We made our reservation about 2 weeks ahead of time and was able to get a weekend spot. Parking is paid street parking but I think they have a valet option too.

Alaina R.

Yelp
11/10 experience here! This is the perfect spot for a date night or dinner with friends. It is has an elevated cozy vibe to it. We started off with the French fries and the general tso's cauliflower and both were out of this world delicious. I got the duck & gnocchi entree and loved it. The duck I has a smoky flavor to it that elevated the entire dish. Others at my table got the porkstrami, khao soi and the fish dish and everyone was extremely happy with what they got. We ended dinner with the bundino dessert and it was a HIT. Our waitress was amazing. She described the menu/cocktails in so much detail and was very helpful in deciding what to order. If this place is on your list to try, make a reservation! And if it wasn't on your list, add it immediately and still make a reservation! I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
We got SO lucky with this place. Usually, you'd need a reservation but my friend and I walked in, asked if there was any spot and they had an open spot on the patio! Seriously, what are the odds. The patio is so nice on a beautiful day. Our server was extremely friendly. She even had the chef make me a personalized "allergy" menu marking all the foods that had tree nuts in it! We got some delicious cocktails that were so refreshing and tasty. To start, we got the cauliflower which was really good. A nice balance of crispy and flavorful. Then, we got the fried catfish, which was probably my favorite thing we ordered. The papaya salad on top was incredible! The chicken wings were also delicious and crispy. For dessert, we got some of the homemade ice cream which was a perfect end to an amazing meal. Love this place!

Yelp
Tyler was an incredible server, friendly & knowledgeable without being over the top. Everything was impeccable, delicious and almost too pretty to eat. They donate proceeds of one of their cocktails each month to a group. My drink supported Kaleidoscope. We sat outside and the weather was perfect.

Yelp
Very nice ambience and service. I went with girlfriends to try their 6 courses tasting menu. Unfortunately the food did not live up the hype. All four of us agreed that they are good, but not worth the hassle for securing a reservation weeks in advance. None were memorable other than the cocktails. I was also not crazy about using small/dessert plate for the entree. Maybe I would come back to try their regular menu when they improve the reservation system.

Yelp
Chapman's Eat Market is located in German Village. Unfortunately, I'll have to take off some points despite the amazing service and good food. I tried calling twice to see if I could move up my reservation but no answer. It just kept ringing and this was after it opened. I sent them a message on IG. No reply, they just read it. That's a full point off. The restaurant itself is beautiful, there's a secret room just for special occasions/tastings. Seating is limited since it's not a huge restaurant. Please make a reservation. I'll rate the food. Overall a 3.5. Honestly, if they would have answered the phone or message then this would have been a 4.5/5. -General Tso's cauliflower 5/5 - favorite dish of the night. You wouldn't even know you're eating cauliflower because it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. -Smashed cucumbers - it was tasty but nothing memorable. -Duck and gnocchi 5/5 - gnocchi was soft and not too chewy. Duck was tender and cooked to perfection. -Kola lamb rack - it was good but the smokey taste was a bit strong. I think it could have tasted better if there was a little less of the smoked ground cherry salsa. Also, I wished there were less fries. It makes sense that there are a lot of fries since half rack is not a lot. -Tasting of ice cream Flowers and cheese - least amount I liked. Goat cheese ice cream was great but I'm not a fan of lavender in my ice cream. Philosophy major 5/5 - favorite. I liked the combination of earl grey ice cream with chocolate ribbons. It wasn't too sweet. Khao soi "sherbet" 5/5 - close second. You have a lot of flavor here. You have coconut, lime leaf, gooseberry, and tamarind. Definitely a treat I wouldn't mind snacking on.

Yelp
The hype is real. This is far and away the best dining experience I have had in Ohio. Now I understand why they are booked up a month in advance. This is the old GV Max and Ermas location and they have transformed it. The atmosphere is cozy, casual, beautiful, romantic. It is also the kind of place where you could dress up or wear jeans, and be comfortable either way. Our server was Stephanie and she was fantastic. The menu is fairly small. They had six entrees and a handful of appetizers to choose from. They do mark the menu for dairy free, gluten free and vegetarian, which is a nice touch. I really enjoyed the dan dan noodles. I will say the dish is extremely spicy so be prepared. Tongue burning and nose running kind of spicy. Salads were fresh and beautiful. Desserts were my favorite part of the meal. Apparently they make all of their ice creams in house, but did not try those. Carrot cake was incredible, with rich goat cheese icing and fresh carrots. Hazelnut budino is in top 3 best desserts I have ever had in a restaurant. Just try it. My only minor caveat - portion sizes are fairly small and you may want to order a few dishes depending on appetite.

Yelp
We've been to Chapman's many times, and I'd say it's usually a 5 star experience but there have also been a few misses over the years. Last night, here was the breakdown: 1. General TSOs cauliflower: amazing as always 5/5 2. Scallop salad -scallop was delicious, good dressing, I thought way too much mint 4/5 3. Fried chicken meal - so delicious! Giant! Order it!! 5/5 4. Halibut - disappointing- portion size was small and the fish itself was either overcooked or maybe just cooked in a way I didn't like. Would not recommend. 3/5 Our server was a delight and the beet cocktail was very interesting- probably one of the most unique cocktails I've had. She also brought us a small free dessert as a surprise after we said we were pretty full but my husband was still eyeing the dessert menu. That was really sweet. Thanks It's an expensive meal - I think more so than even a year ago. If they can make everything as delicious as that chicken, then I'd say it's 100% worth the price. Beautiful space but you are pretty close to other diners.

Yelp
I have been a handful of times and it's been a lovely, enjoyable experience. It's so lovely in there, the servers care about allergies, and the food is tasty. I was here last weekend and was quite surprised by the quality. We ordered meals and then we also ordered fries and cauliflower. Our cauliflower was soaked in sauce, mushy. The fries were overcooked, black in many spots, dry. I only mention this because the two tables next to us also ordered these menu items and they were in phenomenal shape. I'm very surprised the restaurant let our orders come out to the table.

Yelp
Wow. Blown away. Three colleagues and I from out of town wandered by, and were able to get a walk-in table outside. We wanted inside because of how charming (and cool) it was, but we were grateful they could accommodate us nonetheless. I loved everything: service (Jennifer was delightful), decor (the bathroom on the right!) and food (prettiest salad I ever did see!) I loved my steak and bratas too, and the tri colored sorbet for dessert was perfect (as was my colleague's budino) I also want to note how rigorous Jennifer was with my severe food allergies: she took them very seriously and I'm always grateful when I don't have to feel embarrassed about them. Should I travel to Columbus again, I will secure a reservation for certain. Thanks for a lovely evening, Chapman's. Cheers from San Francisco.

Yelp
Love visiting Chapmans whenever we can get in! It's such a popular spot in German village that you are best off by booking a reservation 1 month ahead of the day you want to visit. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, every item is awesome and so are the drinks!

Yelp
First visit to Chapman's... sat outside on the most perfect evening. Our server Andrew was awesome! Very knowledgeable and took time to explain the menu and provide background and details of the dishes. Food was outstanding, we shared entrees and had more than enough food! Only complaint in the end was the "employee wellness fee of $4+ on the total bill. Assuming this is an effort to pay their staff a good wage, which is great, but don't love the virtue signaling and would prefer they operate like a normal restaurant and include the cost of labor into their menu cost, which are not cheap to begin with. I love that they pay their people well, but I don't need you to broadcast it... a bit tacky

Yelp
This restaurant is very popular. We booked weeks in advance to get a reservation for four on the Monday following Thanksgiving. The ambience is nice, but not ostentatious. Let me start with the service -- it was exceptional. For example, my wife doesn't like raw onions and she came back with a menu marking out all the items that had raw onions in them and then with appropriate reminders on dishes where they could be held out. For appetizers we shared their wings (Dry wing duo) and Kimchi pancake. The wings were nice and crispy with a red pepper and green pepper crust. Not spicy but flavorful -- I personally liked the green ones more -- they had a bit more of a tangy flavor. The kimchi pancakes were pretty good considering this is not an authentic Korean restaurant and the dip was excellent. For dinner we shared three dishes. The khoa soi, which was delicious -- my favorite dish of the evening and came with a lovely curry. The com tam was my least favorite among the three, although the rice underneath was perfectly cooked. The Farrokh tabouleh was pretty good as well. Nice bold flavors. Everything was fresh and delicious, although nothing really stood out. I would give 4 stars for the food and 5 stars for the service. A definite return visit!

Yelp
Columbus food sometimes feels so drab & uninspired. Yes, there are a few gems in this city and Chapman's Eat Market is certainly one of those places! I've been following Chapman's Eat Market since their opening. I have been to Rose's Luxury in D.C., my second Michelin starred place, and been literally delighted. When I learned that one of the folks opening CEM had been a chef at Rose's the first year the Michelin Guide was in D.C. (and Rose's was starred) I knew I had to go. Given that it's tight to make a reservation at Chapman's we'd not had the chance to get in. Well yesterday we were able to arrive at 5 and snag a bar seat. I am SO glad we chanced it! Started with the heirloom tomatoes over baba ghanoush & the seared scallops with corn. They were a perfect entry way into our meal! An ode to summer as only a few more days remained before the equinox. From there I went with the patatas bravas; nicely plated and delicious. My wife went with the cơm tấm. You know what happened when I tasted the cơm tấm?! I legit started tearing up. It was beautifully flavored and balanced. I'm glad that it's one of the few dishes that have a permanent place on the Chapman's Eat Market menu! For desert I picked the chocolate orange tart. Perfect texture and dark chocolate flavor. The orange was not overpowering and complemented the dark chocolate ever so nicely. When our bartender over heard that it was my birthday when they brought out our desert they also brought out a scoop of the ambrosia ice cream. As a transplant from the south, N. Carolina to be exact, it hit all the flavor notes that you'd expect from a dish your southern grandma or mom would make, ambrosia salad. Topped with bits of chopped celery for a crunch & a couple mini marshmallows that made the ice cream version of ambrosia salad complete. Is this place pricy? Sure. Do I feel that the price corresponds to the care and ingredients that went into the dishes? Heck yeah I do. Am I ready to get back here as soon as my wallet is read or my wife says 'we can spend whatever on dinner tonight'? Darn right I am! My only real complaint is the height of the barstools from the footrest, at 5'9 they were too tall for me to comfortably rest. Those of lower statue may find the bar seating uncomfortable. Another point to note is that the bathrooms are located down stairs.

Yelp
What a delight! The space, the hospitality, and the food--all amazing and spot on. We started off with craft made cocktails and we were alerted that the bartender was award-winning in the local community for her beverages. Delicious! And with our cocktails we dined on the General Tso's cauliflower. Best fried cauli I've ever had. For the main event, I ordered the Com Tam pork dish and it was riddled with all sorts of yummy flavors as I made my way around the bowl. We also tried the beef fat fries which, again, were probably some of the best fries I've had--coupled with their herby ranch that was out of this world! For dessert, since my friend and I were celebrating the closing on my first home, our server comped us a scoop of ice cream. We chose the Thai Iced tea flavor and it was chai magic. Chapman's needs to be on your radar for a special culinary experience if you find yourself in Columbus. Get your reservation when they drop on the first of the month.

Yelp
Saturday Night with my favorite human doing what we love... good food... good humans ... amazing cocktails, you can't go wrong with Chapman's general Tso cauliflower, shrimp larb and beef fried crisps with caviar ... perfection ! Service - impeccable! Ambiance - beautiful! We love a good bar, arrive for the line at 4:45 to get a seat, it's worth it !

Yelp
Chapman's might be Columbus's most coveted table. Reservations for the stylish German village bistro are hard to come by and I was very excited that my fiancé took me here for my birthday. The ambiance is literary and colorful and the seating, both at tables and at the bar, is very comfortable. I began with a Pisco cocktail and it was light and refreshing. We had Chapman's signature appetizer, the General Tso cauliflower. It was delicious, with a flavorful sauce and perfect texture. I tried the Dan Dan noodles which were decently spicy and served with pork, beef and vegetables. A hot and flavorful dish. My fiancé got the patatas bravas - flank steak and potatoes with a Latin sauce - flavorful, smoky and delicious. The beef and potatoes were cooked perfectly. Service was prompt and friendly.

Yelp
My goodness, what a lovely spot. Entering Chapman's, you feel it's honesty, intentionality, and style - markedly in the decor and waitstaff. Mauve and green with vintage-style accents, this interior is unique, fits the neighborhood, and is causally fabulous. The waitstaff are not dressed in black, but rather, are comfortably wearing their street fashion. I was seated along the window in the indoor patio area and experienced prime people and dog watching throughout my meal. Natural lighting in this room was also a delight. The food and drink were wonderful. After my first cocktail I asked about cocktails without ice, which there weren't, but our waiter immediately suggested a Dealer's Choice cocktail made special to pair with my Khao Soi. This drink was *perfect* - I was very, very pleased and charmed. What sets the offerings at Chapman's apart from the horde is their bold flavor choices that sweep across the menu. Herbal, vegetal brightness and complexity and their inclination towards deep smokiness came to the forefront. Their Booster Shot cocktail was quite smoky, but not overpoweringly so. The Patatas Bravas were very smoke forward - a scotch drinker's dream! And even an ice cream in the flight was a smoked strawberry, which was smooth and sweet while also being darkened a bit by smoke. The Khao Soi, and the You Wanna Pico Me cocktail had deep herbal tones, which I crave deep in my brain and stomach. Refreshing, colorful, hard to pin down yet tied to the earth - I will be thinking about the herbal qualities at Chapman's for some time. An all around stellar experience.
