The 16 Best Late-Night Restaurants in Houston

"Open Until: 1am Mon, 2am Tues, 4am Wed-Sun For the nights you can see only in vibes, there’s Chapultepec Lupita, which has been around since the 70s. The pages-long menu features a blend of Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine, which means you can get chapulines as a complement to a supreme burrito doused in cheese and stuffed with sizzling fajita meat. If you’re new to Chapultepec Lupita they’ll tell you to seat yourself, but most regulars barely pause at the entrance and make a b-line to their TOC (Table Of Choice). And everyone here after hours is on a mission to pad their stomachs with as much fajita meat as possible. That’s why we love Chapultepec Lupita— it’s an “if you know you know” Montrose deep-cut that serves the community while other taco places slumber." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

Best Late-Night Restaurant Dining in Houston: Where to Eat After Hours | Eater Houston

"Open past 1 a.m. on most nights, this long-standing Montrose late-night hotspot offers a combination of Tex-Mex and strictly Mexican cuisine. Though fajitas are the star here — with sizzling comals of tender beef accompanied by filling heaps of beans, cheese, and warm, comforting tortillas — diners can also find solace in its crispy beef tacos and tamales." - Brittany Britto Garley

It’s the kind of place you genuinely enjoy dining at, thanks to the delicious food and the relaxing atmosphere. The service is warm and attentive and portions are generous. You're welcomed with chips and salsa as soon as you're seated, which is a great touch. Even though the restaurant is often quiet, depending on the times you go there, the calm vibe makes it a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a good meal.

I came in late night for a quick bite to go. I ordered a veggie BURRITO and this is what they brought out. The food came out in literally 2-3 minutes I should have checked my bag before leaving but I wasn’t expecting this since I ordered a burrito. The tortilla was big enough for a taco I couldn’t even roll it up. There was maybe 3 pieces of tomato I guess they considered that to be pico. The lady that took my order was nice and because I came in late I tipped 50% of my total.

Google
Staff was really friendly and service was quick. The food was great and big portions. Chips and salsa come with the table and the salsa is very spicy. Drinks are good too with lots of options. The restaurant was very empty so the atmosphere was awkward, but still a great place to eat.

I came here ages ago and wasn't aware it was still around! I so happy to see it is. Friendly service, great breakfast and nice atmosphere. Will return.

Great spot to go eat after leaving the bars at 2am. Quick service and the street tacos were bomb and huge portions. Reasonable prices too. Definitely stop here before or after the bars.

Chapultepec Lupita is one the best options in Houston for a late bite they close some days at 4am. during the week, and the food is delicious with good portions

Google
This place was great! Had a comfortable chill vibe. We were looking for somewhere we could eat late night that wouldn't be closing within the hour when we got there. We found it here! The entrance is in the back. When you come in, you seat yourself and there are plenty of areas to choose from. We were greeted immediately and given a menu. The service was nice and quick. Many different food options to select from. The salsa that came while we waited for our meals was delicious and had a spicy kick to it. Keep that in mind if you don't hand spice well. They had a lot of different drinks to try. I didn't get one but will next time. The bathrooms are upstairs and were very clean. I will definitely return. Check them out if you're looking for late night Mexican on the weekends!

Yelp
This was a very good place to hop in after our event. we were a large party, they accommodate for us to sit together. As well as split checks individually without any issue, or any additional (forced) gratuity. Service was pleasant, and polite. Food was hot and very fresh. I had flaunts that was crispy with a nice crunch and filed with white meat chicken. with cheese quesadillas, and beef nachos, which were really great with a touch a cheese and guacamole. It was perfect, nothing with over kill. there were two flaws, I asked for no jalapeños and they were still places on there settling in my sour cream, and not sauce or queso came with the flaunts, which was a bit odd to me. For the mishap she did bring me a side of queso, even after being told no. So it made up for the flaws. Which explains my 5star in full detail. The lady restrooms is located upstairs, which was very clean, and updated. The ladies restroom was WAYYYY better than I expected it to appear to be. The restaurant looks like it was a house that turn into a restaurant. this is a place I'll return to again. Food is very delish, I want to explore there menu, which look very nice.

Yelp
I am disgusted and hurt by the behavior of Raul, the manager of Chapultepec Lupita. For context, I have been going to Chapultepec Lupita since I moved to the area (4+ years) to the point where I come at night and they don't even hand me a menu (I absolutely adore their menudo and got it every chance I could) - I would bring friends and really try to support this local small business. It was my spot for after club food. On the morning of 21 June 2025, I brought a party of 8 people to Chapultepec Lupita. One of my party was wearing something that the manager, Raul, disagreed with. This individual was covered, not at all exposed, and even if they were it doesn't justify his behavior. Raul insisted they put a jacket on to cover themselves. They chose not to, and having brought all of them there, I felt embarrassed that Raul would do such a thing to me (a long time customer) and to a table of new customers. We started to leave, when I began telling Raul and the staff that it was extremely disappointing and inappropriate. He began raising his voice at me, then as our party was walking out of the door of the restaurant, he kicked me in my shin. I was aghast, not knowing how he could do such a thing. I called the police, and Raul lied to them, saying I spit in his face. So not only was my party verbally assaulted, I was physically assaulted, and the manager of this restaurant lied to the police. Here's a tip (since you'll never ever have one of mine again): Be A Man. Liars don't get very far. Cowards that kick someone while they're walking away don't get very far, either. It's not a good look on you, nor your restaurant.

Yelp
My wife allowed me to pick a new spot for our Sunday Mexican breakfast. This place was perfect! The menudo was over the top and didn't disappoint! Chips and salsa were tasty, plus the service was very attentive. Once we sat down, we were greeted with family charm and history of long lasting friendship.

Andrew S.

Yelp
The serving staff were quite hospitable, even if the lackluster food had a tendency to be piled up in a jumble, leading to me having to get the food off the actual item to get to it. The AC in the central room is not steady. However, the big deal with this was that my car was actually broken into in the parking lot right after I left the restaurant.

Yelp
The food was good, I got the taco nachos bowl with beef & all the toppings on top. The service was pretty quick given the large group being served. It's a chill low-key spot that lets you eat in peace. They understand the after-hours fresh grub assignment .

R F.

Yelp
Service was ok as there were not many people in the restaurant. Ambiance was old mom and pops not really decorated just there with some old newspaper clippings on the wall. it was a sketchy area and the 2 young men were horse playing and loud quiet annoying I go to order my food I ordered a frozen margarita and chicken nacho. the waitress did not speak English well she kept asking 6 or 12 and I say I want the nachos. she says yes 6 or 12 I say 6 what she says nachos I just say yes nachos 6 is fine she literally brought me out 6 chips with cheese chicken guacamole and sour cream for $10.99 I will add a pic

Yelp
My friend and I came here for a late dinner. The server took our order we ordered some quesadillas and entree plate. He was nice and polite. After waiting for about 10 minutes, the owner Son rudely told us to move to a different booth but we already settled in and since the restaurant was not busy it shouldn't matter where we sat. The owner son replied "this is my restaurant and you can get out" (yes it escalated that quickly) so we got kicked out because we were sitting in the wrong table at an empty restaurant. I really think that we hurt his ego and he was on a power trip. And soon after the interaction became hostile. To be honest, this place opens late at night for a quick bite, but the food really isn't that good and equivalent to cafeteria food. This is an establishment that I no longer want to support after how they treat paying customers. I will never recommend this place to anyone and instead of go to Ruchis

Mary M.

Yelp
First thing that we noticed was the sewage smell and mold and dust . Our food was really really greasy. The Resturant was pretty empty. Not an experience we will do again.

Yelp
From the moment you walk in the door, the staff is welcoming and friendly. This location has been around for at least 40 years. No renovations, a few painting here and there, but nothing has changed. My favorite on the menu is the Menudo. Menudo is an acquired taste and this restaurant serves it 7 days a week. it's usually a weekend offering at most restaurants. It's always fresh, always clean, no scent and in my personal opinion some of the best in town. Served with limes, chopped onions, cilantro, jalapeños, and your choice of flour or corn tortillas. I could eat it every night. Bravo Chapultepec.

Yelp
Great Mexican restaurant that's been in business forever in the museum district. Loved their salsa - food was delicious and service efficient.

Yelp
I can't believe this place doesn't have many good reviews! This is one of my favorite frequented late night spots in the area, especially for a late night meal. This is perfect for night shift workers, college students, partiers, or just everyday people who don't have the most accomodating schedules. The ambiance can be pretty hit or miss at times. Sometimes it's dead quiet and almost like a liminal space and the walk up to the bathrooms can be scary, but othertimes, when the jukebox is going or the music is on, it's almost too loud to hear. The restaurant is akin to a house or two turned into a restaurant, but I count it as part of the personality and charm. I can't personally discount it for what it is. This is my third or fourth time coming here, and the staff have always been so friendly and helpful towards everyone I come to visit with. They have been tolerant and offer a variety of options to customize your order. As for the food, I am in love with their menudo, and that's what keeps bringing me back! The last waitress I had even commented that I was the only person that clears the plate and picks the bones clean, just like her. I'd one hundred percent recommend towards anyone who's into adventurous foods or also grew up from an ethnic background. I got the menudo, fries, flour tortillas, my friend got the shrimp burrito, and we had the sopapillas for dessert. Like always, we left very happy!

Yelp
I came here with a friend for a Saturday morning brunch. This was my first time here and will be my last. Let me explain... The service was horrible. The restaurant was nearly empty. There were only two other tables when we arrived. Upon them bringing us our food, I asked them for a salsa for my breakfast tacos (not the table salsa, something spicier). We also asked for utensils since they didn't bring any with our food. At least 10 minutes passed and nothing... finally one of the other waitresses comes out to clean a table and after a few minutes we got her attention. Once again we requested silverware and salsa which she did bring, but at this point our food had started to get cold. The eggs in the breakfast tacos tasted off, not sure if it's because cold eggs or they were spoiled. The restaurant itself seemed dirty. The ceiling tiles were moldy and looked like they were retaining water. Although the food is extremely cheap, it's definitely not worth the quality of food and the service. I would not recommend this place.

Yelp
Ahh so many great memories at Chapultepec. Absolutely love this place (and have for many years), and glad it is still going strong! The food here is delicious, and the people who run this place are the absolute nicest. Some of my favorites are the tortas, tacos el carbon, and the queso. The caldo de res is so good when you're feeling under the weather. Tortilla chips are killer too. This is some good ole Tex-Mex, and will definitely satisfy your fix. Now that Ruchi's on West Alabama and Shepherd is closed, my go-to for late night Mexican bites is at Chapultepec or La Tapatia. Hope everyone comes out and continues to support this business!

Yelp
I've been going here for 40 years - I won't be back. Chapultepec no longer resembles the days of past gone by. Not sure what happened recently, but the food is radically different - quality is horrible and prices have double in just the past few years. Taco al carbon has always been my go to, two flour tortillas stuffed with grilled fajita, grilled onions, and chopped tomatoes, drizzled with cheese sauce before being rolled up, served with refried beans and yellow rice, and garnished with a tad of sour cream and guacamole. No more! The cheese tastes like burnt flour (I could actually see the burnt bits floating in the sauce) and didn't taste cheesy at all. The fajita meat was definitely not freshly cooked. And they no longer serve it with guac and sour cream. Also had a house margarita which was tasteless. They also used to have some of the best fresh salsa in town. No more! It tasted like it was from a can. And the chips felt like they were fried weeks age. It's a total shame to loose an iconic late night dive hole-in-the-wall that has filled the memories of so many Houstonians. RIP Chapultepecs.

Yelp
Delicious, great cost food open late! We even called ahead one time because we were so hungry and they had all the food ready to serve immediately by the time we got there.

Yelp
I was in the area and tried to go to another Tex Mex/Mexican restaurant that ended up being closed. I remembered a colleague telling me about this place and it was close by, so I decided to check it out. There is a huge parking lot right next to it, which you cannot park in. No points deducted for that but as a heads up, there's a narrow driveway on the left side that leads to a parking area around back, which is actually the entrance. Alternatively, if you go around the block there is another entrance to the parking area from a side street. For some reason, walking in was a bit awkward. Maybe it was the lack of any music ( which I don't think I consciously registered at the time), or the lack of greeting. It was so quiet in there. It was like a movie, when the new guy in town walks in a room and all heads turn and look but no one talks. I felt like Marty McFly walking into the saloon in 1885 for the first time. In the words of Tupac.."All Eyez On Me." After the awkward entrance and silence, I made my way to a seat. At this point, I'm just astounded at how quiet it is in this place. It was a Sunday but even church is louder than this. I couldn't decide if the outdated look of the place was by design or just ambivalence. Either way, what I'm really here is for good food, so judging by the looks, I am expecting some abuela level cuisine here. Growing up in a West Texas Mexican household, I have high expectations when it comes to "authentic Tex Mex/Mexican food" (don't get me started on this loaded phrase/label and debate). I'm not sure people in the USA, even Texas, understand how many regions and influences there are in Mexican food, Texas Mexican food being one of them. I digress, though, so let me step off my soapbox. The first time I'm coming to a new Texas Mexican restaurant I'm looking for a few things to standout. The salsa that comes with the chips. I'll give some leeway on the chips themselves although they can't be totally generic, but way less leeway on the salsa. This salsa was really good! This is the heat level that seems to be lacking in a lot of restaurants I've gone to in the area. When the salsa brings a tear to my eye, these are tears of happiness! Okay, salsas good. Let's check a few other things. Do they have Carne Guisada? Check! I'll order that. And let's see what those tortillas do. The waitress was very polite and gave us time to peruse the menu. On a side note, there is a dish called Chapulines on the menu, which means grasshopper in Mexican Spanish ( influenced by Nahuatl, a native Mexican language), and is a thing in Mexican, especially Oaxacan cuisine (again regional). I haven't found them outside of Hugo's (let me know Yelpers) in Houston. So I saw this and was excited as heck until I realized, it's just a chicken or beef burrito. Huh? New one to me. Never heard of burritos referred by that name before. Anyway, the Carne Guisada comes out. It looks a little different than what my mom and abuela cooked and almost every restaurant in west Texas. I'm used to a lot more gravy with my meat. Half of the fun is trying to soak up all the gravy with tortillas. This had very little. The meat was good. It had a good flavor and was tender and the serving size was good. The beans and rice were solid but not outstanding. The tortillas were a little meh to me. Just not as soft and pliable as I like. If you've ever had homemade abuela or mom tortillas, you know what I mean. Everything was ok and I'd like to try some other things out sometime but I'm not rushing back at the moment. I was going to give 2 stars but then I remembered the salsa, which I ordered a container to go. It was that good. I'd go back just for that. The waitress was very good. Attentive and polite. I'm still mystified about the quiet in there though. Play some music, please. Anything, Tejano, Norteño, Banda, Corridos. Even 80's or Country music. It's just weird listening to the table two booths away from me talk about how much they hate El Paso for 30 minutes. I'll give it a three for now. I hope to return in the future and have a better experience.

Yelp
These low reviews seem nuts. More than serviceable comfort food available late night. In a city with a dearth of options for its size, Chapultepec is dependable and satisfying. And, I didn't learn this until my most recent visit, they will do milanesa de polla for the tortas, which is very cool

R G.

Yelp
Food is not very good, I hate their breakfast tacos. Eggs are always dry even though I order soft tacos. My fault for ordering the same thing. Only once I've been satisfied.

Yelp
Best place for late night dining. Wine list sucks. Beer is cold. Margaritas are good. Stays open till 4am. always fun.

Yelp
Excellent late night spot when craving Tex Mex. Great service for placing pick up/take out order. Reasonably priced with a nice variety of food & drink options on menu.

Xtina G.

Yelp
They charged 1.50 for cilantro, which is EXTREME. I only asked for it bc the pico de gallo was pretty bad. I didn't even dare ask for a to go cup for the rest of my drink, i just left it. The chile relleno was good, but it made my taco soggy. They should have put it on a different plate. They also don't have typical guisados like bistec a la mexicana. I asked the waitress and she said they only have sizzling fajitas. Not what i asked, but ok. The menu is extremely disorganized and difficult to read. The chips are hard as hell. I had high hopes since there aren't a lot of Mexican places nearby, but I'll just keep going to Picos. It came out to be about the same price, with much LOWER quality and less nicer ambiance.

Manoah R.

Yelp
Love this place because of their late hours, but was just greeted an hour before closing with a refusal to serve us. When I brought up their hours posted on their wall I was basically put in an argument with a certain gentleman. Pretty ridiculous.
google avatar

Brittney R.

Yelp
Can't believe I hadn't stopped at this restaurant before now. First, it is clean and the staff is inviting once you're in. I like that it has an intimate /family oriented vibe with no long waits . The waitress was very helpful and on point during the entire service. My friend and I ordered a vegetable enchilada plate which included refried beans , rice lettuce and tomato. The flavors were just right and the Happy hour alcoholic beverage was .Thanks again for the excellent service.

Yelp
Roaches. I sat down with my friend in their dining room that lacked central AC which would've been fine if they had fans. However, when we sat down I noticed something on the wall. A huge roach, at least 2 inches long, just chillin on the wall. Another couple saw the roach and was concerned as well. I quickly gathered my things and left. The manager tried to alleviate the situation but I was ready to leave.

Yelp
It was a pretty late night and my date and I were pretty hungry, so we were grateful that Chapultepec Lupita was open at that hour. Our server was extremely kind and explained the menu; there were so many choices, which I loved! Perfect place to grab a decent bite of food post-club/random late night cravings.
google avatar

Roma B.

Yelp
Had heard this was one of Lizzo's recommended spots to eat at when visiting Houston. It's an authentic, hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. Loved our server, he was very sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. Came by for lunch on a weekday, they had a lot of lunch specials. Ordered the mole enchilada plate (1 chicken, 1 cheese, 1 spinach). The portion size was huge and enchiladas were piping hot and flavorful. Loved the salsa they gave, one of the best I've had in a long time, it was very spicy!

Colin R.

Yelp
Just a cool old dive and you know it's gonna be open late. I have been going there since the mid 80s and it really hasn't changed much was in there for the first time in about 12 years three weeks ago and I really will be going back to visit this place again soon. Who knows maybe even tonight?
google avatar

Yelp
Good food. Nice, quiet ambiance. Price is reasonable. Nice decor. Out of the way which is good. That means only those of us who know and like this place find it.

Yelp
My wife and her sister were visiting family in Houston and my wife was taking a morning walk when a guy started following her. After he followed her for some time, my wife started getting suspicious and changed pace, direction, etc, all of which he matched. At one point she even started running and he ran after her to keep up. She tried confronting him, telling him to leave her alone, but he kept coming and even tried to get her to come closer to him by saying he was looking for something and maybe she could help him. She finally ducked into this restaurant, thinking she had lost him, only to have him come in and sit down at the table next to her. My wife asked for the owners and explained the situation to them. The owners IMMEDIATELY told the man he had to leave and didn't back down until he did, giving my wife a sense of safety and ending what was turning into a nightmare. I've never met the owners of this restaurant, but you can bet I will make a point of it the next time I'm in Houston. To the owners: Thank you, thank you, thank you for saving my wife!!!

Yelp
No seasoning. No taste. Was hoping for flavor and deliciousness. Did not get either. Service and ambiance was good but food was definitely not.

Patrick Y.

Yelp
I am literally one of there most frequent customers. The food is gross but until tonight I supported them because they're local. The woman at the counter who's seen me so many times told me I'd have to wait. How do you treat loyal customers like that? Never going back
google avatar

Yelp
Ah my go-to after hour spot! Besides being short staff, the food is incredible, and i love that they close very late; I've been coming here for more than 16 + years :)

Yelp
Very delicious hidden gem. Went here with my work team for lunch. Free unsweet tea for lunch and they have sugar packets on the table. Food came out quick and was sooo good, as you can see by my plate lol. Also, very friendly service and lots of parking in the back. I noticed that they have Happy hour 11am-8pm! The drink specials were priced pretty well but I didn't get a drink therefore, not sure how they tasted.

Yelp
This food was good I ordered a cheese enchilada it was good the rice was good and the beans but the chews was not very melted but it was honestly good and the tortilla tasted like pelon candy

Yelp
This place used to be great. The service is terrible now, the food is terrible now, and they rip you off on the bill.

Yelp
The food here is AMAZING. Service is always phenomenal, whether it's a full house or a few stragglers the quality of the service and food never waivers. Its a quaint spot to eat with friends or maybe alone. The lunch specuals are great, really there are no complaints about this spot.

Lupe S.

Yelp
Food is always good waitresses are always kind and attentive. Unfortunately the restaurant is super outdated and in desperate need of a little renovating. 9/10 times the a/c is not on and it's kind of muggy. And it's abnormally quiet unless you turn the jukebox on yourself. There's a middle aged Hispanic gentleman working here that has exhibited some homophobic behavior against our group before. Been kicked out because he claimed one of friends was being disrespectful. And have seen him not allow a group in because a guy was wearing a mesh shirt. Only thing bringing us back is the food and the nice waitresses. Besides that, I would avoid it.

Ashley M.

Yelp
Service was quick (I got takeout) food was pretty good, no complaints, really good option, would recommend

Yelp
My wife & I went here Friday 5/5, around 10pm. Just my luck to get a Tex-Mex craving on Cinco de Mayo. But despite some problems finding the place (the parking is behind the restaurant, and not immediately obvious, it messed up my Google Maps), we found a spot and were seated right away. Our drink order was promptly taken & brought out. My wife had the Torta Milanesa with fries, and I had fajita steak nachos. [NOTE: the nachos are on the menu as 6-piece and 12-piece; I was confused, but they make their nachos on each chip, not a pile of chips. Six pieces is six chips, twelve is twelve. Be aware.] The food was tasty, and our drinks were kept full. One complaint was that my steak pieces were pretty big for one bite, and the meat was cut the wrong way - it was a tough chew. But it tasted good. (Shrug) Overall it was a nice Tex-Mex place for a late-night dinner.

Yelp
I have not liked a Mexican restaurant in a while. This place was recommended by a co worker and I loved it. Heres what I like. Green enchiladas, beef or chicken soup aka Caldo, and I love the quesadillas. The place does need a lil remodel but it's not dirty. Thats huge for me. And customer service is good. No complains from me.

Yelp
In 1977 I lived in the neighborhood my roommate and I showed up at thier door a day before the restaurant was opened for business and they fed us anyway. Was good then and still is today. Been going there forever and never disappointed.

Yelp
I've come to this place multiple times and I have to say it is absolutely delicious! Authentic Mexican flavors with perfectly seasoned rice and beans every time. I suggest the chicken chimichanga it's fire

Yelp
I can't anymore with this restaurant! It's the saddest thing to me. The food here is spot on in my opinion. The problem is one man who works there. I called in to ask his name and he said he is the owner!!!!! Before that while at the restaurant I asked for a manager he said he's a manager according to him. Unhelpful in every way conceivable when I expressed dissatisfaction and a desire to talk to someone. When I, after leaving, later called for more info about him he refused to give his name or verify anything. So who knows if he's the owner or a disgruntled employee. His attitude is that of a bus boy that should've been fired long ago. He's almost always at the register to check out. He even charges me different prices different times for the same exact order depending on the day and taxes me. I never even complained once about that believe it or not aside from side conversing with friends who go with me and notice the same. I have been going here since I was about 19 and I'm 41 now. So I've always enjoyed their food! But without exception, every time, that man is rude to me and my friends. The waitresses and waiters are always nice and so are the other managers. It's literally just him making this bad review exist. I was just in tonight ordering my regular. Tacos, beans, rice, queso, all to go. I normally wait out front and one of the waitresses brings me my order. That hadn't happened tonight and some time had passed by. Now before I proceed, please understand, I bartended and managed restaurants and bars for almost a decade. So before I really get judgemental and call shots, understand that I am coming from a background that knows all the ins and outs of service industry standards. I don't expect to have my food brought to me. It's something that they do for me as a regular. And I was always grateful. So I go in to check even though I'd been maintaining a solid look out for my order. I've been in plain sight the whole time even out front while waiting for my food. I see what looks like my order so I go inside and I ask if it's my order sitting in plain sight. The food was being ignored and getting cold. The guy I'm complaining about refused to even answer me or look at my food. Then a waitress nearby seemed as offended as me and asked him for me and then he obviously ignored her so very deliberately. I don't know why he acts like this toward me. It feels especially disrespectful, when I've extended gracious attitude toward him even though without exception he always treats me without even basic dignity. I have spent countless dollars with always a 20% or better tip. (usually better) So eventually the waitress was fed up with his attitude and raised her voice at him on my behalf. I took my food after she confirmed it was my order. I felt very very irate by the disrespect. I asked her on the way out as she thanked me for my business, you know like normal business etiquette, "why is he always so ****** rude?!" Her immediate response was an "I don't know why he's like that?!" And she seemed to strongly agree with that perspective from what I could tell. So I'm now leaving the restaurant food in hand and it didn't sit well. I felt emotionally incapable of not addressing the issue face to face and asking what or why he was always rude to me. I went back inside to the register where he still was and asked for a manager as I mentioned earlier. He gate kept the ability for me talk to anyone else immediately! That was alarming too. Not ok to do that in this industry. And if he really is the manager, the following should really sink in to you as a reader: when I asked directly to his face as I realized I was going to have to talk to him and only him "why are you always so extremely rude to me? Do I not tip enough? Was I rude to you? Have I done anything to offend you?" His immediate response, without any hesitation, was to make a face of disdain toward me roll his eyes in my face and say that's my presumption. I couldn't believe a grown man and manager of a restaurant would behave like that and realized this person literally wants me not to do business there. Why? I'm not as big on presumptions as he said I am so who knows. But how's this for a presumption? Anyone must have deep issues if they think that's any way to treat a customer! And they definitely don't deserve my business or anyone else's! And if he's lying about his role at this restaurant I would strongly suggest the real owners / managers fire him, like a long time ago, and make a public response acknowledging that he shouldn't represent such an iconic, culturally significant, and tasty restaurant. I'll end with this, great food, great location, great history.... all ruined by one extremely rude person. I will not, despite loving the food, be giving them my business ever again unless that man is removed permanently. And if he's really, truly the owner, what a shame!!!!!!

Yelp
we sat out on the "patio" which is the third dining area on richmond ave. the first thing we noticed was an almost sewage like smell. they brought out water and I looked around the room and it was filthy. we left when no one was looking, if I could give it a two word review it would be "bonafide dump" sorry Chapultepec, I used to be a weekly customer.

Yelp
Chapultepec is Tex Mex and. I live across the street 12 years and had a 24 hour Mexican restaurant at my fingertips and the area was where bars and clubs were. It is a stable in montrose Houston. If you haven't been then a must try. It's been around for years. It's a hole in the wall but they dish out great food. How I miss living in montrose and eating here all the time.

Yelp
Chapultepec is known for late night bites for the late night party goer. For me, this is where my fellow night shifters and I go to have breakfast and enjoy a drink after a long shift at the hospital. This place can definitely be classified as a divey, hole in the wall kind of place, but it's got character. It looks like a house turned restaurant. We always get the same nice, older gentleman taking care of us and he does a fantastic job. Drinks are always on point and tasty. Food is far from gourmet but it is always delicious. I usually order from the dinner menu but on occasion I go with breakfast items. The chimichanga is very good and my favorite dish. They do not skimp on the meat. The chilaquiles is a favorite of ours as well. If you want light bites before bed, get some queso or their delicious breakfast tacos. All in all, this is a great option day or night!

Yelp
Thought I'd dine in here after ordering to-go numerous times. The service alone is enough to make me want to come back. I rarely feel this welcome in a restaurant - our server seemed genuinely kind and was the perfect amount of attentive. As for the food, they start you off with their hearty chips and fresh, spicy salsa. The salsa is on the finer side, making it easy to work with and consume. The chile con queso doesn't miss. As for my flautas, they were fresh and the chicken inside was perfectly seasoned. I love this place. Come for the warm atmosphere and the fresh food.

Yelp
Chapultepec is another restaurant that I hadn't been to for a long time. I got there on a Saturday afternoon about 5pm and I was the only customer when I arrived. The chips were just ok but the salsa was really good. I ordered exactly what I used to get, cheese enchiladas verde with rice and charro beans. The enchiladas were good but slightly better than lukewarm. Why can't I find good charro beans anywhere? No flavor, no spice. I'm giving a 4 just because. I'll go back again.
