Google
Charcoal was an amazing place to get breakfast! The location is near the river that you can view if you get a table near the window. I had gone here in January. We had made a reservation so we did not have to wait. Service was very nice and attentive. I had the eggs Benedict with ham and it was good. Someone else at my table got the eggs Benedict Florentine which I think was even better! I also liked the home fries. Everything was nicely flavored. Our most favorite thing that our table had shared as a group of 3 was the brioche donut which was amazing. It was warm and the caramel sauce was perfect with it-one of the best donuts I’ve ever had. I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a yummy breakfast spot with great service and nice views.

Google
Absolutely love Charcoal BYOB! The food is delicious, the service is fast and friendly and the views of the Delaware river are breathtaking. It's a BYOB so you do have to bring your own alcoholic beverages but that means the bill is that much more pleasant to receive! I can't wait to go back!

Google
My first time visiting this restaurant and I thought it was so very nice. We came for breakfast and I have to say the pancakes were delicious, some of the best I ever had. The creamed chipped beef was delicious, I only wish it had been served a little hotter. The home fries had so much flavor and the portions are more than generous! I so look forward to a return trip.

Google
Celebrating our Mom’s 91st birthday. Our first time there and I chose it based on the reviews. Mom had a lovely time. Thank you Charcoal for a lovely, memorable day. Oh, and their donut dessert was amazing-we ordered one and then two!

Google
I went to the Charcoal BYOB on Delaware Avenue in Yardley, PA today. I had the Au Poivre Cheese Steak (pictured below) with Sweet Potatoe Fries and followed that up with their signature Brioche Donuts. The food and service were great during a busy Saturday late lunch rush. We will be back again.

Google
The ambiance is nice, we went for brunch and the place was packed, had to find parking on the street because the parking lot fills up very fast. Food was decent, nothing out of the ordinary and the price average as well. We were a large group but after paying (and leaving a nice tip) they pretty much kicked us out. So if you want to go catch up with friends or family you better make it quick.

Google
This place was outstanding, from the kind and efficient staff, the food, THE VIEW, and the quiet hum of fun conversation and gentle clanking of silverware and earth made coffee mugs. I was there for breakfast, the menu was full of choices, familiar yet a twist of their own; complimenting ingredients and cooking techniques , your taste buds will salivate for! Future you will thank you!

Google
First time visiting Charcoal and won't be my last. Met up with a friend here today for lunch. We split the brioche donut, which was amazing! I ordered the fancy smash burger (the double) and my friend ordered the Korean fried chicken sandwich. My burger was incredible, one of the best burgers I've had in a very long time. My friend really enjoyed his chicken sandwich, says it was the perfect amount of heat. I'll be bringing my family back here soon so they can try or for themselves.

Yelp
The food is very good and it's not expensive. The menu is small but covers the breakfast basics. We had coffee, an omelette, hash browns, a side of bacon, and a donut. It was all very good including the coffee. The omelette was a nice size and tasty. The hash browns were not greasy. The donut was delicious. It came with a rich caramel sauce. We had to ask for jelly for the toast. The server brought Smuckers in the little packs, as well as a small amount of homemade jam in a paper cup. The service was subpar. The male server was not very friendly. He took forever to get us extra creamers. I finally asked another table who was finished eating if I could have theirs since my coffee was getting cold. We had to ask for coffee refills. He didn't check back after the food was delivered. He didn't refill our coffee or water. The hostess was nice and friendly. It was busy on a Sunday at 12:30. We waited about 25 minutes for a table. They accept reservations so it's a good idea to make them. No one is in a rush here so you're not going to get in and it quickly. It's a BYOB restaurant and I saw a few tables with champagne and wine at brunch. Thar's nice because not many brunch places have a BYOB policy. The river views are pretty and can be seen from pretty much every table. Make a reservation if you want to sit at the window. I would return to Charcoal and hopefully next time the service will be better. If the service has been good, I would have given this place five stars.

Yelp
Most people don't get excited over oatmeal, but let me tell you...Charcoal's oatmeal is the best around. Fruit, walnuts if you want, a dash of brown sugar, and a bit of cream that you can add and it's a meal! The atmosphere is perfect with a view of the beautiful Delaware River. Coffee and tea served in really cool mugs. If you have room after breakfast, I'd highly recommend the donut. It's not your regular donut though. Sugared donut with a bit of warm caramel drizzle. Share with a friend...or not.

Yelp
Beautiful views with seats overlooking the river, this gem is definitely worth a stop if you're visiting Bucks County. The place gets packed by locals on weekends, so you'll need to reserve in advance. Wait staff is always friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is reasonably priced if you get the eggs anyway dish. I really enjoyed their eggs Benedict with different toppings, especially spinach. The crown of the jewel is their fresh donut and donut hole with maple glaze. Have never had a donut like this anywhere. Fresh out of oven, it gives just the right crisp and melts into pure soft and sweet inner goodness that melts in your mouth. I've brought friends here just to let them the donut. Worth the visit!

Yelp
Loved this little well loved town favorite, our future daughter in law has been coming here since she was little. Nice upstairs with a view of the river. Very friendly service, excellent coffee, delicious food. We would be regulars here, I am sure.

Yelp
My second time at Charcoal, but this time for lunch. Went during the heatwave happening now in June on the East Coast. Place was hot, just about no AC...only cranked it up when I asked. Second, I asked for a takeout order of a Turkey Club sandwich, specifically 'dry', absolutely no mayonnaise. Repeated this twice to the server, and I could see she was writing it down. I get home, and the sandwich is drenched with mayonnaise. Immediately called the restaurant, as the sandwich is for dinner tonight. Explain the situation to the hostess, told her I will come back to get a replacement with no mayo. She puts me on hold, comes back on and tells me they can't replace the sandwich until tomorrow morning. Are you kidding me??? What customer Service...NOT!!! Won't be dining back there, ever!!!

Yelp
Love the food here, their donut is a staple and the view is always beautiful! The service has always been good as well and everyone is kind

Yelp
Bad service! I called to place an order for pick up and only for them to say one moment and had me waiting for 5 minutes until I decided to hang up the phone. I called again a few minutes later only to hear nothing, nobody picked up the phone. I understand they are busy but this is just rude to customers like me that want to place an order by phone.

Yelp
My family comes here about every Sunday for the past 8 years and have never had a bad meal. The vibe and views are amazing

Yelp
The food was delicious, the view was great and our server was one of the nicest servers ever he was super attentive and made great suggestions. Ordered the crab cake Beignets. and the 1/2 sized pasta was delicious great portion sizes. It was so filling that we had to get the desert Beignets to go. The caramel sauce was to die for!!!!

Yelp
I always love getting a gift card to a restaurant from my son because he knows how to pick a great spot and once again he picked a winner (thanks Justin ). I'm just gonna highlight a few things but add this; everything we had was a flavor explosion. Here goes-the homemade bread with Vermont butter was light and airy, the Yardley Hot Chicken was crispy and moist, and we splurged cause well, gift certificate, the donut sundae was again light with plenty of cinnamon sugar. Waitstaff was fun and interactive and Charcoal also served up a double rainbow to add to the already serene view of the Delaware.

Yelp
I really wanted to give this place a five star review but unfortunately I can't. Recently, I dine with two friends and we started with the bread (which was excellent though there's a charge for it), brussels sprouts and crabcake beignets. Everything was delicious. For our entrées, we ordered the fried chicken, the fish special, and the $65 strip steak. The chicken and fish were fantastic, but the steak was disappointing-it was more fat than meat. Since we were sharing plates, we quickly realize there wasn't enough meat on the steak, so we sent it back. The waitress was very understanding and agreed to take it off our table. However, when the bill came, we were still charged for the steak. When we asked the waitress about it, she said the chef felt we had eaten enough to be charged. We had each taken one small bite before noticing it was mostly fat. We're all big meat eaters, so we know a strip steak will have some fat, but this one was over 50% fat, which just isn't acceptable. We asked to speak to the manager, but apparently, there wasn't one on duty, after some back-and-forth, the waitress return, and the stake charge was finally removed. It's unfortunate, because aside from this issue, the rest of the meal was very good. As someone who eats out often, the food is important, but so is the service. Having to insist on a correct correction and feeling taking advantage of definitely left us our taste and doesn't make me eager to return.

Yelp
Called to see availability of brekkie for two. What Luck!! There was an open spot for us in about an hour. And a window seat too! Nice welcoming servers. She took our orders and we enjoyed the View of the river flowing. So gorgeous. . We ordered eggs Benedict & I got avo toast. The delightful waitress enticed us with their famous freshly made donut in caramel sauce. So much was delightful. Although it was very loud. Lots of kids testing their parent's patience.

Yelp
Have been wanting to come by for lunch especially. Amazing views. Clean place and friendly service. The parking lot is a bit tight and has a specific one way rule to it so make sure to pay attention to that. Food is delicious.

Yelp
Delicious food with a beautiful view. Our server was also very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back!

Joan K. D.

Yelp
We've been to Charcoal many times for dinner, always fabulous. This visit was our first time for brunch, phenomenal meal pre-Christmas. We really loved the variety of breakfast & lunch offerings, I would highly recommend them for brunch & dinner. The view is amazing.

Steven P.

Yelp
Breakfast was good, service was good and the view is great! It's a nice place to get breakfast. Standard breakfast fare. Tad pricey.
google avatar

Yelp
Great location and spacious parking lots. It was right by the river where we got to enjoy the view. Food was great! Especially their signature donuts that we got as an appetizer were so good, literally melting inside of the mouth when I took a bite. Good dish to start the meal with. Other breakfast menus were good too.

Mandy B.

Yelp
Excellent, service, menu, quality and price is very reasonable for Yardley. Comfortable atmosphere with a beautiful river view. It has a relaxed casual atmosphere. We are hooked.

Yelp
Had breakfast at Charcoal yesterday (Wednesday). The atmosphere is very nice, very eclectic, with a nice view of the Delaware River. My wife ordered the BLT, on a Multi-grain bread (very good she said) & a Beet salad mixed with Walnuts & yogurt with a hint of pepper I ordered the Blue Cheese Omelet with Arugula & Mandarin Orange slices mixed in, was to die for. You wouldn't think these ingredients would blend so well, but they do! In short, everything was delicious & we will be back soon.

Yelp
Made reservations for a Friday night. Came in seated promptly. It is BYOB so we brought a bottle of wine and the server after greeting us quickly put it on ice for us. We ordered sweet corn beignets, the bread, and rye radiatori for the apps. The bread was really good love the nice crunch or the crust. Sweet corn beignets were the absolute highlight. Nice crunch on outside and then creamy corn potato inside with a creamy sauce and salsa like topping on top. I would go back just for these. The noodles were great I'm not much of a red sauce noodle dish person I find them a little too heavy sometimes and we ordered half portion of the noodles which was a good call. Homemade pasta was great and dish had a lot of flavor depth to it. For mains my husband ordered the duck and I the salmon. I felt the apps were more of the star than the mains. The mains needed more seasoning/flavor. Duck was cooked well was tender but could have been just a tad bit more tender. Then for dinner we had the doughnut and a side of soft serve. I'm not a big on sweets my husband is and I couldn't even stop trying to eat the doughnut. It was so good -- perfect textures. The servers were great. Ambience was beautiful. They care about their ingredients there and it shows. I would definitely go back for dinner and even try their breakfast or brunch.

Yelp
Came to this cute BYOB for brunch to celebrate Father's Day. It's located on River Road with a great view of the Delaware. The place is average size making sure everyone spaced out enough. Appreciate they have a elevator outside to accommodate those who struggle with steps. Our party of 6 had reservations and was seated within a few minutes with a fairly nice view of the water. We brought a couple bottles of Prosecco and ordered OJ to make Mimosa. Our server was great and found out later he played baseball with our son. How ironic. Our brunch entrees: Brichoe Doughnuts, Ice Coffee, Custom Omelets, Breakfast Sampler, Avocado Toast, Blueberry Pistachio Pancakes and Chickpea Caesar Salad. This was our first time, but it won't be our last. Thanks for making Father's Day memorable.

Carly T.

Yelp
Food was unique and delicious. Got the kung pao brussels sprouts to start and that was gone within seconds. It had a nice initial sweetness with a kick at the end of each bite. Brussels sprouts were shaved or sliced, allowing them to be cooked evenly and they had a nice little char to them. Then we got the ink & yuzu fusilli and that was good as well. There was a nice balance of flavors and the shrimp was cooked perfectly, coming from someone who does not really prefer shrimp. Afterwards we had the yardly hot chicken and that had a crispy factor, while maintaining the moisture of the chicken and was perfectly cooked. The side salad/romaine lettuce was a good balance to the chicken. As the saying goes, there's always room for dessert and the doughnut sundae was nice and fresh and the ice cream really compliments the cinnamon sugar and caramel nicely it is a must. They make the bread and doughnuts in house. Service was great and the dishes were appropriately spaced out as I needed a little rest in between all the amazing dishes. We were there for an hour and a half to enjoy bread, appetizers, pasta, main meals, and dessert. Make the reservation and come here hungry.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere, decent to good food, service is mostly good. don't go without a reservation even on off days. Waiting can be loooooonnnngggg.

Holly D.

Yelp
The food was amazing. The service was slow and the waitress was incredibly rude. She charged my card for the wrong tab that was nearly double our bill and handled it poorly and like it was our fault! We will be back, for take-out only.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant in the Yardley area! It was our first visit and won't be our last. Very innovative cuisine and seasonal changing menu. Daily specials are available as well. There is a small parking lot behind the restaurant and if filled can park along the side street. Restaurant is BYOB and have decent wine glasses - no need to bring your own. Note: Although the restaurant is on the second floor, there is an elevator available for handicap accessibility. Servers were kind and very attentive. In addition to the food, it made for a pleasant evening and experience. Will definitely return. Enjoy!

Greta R.

Yelp
Great food was prepared for us. Wonderful service was provided Beautiful view of the river was seen at our seats

Yelp
Charcoal is a nice spot for brunch! It's a bright space with large windows that overlooks the Delaware River. Great views of the river with moderately priced tasty food is a win! The menu changes seasonally and many of the ingredients are locally sourced. If dining here for dinner it is BYOB and reservations would be a good idea, since it's not very large. The service was very friendly and if we are in the area again, we would stop here for brunch. I ordered the Bluberry Pistachio panckaces, because it sounded like an interesting combination. The were good and the blueberries added enough sweetness for me; I was able to forgo the syrup. We also got the Schnitzel breakfast special, which my husband enjoyed.
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
I recently stopped by Charcoal for the first time in about 3 yrs. My last visit didn't make that much of an impression on me, but this time around the food was much, much better. I went with the arugula, orange and blue cheese omelette along with an espresso. I was really impressed with my meal. The omelette flavor combo was really interesting (who the hell puts oranges and blue cheese into eggs anyway?) and the coffee was excellent too, much better than the putrid swill I received way back when. The view of the river is as nice as ever and beautiful to watch as you eat. Glad I have Charcoal another shot. Will definitely add them to my rotation of breakfast spots.

Michael M.

Yelp
First of all, the views from the second floor are amazing. We got there for brunch. It was busy but we were seated right away. I had a BLT and my wife had a chicken salad BLT. The real star was a side dish of beets in citrus yogurt with chopped walnuts. We don't get up this way often, but if we do, we'll definitely stop back in.

Yelp
4.5. food is above average (8.2/10). potatoes are great. view is really pretty, especially in the fall. reservation def needed-easy to book online. byo.

Sheg G.

Yelp
Terrible service, just terrible. Don't waste your time, the food isn't worth an hour wait (if they even bring your whole order). Mediocre eggs, hunks of potato barled seasoned and hardly cooked passed off as homefries (would love for the chef to quickly google homefries and get back to us with what he makes). Couldn't tell you how the French toast is lately, they simply didn't bring it. The chef and waitstaff seem to be friendly, they disappear together into the kitchen for 30mins at a time. The doughnuts were pretty much the only think of note and they simply aren't worth the service or rest of the slop they serve here. As a longtime resident, go anywhere else!

Yelp
2/9/2020 Review A very disappointing visit for breakfast today. The only saving grace was our server. The special was prime rib with eggs and potatoes. Jess and I both ordered and it came out quickly. It was gray and unappealing like it was old and it was on special to try and get rid of it. It did not taste like prime rib at all and was very fatty. This is something I'd expect from Denny's, not from charcoal. I don't like spending almost $50 for breakfast and getting that result. Bright, clean and airy with a fantastic view of the Delaware River. Service is great and their host is very cheery with good knowledge of the menu. Breakfast is moderately priced but tasty. Their beans are from Other Animal Coffee which is quite good and they also sell 12oz bags for $14. For lunch we ordered a cheesesteak and chicken cheesesteak with a side of long hots. The quality of food is top notch. I do wish there was a little more meat on the sandwiches and a better roll. But still, it was very good. Seems like we will become regulars

Yelp
We usually get take out here, which is always great, but last night we were game for a nice relaxing dinner out. We decided to walk the canal to Charcoal. Best dinner out we've had anywhere in ages! The food was absolute perfection, the chef is a marvel ! We started with the pretzel crusted calamari and ordered the braised short ribs and the salmon, ending with brioche donut sundae with homemade ice cream. Wow! Everything was prepared with a creative, innovative flair, nothing ordinary or mundane and wonderfully hot meals. Such a delight to actually enjoy every element of the dining experience, setting, atmosphere, staff and delicious cuisine. What a wonderful night out! Thank you Chef, kitchen and staff!!! P.S. And clean, so very clean, we notice and very much appreciate that.

Yelp
Eggs Benedict with lobster was delightful! Lobster cooked to perfection and very succulent! Side of potatoes was well done. Smoked salmon dish was extremely good, very generous portion. Waitress Gerri was very attentive and pleasant. A must go!

Yelp
This review is for Charcoal's brunch only. As soon as hubby and I found Charcoal we knew it was love at first brunch! The place is located on a scenic corner overlooking the Delaware river, with it's giant windows there is a real romantic air about eating here. Because of the rustic chic feel, I assumed Charcoal was also going to be very overpriced, but it is quite reasonable AND it's BYOB. Hubby and I have had many of the platters for breakfast, I love that they have a changing menu and keep things different. Some of the best things I can remember eating here are their home made biscuits and gravy, their apple berry jam, and omlettes. Also, if you like a good cup of coffee, they serve a nice strong cup here as well. Which is important if you plan on having one of their freshly made donuts - do not leave without having one! The only downfall I have with Charcoal is that the service is a bit slow, which also causes a gigantic wait time if you arrive when they are busy. We have come and had to leave a few times due to the insane wait times for brunch. On the upside, if you get here early, you get wonderful service and are not rushed to leave your table at all. I came here for hubby's birthday and we did not leave until he had his birthday donut despite the wait, and no one even batted an eye. Overall, I highly recommend Charcoal if in the area, and then taking a walk around Washington Crossing Park.

Yelp
An excellent lunch once again at Charcoal. Our group had tomato soup, Korean chicken sandwich and a chicken Louie sandwich. The tomato soup is creamy and packed with flavor. Might be the best tomato soup I ever had. The sandwiches are delicious and large - probably enough for two meals. And I had the side order of roasted beets with walnuts and yogurt - this was fantastic!

Lisa F.

Yelp
Food was pretty good. Atmosphere was also good. Wish they had a liquor license - with a group of 4 or more, it is just a hassle to bring your own drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
Honestly your doing yourself a disservice if you don't come here. The flavors of every dish are so unique and make the perfect combination for an amazing meal. Started off with the beet appetizer and bread which I highly recommend followed by the rye pasta dish and rigatoni vodka pasta which were to die for. Make sure you don't leave the restaurant without trying their donut dessert. Homemade ice cream, caramel, and donuts which ended up being the best dessert I've had in years. In fact I will probably end up coming back here just for the dessert from time to time. The atmosphere is nice and quite and would highly recommend getting reservations before you stop in.

Yelp
This place is incredible, I went with the family and was greeted by a wonderful host. We sat down to an amazing view of the Delaware. We ordered the smash burgers (which is a Wednesday and Thursday special) and a half a loaf of bread. The first item that came out was the bread which was extraordinary. Before we got the burgers we had to wait a little, but because of the impeccable atmosphere the time flew. Once we got our smash burgers they were one of the greatest burgers I have ever tasted. The flavors built off of each other the mashed potatoes and the meat. Overall I would give this place 5 ducks out of 5 and would recommend it to anybody in the area.

Yelp
I've been here for brunch but dinner is where the real deal is. I made a reservation for a father's day dinner to be near the window (definite must, great views of the river). When we got to the restaurant there were a couple empty tables near the window but we weren't seated there. I was a bit confused and asked the waitress if we could be moved and she was saying how I need to request it ahead of time blah blah and I was like ummm i did. So they eventually moved us there luckily. We started with some homemade bread which was soooo good. it was crispy but buttery moist in the middle and a bit salty which went well with the butter. Then we got the grilled octopus which was grilled perfectly with a nice citrusy sauce. We got an appetizer portion of the soft shell crab pasta which was delightful! The soft shell crab was fried perfectly and was seasoned very well. The pasta was a bit spicy too which I loved! We got the salmon, oscar hanger steak and the fried chicken. Salmon cooked perfectly but very bland. There needs to be some pizzazz added to this dish. Salmon is salmon but can be elevated with some better side components and maybe some type of better sauce. Steak was cooked perfectly as well as seasoning with the lump crab meat. Fried chicken was so delicious and the nice pickled salad went perfectly with it. I'll definitely be back and be sure to order their other dishes!

Yelp
Aaaammmazzzing breakfast!!! We started off a birthday celebration day with breakfast here. I was a bit skeptical bc I was only here once, quite a few years ago, and have not been back bc I had a memorable bad experience and vowed never to return. However, I heard the breakfast was very good and it was time to give it a try. Never say never...right? So, having said that I made a full 180 degree turn and I had the most delicious bagel and salmon (lox) platter with avocado, capers, and cut veggies. It was a generous portion and fresh as could be. It was the kind of meal that you can't wait to go back for. Hubby raved about his breakfast also. It had everything...eggs, french toast, potatoes, pork roll, bacon...a real manly breakfast. Our guests enjoyed the avocado toast and eggs and omelet. We brought our bottle of champagne and our waitress provided us with OJ and glasses. Service was efficient, friendly and right on. Such a perfect start for our birthday girl.

Vivian K.

Yelp
Most innovative and consistently amazing food in area. Always a treat. Love breakfast/brunch/lunch but dinner is sublime.

Reema V.

Yelp
The food was good, the waiter was friendly however the hostess was extremely rude. She did not greet us when we arrived or left. She was also rude over the phone. We told the manager before we left as feedback. I then received a message on instagram from the owners daughter. Overall unprofessional behavior and attitude. Would avoid.

Yelp
Our favorite spot for a local fancy dinner or early breakfast! I always get the Yardley hot chicken and the donut dessert. For breakfast, everything's good - pancakes, eggs...can't go wrong!

Yelp
My friend and I were craving some brunch so we heeded the advice of some reliable Yelpers and drove to Charcoal. A decision we did not regret! Granted it was pretty busy on Good Friday and there was only one very overworked (but very friendly and humourous) person at the front counter who tripled as the check-in, waiter who seats you, and cashier. The guy was awesome though. Give him a raise lol. Our waitress was also very friendly and kind so 5 stars for service (especially on a very busy brunch day). The French toast was fluffy, sprinkled with powdered sugar, cinnamon, and just delicious! The corned beef hash was great though we would have liked a little more for a $4 side. The smoked salmon omelette had cream cheese and chives, and that was a nice taste combo. It reminded me a little of a bagel and lox that became an omelette. The western omelette was a nice basic can't-go-wrong classic with ham, cheese, peppers, and cheddar. Overall it was literally a Good Friday at the Charcoal restaurant with the great food and service!

Yelp
My mom and I met here for breakfast and had a lovely experience. Parking can be tricky - the lot is very small - but there's plenty of street parking nearby. The hike up the stairs might be tough but the view at the end is worth it (and there's an elevator if you need it). I ordered the salmon Benedict and my mom got the 1/2 sampler special with French toast. Portions were huge. My Benedict was loaded with salmon and my mom couldn't finish her meal (I helped with the French toast). Definitely shareable or you can skip lunch, which we both did. My only quibble is the side of potatoes. I hate these processed potatoes a lot of places call home fries. Potatoes are cheap and easy to prepare and a place of this caliber should absolutely be making their own home fries. I was really disappointed when the plate was placed in front of me because I had seen older photos that clearly show real, red skinned potatoes being served. Prices were very reasonable and service was fine, if a bit inattentive. We'd definitely go back.
