The 16 Hottest New Restaurants in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

"Korean barbecue comes to the Third Ward, taking over the high-ceilinged, elegant space that used to house Hinterland. Fried or steamed dumplings, edamame, grilled avocado, and sweet-spicy-garlicky Korean fried chicken wings dominate the more casual flavor flow of shared plates. Or choose your own adventure on the hot grill stone, with cut options like beef or pork bulgogi, galbi, and cumin-curry chicken thighs. Chef Yosub Yoon is also afforded some room for experimentation: kimchi gumbo, kimchi paella, kimchi poutine? You get the idea." - Todd Lazarski

This place is adorable and lives up to the reviews. Went early concerned I wouldn’t get in and sat at the bar. The bartender was awesome and guided me through the menu. They start w spicy cucumbers. I order spicy edamame and the spicy beef bulogi. All were exceptional and the portions were large.

Good food, cool ambiance and great spices. Drinks options are good. Street parking. Menu changed recently- flavors are great.

Google
it was such a hidden gem downtown, i used go there every month and there’s very few people dining when i dine in however the restaurants atmosphere is beautiful and the place has wonderful seating of varying party sizes and the food was amazing, however these items are from before they changed the menu, the menu changed tremendously and price increased as well, however the quality went down and their staples are all gone. Last time I went the dumplings got replaced with a sweet and sour sauce that you would get from fast food takeaway, the noodles had no meat and were dry and came with rice? I hope they change their menu back

Google
Very nice atmosphere with delicious food. Service was a bit spotty and slow. Waitress never came back to ask if we wanted any additional drinks and they didn't take away our dirty plates, but initially, our order was taken quickly. Just seems like we were forgotten about after that. Yummy food though with classy surroundings.

Google
We loved the atmosphere, the restaurant is very clean and modern, the seats were extremely comfortable as well. We got our food quickly and the flavor was incredible. Seriously the BEST dumplings I’ve ever had. I had the teriyaki dumplings and the beef galbi, my partner had the kimchi fried rice. We were so impressed and will be recommending the restaurant to others as well as coming back. The service was also great! Thank you for the experience!

Google
our food was mid at best, all tasted the same despite ordering 3 different dishes. seems like they douse everything in sesame oil. none of it was authentic. we waited 45 minutes for our food to come out. our server told us the kitchen was prioritizing another table over everyone else’s food and went to the back to dance and talk for 30 minutes. paper straws are gross, food is mid, left us for 20 minutes without bringing the rice for the stew we ordered. our server also felt the need to badmouth the kitchen to our table and curse them. overall unprofessional and not worth it for the quality of food. do better

Larry Robe

Google
The service is awful - your experience will not be any different than all of the other reviews that say the exact same thing. Our group of six waited forty minutes to order our food in spite of our best efforts to get the server to stop by. Over the course of a two hour period, the server brought a single drink and forgot time and time again to bring over a refill. After three reminder requests for the same drink, we ended up just cancelling the ordered drinks. Do not go. Do not “try it out”. Do not waste your time.

Update: I went there the other day and WOW. They have changed so much. They don’t have the dessert anymore, which was honestly why I would always go! Their beef bulgogi was insanely different. I was in shock to say the least. It literally was just cooked meat. I am so sad this place has changed their menu (their waitress told us the food has changed). It truly is not the same. This used to be my top 5 now it’s not even on the list. I added a photo of what the beef bulgogi looks like now (last photo)!. Not even remotely the same. Past review: 5/5 on everything. Absolutely loved the food. It’s my first time trying Korean food and wow oh wow. So many flavors, you’ll feel great. Big thank you to the chefs, it was amazing. Also GET THE DESSERT! (Thank me later ;) )

Yelp
Another great meal at Char'd! If you are dining here, do not sleep on the dumplings. They are to die for! I went for the spicy squid and pork this time. Spicy, savory, delicious. I also tried the yuzu beez specialty cocktail and really enjoyed it! Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. The service this visit was a little off. The food came out quickly. But our server was not very present as you would normally expect. Could be an off night. One other thing to note. We had a party of 6. It is not unusual to see a gratuity added for a party our size, and it was. But what was unusual was it was listed on the bill as a "service charge". That was unusual to me so I asked about it and was advised that it was a gratuity. I wasn't upset about it. But I would prefer to see it listed as a gratuity. Regardless, we will be back for the amazing food!

Yelp
Recently visited Char'd on a double date. I walk past the spot all the time, and have been wanting to check it out so I was happy to cross it off my list! We started out with the scallion pancake and the sweet & spicy dumplings--which I'd both recommend you order! These are definitely some of the best potstickers I've ever had, topped with a sauce that seemed like chili oil. The scallion pancake had little pieces of shrimp tucked away, which was a pleasant surprise. We also got a complementary dish of kimchi. For the main entrees, our server recommended all of her favorite dishes to us--and 3/4 of us ended up ordering one of her recommendations. My boyfriend ordered the galbi, and the meat was really flavorful. My friends enjoyed the pork and beef bulgogi (also server recommendations). I ordered the jap chae glass noodles, which have a flavor ever so reminiscent of sweet potato. I had never had anything like them, when it comes to taste and presentation! Our server was very attentive with refilling our waters and checking in on us enough throughout our stay. Come to Char'd when you want to try something new! It'd be a great Third Ward date spot, whether you sit at the bar or have a full meal together.

Yelp
Char'd is such a great sit-down Korean restaurant with a modern vibe - something I haven't seen often. This is the perfect spot to split everything you want from the menu (thanks to our Uber driver for that recommendation). Every dish we had was amazing, and the service was great. Tried: KFC wings, garlic chili shrimp, grilled pork belly Loved: all the food we had. The sauces that came with the grilled pork belly made it so flavorful with all the side accompaniments The KFC wings were fantastic, and definitely the highlight. The garlic chili shrimp was also amazing, and reminded me of a better version of the Panda Express honey walnut shrimp with a spicy kick and not as much sugar Liked: it's easier to walk or Uber unless you come on a weeknight - otherwise street parking can be difficult

Yelp
Fun hipster atmosphere in the trendy Third Ward. Parking nearby, which was convenient. A somewhat limited menu but all the classic Korean favorites. Wonderful food all the way around. The scallion pancakes were very good (had the kimchi version, not seafood). Bulgogi and Galbi were great and portions were about right, not too much or too little. Bibimbap perhaps not completely authentic but great presentation and really tasty. Some interesting drinks, both American and Korean. Service was good, not great. And they didn't have any banchan other than kimchi. But overall great experience. Would go back and would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Stopped in for valentines this year since they were one of the few places serving a full menu. Food was terrific as always, Korean fusion had a soft spot in my heart before finding Char'd, but it's been taken to a whole new level lately. My fiancé and I love splitting a carafe of Soju as well, it's just the right amount to share. Service for such a busy holiday was excellent, and the mood was perfect. Their KFC wings hold a special place in my heart and I'd highly recommend starting there on your first visit.

Yelp
My husband and I celebrated his birthday with dinner here this year and it was an overall very nice experience, but the meal didn't live up to prior birthday dinners at Momo Mee, for example. I made reservations a few weeks in advance, though that probably wasn't necessary as the restaurant wasn't completely full when we arrived. We got seated right away and our waitress was very nice and got our orders swiftly. My husband got the Far East cocktail while I did the Yuzu Beez. We both enjoyed our drinks a lot. Mine was sweet and refreshing though got watered down kind of quickly. We started our meal with the shishito cauliflower and Togarashi fries. The cauliflower was amazing! Very flavorful and nicely cooked. The fries, in comparison, were a let down. For fries, they were good, but the Togarashi seasoning was a let down - there was almost no flavor to the fries and even the salt seemed lacking. It also doesn't come with any kind of dipping sauce, but our waitress brought over a gochujang sauce when we asked if they had any hot sauces. The fries do go well with the gochujang. For dinner, I got the tofu sweet glass noodles while my husband got the tofu bibimbap. We both thoroughly enjoyed the noodles, but in comparison were again disappointed with the bibimbap - everything was cooked well, but it just felt like it needed something more. They have one dessert option - the croiffle. We got this to celebrate my husband's birthday and the waitress even put a candle on it, which was a very sweet gesture. This dessert was a perfect ending! It was sweet, flaky, and warm and went SO nicely with the cookie dough ice cream on the side. Would highly recommend this! Overall it was a good dinner experience, but I'm not sure we're in a hurry to go back.

Yelp
I liked it here so much I came back two days in a row! I went on a Thursday night with my husband for dinner and the restaurant wasn't very busy but when I returned on Friday they had a good amount of business. The restaurant can be hard to find if you're not looking directly at it but the interior is really nicely designed with big floor to ceiling windows at the entrance and a bar on a lower level where you walk in. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations and I loved all of the food we tried. I had a couple different appetizers and tried a few people's meals and everything was so delicious. The menu is a sauce lovers dream and the flavors are so well crafted. The entrees come with several sides and we had plenty of leftovers to take home!

Yelp
I was very excited to try the spicy beef soup with glass noodles added along with the spicy chicken with veggies! Also added the japchae which overall the dishes were good but the kimchi wasn't my favorite and all three dishes lacked spice which really prevented the dishes from being great! I was expected to the soup to be hot but instead was just warm. I do have to say the quality of ingredients was high but just underwhelmed my taste buds compared to other Korean restaurants i have been to around milwaukee. I will have to give it one more shot for the beef bulgogi but wish I could have rated this place higher. Three dishes for 84$ after tax and tip split 3 ways= 28$ per person

Yelp
My fiance and I went to Char'd for lunch last weekend! We absolutely love Korean food, and this place was delicious!! Since it was lunch time, we didn't want to over order. We decided to order a few things from the appetizer part of the menu & shared. All of them were exceptional! Our two top highlights were the leeky chicken and the wings. The sauce on the wings was soooo good! Prepare to get a little messy, but it's completely worth it! The leeky chicken has really great onion flavor. The chicken has a nice light crunch to it and we liked the fried leeks and the pickled leeks underneath. We wished there was a little more picked leek though. The dumplings were really delicious too! The sauce on them was a little sweet and had just a little bit of heat. Our least favorite dish from the meal was the shishito cauliflower. By no means was it bad though! It is beautiful to look at and I liked the sesame sauce it also has. We just wanted there to be a little more salt and maybe more of a punch with some kind of flavor. We are very much looking forward to coming back to Char'd and having dinner there! I would highly recommend anyone coming to check out if you are looking for somewhere new to go!

Yelp
I was really excited to go here but was let down. The service was really slow and my fiancé got his meal about 10 minutes before mine, so his stone bowl rice hardened waiting for my food. I got the sweet/sour pork and it was sooo fatty. I had to keep chewing for quite a while and I did not finish this dish or take it home. The sauce was inauthentic as well. Also, they do not give anything for birthdays which was a bummer. On a positive note, it was a nice atmosphere.

Yelp
My friend and I randomly came across this spot on a girls night and loved the food, not so much the drinks. It was our first time trying soju, we got the yuzu one and didn't realize it was coming in a pitcher. We personally didn't like the taste but LOVED the bulgogi. I think our total was around $70-80. Wish there was more beef for the price

Yelp
This place has fantastic food and wonderfully attentive staff! Their vibe is low light, wood, and greenery. I highly recommend the glass noodles!

Yelp
Awesome service by a wonderful and professional server! Very knowledgeable and was suuuuuper patient with us (party of 5). I have never been to a Korean restaurant, but the food here was so good, I highly recommend the *Bibimbop Edamame Cauliflower Shrimp appetizer Fries and Stir Fry with the glass noodles (rice noodles)!!! This restaurant makes me want to try other Korean restaurants, hopefully they live up to this wonderful experience. Thank you Char'd!

Yelp
Great restaurant in downtown Milwaukee! Everything I've had here was really good! It's a great place to grab a drink at the bar or have a full meal in their dining room. Definitely recommend to others!

Yelp
Delicious food and great drinks! We had a blast attending our friends birthday dinner here. Was so excited to finally try it and boy Char'd did not disappoint. We ordered a few appetizers and shared some entrees. If your questioning which appetizers to get don't miss out on the dumplings and kimchi pancakes! Personally while liking the flavor of the glass noodles my texture pallet issues couldn't eat them- that's why no stars taken away because it isn't there fault I have issues with texture when it comes to food! I really enjoyed the braised pork belly! Large servings and came with three sauces, lettuce wraps and rice. The waitress we had was great! She helped us a bit with ordering and checked in on us frequent for extra drinks etc! Enjoy gin? (if you read more of my review you will start to see a pattern for cocktail preferences) Their Plum Collins was delicious! Well made gin cocktail! I also had their take on the Bees Knee which was also very good. Even if you don't normally drink gin though you'd enjoy the Plum Collins.

Geoff P.

Yelp
I'm not an expert on Korean BBQ, so this was a new experience for both me and my dining companions. The cocktail menu, while slim, had some very interesting takes on traditional cocktails that were remarkably good. The service was beyond excellent -- some of the best I have received in Milwaukee in a long time. The flavor profile and preparation of the food was all remarkably good. The crunchy rice on the Bulgogi plates was perfect, the proteins were well seasoned, and the piles of veggies were a welcome contrast to the protein preparations. My only ding on the food, and this is incredibly minor, is that they do not give you a very good sense of the size of the dishes. We all ordered appetizers and the stonepot bulgogis, and the bulgogis were absurdly huge! We could've easily skipped the appetizers, ordered two of the bulgogis for the three of us, and still had leftovers! Overall, a fun and enjoyable food experience, and I will definitely be back at some point.

Yelp
I live in the neighborhood and have been meaning to try this spot for a while. I recently went with a friend who recommended it and everything was incredible. We started with the KFC wings and they were so good and a large portion size. We also got the leeky chicken to start, which was SO unexpected and good. Tangy, sweet, bright - a very unique flavor pairing. And then we got the stonepot with spicy beef and it was giant - perfect for 2. Honestly we could've gotten 1 app and the stonepot and been full. But the stonepot was the main event and WOW. It had so many great flavors, crispy rice, great presentation, every ingredient was perfect. I would probably get it without jalapeños next time since the spice in other parts of the dish is enough for me. I would say everything was a comfortable 'medium' spice.
google avatar

Rahul G.

Yelp
Excellent food and bartender service. I would definitely visit this place again. Food is expensive but portions are large.
google avatar

Jerilyn A.

Yelp
My friend and I came to Char'd to celebrate her birthday. The place is cute and around 7pm on a Thursday it wasn't busy. We ordered dumplings (really yummy, didn't need the dipping sauce) and fries to share (reminded me of a McDonald's fry with some seasoning, I liked them). For our meal we shared the beef bulgogi and were both happy with it. The meat was really flavorful, and we were able to eat it with rice and lettuce wraps. I loved it with the lettuce wraps, it was a refreshing bite. I liked it here and would return to try more.

Yelp
I made a reservation and Went here for a date night with my wife an curious how this restaurant serves its K-Dish. Located in 3rd Ward District the restaurant is part of the historical registered building. The interior was renovated with warm and inviting colors modernized into a bit upscale setting. We can't tell it's a Korean restaurant on which we are accustomed too. Since the name Chard we're expecting also a KBBQ where you can cook your meat, like traditional KBBQ. At any rate my wife ordered Sondobo and BiBimbap and KFC . All the flavors are there for Korean Food and it taste Great as we expected to what we accustomed to Korean food. Only things that missed are the ban-chan . They don't serve on every dish on the menu. Only on selected Few. The food also took some time to came in. I understand what the Chef is trying to do on this restaurant however I would like to see this restaurant to be really homey that serves Korean comfort food without trying too hard.

Yelp
Visited Char'd for the first time on a Saturday night. Was able to put in dinner reservations a couple weeks in advance and was glad to do so because the venue was lively! My party of 2 had an earlier seating at 5:30 pm and we were shown our table immediately. I would describe char'd's menu as being a rustic American take on Korean-inspired classics. We weren't incredibly hungry so just got the seafood pancake to start and the Korean short ribs as a main entree to share. The pancake was fully of nice seafood chunks and had a very savory taste with a crispy exterior (solid 8.5/10). The short rib was precut for you which was nice (for sharing) and the flavor was very juicy & had great charring (9/10). The short ribs were served with fresh lettuce wraps and our waiter kindly gave us a lettuce refill when we ran out (no additional charge). Overall, the food and vibes were really good, always nice to see Korean food done right especially in the heart of Milwaukee!

Yelp
I went on a date here with my boyfriend. We got the Korean wings as an appetizer which were fantastic. Our entrees were mediocre. I got the pork bulgogi and he got the braised belly which both seemed pretty dry. Our waitress was very sweet. If we were to go back, we would both get something different for entrees.
google avatar

Margie T.

Yelp
Everything was really yummy!!! Staff was attentive. Inside could use more Korean design.
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
5 stars for the food, it was perfect and delicious just as I expected. 3 stars for the service. Our server was clearly overwhelmed with 2 large parties. I have compassion for that and she was very apologetic. The service in general was completely lacking. We sat down and were served appetizers without any plates or cutlery, it was a wait to get them. The bar forgot about/took a very long time making our drinks. My friend said his gin and tonic was almost all tonic. They served a glass of red wine in a champagne flute. There was clearly a massive communication breakdown between all the staff the night we went. There were plenty of staff floating around but no one was on the same page and it felt chaotic and messy. I do understand that rough nights happen, this one was particularly rough.
google avatar

David Z.

Yelp
A cold noon in February brought four of us into Char'd where very few people chose a similar time and place. Relatively new to Korean food, we each chose different entrees and shared a plate of dumplings and edamame. My Bibimbap was enjoyable, but the biggest surprise was the crispy rice at the bottom of the presentation created by intense heat on the cast iron frying pan that served as my plate. Loved it. Others also liked their choices, pork belly, chicken and stir-fry. Sterile ambiance, friendly server, large portions, interesting experience. .

Cloey K.

Yelp
I used to love char'd but sadly they changed the menu and took off my favorites items :(
google avatar

Phil G.

Yelp
Char'd disappointed after dining on magnificent Korean cuisine in NYC, Seattle, and Vancouver. The prices were west coast/east coast high, and the food should match the pricing. For Milwaukee, Char'd is an expensive restaurant. The highlights were the dumplings and the beef. Pancakes were greasy and sloppy, unlike how this Korean specialty is usually prepared. Rice dishes were unmemorable and slapped together without finesse. The kitchen created food that was assembly lined produced, fine for fast food, but Char'd charges gourmet prices. It wasn't good enough.

Lauren L.

Yelp
Service was slow with little to no communication. We found out from another table that it was a 1.5 hour wait after we ordered so there was no going back. We had to constantly ask the server for water. They were short staffed which was the only reason we had an unpleasant experience. The dumplings were good but the pork belly and the bulgogi weren't amazing. Cute place just needs to be staffed.
google avatar

Evan O.

Yelp
We went on a Sunday night for our wedding anniversary. It was packed! They only had 2 cooks working and warned us there would be a wait. They offered a drink special, but were out of said drink so that was a disappointment. Our food ultimately took 45 minutes. The braised ribs had good spicy flavor, but were clearly sitting in a slow cooker for too long and were that odd mixture of tender, but overcooked. We would give this restaurant a second chance though.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
We tried Char'd for the first time this week and were absolutely blown away! Our dishes were appropriately spicy and flavorful and the portions were more than enough. The ambiance was cozy and romantic and the service was expedient. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Laura T.

Yelp
The Char'd dumplings were amazing. Both entrees were hot (temperature), of excellent quality and very tasty! Service was impeccable- there when you needed it and not hovering. Decor and seating are tasteful and comfortable. I'd recommend making reservations for your party of two or more today! I wish I'd taken pictures of the food - next time I will. Also enjoyed a different cuisine for the holidays. It's a refreshing change

Yelp
Wow wow wow! After months of searching we have finally found our new favorite upscale dinner spot in Milwaukee: Char'd! First of all, get a reservation on Open Table beforehand! This is a guaranteed way to secure your spot AND it helps the restaurant plan for your visit. Win-win! Second, the menu is amazing! So many delicious cocktails, wines, and beers. My husband loved his Foggy Geezer IPA and I loved my Plum Collins cocktail. They were perfect. Third, the food was DIVINE!!!! We were on a flavor rollercoaster of joy from start to finish. To start, we ordered the Char'd dumplings and Leeky Chicken. Both were FANTASTIC! The dumplings were delightfully flavorful and crispy! The Leeky Chicken was amazing: sweet, spicy, and sour. They were also crispy with a delicious Asian slaw. I could have had the leeky chicken for my entire meal and been happy! For our entrees, my husband got the Spicy chicken and I got the kimchi beef Fried rice. We were both overjoyed with our choices. Connor's food was sooo good, plus it came with amazing sides of rice, lettuce leaves, and three side sauces. And epic flavorful delight! I got the kimchi beef fried rice and it was so good! I love kimchi beef fried rice because they are usually deliciously uniform. How're ever, Char'd did an amazing twist on the dish with crispy rice straws and a mor savory/ginger forward sauce: I LOVED IT!!!!! I was actually happy to find that I was too full to finish so that I can have leftovers to enjoy in the future! Fourth, the server was wonderfully helpful, kind, and professional. We felt very well taken care of, but not smothered with attention. This is a hard balance, but our server was expert. Thank you! Finally, the space is chic, welcoming, and clean. And prices are very complimentary to the high quality food/portion sizes you receive! All this today: we loved our experience at Char'd. It far exceeded our expectations. We cannot wait to return and it has definitely earned its way onto our regular rotation for visits from Chicago. Thanks for a fantastic dining experience, Char'd! See you next time!

Yelp
Made an early rez so we could get some food before the Bucks game. We were seated immediately and got bevies quickly. I like the vibe of the place! The food? Well.... It was OK. The pork belly was not as tendered as I'd prefer. I liked that they provided lettuce to make wraps and all the little sauces and side dishes allows you to choose your own adventure.

Yelp
I've been to char'd many times, and they never disappoint! Aside from the food always being amazing, the staff is consistently personable and holds great conversations. We got the kimchi scallion pancake, soft tofu stew, spicy squid, and the mushroom bibimbap. -The kimchi scallion pancake was fried to perfection. My only complaint was that I wish there was more than just four pieces. It disappeared from our table too fast. -The Spicy squid came with lettuce and rice, which allowed us to wrap the dish into little bites with a little bit of everything in it. The staff was also very accommodating with us, as my friend did not eat meat, they were able to just give us the spicy squid with no pork. -The mushroom bibimbap was like every other bibimbap but with different variations of vegetables that blended well together. The sauce, however, wasn't as spicy as I would have preferred, but it was still great. -The soft tofu stew was great as well. The staff was very welcoming, understanding, and overall fun. Our waitress was cracking jokes and making the experience even more enjoyable. The vibes of the restaurant were very clean and relaxing. It's a very nice place to get together with friends or family after work or to catch up with people.

Yelp
This restaurant wants to be upscale Korean food but it's lacking in so many ways. The pros about this restaurant is obviously its location and that the indoor decor and ambience is nice. The good vibes stops there. The food is mediocre at best. It's giving overpriced, small portions, of basic Korean dishes / cuts of meat. My biggest issue is how the banchan is on a hot stone bowl. Like opting out would be amazing addition but the menu really does not show any indications that that is how it's served other than pictures in here. Korean food and like Asian cuisine is meant to be very much so family style and it seems like this restaurant is giving white washed filtered out American food with Korean seasonings. It's giving apple bees/blackbear diner but with Korean cuts of meat/seasonings and def not the price point. Don't get me wrong the food is fine, it's cooked fine, the rice is fine, but for the price and how it's advertised I'm very disappointed at the presentation and flavor. It wants to be a restaurant like Saffron, but it's more mediocre than a mom and pop Korean restaurant. I would avoid if you're used to Korean restaurants, but with the lack of authentic flavors these Americanized Asian establishments fill the wants. Also I forgot to mention how they were basically out of some cuts of meat. Like how are you a restaurant that serves bbq and be out by 7/8pm.

Yelp
We dined at Char'd most recently on Valentine's Day but have visited many times before and have always been happy with the food. This visit we arrived early for our reservation so we started with a cocktail at the bar - we both decided to go with the PB&J Old Fashioned because we love OF's and this one sounded interesting. This drink would be really good if the ingredients were shaken and then poured over ice and topped with less soda but it was definitely still drinkable! Once we were seated at our table, we decided to share a mix of dishes. We ordered the Char'd Dumplings (always a favorite for us), the Leeky Chicken, the Shisito Cauliflower, the Garlic Chili Shrimp, and finally the Beef Bibimbop. Our favorite this time was the Leeky Chicken but all of the dishes were very good! Our server was attentive and providing helpful suggestions which is always appreciated. Overall, another great visit to Char'd!

Yelp
The owner was fantasic and even stopped by to say hi. The menu is phenomenal and the night was very busy. As a Celiac, I had to watch it carefully, but the bibimbap was delicious!

Yelp
Delish! Was a little slow even for a Monday night but worth the wait! Got the Mushroom Entree. The croifle is buttery and delicious!

Yelp
As a Korean, I find the food bland, meaning nothing special. To me, it is typical Korean food served on a large plate. I expected a bit more creative food for the class of the restaurant. I would not go there for typical Korean food for such prices.

Yelp
Most of the packaging was compostable. The effort to add less plastic to the pile is very awesome!! However, neither the food quality nor the portions balance the cost of the dishes - and our food was cold by the time we got it. Beef Bulgogi is $22 and the flavors were good , but the portion size was small and it was missing the vegetables listed. The scallion pancakes were very greasy and overly charred. The veggie bibimbop was lacking in flavor. When it was mixed with the beef bulgogi it was actually pretty good! The togarashi fries were tasty and moreish! *We ordered delivery through Postmates.

Yelp
This is not a traditional Korean restaurant. I usually love banchans the most when I go to a Korean spot and they don't have it. So- I was disappointed initially. But when my food arrived- it totally made up for it. Everything we ordered was on par with the best Korean food I have had. We specially loved the scallion pancake which was crispy and juicy at the same time, the braised pork belly was awesomely tender, tofu soup was extremely spicy yet flavorful. Bibimbap had a milder gojujang than usual and the bulgogi had a sweater after taste. All in all- I sure found a new Korean spot whenever I head to Milwaukee. Must try for Korean food lovers! I don't think it will disappoint.

Yelp
Food is dynamite, love the chicken wings with fries. The shrimp is also a favorite. This place never lets you down with delicious food and perfect flavor. Service is okay but definitely doesn't make a difference when food is so amazing.

Yelp
I laced an online order @ 6:13, site said "up to 30min." I showed up at 6:53 and was told by staff my order was "put in late" and would be ready in 10-15 minutes. I didn't walk out with a complete, correct order until 7:38 -- almost a full hour after it originally should have been ready. Staff was polite but barely acknowledged the ridiculous delay.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed eating the food here at Char'd. It was rich in flavors and completely delicious. My husband and I ate the Grill Pork Belly, Beef Bulgogi, & Shishito Cauliflower. All the dishes tasted amazing and seasoned very well. Will definitely eat here again when we come back to Milwaukee.

Yelp
Service was incredibly slow (45 minutes for appetizers) and left quite a bit to be desired. We had to cancel additional orders following the arrival of our appetizers, as the togarashi fries lacked salt and contained an unpleasant amount of oil. The "KFC" chicken wings were tasty, but I am unsure what made them Korean. They did not taste like any Korean-style chicken wings I have ever had; they had minimal fry coating and had a sauce that was rather runny. I arrived with the intention of having galbi, but we were told that they had just sold the last one (barely 3 hours post-opening on a Sunday, and they are out?). Between lackluster service, unprofessional and loud kitchen conversations, and poor inventory management, what was meant to be a pleasant night out turned out to be a complete waste. Coming from the Chicagoland area, this restaurant fell flat on so many levels; there was nothing authentic here, the service was abysmal, and the prices shocked even Illinoisans. Please, consider other amazing restaurants nearby.

Yelp
Update: Allergy friendly-I have have returned multiple times and this place gets better and better. One of the parties has a few food allergies and Char'd now has a list of their allergens by menu item (see photos). I also got to try some new dishes and drinks. Service is always great and nobody rushes you.

Yelp
Can't believe I hadn't been here sooner. Absolutely fantastic meal celebrating a birthday. Will have to try a couple new things because I am sure there is no way to go wrong. Unfortunately forgot to take pictures so look online but it's a very comfortable spot to be.

Yelp
Wow! The food here was amazing and the service was great. I arrived last minute due to a friend coming in town and her flight arriving late, we were about 45 minutes until they closed. They warned us when the kitchen closed and if we wanted food to do it timely and we appreciated it that. A great restaurant that I really recommend to try if you're in third ward.
