Where to Eat and Drink Near Your Dentsu Aegis Office | Eater

"This hole-in-the-wall Pakistani restaurant in Culver City isn’t winning any decor awards, but that’s not the point — the spread of dishes from Pakistan and India at a modest price is. Its namesake, whole marinated chargha chicken cooked in a tandoori oven, is a specialty, but there’s plenty more: roghni naan, a mixed grill plate, lamb biryani, vegetarian dishes, and a mango lassi to cool your mouth from the inevitable heat." - Vox Creative

Good family owned restaurant. Amazing and freshly cooked food and excellent service. We were greeted / assisted by Mr. Zain today and he was very welcoming, humble and kind enough while explaining the menu to us since it was our first visit. (but definitely not the last) We ordered: Chicken Karahi 10/10 (Balanced spices and flavor) Tadka Daal / Yellow Split Lentils 10/10 (Thick textured Pakistani Dhaba Style Daal) Chicken Seekh Kabab 7/10 (The chicken quality was extremely good and tender but Kabab has less flavor) Garlic Naan and Pain Naan 10/10 (Think and buttery textured freshly cooked naan)

Ordered Beef Biriyani. Waited to 30 minutes for food to be ready. And this is what came out..... White rice underneath, beef curry in middle and white rice in top. Beef curry is even kinda sour(meaning it might not be made today or even yesterday). I'm from Dhaka a place popular for all kinds of biriyani...but I've never seen this sorry excuse for biriyani. Should have listened to the reviews before ordering this almost 22$ worth of sorry excuse. Any other restaurants will do way better.

Google
This is the best grilled chicken I’ve come across in years. I don’t see why they don’t have a higher rating. The food here is fresh and delicious. I’ve had their combo plates, biryani, veggies and meat dishes. All excellent. I will always support!

Google
We were visiting the area and found this great desi restaurant This place offers authentic food and flavors and spices are made for perfection Service is great and the person working there explained us many dishes and how they were made. Chicken chargha was delicious and they have fantastic tea

Google
Ever heard of a Biryani Scam? I hadn’t either until I got my Biryani delivered from this place; as you can see in the picture, it’s just white rice topped with chicken curry, with a little white rice on top again, they didn’t even bother to mix it together. What a disgrace and dishonesty to call this a Biryani. I called the restaurant in disbelief as I thought maybe they gave me the wrong order. The guy tried explaining (without listening to me and speaking over me) how this is what people like to eat and the actual Biryani is only made at weekends. Never experienced such a scam anywhere in the US or the world. The dish is absolutely tasteless, NOT a biryani and I feel very bad throwing away food. The most disappointing part is the deceit though. Do not support this business!

Google
I Do Not recommend this!! We ordered Maghaz Nihari and Chicken Seekh Kabob, but they served us the regular Nihari and ground chicken kabob instead. They never even bothered to ask us before switching our order. Nihari was days old and smelled bad. 🤮🤮🤮 The manager was rude and disrespectful. If you want to eat clean, fresh, and healthy, and get treated well; this is not the place.

Google
Got yellow curry 12/23/24 it was surprisingly tasty! update: Went again, on 31st of April this time I ordered cauliflower and it was as tasty as the yellow curry on my previous visit! Keep up the good cooking.

Google
Food was horrible the chapli kabab were so crispy and there was no meat in eat and it slight pakora taste as if it was fried in the same oil and i don’t even want to get started with the chicken chargha.

Yelp
Chargha House is so good! It's always packed--and for good reason. The Pakistani food here is full of flavor, freshly made, and consistently delicious. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty meal or quick comfort food, this place delivers. The ambiance is casual and relaxed, making it perfect for everyday dining. The staff is friendly and attentive, which adds to the overall great experience. Definitely one of the top spots in LA for authentic Pakistani cuisine.

Yelp
The food was good, fresh and came out on time. Loved the chargha chicken and the other dishes we ordered. The bad part was the lack of friendliness and hospitality as they label themselves a family restaurant. One of the servers/host was on their social media the entire time and you can tell by their inattentiveness and goofing around with the other employees. Lack of friendliness when taking our orders by way of sighing and hurried facial expression. But overall I would go back for the food if in the area. It's a fast casual place so for what it is; solid place to try Indian/Pakistani food.

Yelp
Brit expat here, so I do have 42 years of experience eating curries, the last 20 of which were in the USA, so I was sober. This is my absolute favorite place in LA for curry. Every meal exceeds the expectations of my friends when I bring it over as Take out. It's freshly prepared, tastes wonderful with the right contrast of spicy against aromatic. Added to that, the proprietor is super friendly and generous. Yesterday I forgot to add rice to my order, and he added it free of charge, as a gift from Pakistan! I couldn't recommend more highly. Lovely people.

Yelp
Get the chicken chargha. It's a must for me every time I come here. Spicy and tasty! I order plain naan to eat it with. Chicken biryani was underwhelming, not much spice or flavor. I'd skip this one. Beef seekh kabob was tasty! I also like to eat this with naan and dip it in the chutney. Gotta have Orange Fanta to wash the food down with. It reminds me of the motherland. For dessert get some kulfi which is like a creamy ice cream. Very rich. Pistachio is my fave flavor. Tasty and authentic Pakistani food. Delicious. I always order ahead before pick up and have to wait some more while I get there. I feel like they don't start working on the order until I get there and tell them I'm there for said order. I've never dined in but there are plenty of tables to sit at.

Yelp
Ambiance: it's a small family style restaurant, limited seats inside, good for takeout orders Service: terrible experience, if you don't speak their language, expect very different treatment, our table wasn't served any water until asked three times, but their own people got served water immediately at the moment when they got seated, let alone super slow and forgetful, first dish wasn't served until 40 minutes after placing the order, and the bill came before all dishes were served, apparently they forgot to two items from the order but still charged Food & Drink: numerous items to choose for chicken, beef, lamb and seafood dishes Chargha Chicken - **** Half or Whole chicken marinated with their special ingrediant and BBQ special desi style in tandoori oven, spicy and tasty, recommend Chicken Biryani - *** weekend special DUM biryani is with bone, spicy rice Naan - **** Flat leavened bread freshly baked in oven, recommend Mango Lassi - ** Mango based sweet yogurt drink, not fresh Price: large portions, affordable prices and decent quality, expect $20 per person for a fulfilling meal

Yelp
The charga chicken was not fresh, smelled and tasted a bit rotten. When I told the server he just said that this will not happen next time. Absolutely disgusting to serve that trash to paying customers. I also ordered nihari and that tasted like pre packaged ready to eat stuff. I will not be going there again and neither do I recommend anyone else. All I wanted was to taste authentic food but I got scammed outta of 100 dollars.

Dascking S.

Yelp
Food not fresh at all, service meh, and place/ambiance just ok. Not coming again fs I rather not eat

Sabith A.

Yelp
The food straight up was bad. I wish I have never eaten this very bad. All I got was 4 food. It costed $90. The food was the most worst the beef was soo bland almost no seasoning filled with chili flakes for no reason food was spicy but bs. If you eat here you will get scammed I got the $25 chicken all chicken pieces were bones and barely and meat so less meat all you could see was the bones the food was made carnation chicken. The taste was soo bad. $25 no breat meat don't eat here. The bathroom was unclean as well as the tables. Employee were decent. Eating here was like a punishment.

Yelp
Although this was takeout, now I truly want to return and dine here since it's 100% traditional Indian food. Service was very quick and food was fantastic! Bon appétit!

Yelp
Bit too spicy for me but excellent food and service ! I ALWAYS have to ask for yougurt so I can neutralize the spices . The whole staff is very friendly including Zain !

Pardis R.

Yelp
we ordered beef karai and all we got was a bowl of curry with 4 tiny pieces or beef, I thought it was a joke and we had to pay for bread extra $6. So about $23 for a bowl of liquid curry and 4 pieces of bread. We also ordered half a chicken and it looked like it was a quarter! Very disappointed! The food is also just Ok! This palace was better in a past but right now it's just a rip

Hyder H.

Yelp
The best food in Los Angeles. Excellent service, clean n very friendly people, I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Shagufta K.

Yelp
Tasty food and great rates. Nihari, chargha, haleem few of our favorites. Ali bhai the owner is always so welcoming!

Yelp
Delicious Pakistani halal food, chargha is my fav. Service is outstanding and ambiance hike in the wall. I highly recommend.

Yelp
This is a hole-in-the-wall place with friendly people and great staff. The Chargha Chicken and the Chicken Kadai are the best items here. The biryani was not to my liking, but the green chutney is awesome.

Yelp
Great food for years. Always consistent and fresh. Family owned restaurant and feels like home cooked food.

Yelp
LOVE THE FOOD HERE! The chicken tikka masala and beef kabobs are AMAZING!! My wife and I drive from the Downey area to Culver City whenever we crave their food. The owner is really nice as well!! Always great service when we go here. The spice level is ON POINT!! Pro tip: get the garlic naan
google avatar

Yelp
I don't understand how anyone cannot give this Pakistani restaurant 5 stars. The food is authentic, home-made, and reasonably priced for large portions. Everything I've tried has been absolutely delicious. The ownership is SO NICE and inviting. I love that we have a family restaurant that has brought it's recipes to the community.

Yelp
I went today for lunch with my wife. They did not have any outdoor seating, so we decided to take the food to go. We ordered the following: - Meat Samosa -- 2 stars - A bit mushy - Chicken Tikka Masala - 3 stars - Chicken Karahi - 4 stars - Rice - 4 stars - They give you a very large amount for $4.99 - Onion Naan - 4 stars - Lots of onions (which I love). My wife thought it a bit dry. I dipped it in the lovely Karahi sauce. The bill for all this was $46, including tax. The two of us ate less than half of the food. We'll have some good leftovers. A few people have mentioned that the food was oily. I have to agree that the Chicken Karahi was oily. I used a spoon to take some out, and then had no problem enjoying the dish. It was very flavorful and a little spicy. I would definitely go back.

Yelp
It's been a long time since we stopped by. We were in the area and we decided to have dinner. We ordered the Nihari. And chicken tikka masala. Then Nihari was absolutely amazing. We forgot how good it was. We will definitely be coming back for it. Young kids, working the store are hard-working and trying their best to keep up with the people Definitely recommend this place. It is a hole in the wall but definitely worth stopping by.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place A few months ago, my roommate and I walked past this restaurant while buying supplies at the party store next door The place looked popping and the aromatics smelled good enough to put it on our list of places to try Fast forward to yesterday, after spending 8 hours at the beach, my roommate and I came in to try this place We ordered the following: -veggie samosa: smaller than anticipated, good flavor -plain yogurt side -half charga chicken: these were spicy but mostly bones. Portions are chicken wings and not a half chicken like expected -paneer tikka masala: really runny, not a lot of paneer -side order of rice -garlic naan -bindi masala okra was good but it was very oily Unfortunately the food disappointed and we left displeased Wont be coming back

Yelp
Fantastic food, I don't have much exposure to Pakistani food but would recommend the chicken kahari! Didn't take a picture because I inhaled it, slightly spicy and ginger pieces on top. Call in advance though because it took about 40 min to make chicken biryani and chicken kahari. Food was delicious so keep that in mind when you order.

Colette F.

Yelp
The food at Chargha House is delicious, every dish is perfectly seasoned and tastes like homemade gourmet.

Kelly M.

Yelp
Love this place! We always the whole chargha chicken, saag aloo and chicken keema mutter aloo! Love the mint sauce.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
I've never eaten at this restaurant, but I've ordered delivery twice and therefore feel qualified to say THIS PLACE RULES. $5 for a massive contained of fluffy basmati rice? Paneer tikka masala with a legit kick of the runny nose inducing variety? Flavorful saag paneer and aloo sag that are both hearty and not overly heavy? Yes, please. Give it all to me, baby. I've lamented for at least two decades that Indian places in LA seem averse to buttering their naan, and this restaurant is no different, but a naan is a naan, after all, and dry naan is preferable to no naan at all. If you're on the west side, you should definitely try this place. The food is great!

Yelp
I'll start off by saying that their name says exactly what their best dish is... the Chargha. Beyond that... the expectations should be kept low. We ordered their Chargha one night take out and it was really good so we thought man if this is that good then we have to go there to eat in person!!! (Not a good idea) We ordered Chicken Makhni (Weak & Generic) Beef Seekh (Flavorless) Chappali Kabob? ( Tasted like shammi kabob but looked like chappali kabob so a bit confusing) Samosas (Basic tortillas with potatoe inside, no real authenticity at all) Then we ordered the "Marinated Chicken pieces" in bbq? The guy brings out ground chicken seekh... I tried explaining to him that this is not whats on their menu so he said he would take it back but he hates to waste it so he will give it to us to go.... Like ok? Then he brings out something thats a mix between soup meat and grilled chicken... says this is their version of tandoori marinated chicken? At this point I'm pretty upset as my family waits for what they ordered while the rest of the food is getting cold.... Well that was literally the nastiest flavored chicken ever and to top it off he charged me 16 bucks for the pleasure. At this point I felt bad for my family so I told them we would pay the bill and leave. I go up to the counter and he charges me for everything including the "NOT" marinated boneless chicken pieces that was told to be boneless marinated chicken pieces.... Plus he now wants to charge me for 2 orders of the original ground chicken he tried to pass as tandoori. I told him I didnt want to take it home as no one would eat it. The guy insisted I take it as it would go to waste. I'm like listen... I am not paying for your mistake. He says well it wasn't on the menu so yes perhaps maybe it was a tad bit their fault but he kept trying to get me to pay for his mistake... then he finally relented and removed the charge so I ended up paying for the useless chicken ( which we left at the table) and the rest of what we ordered... 90 bucks to leave with an empty feeling both in my stomach and my wallet. To be quite honest they should simply stick to selling their Chargha and put everything else away as its literally tasteless and their customer service is just simply comical. Won't be returning not even for their Chargha at this point.

Faria K.

Yelp
I came to Chargha House during a short trip to LA, and having the chargha made me feel like I was eating at home in Islamabad again. The chargha was beautifully cooked, moist and wonderfully flavored, and for anyone who is looking for genuinely Pakistani food, this is the place for you. The throwback to home was so powerful that I came back to the restaurant the day I was leaving but the restaurant was closed because it was a holiday :'). I loved the place and would definitely come back if I have the chance!

Riaz N.

Yelp
We ordered chicken karahi and naans to go and asked the owner for very mild. Took the food home, karahi was very spicy and naans were burned. No one could eat. We took it back next day to talk to the owner. He was very rude and told me to order my food from DENNYS . We will never go back to this restaurant. No respect for customers
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
This place is FIRE. Food was delicious, prices are right, staff is very friendly and kind. I got the chicken choley, rice, and garlic naan. Amazing, come check this place out!
google avatar

Yesmeen K.

Yelp
Love the chicken charga! Can't wait to go back to LA for this very friendly service. Thank you

Yelp
My absolute favorite restaurant in Culver! Owner is super nice and food is always delicious
google avatar

Umme S.

Yelp
Great food and good service. Their food is amazing would go back again. There nahari was great and there kabab was great also
google avatar

Vstunna X.

Yelp
Very very spicy - I needed to ask for mild I guess. Unfortunately not the Indian food I was expecting. They forgot a dish & had us wait for it to be made, so unprofessional service. Not it ...
google avatar

Kay S.

Yelp
Food is good, portions are good, but if they are busy they can skimp on portions on your togo order. Always have to ask for condiments (small portions). Owners is nice.
google avatar

Mummy's Happy Hour S.

Yelp
I just came here with my husband who is African, it's his first time having Indian cuisine and he said he is very impressed with the complex flavors and said that it is possibly better than most African dishes. We had lamb karahi, lamb Rogan Josh, some naan and mango lassis :)
google avatar

Liz A.

Yelp
I just tried this restaurant for the first time and got delivery and OH MY NAAN! It's delicious! They give you really good portions and you know when you're having those days where you want delicious comfort food that hits the spot? This is it! The chicken tikka massala is delicious and has a little spice to it but perfect. The garlic naan I wish I got more! They're good portions too but so addicting! Treated myself to some dessert and got the rice pudding and oh boy....I want more! Would I recommend this restaurant?! Absolutely!!!! New favorite spot!
google avatar

Sehar A.

Yelp
Chargha House has without a doubt most authentic pakistani taste! They have the best chargha and roghni naan in town and i cannot recommend them Enough. Service is good and ambiance is just fine. If someone is looking for true Pakistani taste, then this place is the one!
google avatar

Nivard L.

Yelp
Home made dish feels! I recommend the lamb shank and Masalas are good, but everything is a must try!
google avatar

Pammy N.

Yelp
Delicious and flavorful. Amazing staff as well! Would recommend this place to anyone craving for Pakistani Halal dish

Namgyal K.

Yelp
Chargha chicken and dum chicken biryani is good. Beef biryani looks like a rice covered with beef curry, and covered again with another layer of rice, not my liking. Reasonably priced!
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
Ordered via postmates. This is the 5th time this has happened ordering from here . I got burnt Charga literally black and dry chicken pieces can't chew . Had to throw whole dish away $25 wasted . Next I specially ordered chicken dum biryani which is Friday and weekend special paid $15 but instead got plain boiled rice with chicken curry mixed in this is not biryani, if it wasn't ready they should have canceled the order and given me a refund instead of sending me something I didn't order. Like I said this is not the first time I have suffered disappointment with this Resturant it's the 5th now I have learnt my lesson I will not order from here ever again .
google avatar

Jay A.

Yelp
One of the best places for authentic Pakistani food in SoCal. Their Chiken Chargha, Chiken Karahi/ Balti chiken and Roghni naans are highly recommended.
google avatar

Matthew C.

Yelp
Got: Chicken biriyani ($10), Naan (2 pieces for $2) Price: $12 for everything, economical prices Value: 10/10. Large portions, very worth it. Filling and tasty without being overwhelming. Large chunks of bone in seasoned dark meat chicken in the rice

Almas A.

Yelp
Just started working in the area and was looking for something authentic and tasty. I came across Charts House and let me tell you , it is as authentic as it gets. The chicken biryani was 8/10 and the portion size, enough for two people. The chicken samosas were good. 6/10. Tasty , but they might've been frozen and store bought because they were flatter than a pancake. Came with a cilantro chutney. Also great. I recommend for sure
google avatar

Junaid R.

Yelp
Came here for my sister's post-grad school lunch with about 15 people. The food is really what makes this place happen. We were super hungry, so ordered food for probably about 30, but honestly having left overs was the least of my regrets. This is authentic, Indian and Pakistani food, and probably the best in LA. Service was on top of the world, they really know how to make it happen.
google avatar

Mubaraka M.

Yelp
Amazing food- highly suggest the paya and tandoori chickens. The nihaari is fantastic -
google avatar

Alan D.

Yelp
If you like spicy.....get the Charga chicken (#8) and an order of the dahl with grilled onions on top (#38) and of course, some garlic nam. A little pricey but worth it. Obsessed! I'm going to try the tandoori chicken (#4) and the shrimp & garlic ginger (#44) one of these days.
google avatar

Rehan B.

Yelp
Our evening started with a bad customer service experience with an employee (Aman) but the rest of the evening and food was awesome due to the owner (Qamar Ali). Just because my family and I we're catching up late that evening for dinner, he (Ali) was kind enough to keep the restaurant open late hours so that we can sit comfortably and enjoy our visit and meal. I would highly recommend this place and food for an amazing flavor and experience.
google avatar

Felix N.

Yelp
Amazing food with kind hospitality. The environment was clean and good for sharing food over the table with friends. Will be returning soon to try the rest of the items.
