Charlie's Still on Main

First time stopping into this restaurant from recommendations by other family members. Just the other side of Milford for us so not too far. I got to have the Still Chicken Sandwich and seasoned fries which was very good! Other family members picked out mac and cheese, steak, salad and it all looked delicious. Our servers Alicia and Sydney were both courteous and attentive while also not being overbearing during the meal. This place has a huge selection of whiskey and features a lot of historical barn wood integration for its fixtures and tables. Very nice restaurant!

My Wife and I just finished up a week-long “staycation” and we visited Charlie’s twice. In the last year I’ve grown to appreciate whiskey - and Charlie’s delivers on that. Their selection is enormous. Over 400 pours I think? Bourbon, rye, scotch, Japanese, Canadian, and Irish whiskeys. And the pricing is extremely fair. Their “flight of the week” is tremendous value. During my recent visit it was a mix of Green River and Bardstown whiskeys. I also enjoyed a pour of Russell’s Reserve 15. In addition to the whiskey, the food was incredible. The southern fried chicken and mashed potatoes, just wow. The walleye breading is incredible. The catfish bites are the best I’ve ever had. Their kitchen has yet to let me down. Our servers have always been excellent. They are prompt and knowledgeable, and check in just often enough. Lastly, I’m not a huge live music guy, so I really appreciate the patio in the summer. It makes for a great evening in downtown Milford. I’m looking forward to becoming a regular patron here.

I had the western old fashioned and it was mixed perfectly. We had the fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs as appetizers and both were delicious. I had the walleye and my wife had the Nashville hot chicken. Both were delicious. Pros: phenomenal bourbon selection, delicious food, nice atmosphere. Cons: a bit loud, floor was dirty around our table (pieces of food, etc).

A great casual dining experience. Our first time here with nice live entertainment! Food was excellent I had the Walleye which was so fresh and prepared to perfection. My hubby had a braised pork Burgoo dish and said it was also delicious! Our wait staff Eva was very attentive. I would recommend this establishment without hesitation.

I recently tried the black bean burger and the cherry tarte with vanilla ice cream — both were worth it! The burger was hearty and flavorful. The patty held together well and wasn’t mushy, which I appreciate. I loved the toppings — and added Jalapeño a nice spicy sauce that added a kick. Toasted bun would have made it even better. It’s a great vegetarian option, though a bit more seasoning in the patty itself would have made it perfect. Cherry Tarte with Vanilla Ice Cream: This was the highlight! The tarte had a lovely balance of tart cherries and just enough sweetness. The crust was buttery and crisp, not soggy at all. Paired with the side of creamy vanilla ice cream, it was the perfect warm-and-cold combo to finish the meal. Overall, I’d happily order both again.

Very good experience. Adam was amazing, Tyler was also amazing. The nicest and most non chalent sever. Mya led us to the best seats. Ava brought out our food with ease. Tessa was chill. 10/10 experience Kyle Berry was nice per usual.

I decided to go here tonight to celebrate my birthday with my cousin. It’s my second time visiting, and I can’t say enough good things about this place. I had a great experience the first time and I was hoping tonight’s visit would be just as good. It was even better. This place so the real deal. The food is delicious (juicy burgers, fresh salads, the jambalaya is perfect). The only thing that could possibly rival their food would be their customer service. I specifically want to acknowledge Vampire and John for their attentiveness and hospitality. We also spoke with a very kind woman who stepped out of the kitchen just to confirm a few details about our orders. I had asked for a few modifications and my cousin has a gluten allergy. I always hate to ask for alterations, but they were super cool with it and really wanted to accommodate us. The ambience is beautiful, chill and fun. The amount of bottles on their wall are mesmerizing. Aside from all of that, we were able to enjoy great live music. The artist’s name was Jason, I can’t remember his last name, but he performs there regularly on Wednesday evenings. It didn’t hurt that they threw in some free dessert to help me celebrate the last year of my thirties! I moved to Michigan only eight months ago and I’ve found a few places that feel like home. Charlie (owner) was gracious and very pleasant. He greeted us as we came in. He gave all of us a complimentary cocktail ticket and told us our table number. What a very likable character. Just friendly and warm. We had a great time being able to be a part of the "Detroit City" bourbon tasting. All the Bourbons were chosen to be consumed with mouthwatering treats. The food tasting was specially designed to pair with the Bourbons that we were tasting. Two Faced, Butchers Cut, 10 Year Anniversary. They even brought out a special selection of bourbon "Toasted Barrel" at the very end, along with a special cream paczki. The meal was delicious. What a treat to be a part of this event. I'm hoping to be on the guest list again. Thank you, Charlie, his staff, and Master Distiller JP and his staff. Y'all are wonderful hosts. We'll have to come downtown, we have tickets!!

Super cool, casual vibe to Charlie Stills! Great indoor and outdoor seating. The place gets pretty busy and it is a fun and lively energy, filled with lots of people enjoying themselves! The bar is very nice with one of the biggest selections of bourbon and whiskey. If that's not your taste, they have lots of other libations with unique and classic mixers! We noticed how friendly the staff is! They are really welcoming, warm and they look like they are also having a nice time! They certainly added to our evening! The star of the show: the food! So many southern comfort classics with a modern twist. We tried the country fried steak with the best sausage gravy, smashed potatoes and grilled onion. Scrumptious! I had the shrimp po-boy with a ton of fries, very tasty. The appetizers started us off just right! We shared the corn fritters, the gravy fries and the deviled eggs. They were all presented well and very flavorful! We ended the evening with a sweet treat: the peach cobbler and lots of quality vanilla ice cream! What a winning pair! We looked at the brunch menu and we have to try that soon! This is just a great spot in Downtown Milford with parking!

Charming town/restaurant Great food! Friendly, attentive service (w/o being intrusive;) 3 of 4 of us ordered the amazing fried walleye. Great flavored breading--that & the filet cooked perfectly As a Walleye fan & SE Mich resident of most of my 76 years, this was the best I've tasted! Kudos to the chef on 9/9/25 Second visit for 2 of us--thx to the others who had introduced us in our previous visit;) We look forward to our next Only slight drawback--it was a bit noisy & this was a Tuesday afternoon. It made it hard to have a conversation for our annual Michigan get-together. Maybe noise absorption panels to walls or ceiling (?)

Best bourbon selection in the area hands down. The weekend brunch options are awesome. Though a bit heavy. I like the chicken and bread pudding and the cure. Overall I cannot recommend enough.

Very artsy southern bar & grill! We tried the pulled pork sandwich and smothered fried chicken. Both were delicious! The potatoes were a little cold with the chicken, but they still tasted good! We shared the peach cobbler for dessert! It could've had a little more crust, yet still tasty. The food came out quickly, and we thought the service was a tad slow. Great place in Milford overall!!

Friday 8/29/25 6 PM: Jambalaya was excellent...filet was tasty but just OK (had tough spots). Big issue was service: we sat at bar and bar tender was more interested in reliving his glory days with other bar patrons than taking our order (had to place order with barback). He never checked on our food, if we wanted a 2nd drink, etc. Found time to bring us take home box and bill.

So Charlies is perfect (well, it can be hard to get in because it is perfect and everyone wants to eat there). We usually sit at the bar if there is room, and love the comfy bar stools and the great service we get. The vibe of the place is so well thought out with great attention to detail. We've tried several things on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. My favs are the jambalaya, the Bayou Hunters Chicken, and the Pork Chop. My hubby raves about their ribs and swears they have the best Sangria in town. They also have live music, which is a major bonus. I highly recommend.

I usually score based on the 5 criteria to coincide with the five stars, but this one negative aspect affected the other to bring it down to three stars. I'll jump right in: service. Our waitress, let's call her Z, was great and nice and prompt......until after we got our food (which was excellent as always). She ghosted us completely. Never came to see how our food was, if we needed another drink or refills. Just gone. I knew where she was though. She was outside talking with someone that wasn't work related. I had to flag down a different waitress for boxes and the bill and I even told her our waitress disappeared on us. So needless to say, that experience brought the vibe down. Very unprofessional. I'll be honest I hesitated writing this review cause I don't like getting people in trouble...however, this is how they learn. There are consequences for actions and hopefully she can learn from this. Pending managements handling of it all.

We ordered the deviled eggs and catfish bites for appetizers AMAZING! For dinner we ordered jambalaya again amazing! Food came quickly and was hot. My only negative was we honestly could've shared our plates which isn't a bad thing We will definitely come back great place loves the ambience! Staff was beyond friendly!

Wow! 5 stars easily! This place was fantastic! We were recommended this place by a very nice employee at a store nearby. And we are so glad we stopped in! It's decorated like a still and it's very cute! We had the Mac on main, which was absolutely amazing. The mix of salty and sweet was right up my alley. My husband had the walleye, he said it was perfectly fried and seasoned We recommend getting the cornbread and asking for both of the hot honeys that they offer.

Had dinner with an old friend. We both really loved this place. The menu was fantastic. We opted for deviled eggs as an appetizer. Some of the best I've eaten at a restaurant. It's hard to mess them up, both most restaurants seem to find a way to these were served on pickle chips with bacon jam. My friend had the chicken and waffles. She really enjoyed it. The chicken was juicy and tender. It was a filling portion. I had the fillet and veggies. It was cooked perfectly. After seeing others enjoy their shrimp and grits, jambalaya and walleye, I'll be going back to try those dishes as well. We sat outdoors. It was a nice relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend.

We love this place! Been to Charlie's numerous times and never lets me down. My wife loves the salmon and has it every time we come. I had a filet with zip sauce tonight and it was a perfect medium rare, tender and delicious. There is one thing that I must have every time I go and it is the house salad with bourbon bacon ranch. The best salad dressing I have ever tasted. This place has great food, service is always good and the prices are not insane. I would highly recommend.

This place is amazing. The food is awesome and the employees are just as awesome. I enjoy the Salmon, Catfish bites, collard greens, and the House salad with the bacon ranch dressing. Summers there are the best with live music so get there early, and have a good time.

Yet to try this place but have heard good things! The cocktails were great and lots of unique options. We have a country fried chicken which the chicken was crunchy and gravy was delicious. Cornbread is a bit bland for me and mash too. My friend chicken sando was also great! The service was great and quick. Forgot to add the crab cakes were divine! Highly recommend that but I'll be back to try different items!

Just left Charlie's Still after an awesome late lunch with the Hubbs. We've been here a couple times before, and noticed there were many new additions to the menu, so we came out for another visit. The first time we stopped here we realized that it was very much a Bourbon/Whiskey-themed Southern-style place... The menu featured a lot of dishes we weren't necessarily familiar with-- shrimp & grits, fried green tomatoes, jambalaya, etc. There are TONS of new additions to the menu since we last visited, and everything looks incredible. From fresh seafood, BBQ, sandwiches, and steaks.... to bountiful salads, mac & cheese dishes, and decadent dessert choices, there is truly something for everyone here! I'm a salad girl, so I ordered the Harvest Salad, which was delectable-- I cleaned my plate! The roasted Michigan beets with goat cheese and Traverse City cherries... uggghhhhh! (lol) SO GOOD! My husband ordered a bowl of chili (which is enormous, by the way!) and the Southwestern Salad with grilled chicken. He loved both, as the chili tasted like it had been simmering all day and the salad was fresh with different levels of flavor throughout. All in all we had a great meal at the perfect time today. Coming in on a Friday afternoon before the dinner crowd rushes in is the best time to eat! The vibe here is cool, dark, historic....and it honestly doesn't feel like you're in downtown Milford. Charlie's Still has NULU/Butchertown energy (hip artsy/foodie districts in Louisville, Kentucky)... You'll never want to leave!

After a bike ride around Kensington on a beautiful spring day, we wanted a nice lunch at someplace outside in Milford. We came across Charlies and it met all of our needs. We were seated at a great table right along Main Street in a shade covered part of the outdoor seating area - it was perfect! The menu had a lot of great choices. We started with te Deviled Eggs. We always love these wherever we go, but these had the added benefit of caramelized onions with bacon jam - yum! We all decided to get salads - my wife and I had the Roasted Apple Salad and my daughter got the Watermelon and Feta Salad. The were all very fresh with a big portion size (almost too big) and tasted great. We also shared a side of fries and a side of mac and cheese and those were also very good. I would highly recommend this place the next time you're in Milford!

One of the best whiskey and bourbon selections in metro Detroit (further out). People are cool and this is 100 percent a bourbon bar vibe, which I dig. If you want to build your experience and education on bourbon - a must stop.

Everyone loved it!! Can you guys open up a restaurant in Grandville please? We were visiting family on the east side this weekend and we went there for dinner. We all loved our meals. And I definitely want to go back and will lobby to go there when we visit family again lol. I got the chicken and waffles and it was the best I ever had. Waffle was crispy, chicken was tender and crispy, and their maple bourbon syrup was tasty (has bourbon flavor but not overpowering). The service was fantastic just like you'd expect in a southern restaurant. Ambiance was nice. Definitely had a southern vibe inside. Expect to wait 30 minutes for a table around busy times (Friday and Saturday's) as there's no reservations.

We came for an exclusive event - Bourbon Women of Michigan, which was a 4 course meal with Bourbon tasting. So happy my wife signed us up for this... First course was a poached pear salad - amazing taste with the pecans, Michigan cherries and goat cheese. Paired with a Sonoma Chardonnay. Second course was the roasted butternut squash soup - super yummy with candied pecan, brown sugar and whisky cream. Paired with Slane Irish Whisky. Third course was a cola-glazed beef tenderloin with potatoe croquettes and glazed carrots - oh my! Paired with Jack Daniels #7 Select. And the fourth course was Dolce de Leche cheesecake with salted dark chocolate sauce. Paired with Old Forester Statesman. All kinds of bourbon tasting today - Charlies is built for that!!! We love this place and will continue to return. The ambiance, the fun atmosphere and the fantastic food makes this restaurant a real gem in Milford.

All around great food! Really enjoy the Nashville hot chicken sandwich! (It is hot!). They have a lot of great choices and a friendly staff.

Food 5*+. Ambiance 5*+ wait and bar staff 5*+ and Charlie, what can you say about the Man himself! He was our greeter, host and man of the hour. Everything ran perfectly and we will return year after year and all the days in between, I am sure!

Get the chicken sandwich also don't forget the mashed potatoes ASK for a side of the zip sauce it's 12/10!!! Atmosphere 12/10!! We love to sit at the bar!

First time here! There's a small parking lot to the left of the restaurant and a bigger lot in the back. There's also street parking. The restaurant was busy but we were seated right away outside. We ordered a burger and the walleye. Our food took awhile for it come out. My friend liked her burger and the walleye was good but fried two minutes too long. Same with the fries - a little dry. I would go back to try another entree though.

Always a great time here! The servers are vibrant and energetic. The food always has a ton of flavor and well seasoned fries. The cocktails are freshly made and are unique. It's a very lively spot.

Service was spot on by both of the bartenders. Although busy, they made 2 excellent old fashions , 1 smoked. And they were pleasant throughout my visit. Smothered Fried Chicken was an excellent choice with tender chicken covered but not drowned with a tasty chicken gravy . I asked for an additional side of gravy for the corn bread. Will return

Every time I am in there I have great service and amazing food! They have a great bourbon selection. I love stopping in when they have live music.

Excellent experience all around. Don't listen to the haters. You go ahead n let them lil' ol' haters hate, honey. Charlie's offers an impressively extensive list of bourbons and whiskeys. The bar is themed around owner Charlie's love for the Bluegrass State. Try everything, especially the Kentucky Derby Pie.

Stopped in this place for a cocktail while visiting Milford and ended up staying for lunch. My Down Town Abbi was delightful - tasty and got me tipsy off of one drink. My fried green tomato BLT was delicious, but the star was the side of colard greens w/ pork belly (sub'd for fries). So good! Top 5 collard greens of all time. My husband enjoyed his Nashville Hot Chicken Sammy, although he thought it might have been slightly tooooo hot. If we are ever in Milford again, we will definitely be return customers!

Corn fritters meh Watermelon salad underwhelming Macaroni solid Shrimp and grits underwhelming small shrimp, not a lot of flavor Corn bread was okay. Fried green tomatoes good.

I'm going back in two weeks for dinner with friends. Brunch was my trial run and I was a happy customer. The cocktails are priced reasonably. We did not have to season the food. I sampled everything pictured except for the salmon plate (fish allergy). I loved the Grit n Collared Skillet. We shared the chicken and waffles--chicken batter and crunch was on point. The waffle was soft and delightful. I ordered a Mezcal Mary and The Monica--both flavorful tequila drinks that I would order again. It's a commute to diner here, but it was worth the drive.

Four of us decided to leave our usual Brighton lunch spots to try something in Milford. This spot would be worth a return visit! Two of us got the Still Chicken sandwich and we could have split that. Another got the Nashville Chicken sandwich and he polished off the whole thing. Our last guest got the chile and it came with a hunk of yummy cornbread(that wasn't dried out!). The burgers that other guests were ordering looked good too. Today was Sunday and there were some breakfast items in the specials menu that sounded interesting. We needed to sit near the door because one of our guests has limited mobility, and it was cold there. Sit further in if you can.

Hubby and I visited here on a Saturday and we left very pleased with the entire experience. Charlie's has both indoor and outdoor seating (with heaters). We chose to eat indoors and we were seated and waited on right away. The atmosphere was very cool and the place was decorated for St Patrick's Day. We had a hard time deciding what we wanted to eat so we asked our waitress about popular items. Although we didn't order from her suggestions (lol), we were both pleased with our meals. Hubby had the country fried steak meal and I had chicken and waffles. The country fried steak meal was huge! We couldn't believe it when they brought it out. Hubby really enjoyed it. I also enjoyed my chicken and waffles. The large pieces of chicken were coated with a thick crunchy coating and the waffles had a crunch on the outside yet perfectly cooked on the inside. The homemade syrup was just perfect on top. Boy I could go for this right now! We really enjoyed our visit here and would definitely go back if we lived closer. One thing I'm not positive about is it parking. We lucked out and found a spot on the main street - which is metered on the week days. I'm not sure about a free parking lot.

The food; catfish appetizer, crab cakes and a Bloody Mary. The service was amazing. Autumn was on top of everything and did it with such enthusiasm. The owner came out to talk with us. That was so nice. The ambiance was was avant guar. We sat at the bar which had backlitshelves of liquor almost to the ceiling. Classy!! I forgot to take pictures. ‍

Great good. Best jambalaya I've had since moving from New Orleans, and I've enjoyed just about everything else on the menu at least once. Charlie is the consummate restauranteur - he knows his customers and what they want! He always seems to be on the floor, in the kitchen, or behind the magnificent bar, just making sure everything is running like clockwork! Try the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich - it's awesome.

Selected based on other Yelpers and we are ALL happy with our choices. Ribs, hamburger, shrimp and grits, chicken breast sandwich, jambalaya and fries were all great choices. Also one of the better mojitos I've had. Lauren our waitstaff also made sure our water and tea was topped off at all times. She was also professional, curious and cheerful. Great job!!! The musician was great. It was just a little louder then we would have preferred while trying to visit with those at our table. Not the singer, he was just right but overall noise was an issue prior to the singing.

We loved it, the food was fabulous, decent prices and very good portions! Maple Bourbon Salmon, Mac & Cheese, Smoked Cheddar Grits & Jambalaya were all delicious! Good Bourbon & Beer selection, service was excellent and the charming decor fit perfectly! So glad we found this place! Looking forward to going back and trying something else, it all looked incredibly delicious!

My updated review is here! The Nashville hot chicken is still hot hot hot. So hot so good. The chicken on the inside is juicy, you can still taste it after the nashville hot melts your face off. Fried green tomatoes were just. so. good. I got a few cocktails, that Carmel Apple Martini, yo, give me 4 and I'll take an uber home. I got a carryout of some kind of magical noodle wonderland food, they call it the Mac on Main. My son said he'd walk there for it. I haven't seen his eyes light up since precovid shut down stuff. Do yourself a favor and try out a carryout and a cocktail and one of the bourbons from the lengthy Lengthy LENGTHY dark water list. It will warm up your toes this winter. :D

Great service! Awesome selections of bourbon and cocktails galore! The food is amazing! We had the deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, Mac and cheese with pulled pork and brisket (I think the brisket or pulled pork is every once in a while). Normally I don't order mac and cheese from restaurants as homemade is always better but watching other people enjoy their Mac and cheese gave me the excitement to try it. Boy did my fears disappear after ONE BITE! It was creamy and full of cheese flavor, filling so definitely leftovers were brought home but so good that I ordered another Mac and cheese w/smoked meat TO GO! We also had the walleye fish and chips and it was so light and flaky. I also enjoyed that immensely and loved that they had other fish options beyond the standard cod or salmon. The salads (people around us) looked great too! Can't wait and try more of the menu out.

I have not been through downtown Milford in several years. Looking better than ever on a cold Wednesday night . Four of us met at Charlie's for after dinner, drinks, and a bite to eat. Surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night. Shared the fried green tomatoes and corn fritter appetizers, both delicious. Main courses were two orders of the baby back ribs, amazing sauce, meaty, bones, shrimps and grits and fried chicken sandwich. Also very tasty. Finished off with a peach, cobbler and ice cream, good way to end the meal. All in all , glad we stopped in at Charlie's

I don't even want to share this review because it's hard enough to get in now. This place has delicious food, great atmosphere inside and out. Milford is such a quaint little town with lots of unique shops. Their salmon is outstanding , salads are so healthy and fresh. They have a dressing that is like applesauce with a vinaigrette introduced. It's out of this world! I know many don't like deviled eggs but they place theirs on a pickle chip and served with sautéed onions and bacon. It's phenomenal! The decor inside is unique and clever. This place is a bourbon palace!!!! I have been there 3 times in 1 week. I want to try it all. Southern cooking at its finest.

I haven't tried the food yet but from what Ive heard it's super delicious, especially the Salmon. I will be trying it out soon. So far the bar experience has been refreshing and very comfortable. They have amazing comfy faux leather high back chairs that you can relax in. The bar is light up from underneath so all the bottles light up. Which gives a beautiful Ora at the center of the bar. I'm very picky and I think the decor was done with excellent taste; Not over the top and just right. I had the The Still Margarita and it was delicious. Seemed all naturally made and none of that fake syrup mixer stuff I don't like. Live music was also great! Not too loud and at a good distance from the bar. Wishing there was a little more of a dance floor but hopefully withey can make that happen later on in the night. The service was also perfect! Jen is super nice and always attentive. Looking forward to making this my go to spot in Milford!! Update- I finally had their fried chicken because I kept hearing how good it was on FB and OMG it did not disappoint! It was out of this world! I also had the deviled eggs which were yummy, especially because it came with this sweet onion jam with bacon. That was so tasty. Then I was craving the jam when I was eating my entree of fried chicken. Kinda wished it was also offered as part of the fried chicken and mash potato dish to help balance the salt. I assume the corn beard is for that but tbh it wasn't that sweet. Overall it was amazing and the portion was huge, so there will definitely leftovers if you order this or I recommend sharing with someone. Can't wait to try more of their dishes!!

Good food, good seevice, clean, good water, great bourbon selection! There realiy wasn't anything to not like! Try the corn fritters and chicken linguini dishes. Simply awesome. Don't forget dessert! Try the pecan pie with chocolate chips too!! Reasonable prices too!!

Excellent food and drinks. Salmon cooked perfectly and wonderful smashed potatoes. Chicken fried steak everything you would expect. Lots of bourbons to choose from. Fun decor and live music. Service not great. Waiter was slow, never checked on us and brought the salad with with entree. Didn't refill drinks or even ask.
