"Although the Flores family is best known for chimichangas at their iconic El Charro Cafe, their downtown steak restaurant steps it up with premium steaks and seafood. The restaurant’s signature lobster tamalada features a split lobster stuffed with masa and green and red salsas." - Jackie Tran

We went here to celebrate my daughter's UofA graduation. We wanted someplace memorable and nice, this fit both. The atmosphere and decor were Spanish influenced, but modern. Our server was very attentive and good. Most everything we tried was very good, just really, really expensive. The chips and salsa were very good, the ahi ceviche was excellent as were the steaks. Probably some of the best tasting steaks I've had at a restaurant in a long time. The "jumbo" shrimp I ordered with my steak were just large shrimp. All in all, it was a very nice dinner.

Place was hopping. Had to send back the 1st Porterhouse as it was medium well/well done, and was ordered medium rare. The 2nd one was great. The dessert was fantastic!

Incredible dinner at Charro Steak & Del Rey. Outstanding service from Rochelle. She was professional and made our experience very enjoyable. My husband and I started with oysters from Maine and Canada. I love how Charro has up to 4 rotational selections of oysters. Great innovation and experience for guests! Ahi Ceviche was good. I'd recommend cutting the ahi smaller for easier bite sizes. There were slightly too big. My husband was a gentleman to cut them smaller. Best cocktails to have is the El Maestro Cuco and Julian Drew's Silver Cadillac! Refreshing Margaritas! Last but not least, the steaks! I don't think I ever had the most delicious, perfectly cooked prime rib. Every bite was amazing. The bark was beautiful! I usually enjoy my steaks rare but for prime rib it is best as medium-rare and highly recommend! My husband's T-bone was like butter! Melts in your mouth and you are able to taste everything there is. Incredibly cooked! Enjoy our meals with charred, cream corn and roasted asparagus spears. Great pair! Charro serves all tables with beans and the Prime Rib includes green chile mashed potatoes. Overall experience at Charro was 10/10. Love the ambiance and good location in downtown Tucson.

Stopped by for dinner on a Thursday night based on a friend's recommendation. We had a great meal as well as great service. We were able to easily book a table for 6 online. You do have to put down your credit card to confirm your reservation and there is a fee if your headcount drops by more than 2 people or if you don't show up. We were running behind, but it was also easy to call and have them update our reservation. We ordered family style and got a great mix of seafood (ahi tuna ceviche, seafood tower, and a lobster tamalada), side dishes (brussel sprouts, cast iron mushrooms), and prime rib. Everything was delicious! With all the Seafood, it came out to approximately $110 per person, including tip. If I'm back in the area again, I would definitely come here again.

Best meal of my life period. Steaks cooked to perfection. Had the tucson T-bone. Wife had the prime rib. The desert and coffee were amazing. Service was top notch elite. Margaritas were perfect. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT 10/10. Can't wait to go back.

Great food. Family style sides, so if you don't bring the entire family, you'll end up bringing food home, like us. Had the boneless Ribye, Brussel Sprouts, House Potatoes, and side of Beans. Excellent! We purchased some awesome Salsa to go as well. Somewhat of a small area for seating. I would recommend reservations. We would definitely come back.

My basic rule at a restaurant is I always try to order something I haven’t had before. And I have never had a “lobster tamalada“ before. At Charro Steak & del Rey they start with a 2 1/2 pound Maine lobster, remove the meat from the body while leaving the tail and claws intact. Then roll the body meat in masa (corn meal) creating a dense tamale. Put that back in the body, bake it and serve it with red and green Christmas style sauce. This was epic, the company was damn fine too. We are at the #AFPAZ25 State Conference hosted by AFP Southern Arizona in Tucson.

We came here for my birthday dinner. I was with a friend from Minneapolis and she wanted to go someplace nice. We were so glad we decided to come here. The peach sangria and cocktails were delicious and perfectly made, and our dinner was superb. I had the Carne Asada with shrimp added, and we shared a side of mashed potatoes. They gave me a chocolate lava cake as a complimentary birthday dessert. The whole meal was delicious, and I have to say the steak was one of the best I’ve ever had. It’s definitely worth the visit!
