The 24 Best Restaurants In Madrid - Madrid - The Infatuation

"Sometimes, you just need a big hunk of meat. Charrúa, a dark, sexy restaurant in Justicia, comes to the rescue, roasting it on an open-flame grill. Named after an Uruguayan tribe, this spot will fill that carnal craving for steak, but in an exclusive, romantic space—you’ll need to push aside a velvet curtain to enter. The candlelit benches in front of the grill are the best spots for curious diners who want to watch chefs char waygu chorizo, certified Iberian beef tenderloin, or Galician chuletón (yes, you can get grilled vegetables too, but the meat is the highlight). Reserve well in advance as this place is popular with trendy locals who don’t mind dropping €10 on a glass of red." - lori zaino

Charrúa - Review - Salamanca - Madrid - The Infatuation

"Charrúa cooks most things on an open flame, and almost everything here - from the many cuts of beef to the vegetable sides - comes out perfectly charred. The comfortable space makes you feel like you’re on a ranch in the Spanish countryside, even though you’re right in the middle of the city." - Cristina Shipe

We really loved our recent visit to Charrúa. This is such a unique restaurant. The setting , the aromas and the restaurants itself is amazing. The food was so tasty. The atmosphere is quiet and sophisticated. The wine was so good. Very good value for money. Would definitely visit again.

I had a fantastic experience at Charrúa, and from the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the ambiance. The lighting was absolutely beautiful, with candles creating a warm and intimate atmosphere. The decor was stylish yet cozy, making it the perfect place for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. The service was excellent, attentive, professional, and welcoming. They offer a wide variety of options, and what makes this place even more special is the open kitchen, where you can actually see the meat being grilled in the oven. Watching the process added a unique touch to the dining experience. If you’re looking for great food, a cozy ambiance, and top-notch service, Charrúa is definitely worth visiting. I will be coming back for sure!

Amazing food and ambience - couldn’t recommend more. It is disappointing that you are charged for appetisers given the kind of restaurant it is. We were also charged for tap water, however the restaurant rectified this mistake straight away by calling me and refunding. Very professional and welcoming service.

Very good steak restaurant with superb meat quality and good service. The wine pairing recommendation was very good and the entire experience worth the wait / visit / price.

We got very lucky getting here without any reservations for three people, but it was so worth it. The server was very knowledgeable and we ordered wine, gin and tonic, bunch of grilled vegetables and Spanish aged steak. We ordered rare, which we never do, but it was the best decision since it melted in our mouth. The best part was grilled leek and onion.

Google
I had high expectations for Charrúa, especially since the main draw is the meat. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed — the steak was far too undercooked, even knowing that Spanish preferences lean toward rare. It crossed the line from rare to almost raw. That said, the atmosphere is cozy and the staff were quick and friendly. The whole process of getting a table felt like a bit of a hassle, and while I’m glad I tried it, I don’t think I’d go out of my way to return.

This is a gem with great food and service. We loved our meal here. Don't hesitate to book here and treat yourself. The restaurant is calm and classy and well ventilated, although it's warmer by the open grill. Highly recommend the Uruguay rib eye and aged rib eye and the grilled artichokes. They served us a delicious leek gazpacho at the beginning which was refreshing.
