"Huet's Chenin Blancs, dry or sweet, are chiseled and intense—gorgeous white wines that linger on the palate as you drive to the 15th-century Château du Rivau, opened as a 12-room hotel in 2019 that has elegant stone and wood interiors and modern art throughout." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Lovely Chateau with beautiful grounds. The gardeners clearly do a first class job. The wooded area is really unique. The owners clearly cherish this beautiful place. We didn't realise until we looked at our photos that Repunzel has a hair plait running down one of the towers. Well worth a visit. Lovely cafe and coffee spot!

A lovely Chateau visit with some interesting gardens based on fairy tales themes with some beautiful plantings. The Chateau rooms have some interesting art work and quirky. We enjoyed salad lunches in the outside summer restaurant which were reasonably priced, very well presented and tasty. Well worth a visit

Great place to visit. It's not a grand castle, but a lovely small scale medieval castle. The gardens are as interesting as the castle with loads of charming and weird artwork.

Slightly away from chinon, but tucked away jn an isolated beautiful area. Farms around, sunflowers in summer, and a great parking space. Museum and history inside. Photogenic locations, well maintained also for celebrations and parties. Very good service with food and drinks.

A beautiful chateau surrounded by fairytale gardens. If you have children they will love the grounds. Recommend paying the small extra charge for the audio tour However, if you have mobility issues you will find it difficult on the cobbled paths. Despite it being early June, itcwas a very warm day and we needed a drink. The lunch on offer was all salad based so we just wanted to have a drink. NO we were told quite rudely, go to office. It wasn't explained but you can get a drink (assume a can) from the ticket office and sit at an empty table. If it had been a busy day, i could understand but less than half the tables were occupied. My disabled partner was exhausted and just wanted to go, cutting short our visit.

This venue for our elopement was a fairytale dream come true. Staff has been so incredibly accommodating and helpful from the booking process to the overnight stay, dinner reservations etc. The morning of our elopement, staff had approached us and thoughtfully offered to set aside some breakfast so we would have something to eat after our ceremony. The gift shop was so much fun. The peacocks were friendly. It was all so incredible and I highly recommend an overnight stay.

Thought it was brilliant. You get the chateau experience without the big crowds and a most unique museum mixing old and more modern art. Amazing gardens and grounds to waste the day away.

Well worth a visit for the gardens and art work inside the renovated chateau. Reduced tickets can be purchased from the Office de Tourisme in Chinon. Best to book a table for lunch if you’re there. The gardens are very well maintained and would interest many children with their fairy tale theme.
