Lalique

"Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is the quintessence of French art de vivre. The ceiling of the lavish dining room is adorned in 120 gilded Lalique crystal leaves and the conservatory commands a fine view of the vineyards. Chef Jérôme Schilling, who boasts an immaculate CV (including Guy Lassausaie, Joël Robuchon, Thierry Marx and Best Craftsman of France 2023), devises menus around the rich flavours of Sauternes produce and its world-famous wine. Scallops are paired with vine shoots, farm-raised pigeon with wine sediment and apples and caramel with the estate’s 2003 vintage… The food is served in magnificent crystalware by Lalique and Bone China tableware, raising table arts to a whole new level. Intelligent, precise cuisine which aims to exalt the distinctive identity of Sauternes, which naturally enjoys a star position on the extensive wine list." - Michelin Inspector

If you’re deciding where to stay in Bordeaux, look no further than Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey. We spent over six months planning our 40th anniversary trip, and this extraordinary property exceeded every expectation.||From the start, Zoé and the reception team were exceptional - responsive, thoughtful, and attentive. They handled every detail flawlessly, from arranging private wine tours and anniversary flowers to securing dining reservations.||We began with the Prestige Wine Tour, which was both stunning and informative—a perfect introduction where we enjoyed some wonderful Sauternes.||The rooms are beautifully designed, blending elegance and comfort with breathtaking vineyard views. The beds were among the most comfortable we’ve ever experienced, and every amenity was perfectly curated for luxury and rest.||I’ll share a separate review of the restaurants, but every meal—from the 2-star Michelin dinners by Chef Jérôme Schilling and Restaurant Director Julien, to breakfast and the Lafaurie Terrace dining—was unforgettable. Honestly, I’d skip other restaurants and enjoy every bite right here.||Bordeaux has many beautiful properties, but Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is truly in a class of its own. If you have the chance to stay here, take it—you’ll never forget the experience.

What a wonderful place. Of all of our travels internationally we have to put this hotel at the top of our list. The facility is wonderful and the staff was extremely helpful at all times. The location is so peaceful. Surrounded by vineyards with chirping birds. Our room was as advertised. A restaurant was certainly deserving of its Michelin rating.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable 40th Anniversary Stay If you’re planning a trip to Bordeaux, stop searching and book Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey. We spent over six months organizing our trip to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, and this stay was everything we hoped for—and more. The service was outstanding from the start. Zoé and the reception team were incredibly helpful, arranging everything from a stunning flower bouquet for my wife to an incredible private wine tours and all our dining reservations. Every detail was handled with care and professionalism. The Prestige Wine Tour on property was a perfect welcome—beautiful, informative, and memorable. The rooms at Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey are nothing short of spectacular. Each one is beautifully designed with a refined elegance that perfectly balances classic charm and modern luxury. The views of the surrounding vineyards are simply breathtaking—waking up to that peaceful landscape each morning felt like a dream. But what truly stood out were the beds—without a doubt, some of the most comfortable we’ve ever slept on. After long days of exploring and fine dining, sinking into those plush linens was absolute heaven. The rooms are also incredibly well-appointed, offering all the comforts and conveniences of home, from thoughtful lighting and climate control to high-end amenities that make you feel genuinely cared for. It’s clear that every detail has been considered to ensure a restful and luxurious experience. This level of comfort and beauty made our stay feel truly indulgent. Dining at the château was truly world-class. At Restaurant Lalique, we enjoyed two-Michelin-star dinners prepared by Chef Jérôme Schilling and overseen by Restaurant Director Julien. Their passion and precision made each meal a highlight of our trip. Even breakfasts (best omelette ever) and casual meals at the Lafaurie Terrace were exceptional—easily among the best meals we’ve had in our 40 years together. Yes, there are other places to eat and stay nearby—but honestly, once you arrive, you won’t want to go anywhere else. If you’re fortunate enough to stay here, it’s an experience you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

A mixed review. The property is beautiful as is all of the Lalique decor. However, service and food quality left something to be desired. Restaurant: I first went to a very nice Four Hands dinner event with a chef from Luxembourg. I would certainly visit his restaurant. I was reassured that my booking for the following day in the restaurant would be a different menu. It was technically, but the amouse bouche was partially repeated as were the Chef’s specialty (which was quite nice) as well as the pre desert and petit fours. I found communication with the staff a bit challenging, especially for a two star in France. The first time I was awkwardly held captive for about 10-15 mins before paying the bill (they wanted the chef to say goodbye which was a nice gesture but very awkwardly communicated) and then things like ordering from the sommelier were a bit challenging - they didn’t seem to know the names of several chateaus in the region, and the wine list markups were in some cases exorbitant (I recall seeing one that retailed for ~20 EUR sold for 120 EUR) and then was surprised that some other French wines I like were in fact cheaper at restaurants in the US. Later on I asked to see the options for Sauternes bottles and was just brought a glass instead of the menu. There were also several awkward lulls of 30 mins+ of no food but then times 2-3 dishes would come in rapid succession. All in all some dishes were good, others were average but I just couldn’t justify the 700-800 EUR price tag for 2, and probably would have the restaurant as Bib Gourmand or 1 star Hotel: 4/5 - beautiful property, nice staff but often nobody is at the desk and our room phone originally wasn’t working and then the parking situation was a bit confusing upon arrival. Finally, the outlets in the room are not well placed - I’ve never seen a hotel at this price point not have more convenient outlet locations (I had to physically move furniture to find them)

This is on another level, simply mind-blowing. The architecture is beautiful, a perfect symbiosis with the surrounding landscape. The staff is extraordinary. From the moment of our arrival to the final goodbye, we felt truly welcomed with warmth and sincerity. Thank you so much for this outstanding stay and the unforgettable moments, especially in the kitchen with Jerome Schilling. Merci beaucoup - Dankeschön. Nous reviendrons...

Don’t think twice, book your stay! No expense was spared in this luxury hotel. Every piece of crystal is Lalique! The maintenance of this chateau is immaculate, extremely clean and in pristine condition. Between the mattress, sheets and the pillows, it was one of the best nights sleep we have ever had. We arrived from the Dunes and tracked sand from our shoes into our vehicle. We were surprised when we returned to our vehicle, they had it vacuumed! We did the wine tour and the young lady was spectacular, very passionate, knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting for our family. We cannot express how thankful we are to the staff for trying to help us find alternative dining for picky eaters in our party. We enjoyed our drinks by the bar and we were given a few tasty hors d'oeuvre to try. The flavors of those tasters were incredible and we couldn’t wait to eat their breakfast. The restaurant is a 2 star Michelin and WOW! Best omelet ever! Their juices were well crafted and the sides we were served were spectacular. We will definitely return in the near future. Thank you again to the whole team for sheer excellence.

Unique experience on a beautiful property! Service was impeccable - friendly and professional, we always felt as though the staff were happy to host us on the property. We also had a tour & tasting which was really informative. Everything related to our stay was wonderful - beautifully furnished room with Lalique touches throughout, greeting upon check-in was attentive and friendly, housekeeping was great and there were a few “surprise and delight” experiences during our stay which made it very memorable. We had dinner at the terrace restaurant since the more formal restaurant was closed. Food and service were great, and it was a nice experience sitting outdoors with the chef cooking at the central fire pit during dinner. We enjoyed walking through the vineyards, the entire stay was very relaxing. This is a true luxury experience. Cannot recommend this property enough, and would love to stay at one of their other properties at some point!
