CHATEAU RICHEUX - LES MAISONS DE BRICOURT

Really beautiful... Modern luxe, i.e. not fancy but true country elegance. The restaurant and environs are truly sublime. Only fault is no Internet/WiFi. I get that the focus is on nature and getaway, but in this day and age this is a critical oversight.

Cancale is a real jewel on the Brittany coast and Les Rimains di Bricourt shines the brightest. We as a couple stayed at Les Rimains boutique hotel for four nights in June and the entire experience was wonderful. ||The property is beautiful and there is attention to every detail. From the teas offered in the rooms, the tasty snacks, comfortable beds, great bath products, thoughtful note from the proprietors, and impeccable service from the entire team, we could have not been more pleased with our stay. ||The views of the bay were amazing and the location is a great place from which to launch day trips to the D-Day sites of Normandy, Mont Saint Michel, Saint Malo, Dinan, and the Emerald Coast. ||We booked time at the Celtic baths and it was more than worth it. The view from the pool is unmatched. ||Dinner at the Coquillage was an unforgettable experience and will live in our memories forever. We also enjoyed a more casual dinner at the Bistrot, which was also nice. ||The Roellingers have created something very special with their lodgings, cuisine, spices and spa, and you will be glad you booked with them.

This is a wonderful hotel, the view from our Carvi room was spectacular which means Caraway. The service is unbelievable and the bed was so comfortable.

What a wonderful hotel in a wonderful setting! Everything is peaceful, luxurious, accommodating. Small gestures make you feel welcome as a guest. Breakfast is very good and dinner at the Bistro de Cancale (some 10' drive from the hotel) served first class seafood.|Do go there!

I'm afraid, despite the wonderful food, this hotel and restaurant which we've visited regularly for over 20 years is off our list. The staff have become arrogant and the owners have forgotten about customer service. They are living off their reputation. A recent booking experience for a two night stay at la Ferme du Vent for September (six months ahead) underlines this. We have often stayed both in the main hotel (Bricourt) and the beautiful Ferme du Vent. When staying in the Ferme du Vent our routine has always been to eat in the main restaurant on the first night and Ferme du Vent on the second. This time we were told that guests in Ferme du Vent are expected to eat in their room; the restaurant is full and there is no priority for Ferme du Vent guests in the restaurant which is ridiculous given the £1000+ cost of the Ferme du Vent for two nights. They do not seem to recognise or even remember (the value of) guest loyalty. We are now going to stay in Dinard at the Castelbrac. Beautiful rooms overlooking the sea.

We stayed at Roellinger's several times. First when the father was at the helm and this time with the son in charge. The eldest was a precursor and an artist. The son is a magician with an amazing talent.|Everything is perfect from the moment we arrived until the (sad) moment we left. The rooms are very clean and well decorated and appointed. The restaurant "Le Coquillage" is warm, decorated with taste. The service is perfect: present, attentive, friendly but not overwhelming. The food is just unbelievable and wonderful: each dish is more delicious and pleasantly surprising than the other.|It is definitively not cheap, but you get your full value on every Euro spent at Chateau Richeux.|We visited and enjoyed many 3 stars restaurants allover the world, and "Le Coquillage" of Mr. Roellinger definitively deserves a 3rd star...fast! Perfection and talent should be recognized.

Chateau Richeux is meant for total relaxation, and it works. Besides the wonderful rooms and spectacular food that have been mentioned in many reviews, I would like to highlight the staff, who appear to be infused with the zen spirit of the whole place, very helpful and friendly but not servile by any stretch of the imagination. They fulfilled all our wishes perfectly. As for the rooms, we experienced two: the first (the lavishly furnished Fenugrec) on the ground floor with window-door onto a semi-private garden with view of the sea and a private table, and the second on the third floor (2e étage in French), Macis, which was smaller but featured a big bay window array onto the lovely park. In the end, we would recommend the latter to anyone who needs an extra bit of air, as we were able to get a nice draft going thanks to the wind and slept very well. We also took advantage of the plantar reflexology - just amazing - and the Celtic Baths which were lovely. We came out of those experiences in a float. Also loved the lush (and obviously useful) gardens with their various animal neighbours. And the seashore. Etc etc...|

A beautiful, well-appointed property with wonderful grounds and great views of the English Channel and the Normandy coast. But the real reason to visit is the food at Le Coquillage and Le Bistro de Cancale. Local seafood flattered by creative flavors and precise cooking. Well worth a trip.
