On the Grid : Uncle Uber's Sammich Shop

"A Sammich and a sandwich are two different things. Uncle Uber's serves Sammiches. With resumes that include local faves Snuffers and Fat Ted's the owners set out to crate the mightiest of sammiches. The difference is that their creations are tasty new spins on classics. Like the Shaved Ribeye - or our fave - the Pork BunMe, with shredded pork, daikon carrot slaw and garlic mayo on a baguette. Don't let "Sammich Shop" fool you - the burgers and salads are hard to beat as well." - Reel FX

Where to Eat the Best French Fries and Tater Tots in Dallas

"Lots of sandwich shops only serve boring chips with their offerings, but not Uncle Uber’s. Their fries are thick-cut, fried to a deep golden brown, and pillowy soft on the inside, and tossed in a sweet-and-salty seasoning that will ensure every last one on the tray will be devoured. Be sure to throw in a side of the insanely tasty habanero ranch. (Side note: The burgers here are also totally underrated.)" - Amy McCarthy, Rachel Pinn

Never been here! I don't know why either. But I'm glad I did. Staff is friendly and helpful on deciding what to order. Better than a subway and has a full bar! Soft drinks usual but they got kool aid! And a few good flavors of tea! A must try you won't regret it!! Come with the munchies!

Google
This is definitely one of the BEST sandwich shops that I’ve been to! All the guys are super nice! Food is delicious! It’s always clean no matter how busy they are! Sandwich was made to perfection!

Google
Been coming here since they opened & it’s good food. Usually I like to eat there because the service was good. However recently it has declined significantly. The sandwiches are still great as I’m sure they recipes are step by step on the papers they have posted everywhere. The was a bartender I don’t remember his name but he was a long hairs Mexican guy. Was very nice to me and my kids. Made it feel less like a bar and more of a comfortable environment. Recently when I went in it felt like a trap house. Bring back that bartender! Where did he go?! Kristie is excellent. Other than that I will be ordering my food to go from now on. No longer kid friendly.

Google
This place has the best sandwiches no matter which location we visit. Service is always friendly, would definitely recommend.

Google
Heard about this place for years! Awesome! Best French Dip (AK-47) I have ever had hands down !!

Google
If there was an option for 10 stars I would give it to Cheba Hut. From my 1st phone call to Cheba I experienced their high level of customer service. Jeremy is a GEM. He was professional, sincere and accommodating. He reassured me that he could take good care of our volleyball team's dinner order of 10 items. They were perfectly labeled and delivered by Josh on time (after I modified the time and the drop off location). Josh is a true asset to Cheba too. The sandwiches were delicious and a great value. AND HUGE BONUS...they included some complimentary desserts that the girls LOVED! They were so happy. I hope we return to Dallas to be able to work with Jeremy and his team again. THANK YOU so much for fueling our volleyball team!

From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the vibe and concept of the restaurant — it’s clear that a lot of thought went into creating a welcoming and unique atmosphere. The staff was friendly and professional, and Luna in particular stood out with his kindness and attention to detail. He made me feel comfortable, took the time to explain the menu, and his recommendations were absolutely delicious. The food was full of flavor and beautifully presented. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
The subs here are unique & full of flavor. I've gone back twice for the AK-47 because the Au Jus here is so gooood. You gotta get a cookie if you're there when they are fresh, they have a little crisp to them when they're still fresh. This place also has a bar and plenty of seating inside. Finding free parking is tricky but that's for every restaurant in Deep Ellum. It is right next to a paid parking lot and has some street parking in front.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was awesome. The atmosphere was nice with painted murals. The guy who took the order was very patient, knowledgeable and helpful. The food was good.

I've eaten at Cheba Hut twice now and this place is pretty awesome . Staff is friendly food comes out quickkkkkk and toasteddddd. The store itself is pretty awesome with stickers everywhere from local advertisement to the 4.20 side of lifeeeeee. Nice place to relax eat some good food and just chill. Oh and the got unlimited Kool-aid commmon that's epic.

Yelp
Whyyyy am I just finding out about these delicious, flavor-filled sandwiches?! One Saturday night, we were just a little hungry and didn't feel like going anywhere. I found Cheba Hut while searching online. I ordered the G-13 (turkey and roast beef) on their signaturegarlic herb bread. My husband got the Sensi Kush (blt). Both sandwiches were VERY GOOD! I switched out the Chipotle mayo for regular mayo and added mustard. The combination of everything came together to be one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Same for hubby's blt..it was the best blt he's ever had. I think their house dressing is one of the main things that make the sandwiches so good. Whatever it is, this will definitely be our place for sandwiches!

Yelp
The food was delicious! The vibes inside are super dope. The service was IMPECCABLE go above and beyond to make you feel super welcomed. Try the kali mist on garlic bread. BOMB

Yelp
Amazing mushroom sandwich and love the ambience The boondocks was playing the whole time we ate and the staff working were friendly and fun. The bartender was super nice and drinks we're truly yummy. I love thé stickers everywhere and art

Yelp
Food is good nothing spectacular though. Tad bit better than subway. The koolaid isn't sweet at all in my opinion the snacks are mid the chips are usually stale. The service is good but I have caught my server going outside to smoke and then going straight to the kitchen to serve people including me the food without washing their hands. The vibe is stoner approved but yeah they gotta work on the koolaid and hygiene
google avatar

Mattison D.

Yelp
Ordered from here on door dash one late night and had to leave a review it was so good! First of all the bread was better than Jimmy John's bread I didn't think that was ever possible! And the shake and house dressing dressing (insert Michelle Obama dancing meme gif) was literally like the icing on the cake! So good and fresh!

Yelp
Tried this place with the fambam and in-laws from Cali after a volleyball tournament; one word... AMAZING!!! I (as well as my entire family) recommend this place! The staff were awesome, the food was amazing and the atmosphere was Bob Marley'ish... lol We happen to be in the area but would totally make the drive from Aledo to get a few sandwiches (which we have been talking about during the week). People.... AMAZING Food... AMAZING Atmosphere... SUPER COOL Ps... they have Kool Aid on tap!!!

Yelp
Always a great toasted sub! KGB, Midwest Best, or AK-47! Very unique environment as well!
google avatar

Yelp
Cute place, friendly staff. Sandwich was good, about like a toasted Subway sandwich. Ingredients were as expected. VERY expensive sub for tasting like Subway. $11.79 and a $2 tip. Sub only, no side, no chips or drink. Pricey lunch, for what it was. A combo sub, chips and drink would've been ok for that price. I am happy to pay $14 for lunch and more, just not for a Subway like sandwich. 2 stars for the food (being kind) and one star for the cute interior and smiling service. I wouldn't choose to go here again. Too many other options in this neighborhood.
google avatar

Violet R.

Yelp
I have been wanting to eat here for some time! I always have friends recommend it. However they do not offer gluten free bread and do not have a vegan sandwich option which is unfortunate. Looks like they have lots of other choices.
google avatar

Daniel E.

Yelp
Clean on the inside, The bread is on point, and kool-aid on tap! One of the better spots for a low price!

Kenya S.

Yelp
I would come here everyday if I could, the kali mist is the best sandwhich I've ever had and I'm a picky eater. Love the theme and how laidback everyone is.

Essence S.

Yelp
Went one Saturday needed to use the restroom they were closing the man that works at the bar long ponytail was drunk and him and his girlfriend with her baby and her hand decide to curse me and my family members out and told us F us they don't need our service

Yelp
First time eating here tonight and loved it! Staff was very friendly, service was quick. Full bar. I had the cali mist and it was fantastic. Bread was awesome and all the ingredients seemed high quality. Over all flavor of the sandwich was delicious. Will definitely be back to explore the rest of the (rather large) menu!

Kate M.

Yelp
The food is pretty good. The attitude of the staff is terrible. The energy will make you want to leave asap. If you're looking for food and a nice place to relax ironically enough it's not here. They must not be high enough.

Alianny M.

Yelp
absolutely amazing every time. no matter what you order food service is amazing very attentive and food is done quickly even when busy shout out to all the workers !Thank you for your services:)

Yelp
This place had a damn good sandwich. We were driving through the city on a bad weather day, and put the call in online. I went in about 5 minutes later and it was ready. Everybody was friendly and eager to get you taken care of. The inside had a funky fun atmosphere that seemed like a great place to go with friends or family. The sandwich has to wait until we got home but the soup did not. I chugged it. Delicious. And the sandwich was equally tasty, turkey I believe. We will be back.

Tyler F.

Yelp
Great subs and friendly staff. Has a cool lunch vibe and full bar. Will be going back when I am in the area.
google avatar

Aaron N.

Yelp
Great Sub with lots of different flavors. I like the aspect of all the subs being toasted, and the theme is fire as well! Def will be back

Yelp
Cheeba Hut is always my go to when I'm in Denver, so I was beyond excited to see them open up in Tx and the sandwiches taste the same. Absolutely amazing sandwiches, G13 is my favorite but I've tried many and none have disappointed. They always have dope ass deserts to. Kool-Aid on tap and a full bar in a stoner themed sandwich shop, what's not love. Service is always great, never had a issue. There's cool stuff to look at on the wall and their table markers are very cool! Absolutely a must try. I've been to locations in Denver, Ft.Collins, Denton and Dallas and they have yet to disappoint.
google avatar

Ankur G.

Yelp
What an awesome themed restaurant that can only be defined as a hidden gem! Whoever thought of this concept is a pure genius... The staff here is great and the pop culture references are everywhere.

Yelp
This is the best customer service I have received from a business in years! Determined to try this place out, I saw them finally listed on DoorDash. I immediately ordered and then the delivery guy must have taken off with my sammich because I never got it. So I ordered again. Exact same thing. This time another DoorDash driver calls and says there's been confusion and no one is making my food. Now I'm about to cry! I call the restaurant and explain what's going on. I tell them I've been dying to try their stuff and I was determined to snatch my tasty morsel like Sméagol. I also may have exaggerated about starving to death. Anyways, I just got my order and not only did I get extra snacks for my troubles, but coups, and a hand written note! I'm the mistake wasn't even their fault! I will be going back. I haven't even tried my food yet. I was too excited about the note! Customer for lyfe, homey.

Yelp
they gave me a free drink if I promised to do a google review. Love this place. genuinely alright sandwiches. It is a little bit in the pricier end but the price reflects in the quality,or more accurately quantity, ingredients.

Yelp
It was my first time hearing about this restaurant, but my friend said he heard amazing things about this restaurant, so we decided to check it out. We visited on a Sunday afternoon after getting our Sunday Funday morning alcohol in. When I walked in, I was so surprised at the theming of this restaurant. In the state of Texas?! But it was okay - I love crazy things. We took a look at the menu, and I decided that I wasn't too hungry so I got the 4 inch meatball sub (actual name of the sub I cannot remember) and I also got some doritos loaded nachos to share with the table. I also got Kool Aid as a tribute to my childhood. The food came out pretty quickly, and the portions were perfect. I took a bite and I was really impressed. I am a true fan of meatball subs in general, and this was really toasted to perfection. I loved the flavor it had, and because it wasn't too big, the sub wasn't becoming too messy. I really liked it. I will have to say the doritos nachos were a little salty, but that's probably because the chips itself are flavored and probably had a lot of sodium in it. I am not the hugest fan of sandwiches just in general, but whenever I do crave it and I am in the downtown area, I definitely intend on returning.

Nancy L.

Yelp
My husband & I are sandwich lovers and tried Cheba Hut yesterday for the first time. Absolute five stars! We are back today trying a couple of other sandwiches on the menu, and we keep finding "new favorites". So glad we disregarded another Yelper's review who said it was like eating a Subway sandwich. No comparison. Place has a great vibe,, very clean, decor is eclectic and fun & the staff are friendly. Can't wait to see more locations in Dallas!
google avatar

Christine R.

Yelp
Cheba Hut For The Win! I had ordered through the app today because I am visiting a friend and we were both craving Cheba. She loves the AK-47 and I looooooooove my Dank. My fruity krispy bars were left behind so I called the store about my options. I ended up talking with Joe and he said he'd personally deliver them himself!! Joe is a man of word and delivered our fruity krispy bars! I just would like to acknowledge Joe for bringing me my delicious treats! Thank you Joe!! My day has definitely been made! I've loved Cheba since I lived in Tucson and am still thrilled that they are out in DFW.

Yelp
Cheba Hut "Toasted" Subs is another excellent place to get sandwiches in Dallas. It makes my partner and me miss Colorado! From the chill vibes to the fresh bread and ingredients to the friendly (but a little slow) service, you can expect a great experience and even better sandwich at Cheba Hut.
google avatar

Chelsea O.

Yelp
New sandwich place in town, and it might be my new favorite. The 4 inch is the perfect size for me and it's not too much bread! Lots to meat and everything was really fresh. Just looking at the pictures is mouth watering. Took away a star because parking is such an issue in deep Ellum and we tried calling for pickup and no one answered.
google avatar

Randy M.

Yelp
Tasty sandwiches and good service. I guess being a stoner is an identity... I've ordered takeout there a few times and it's been great every time!
google avatar

Yelp
I love Deep Ellum. It has its parking issues; but its sense of community and history is so wonderful. With a small pay parking lot next door, there was easy access to Cheba Hut Toasted Subs on Main. The sub shop comes to us from Arizona. Here less than a year, the franchise's enthusiastic management won us over right away. They have an expansive menu and were most willing to help us figure it out. The subs are 4", 8" and 12" and are all toasted. The incredible Parisian style bread is shipped from a bakery in Colorado. We both had the Garlic Herb. They also have Wheat and White. The menu is divided by Chicken and Turkey, Meat and then just Veggie with 30 selections and 2 local signature sandwiches. Cheba Hut also has salads made fresh to order that include grilled chicken, bacon, tuna, Greek, antipasto and house salads along with specialty and house dressings. They have the usual "everything" for sandwiches and a special topping called Cheba Shake - Parmesan, oregano and other spices - and a house vinaigrette that's terrific on a sandwich. They also have multiple other sauces and dressings. My husband ordered a local sandwich called the Death Star - a turkey and salami sandwich with bacon and jalapenos, pepper jack, and jalapeno cream cheese! Oooh wee! Muy picante! He loved it. I had an Italian sub, the La Canna. With tons of flavor, it was fabulous! Smoked ham, genoa salami, prosciutto, black olive, and provolone all melty and hot with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and that vinaigrette and Cheba Shake. I noticed that they have beer and cocktails with daily specials. There's a bar up front and booths and small tables in back; but Cheba Hut is not a big place. We were there around 3:00 in the afternoon. We had been to Baylor and I wanted to eat lunch somewhere. Cheba Hut, that time of day, was perfect. They cater and have a separate party pack menu. This bread they have would definitely stand up to transport. It is scrumptious toasted and doesn't gum up when compressed. We loved the sandwiches and would definitely go back to dine in or get something to go!

MacKenzie L.

Yelp
My favorite sandwich spot. The 8-inch Kali mist hits the spot every time. I often come here after the gym, usually still hot from working out, and their air conditioning rocks. Truly a gem. Great food, easy going vibes, clean and cool restaurant. Can't beat it.
google avatar

Becca S.

Yelp
If anyone welcomed me when I walked in, I certainly didn't hear it. And no one came to take my order until after a group of 3 came in behind me. Now, they were finishing up some to go orders, but it was starting to feel awkward. I admit, it was 100 and I looked a hot mess. I WAS a hot mess! And hungry! I placed my order, got a cup for water, and my Primus sign. I was sailing the seas of cheese. And then they brought me my pinner sized, 8 inch, KGB on wheat. That is roast beef, horseradish, and all their fixins. Hot damn, that sandwich was good. I could have used more horseradish, but I am a spice and vinegar junkie and too much is never enough. The sandwich was well balanced. And the bread? Oh my, the bread. It was crispy, but soft, the perfect texture for a sandwich. It didn't cut your mouth but was substantial enough to keep all the delicious bits in. I don't drink sodas or sugary drinks, but it appeared they had some koolaid like beverages available and a full bar. It is a chain, but a good addition to Deep Ellum. Who doesn't like a tasty and affordable sandwich?

Amanda B.

Yelp
I am a long time fan of Cheba Hut and have recommended it to so many friends, they truly make the best sandwiches. However, I went today and I kid you not I found a LIVE LADY BUG IN MY SANDWICH. I know mistakes happen but really how does this happen. Like what. Anyways eat here at your own risk i guess. Also the app is really bad they need to update it.
google avatar

Aaron C.

Yelp
Great sandwiches. Great staff. Man these sandwiches almost want to make you act up in the restaurant if you know what I mean. They definitely did it for the vine.
google avatar

Shayal V.

Yelp
While the sandwiches were good, I don't think this will be my favorite place to get a sandwich in Dallas. The garlic herb bread was great, fluffy inside and crispy outside, and the chicken was cooked perfectly (soft and tender). I think the BBQ could've used extra sauce, but it did taste good. Two friends split the A-Train and the Magic Mushroom and both preferred the latter. The tuna sandwich was reportedly "pretty good" and the nachos were demolished. Garlic bread was okay, nice and soft bread, but probably wouldn't order again. Service was decent, mostly nice people and about half were still masked. An 8" sandwich is plenty of food, 12" would make for two meals.
google avatar

Lauren-Ashley B.

Yelp
Came here for drinks with a date, the place is low key, hip and the service is nice. They're open late everyday and they have a list of sandwiches to order. They have drink deals for everyday of the week. I had the gin and juice special and it was delicious. Can't wait to come back and try one of the subs.
google avatar

Aaron X.

Yelp
Honestly, Cheba Hut is one of my favorite sandwich chains. Their subs are flavorful, toasted well, and not all that expensive. If you're with another person, consider splitting a foot-long "Blunt" with other sides like Garlic Cheese Bread, a Goo Ball (which is like an elevated Rice Krispies), or even a bowl of meatballs. This restaurant obviously doesn't have a family vibe (it's in Deep Ellum anyways), but interestingly, there are outlets at almost every table, so I guess you could work/study here if you really wanted? Anyways, I would eat a foot-long Kali Mist right now if I could...
google avatar

Kulpreet B.

Yelp
If you're looking for somewhere chill to hangout in Deep Ellum Cheba Hut is perfect. Their sandwiches really hit the spot. The vibe is really cool and the staff is super sweet. I have been here one time before. My husband and I both decided to try something different. He got the dank sandwich and I the Kali Mist. I recommend both especially with extra chipotle Mayo on the Kali mist (getting hungry thinking about it). I feel like the 4inch is perfect but the 8 inch made for delicious leftovers.
google avatar

Murph M.

Yelp
Pls pls pls open another location in center dallas or north dallas. Turkey club is the best sandwich. Drinks are great too.
google avatar

Matt T.

Yelp
My 2nd time here. Got the Apollo 13 as a salad. Good stuff. Dressing was on the side so you could ration it yourself. Was a good size for the price. My server, Daren, was a cool dude. Will come back.
google avatar

Bretton H.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time last week. Tried 2 types of sandwiches in the garlic bread and for a counter service sandwich shop I'd give this place somewhere in the 8-10 range. Fair sized portions, nice, crispy toasted bread and to top things off, they had what is probably one of my favorite chocolate chip cookies I've had at a sandwich shop.
google avatar

Elizabeth A.

Yelp
Great service, friendly and fun ambiance. Everything on their menu has a little something special and the food I ordered was soooooo delicious
google avatar

Mike A.

Yelp
The type of service I expect here. Huge upgrade from what's her name. Came for food and drinks on a Monday and Francisco treated me and my buddy right. Hoping to continue to patronize this place. Hoping the management responds to this as quickly as they did my other post.
google avatar

Duriel E.

Yelp
Top tier sandwiches! Its like a tasty adventure. I always stop in when I'm in town. I hate subway.
google avatar

Joseph B.

Yelp
So this shop is a cool spot in Dee Ellum with good subs and was on point the first time I came the first week they opened. I went back today at 5pm on a Monday and it was not that great. I ordered a blunt "BOMB" which is a meatball sub the same as I ordered last time. The last time it was Excellentthis time...... Not so much, the whole sandwich just fell apart at the bottom letting go of all the ingredients. The breadwas soggyand I just did not enjoy it. I'm not a complainer because that's not me but I will go back eventually and hope it's better next time. My boys loves their subs though and I'm sure you will too just don't get the bomb at 5pm on a Monday lol.... P.S. GET THE BLUE KOOK AID!!!!
google avatar

Ayesha K.

Yelp
Me and my family are diehard fans of this place. We originally discovered it in Colorado and we were so excited and delighted that we bought it here. But I guess you can say there is always a last time for everything? My reason for this is that we were there previously maybe a few Saturdays ago, I believe it was a Monday and Google maps as well as Apple said they were open till 12 AM. We got there about 935-ish and the person that was there said hey we are closed because we have more orders of mobile and to go and it was not even 12 AM and he's like we're not taking any more orders. And we were a big party we would've given you guys a big business but I guess we just got a find somewhere else to take that business now.

Moet M.

Yelp
My card was used to pay for a transaction that wasn't mine on July 2. On July 4, I called to ask about it and was told that it would be looked into on July 5. Today is July 24. I have called 4 times and still have not had anyone call me or reach out about the situation. The shift lead who answered the phone couldn't care less and said all I can do is wait. He also seemed to think it was unreasonable for me to expect a manager to call me back despite the fact that it's been weeks and no one has shared any shred of information on why I was charged, when I should expect a refund, no apology, NOTHING. I was told that this isn't that important because the manager is busy trying to open a new location. I hope it fails.
