Checkin Faro by Leonel Pereira

We tried the 'Check In' restaurant for our evening dinner this week having seen the various Michelin accolades on the front of the building. On entering the restaurant, it was clear that the service was going to be exceptional. Courteous, attentive staff saw to every detail. We began with a cocktail, prepared with the individual flair of the barman who put his own twist on familiar cocktails. Absolutely delicious. We had traditional starters before going on to more familiar options but all served with the passion of the chef whose foray into developing algae for consumption has been an absolute triumph. At first you might decide that algae is not an ingredient, but the extreme health properties made it an attractive option and we were not to be disappointed. The clever development of this pure product transformed the dished we tried. Overall, this is a 'must' for true food lovers who are open to try new twists on traditional fare. The chef personally came to introduce himself and explain the concepts - it was much appreciated as we gained a comprehensive understanding of the growing use of sustainable techniques in the kitchen. First class from start to finish!

An exceptional experience. Perfectly portioned and curated courses with excellent service at each stage of the meal. My wife and I traveled to Portugal for our 10-year wedding anniversary and made a reservation here as our elegant dinner for the trip. Service was attentive, kind, and eager to explain every part of the meal. The one downside of this meal was a small piece of plastic packaging that was dropped into my squid. The staff were embarrassed, offered a chef’s complimentary dessert for each of us, and took the entree off of the final bill. Overall, a phenomenal dining experience.

A well hyped establishment in Faro that lives up to to all the attention. The dining room is well appointed, modern, but a little stark. The service, the food, and the wine selection are the stars here. We started with the mushroom soup that is topped with a slow cooked egg, then progressed to the Suckling pig and the Duck breast as our main courses. All were very well prepared and artistically presented with well balanced flavors. The wine selection is very extensive, Portugal focused and offers some of the best selections that highlight the many regions of Portugal. Best of all the wines are reasonably priced for the high quality. The prices overall are moderate but what you would expect for such high quality. 4.8/5.0

The food was amazing! Service was impeccable, very easy to get a reservation. I would recommend the seabream fillet and the cheesecake desert!! Would love to go back :)

We don’t like leaving negative reviews, but given the high price point of this restaurant — especially compared to others in the region — and its strong Michelin recommendation, we feel compelled to share our experience. While the service and atmosphere were undeniably good, the food was disappointing. All three starters lacked flavor and creativity.. Only the main course showed the level of quality one would expect from such a restaurant . Unfortunately, the overall experience did not live up to the high expectations set by its reputation. At this price level, we expected more..

Stumbled across this restaurant and what a place to stumble into Food, was flawless. Service, amazing. Atmosphere perfect. If you get the chance dine here well worth the money

Wow, what a treat for our last meal of the holiday. The food was beautiful and I have to give a fantastic shout out to Victor who helped us match drinks with the meals we chose - an absolute legend. In fact, all the waiters were superb. The only slight oddity was no female staff which made it feel like it was a choice but maybe we hit on a night where they weren't in.

Excellent customer service! Delicious food. We just about tried everything on the menu with a group of friends. The duck and steak were a hit!!!! My first duck experience and it was delicious! The pork dish was also delicious with immense flavor and tenderness. The cocktails were also a hit! I would definitely return if I had the opportunity!!!
