While strolling down the street in search of a quick bite and a drink, we stumbled upon Cheesie’s Pub & Grub. What we thought would be a quick stop turned into a three-hour experience. The manager, Akee, took great care of us, making the time fly by. He recommended a variety of bite options, all of which were absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for great food, drinks, and a chill atmosphere, this is the place to be!

Super yummy grilled cheese with alllll the options! I loved all 8 flavors that I tried!

Food and service were terrible. Food came out incorrect and I only made it through a couple of bites as it wasn't good at all. Server came over later and asked 'do you just want the check'. Then after running my card informed me that there is a 20 percent service fee which of course wasn't on the original check. Seems like she knew it was a bad experience and chose to do nothing else but ensure she was tipped. It's safe to say that it's not worth it for an almost 20 dollar menu item.

One of the few places open super late in this town. For what you're getting, the food is dang good. Tomato soup dipper cups are awesome. Service is top notch. The dude at the door hooked me up. I wish I could remember his name. Thanks again for that the other night mid October. You know who it is.

It was Midnight and couldn’t find any food place open, Cheesie’s was open till 3:00AM so decided to give it a try. Found parking easily , Business was flowing smoothly inside. Friendly and welcoming staff , Food was so good you can taste all the rich flavors. definitely will return.

I ordered the balboa. That was one hell of a sandwich. I kept passing by this place and I'm glad I didn't this time. Been missing out on this sammich. My experience with grilled cheese restaurants is that they always skimp out on the cheese or toppings. Not this place. Whoever the cook/chef was this afternoon 11/18 @2pm cooked a perfect sandwich. Hot, fresh, cheesy and fulfilling. I will definitely be coming back

I love Cheesie’s so much! We frequent the one in Lake View but tried this one now that Berlin closed over there. Sergio was so personable and is a great manager. Honestly shocked to read some of these reviews because he was highly professional! Can’t wait to see the rooftop this summer. Killer mojitos as well made by this man! Hoping to do an event here soon after such a fun experience!

Even though Cheesie's in Wicker Park was in the midst of a remodel during my visit, I was thoroughly impressed by how they managed to turn what could have been a minor setback into a truly enjoyable experience. The ambiance wasn't quite what I expected due to the ongoing renovations, but the fantastic service more than made up for it. The staff was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. The sandwiches were as delicious as ever, and the unique alcoholic drinks were a delightful surprise--each one was crafted to perfection. Can't wait to see the finished remodel, but in the meantime, I highly recommend checking out Cheesie's for an exceptional sandwich experience and a great drink selection.

I don't get to enjoy Cheesie's often. I live nowhere near and I don't have a car to get there either. So the few times I'm visiting in the area I get to enjoy my favorite sandwich: The Tenderizer! Thanks to UberEats for delivering this delicious meal to me tonight. You can tell the employees care about their food with the care they put into the way they make the food and package it. I haven't been in person to this location but I've visited the Belmont one and it's a great place to stop by and enjoy a meal with friends. If you're close by, you're incredibly lucky and should go eat there soon! This photo doesn't do their sandwich justice but it's absolutely yummy. And you can't go wrong with ordering extra ranch. At the grill cheese festival waited in line for 30 minutes and still waiting OMG!! I prepaid and was given a time so I don't understand the problem and they didn't even offer drinks for waiting. My sister also ordered fries and that' was a crazy wait as well. (20 minutes for fries)The best thing is after the wait at least the grilled cheese was good.

Grilled cheese was good but tasted better without the side sauce. I had the Mac and cheese as well and I'm so upset I didn't take a picture because there was a BUTTLOAD of pepper on that Mac and cheese. I honestly don't know if it was accident or not but there was so much pepper it was so hard to taste the cheese. Our server & other staff were funny though and the place was cute. There were table games to play while you wait for your food which wasn't a long wait.

I went to Cheesie's with my friends the other day and it didn't disappoint. The Tenderizer is really GOOD, but it's my old reliable since it has cheddar, mozzarella, bacon & chicken. I tried the Fried uncrustable and it's sweet, but it's worth the try! Also, the cashier was very nice to me and my group as he served us and even gave us chalk to draw on the tables with to entertain ourselves. Overall, very good grilled cheeses with a spin and a nice bar to top it off.

This Cheesie's is the best Cheesie's location I have ever been to. The manager is so kind and accommodating. They always have something fun going on. We walked in and found out it was happy hour from 5-7pm on weekdays meaning the food is 50% off. It is also a bar and they have game nights/ gaming competitions. They also have movie nights with free popcorn. I dream about the grilled cheese sandwiches and when I blink I can see the gooey cheese. I LOVE IT! You guys should definitely check it out here. The vibes are 10/10.

Bartender was an absolute clown and insulted my outfit when I sat down at the bar. Not going to take fashion advice from a guy with only half of his teeth.

First time at cheesie's and so far a great experience . They greet you kindly with a welcome and a smile . The manager and waiter were both very nice . I definitely preferred the popper sandwich over the tenderizer mainly because the sauce it comes with is sweet which kinda threw me off! Not bad but I wasn't really wanting sweetness in my sandwich . The popper was overflowing with cheese , the jalapeños were fresh and the bacon was nicely rendered . I would come back for this sandwich and try out another in the future !

Still dreaming about the food I got tbh. It's so good and filling for a good price. This has to be the best chicken grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had. The server was a little quirky, but he was attentive for the most part. Overall, loved it.

I've never been to this location, but I would come again if there's parking available! I got to try their new weekend brunch menu and tbh I would definitely get the "Porky's Revenge"! It was essentially a cheese sausage link and egg sandwich! It had the right amount of everything and was filling. I'm not sure about prices but if you want something filling, definitely go here. I typically get the Mac n cheese sandwich on the regular but this was something different! This place also had some gaming options which I thought was nice.

The ambiance for Cheesie's on a Saturday night was great. I came with 6 of my friends and had a blast. The food and service was fantastic. My group ordered a variety of apps and grilled cheeses. The Mac n cheese bites and cheese curds were fantastic. The drinks were also good and not overpriced.

We had such a great time at Cheesie's. We dropped in before seeing a comedy show down the street. The Oxoacan Old Fashioned was smoky and delicious, the best mezcal drink I've had.. Food and service were great.

I love Cheesie's! In the winter, there is nothing I crave more than Grilled cheese, and tomato soup. This is my dream come true. One of the hidden gems on the menu are the Chicken fingers. They are some of the best I've ever had. I wish I didn't love this joint so much, and my belt feels the same.

Cannot emphasize enough to avoid this place by all means!! The server (Black guy with face tattoo) was so incredibly rude. My friend and I went in around 2pm on Sunday after doing some shopping. We just wanted a quick bite to eat. And while I wasn't expecting 5-star restaurant level service since this place is just a pub, I still expect to be treated kindly and politely by the staff, which we got the complete opposite of. My friend and I were the only people in there which should've been a sign for us to leave immediately but we were hungry. Here's some things that happened with our server over the course of 30ish mins while we were there: - he mocked my friend for asking to leave off the cheese sauce for her sandwich - he also walked by and mocked the way I ate my sandwich when I was literally just eating my food, minding my business - accused us of trying to leave the store without paying when we both got up to fill up our fountain drinks - comes by our table to tell us that "you sound...I don't wanna say white but...you sound foreign." His exact words. I was flabbergasted because I'm literally from the Midwest just like him (he said he's lived in Chicago for 40 years). He proceeds to ask where we're from (Cincinnati, OH) and then rudely questions us about what food culture we've experienced. I love talking about food (obviously since I'm on Yelp!!) and am always open to suggestions. However, this was not that kinda interaction. I truly was being meanly interrogated. It was not in a funny, playful joking way. He claims we haven't experienced different food cultures in Ohio. Demands to know if I've had soul food, collard greens or gumbo, all of which I said yes and he believes I'm lying. He claims that doesn't exist in Ohio. Honey, it's literally just 2 states over, yes it does exist there. He goes on a RANT that "Chicago is the epicenter of all food." Yes I live here in this city too and know that...he lists all the food types you can find in Chicago and goes on a tangent of how I haven't been cultured and need to try Puerto Rican food. Meanwhile my friend and I were just minding our business trying to eat! This food culture tangent lasted at least 5-10 mins and we didn't argue or talk back because we didn't want to encourage him to keep going with berating us. My food sat getting cold while he talked because he had mocked me eating beforehand so I felt self conscious. I wish I were making this up. I've never had such an uncomfortable, rude experience before in my life. After his food culture rant, we quickly paid and got boxes to finish our food elsewhere because we didn't want to endure anymore accosting. Avoid this place!!

Avoid at all costs. Go to one of the other Cheesie's. I can't remember the last time I was in a place where the staff was openly angry people were coming in to eat. The one employee sat there and ignored us for 5 minutes. Even when he came to help us he openly complained and swore because we were there to eat. I usually love Cheesie's. I will never be back to this location. It should probably just close. Service was beyond terrible. What a joke.

I absolutely love Cheesies. Delicious food. Been going for years, but I was a bit taken a back this week regarding what is considered a cup size and bowl size of soup during a takeout order. I ordered a cup of tomato soup and was given the tomato soup and was given the soup in the same container that a dipping sauce is usually in. When I said my cup of soup was missing, I was told that the dipping sauce container was a cup of soup and that if I wanted the bigger size then that would be a bowl. I don't think using the word "cup" on the menu is truthful if it's just a dipping sauce container. I didn't want to make a big deal so I ordered the bowl then in addition to the "cup" but when I got home we called to complain and were supposed to get a call back from a manager but never did. So beware if you order a cup of soup from this location.

Really impressed with the quality of Cheesie's. But that's not the only reason I gave this place five stars. Sat down at the bar with a friend and asked the bartender if he could put on a particular college football game. This man searched for 20 minutes until he found it. If that's not dedication to customer service, I'm not sure what is. Unfortunately we had finished our food and drinks by the time he found the channel so only got to catch about two minutes of the game, but grateful for his service nonetheless.

This is the second time that I've visited Chicago but the first time I had Cheesie's... yes, my mistake. It was so good and so filling. The prices are reasonable and reflect the quality of food that is being served. They also feature a full bar which is a definite must on vacation... haha. Everyone left Cheesie's with high spirits and enlightened tastebuds. Had we been smart enough, we would have come back again before we left.

Cancelled delivery order that was ordered far in advance of closing time with no notification

Cheesie's offers both delicious grilled cheeses and has a full bar inside, what could be better! The atmosphere is great and the grilled cheeses are delicious! If I could make any suggestion it would be to add more grilled cheese options to the menu and preferably more with protein in them. I tried ordering The Future grilled cheese and was told they don't sell that one anymore, however it was still on the menu. Ending up getting The Caprese grilled cheese and the basil tasted so fresh, that was the best part. Overall, good food and I would go back for more!

I've been here sober and not and both times it was a hit! Seriously love this place the flavors were incredibly and I love the variety of sandwiches. Not to mention they have an awesome rewards program!!! 10/10 love it

This place is pretty delicious! I usually don't care for grilled cheese sandwiches, but I got The Popper here last night (with no cream cheese) and it was delicious! It came with cheddar cheese, jalapenos, and bacon bits on it, and I got a side order of amazingly delicious tots. The bread was delicious because it was sourdough, though some sandwiches come with different kinds of bread. Each sandwich also comes with it's own sauce on the side that complements it very well. Everything was freshly made and very hot, as well. Prices weren't bad at all, but the sandwiches don't come with a side or a drink unless you ask for them separately or unless you come for lunch, because apparently, they only sell things as meals for lunch. My sandwich was anout $8.50, and my tots and drink were around $3 each. But quite honestly, the food was great and I don't think the price was too high for the quality of food I recieved and for how big the sandwiches are. The atmosphere is super cool. It's dark, they have TVs, a nice long bar, and they have games to play. There is darts which is a dollar to play, skee ball, and they have giant Jenga, which was so much fun but so much harder because there is a plastic or rubber coating on them which makes it harder to pull blocks out. Our service was great, and it was pretty dead when we came here last night around 10pm. I will definitely be back very soon!

Explain this. Religious dietary restrictions are a joke to this establishment. This is the SECOND reorder tonight I had to reorder THREE times two nights ago at the Cheesie's on Belmont. If you keep kosher or halal or just have preferences, this business will ignore your requests.

Listen, the food is great but the staff is not! I almost walked by because it's so dark and looks closed, I wouldn't have known unless someone was sitting right next to the window. The staff don't know customer service, their whole demeanor is unwelcoming and I just wanted to leave. If I come back here I'm ordering ahead or having someone else pickup.

This lunch truck takes the grilled cheese grub on location from it's flagship location to neighborhoods around the city. If you think this is a usual everyday food stop, you couldn't be further from accurate. Macaroni, potato filled sandwiches are just some of the regular fairs that you'll find here. They even offer a food eating challenge which dwells along the impossible region. But who knows, maybe you can eat 10lbs worth of grilled cheese and fries.

This review is long overdue! I absolutely love Cheesie's! It was one of the first ever pubs/restaurants I've been to ever since I moved to Chicago and I am thankful for my coworker for suggesting this place. My friends and I always hangout here after we get done fooling around in the Wicker Park area. It's one of the few restaurants that are open extremely late during the weekends and even during the week. I've also ordered food delivery from here several times back when they used to deliver to downtown. I've tried almost everything on their menu, but my absolute favorite will always be "The Mac". It's basically the original grilled cheese sandwich on texas toast, but topped with delicious mac and cheese. It also comes with a very small side dipping sauce of "tomato soup", but you can always order a larger cup for an extra 2.99$ or a bigger bowl for 4.99$. The seasoned fries, sweet potato fries and tater tots are also a must. I just can't see myself having a grilled cheese sandwich without fries to the side. As for appetizers, I always order the fried pickles. They are fried to perfection, never too greasy or oily, and always have the perfect crunch. If you think this should be enough for one night, then you guessed wrong. After all that goodness, my friends and I always order the deep fried PB&J to finish off our meal. Trust me, it's worth it, and hey, calories don't count on the weekends, right? This place gets really crowded on weekends. I feel as if it is a Chicago staple, so it's not just locals that hangout here. I've never had any trouble with service, it's always been great and efficient. The food does take a while to come, depending on how crowded the place is, but it's always worth the visit.

Tenderizer sandwich is good probably their best sandwich, but the kids got the Mac and cheese and The Mac sandwich. I've never heard my daughters say any Mac and cheese was nasty. Should definitely taste food before serving it as it was peppered heavy with zero salt. Loved this place when they first opened probably not coming back as they did the taco burrito king transition just for drunk people with dull taste buds.

How disappointing. I came here with friends for a drink, and placed my order at the front podium. When I approached, the gentleman wad wearing his mask WELL below his nose. I kept my 6' distance, and graciously asked if he would make sure that his mask covered his nose and mouth. His response (and this was a direct quote) was "so you get to breathe, and I don't?" I'm sorry, but as someone who enforces mask policy all day everyday, I took an actual offense to this encounter. Shortly thereafter, the same individual approaches my bar stool, with his mask fully on his chin, and I asked again if he'd ensure his mask covered his nose and mouth, as the CDC recommends. He proceeded to cuss me out, and tell me to leave immediately. I asked for the manager, who eventually showed up and would not allow me to explain what happened, and instead KICKED ME OUT and made my friends pay for my drink. You should be so ashamed of yourselves. I'll never be back and will be sure to share my experience.

Ordered for takeout late on a Saturday night and the food was SO salty, we just couldn't eat it. The bread on the sandwiches and the breading on the fried pickles were overloaded with salt. Might have been because we ordered right before they were closing, but we could not tolerate it.

Cheesie's is SOOOOO good; especially after hours of dancing leading to a famished feeling. They have good options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike and the side sauces go so well with the perfect sandwiches. This location is open till 4am too so it'll satisfy any late night cravings. Definitely go!

The food was good as usual and free refills jus like the others. The setup here is better than the original on Belmont. There are booths & high tables plus bar seating. Came in around 2pm and seemed like they had jus opened within the hour. The floor was greasy, 5 tables that were used weren't bussed right away, no a/c on a really muggy day. This review is more about cleanliness and first impression but I guess the crowds that frequent this neighborhood don't care about stuff like that, they jus wanna get their munchie fix. There's a few arcades/skee ball near the entrance if that's your thing. I'll be back but please be on point.

The service was great, good amount of seating. I had the Mac. Pretty much a macaroni and cheese grilled cheese. It was pretty good but a little too much for me. I think the Texas toast is too much bread for the sandwich. They have a nice variety of sandwiches. Definitely worth trying at least once.

Oh man where do I start?! You must get the mac, the tenderizer (my new fave), and the balboa. The fried mac and cheese balls are amazing!~there was one order out of 20 that they smelled like throw up, but I'm willing to let it go because of all the fantastic other times~ Now, I don't know about you, but I love a good ol' fried pb&j. They serve it with Hershey's syrup and it's just the little things that get me by in this life. Also, they are open late and it is hard not to gravitate towards them!

Oh what a delight, especially after a random girls night out. Our visit to Whiskey Business ended us at my new favorite #AllCheeseEverythingSpot. The sandwiches were beyond my expectations. I ordered The Tenderizer Sandwich, and it was so so good!!! I've been raving about it ever since. I washed it down with a Watermelon Margarita that the bartender even through in an extra shot for free. Issa MUST!

If you like grilled cheese this is the place for you! There's so many specialty grilled cheeses to pick from you won't know where to start. The tenderizer is their most popular- it has chicken tenders, hot sauce, and bbq sauce. This is going to be next on my list to try! We ordered the Mac (mac n cheese), the melt (chicken, bacon, thousand island), and the Edgar (pulled pork, bbq sauce, cole slaw). Everything was delicious but my favorite had to be the Edgar. It's a cool place, the tables are also chalkboards.

This is the best Cheesies in Chicago, Sheena was so sweet and genuine. my girlfriend and I took forrver to order because everything looked so good and she was so patient and funny. i honestly want to come back later for dinner. she deserves a raise!!!!!!

I loooove Cheesie's! It is definitely a Chicago thing among locals. Or at least for locals that like to go out and have fun at night and as it sometimes happens, when having too much fun, you get hungry for second dinner and if that is the case - Cheesie's is there to save you! Cheesie's sandwiches being my second dinner or early breakfast was just the beginning of this profound relationship with both of the Cheesie's locations (the one on Milwaukee in Wicker Park and the other in Lakeview on Belmont Ave). Now, I can have and truly enjoy Cheesies's anytime - breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack. I will never say no to Cheesie's. You just don't do that. Every time, I see their food truck at Daley Plaza it seriously cheers up my day. (However, there is more craft in their sandwiches in the pubs as the food truck has certain limitations with ingredients, so I recommend trying the pub over the food truck.) You can always modify the sandwich and add anything else you want to it or take something away. Being a vegetarian, I have tried a vegetarian version of every single sandwich on their menu and cannot say I dislike any of them, on the contrary - I love them all! But of course I have my favorites. As a huge basil fan, I absolutely love Caprese, that is the one my heart goes to the most, but close behind is The Popper and for those who like Mac & Cheese, you cannot skip on ordering their Mac & Cheese sandwich. It is amazing! It is my boyfriend's no. 1 and even though he claims to love me, I am sure he would easily exchange me for an unlimited supply of Cheesie's Mac & Cheese sandwich. It is a real love. He loves it so much that every time we end up there, he always eats one or two right there and he takes one for himself in the future. Definitely recommend visiting! Besides great sandwiches, they also have great selection of draft beers! Cheers! (Also, cheers to Cheesie's amazing crew and the wizardry that is happening behind the scenes in the kitchen! If I could give zero stars I would. Ordered about $200 worth of food for a big group of people. Upon arriving to the store they say they don't have any of our food because I called and canceled my order... huh? What? No I didn't? Someone apparently had called to cancel their own order and the cheesies team just assumed it was the one I placed? without confirming the name on the order or anything.... Annoying but whatever, stuff happens. They say they'll make the food for me right then and there. Great! The bartender tells me 15-20 minutes, guy in the kitchen says I'll only have to wait 5 minutes. End up waiting 40 minutes before my food comes out (mind you this is a Sunday at like, 2pm. There's maybe 4 other people in the entire dining area). Get the food, go home, and we're missing food. We had ordered ONE caprese sandwich, they charged us for TWO and gave us NONE. I call back to ask for a refund for the two sandwiches and the guy who answers the phone is extremely rude and gives me a ton of attitude, even specifically saying "it's not our fault the order was cancelled. It's our fault you didn't get the sandwiches but not our fault it was cancelled"... uhhh?? It is entirely your fault the order was cancelled since you didn't even bother to confirm the name on the order with whom was cancelling??? The guy says he's refunding our two sandwiches, confirms it's done, and then hangs up. Anyway, we get our food finally, it's lukewarm and mostly bread. Minimal grilled cheese insides... nothing great. But whatever, it's food. Fast forward 3 weeks and we realize he never refunded us for the two caprese sandwiches. Called the location 3 separate times since they've opened today and it just keeps going to voicemail. Avoid this location at all costs. Go to the Belmont one.

Always a delicious place! That have a bunch of beers on tap, but our bartender wasn't 100% knowledgeable on local brews, which wasn't the best for a tourist like myself. They have a variety of amazing Grilled Cheese and Mac & Cheese sandwiches. This is a great place after a late night out or for a mid day lunch if you're near any of the locations. I visit this restaurant every time I go to Chicago! One of my favorite places to eat.

I used to love this place but its gone so far downhill. 4 times in a row my order has been missing sides, missing ingredients on the sandwich, inconsistent smaller portions, or just the wrong item all together. Please take the time to read the order before sending it out on delivery. I know mistakes happen so I normally would not hold it against a business but this is getting to be who they are.

My 1st time here trying to get a fast food dinner. I am highly impressed with server Jesus and his manager Making my 1st time experience and excellent experience while I will definitely come more times the food tastes great. All I wanted was a grilled cheese to knock out hunger and ended up spending more because the food was so good

Ordered delivery from here as I am a frequent customer of the food truck whenever they are in Hyde Park. I know what you're thinking, the food was probably cold and disgusting by the time it got to you and totally not worth the delivery fees. WRONG! The food was still warm once I received it and tasted as delicious as it does off a food truck. I highly recommend Cheesie's whether you're at this location or the one on Belmont. I have to pace myself because the Mac is so delicious, you'll want to eat it every day along with the tater tots. If you are on the fence about going, take the plunge!

No one actually gets food here. I've been standing around for about an hour after placing my order and as far as I can tell, people just place their order and then stand around until they get tired of waiting and then leave. It's actually a pretty ingenious business strategy. Just put up a menu for the drunks stumbling around Milwaukee Avenue, take their money, and never actually give them any food. Don't get me wrong; it's a cool place with a bar and skeeball, but I kinda feel like a place that advertises grilled cheese sandwiches should be able to provide grilled cheese sandwiches. I almost got punched by some random dude who got tired of waiting and had the gall to ask about his food. The cashier was some girl named Joseph (which is weird), and she told him that they were busy and would eventually think about considering whether to fill his order. I thought this was a pretty unsatisfactory answer. Evidently this guy thought the same, because he got animated and was only quelled by the hood rat patron who started tweaking in front of his face. I still do not know whether this dancer was employed by Cheesie's to distract the hungry customers from the fact that there are no sandwiches to be eaten. In short, you should probably eat something before coming here, because you will work up an appetite while waiting for this operation to get its act together. Fortunately I had some beef jerky in my pocket, otherwise I would have died from starvation. I hesitate to think whether my emaciated corpse on the floor of Cheesie's would open them up to any wrongful death liability, especially after Joseph told me that she would "be right back" before going in the back to stock Gatorades while dancing to Khia and singing about analingus. She was clearly busy. I'm pretty sure I could plough rows, plant seed, fertilize field, reap chaff, grind wheat, bake bread, milk cow, culture cheese, and cook a sandwich in shorter order than it is currently taking Cheesie's to grill a mother loving cheese. Oh, here we go... I think my order is ready. Nope. That was just Joseph answering the phone by hanging up immediately. There are something like six people in the kitchen. I can't imagine what they are slicing and cooking, since I haven't seen a single person get their order in forty five minutes. Hopefully they are taking sanitary precautions since this entire place smells like vomit. I was tempted to ask for my money back, but after 70 minutes, I was finally served my luke warm sandwich. I will update this post after I choke down some cold cholesterol. Way to go, Cheesie's!
