A place I always go back to, this place has really nice baos, not very pricey and the fillings are amazing. My favorite is the crispy chicken and the pork belly. They have nice shangai fried buns, too. Both shrimp and pork flavors are good. They have a wider range of nice classy dishes, which I like. My go-to spot of baos for sure. The ambiance is pretty good, nice decor and a very instagramable place.

We decided to give a try after many recommendations. I liked the food but it wasn’t amazing. The buns were somewhat lacklustre, which was disappointing being a signature dish. I’ve had much much better buns at other places in the past. Especially the pork belly bun, the meat was just too fatty we couldn’t finish it. The fried chicken was decent, as were the pan fried buns. Would recommend for a quick bite, or if hungry and stopping by, but do not expect a gastronomical treat

You won't get a better Bao than this one in Montreal. Way better than Satay Bros. in quality, quantity, variety and taste. Went for a quick takeout on St Patrick's Day. Though I'm not a big lover of fried chicken but the garlic chicken didn't disappoint. The garlic wasn't overpowered and bun was so fresh. For vegetarians, Chef Lee has great choices as well. Nice decor, quick service and friendly staff 😊

An amazing spot for a light and tasty meal! Chef Lee is a cute corner spot on St Catherine with the best buns in town(yes,you read that right).I ordered the Bun Boeuf Teriyaki and the Crispy Fried Chicken bun and they were soo soo tasty!The flavours weren't overpeowering but were so good. The service was A1,the staff was friendly and were helpful when needed. I loved the interior design of the restaurant,it had a peaceful and homey feeling to it and to add to that,the music was very soothing and made our time there nice and calm. My only issue is that the dishes there are very very light,so you would have to order almost 5 - 6 dishes if you want to be full. Other than that,I would recommend investing!

We tried the Pork Belly Bun and Peking Style smoked meat bun. Solid flavour and they actually has different textures in the Bun, soft and crunchiness from the cucumber and fried onions. They have very good fried mini bao (Sheng Jian bao), Classic Pork is full of flavor, crispy half of the bao and still juicy inside. We really love the Classic Pork bao. Shrimp fried bao is awesome, too. Price still reasonable and generous portion. The restaurant is clean and staff is super nice.

Super fresh and tasty food. I think this might be the best pork wonton I’ve had so far! The pork bun was super fresh and delicious. I wasn’t in love with the shrimp and cheese balls but they weren’t bad. And to top it all off I had this super refreshing yuzu ice tea. (It wasn’t on the menu but the staff recommended it.) The restaurant had a great ambiance and the staff were nice and friendly. A great lunch experience!

10/10, will return. Glad this place is blowing up on socials and hopefully generating more business. Staff is so incredibly polite and attentive. Specialising in bao and dumplings, I can’t even decide which disk I liked the most. Would recommend both the pork and lamb soup dumplings, but the lamb was the true winner for me! We also tried the chef’s dumpling soup (delicious) and the peking style bao (the best, especially if you like hoisin sauce). The prices are so reasonable that I expected the portions to be much smaller (hence why I ordered a soup, order of dumplings and a bao bun) but I was pleasantly surprised. In this economy! We love it. Definitely a business that deserves to thrive in the Montreal community.

Tasty food, however, this isn't authentic Chinese but sort of a fast food takeoff. We enjoyed it very much! Keep in mind the portions are small and we had to order 2.5 dishes each which made the meal expensive. Service was good.

So many different Bao Buns to chose from, that you will want to get one if each, or you do like me and bring all your pals, so you can benefit from them all. This beautiful restaurant is relax, and brings the yummies when you don't know what you want to eat. The bun was thick enough to hold all that deliciousness inside, but so soft with a slight sweetness when you bite into it. You wont regret which one you get. Just get there.

Stopped at Chef Lee on a cold day for some wonton soup and spicy wontons. Food: wonton soup was just average; spicy wontons were below average. All the wontons were heavy on dough and light on meat. Service: efficient Overall cleanliness: average

This place deserves some love for having the best Pan Fried Juicy Bao (Sheng Jian Bao). I'm from NYC and I can't believe I found the best Sheng Jian Bao all the way in Montreal lol. The best kind of SJB is: Thin skinned, crispy bottoms, juicy soup + sturdy meat filling. The SJB here meet all criteria, when the soup juice burst inside my mouth, I knew THAT'S THE ONE. The skin also can't become mushy during cooking either, and this place made it work! In pictures here I saw an order of SJB is 4, but I actually got 6 and I ate all 6 right away. Both the pork and shrimp baos are delicious. I wish I could get something like this back home... Also got other Shanghainese specialities like the Scallion Oil Noodles and Peanut Sauce Wontons. They're just ok, the baos really outshined everything. Lastly, staff are friendly and everything was easy to order.

Only had the buns here but they were delicious! Service is a bit slow so be prepared to wait around 7-10 minutes but it's very much worth it. Good flavours, friendly staff, no complaints about this place!

We were walking around and saw this place on the street corner and the menu looked interesting and we were a tiny bit hungry. This is a small but cute restaurant. We sat at the bar stools in the window. My husband got the wonton soups and I got #8 wontons Suchuan style. The wonton soup was delicious! The broth was perfect and the wontons complimented the soup nicely. The soup had some crunchy bit that really was a great snack. The wontons Suchuan style had a tiny bit of kick, I was expected more Sichuan style with numbing peppercorns but there was none of that. The oil made these really greasy, so I tried to only grab the fresh veggies and the chiles in the middle. While I loved the presentation and the different textures, I will say that these dumplings are more dough than actual filling. The filing is 1/16 teaspoon so if you are hungry, you will need to order a lot of these to get full. I would recommend the wonton soup. That is what I would prefer if I came back.

Chef Lee. Crispy Garlic Chicken. Fire. Been 100 times. Favourite 'student friendly' restaurant in MTL. -- I do however recommend to have water put on the table instead of having the servers fill your cup.

2.5. Service was friendly and warm, but food was less than ordinary. Taste was not tasty for any of the dishes we ordered (bun & dumplings). Restaurant was clean.

Got the fried baos with pork and the fried chicken steamed bao. The fried bao were super juicy and delicious. The meat was flavorful and the skin was crunchy. The steamed bao however was pretty weird. The fried chicken and the sauce wasn't a good combination with the steamed bao. It lacked some acidity to make it less greasy. The staff was nice and the price is pretty reasonable.

Food, ambiance, and service here deserve 5 stars. The owner is also the interior decorator. If you love plants the greenery here is great. My friends and I ordered the pork classic baos, Sichuan spicy wontons, and the pork bun with hoisin sauce. The flavors were on point and I highly recommend ordering the items mentioned. The wontons packed a lil heat and the baos had a nice crispy texture to them. The restaurant is very clean. The sauce containers were spotless and so was our table. This is a great place for dumplings and Chinese food.

My friend recommended me this place because it offers delicious baos, which are steamed Chinese buns. The buns are either salty or sweet (with taro paste, taro is an Asian favorite ingredient for dessert, it's purple and its texture is like sweet potato). I tried their pork and shrimp buns, both of them are great! I didn't find their papaya salad so exceptional, and their lamb brochettes are too salty. Their menu is still quite small, hopefully there will be more options soon!

Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the lamb. Service was excellent. I suggest trying a wide variety of dishes especially the pork dumplings.

I decided to try out this food place because it's close by and fairly new. It's a small place, very clean with some cute decor.I decided to sit at the window bar and watch the people go by since it is at a very busy corner. The menu is quite limited so I ordered the Schezwan wontons which were okay, I didn't find them that spicy and were really small.I did order crispy chicken Bao buns and beef teriyaki buns. They were big. I was in and out quite fast. Food did not take long after order. Overall it was okay. I've experienced much better in both these dishes. Try it out, you may have a different opinion.

We really enjoyed the soup, spicy dumplings and bao. The bao was unexpected and delicious. Kind of an oversized dumpling, but I preferred it. The filling was 4x what I have experienced in bao and much thinner dough and I prefer this version.

i have eaten here a handful of times and gotten takeout a couple times as well. the buns are always super delicious and the soup is tasty! i find that 2-3 buns are enough per person + apps to share in a group. they recently changed the menu and i'm so excited to try the new buns! service isn't slow here, its just a small restaurant with a lot of takeout orders and because of that i think people expect fast food. the food takes as much time to be ready as it takes to cook... ive always had attentive service & reasonable wait times here.
