"Fans have flocked to Chef Ping for more than six decades, delighting in its robust Korean-Chinese menu and family-friendly dining room. Regulars praise its consistency — a feat in light of its tenure — and favorites like jajang myuen and fu chi fae pian (Sichuan spice-marinated beef and tripe)." - Naomi Waxman, Eater Staff

"Chef Ping might seem unassuming, as it sits in a typical suburban strip mall, repurposed from its former life as an outpost of Chicago-area chain Bakers Square. Don’t make the mistake of judging this book by its cover. The giant menu features Chinese-American classics mingled with Korean-American fare. From noodles to dumplings, the suburbs are lucky to have such a quality restaurant. Order online." - Ashok Selvam, Naomi Waxman

My daughter and I were craving Asian food and so we took a glance at reviews for nearby places. Chef Ping came up pretty well with the reviews and well let’s say they didn’t disappoint. Service was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered are usual favorites and tried something new. We ordered the Mongolian beef, Pad Thai Noodles, Sesame Chicken, Shrimp Dumplings Soup, Crab Ragon, and Chef Pings Seafood Combo. Everything came out quick, it was fresh and hot, it wasn’t as fully flavorful as I would have liked but it still had flavor. Portions were good, we both ate and took home full boxes leftovers of each dish. Would definitely recommend. Clean, Fresh and Friendly!!!

We came here close to 8 pm. You’ll find parking in the front, side, and back of the restaurant. We only had to wait a min before they seated us. Service was superb throughout dinner. Our server put in our orders immediately. It took 10 mins to get all of our orders. We ordered walnut shrimp, crispy fried intestine, Ping’s chicken wing, and 8 treasure. I’m going to tell you right off the bat, that portions were never reduced. They still make large portions enough to take home. I know one or two people said they think the restaurant reduced the portions but they’re wrong. Remember folks, don’t listen to anyone with less than 8 reviews. I would encourage everyone that reads this, to try out dishes they normally don’t eat. Get away from all of the typical Americanized Chinese dishes like Mongolian beef, sesame chicken, kung pao something, etc. -Walnut shrimp 5/5 - shrimp is of substantial size, I was surprised to see how large they are. They were beautifully cooked and well sauced. -Crispy fried intestine 5/5 - very tender, moist, and full of flavor. You want to take a piece, lightly dip it in the salt, and eat it with white rice. That way, if it gets too salty, the white rice will help lessen that saltiness. -Ping’s chicken wing 5/5 - skin was very crispy. I love hearing that light crunch when you bite into it. Good amount of sauce for flavor. It wasn’t spicy. -8 treasure 5/5 - this one has sea cucumber which is pretty expensive if you look further on the menu. You get 8 different ingredients in here. They do have some peppers, I would avoid them if you don’t want your mouth on fire.

The service is spotty. Even when it's not busy, it's rare to get a water refill. The service is like they're always busy even when they are not. That being said... the food is 100% worth it anyway. I LOVE Pings noodle soup and noodle platter. Both so good.

This is a very authentic Chinese restaurant, what more their prices are very reasonable compared to Ming Hin restaurant in the area. We like their eggplant, yellow chai with pork, jellyfish salad, all very good and fast too. On weekends you need to be here by 6pm or expect a long wait.

Comfortable seating, adequate portions, affordable pricing with a bar available. Orders are served promptly. Service is average. The Juicy-juicy fried chicken wings were somewhat small but deliciously crispy. The string beans were fresh and juicy, with a satisfying crunch. The addition of pickled cabbage elevated the string beans dish. The fish fillet with wood ear mushrooms was perfectly cooked and pleasantly light.

Google
Authentic Chinese restaurant in Chicago. Very busy.. somewhat difficult to find a parking on weekends.. we visited on Sunday and it was pretty busy so we waited almost for half an hour to be seated.. their service was pretty fast..food was great.. authentic Chinese....price are very reasonable... appetizers are cheaper compared to other Chinese restaurants. the food quality and quality both are really awesome...they have a bar .overall I loved it..will visit again..

Google
Very delicious Chinese food. I would highly recommend sweet-and-sour, chicken, spicy, shrimp, and Mongolian beef. Food was delicious, hot and serve quickly. We got one of the tables with the spinning Lazy Susan, which was perfect for a party of eight. This way everybody could share all the meals.

Google
Food was good but not as good as Ming Ping. The crab ragoon at Ming Ping were also bigger and tasted better. This place is a 4 star, Ming Ping is a 5 star. 👍

Yelp
To anyone who's reviewed anything under 5 stars is straight up not taking into account how this is the best Chinese food you're going to get in the suburbs... Yes, the place is busy which should indicate as to the quality of food served here. I'd recommend ordering take out in advance if you're not willing to wait. I've been going here since the Chef left Yu's Mandarin down the street and it's still remained the best I've had in the suburbs.

Yelp
We came by for dinner on a Saturday night. There were 6 of us, we had called ahead to try to make a reservation but they told us that the tables were first come first serve. We came by around 5pm and were quoted 45 minutes for our table. And we decided to wait, hoping that it may be shorter but it truly was the full 45 minutes. Once seated it took about 5 minutes for someone to over to us to bring us waters. But after that we were ready to order so we put everything in at once and told them to bring it out as it is ready because we were READY to eat. Surprisingly all of the food came out quickly. We started with the crab shu Mai after being recommended it, unfortunately it was not a fave at our table. We also got the jelly fish salad, and the juicy wings. The wings were super flavorful and crispy, while the jelly fish salad wasn't my cup of tea, my parents said it reminded them of their childhood and they loved it. For our entrees we got the salt and pepper Japanese tofu, walnut shrimp, Mongolian beef, pineapple fried rice, canton flat noodles and a few other dishes. We loved all of them. The only thing we wish was that the fried rice, was more fried. It tasted like fresh rice with all of the ingredients rather than a true fried rice. But all of our dishes were fresh, not salty, not sweet and the portions were great for sharing and for the price. I wish we got to see a drink menu, we would've ordered some but I did get told they don't have fruit smoothies either. All in all, we had a great experience. But I think I will result to ordering carry out in the future rather than waiting for dine in.

Yelp
Good food, good service, clean place. Was suggested as meeting spot for Dinner with a friend who worked close by. Seem to be a go to spot for many Asians. Price was very reasonably for the neighborhood & was more than worth it for the taste & selections. We ordered Hunan Beef & Chicken, Crab Shu Mai, Crab Rangoon, Szechwan Fish Fillet, Ping's Noodle Platter, all were satisfyingly good. Their cocktails satisfactory. Overall a good dinner at a nice place and it's on my list of places to eat when next in or around Chicago.

Yelp
Honestly, not worth coming here. Don't get me wrong, the food is okay. Flavor is more toward the bland side and needs just a little more. Rice was cooked with too much water, making it mushy. Nothing to write home about. Service was mediocre, with waters taking a while to be re-filled. Tl;dr: Bland-ish food, bad service

Yelp
King mushroom with tofu was a surprise hit! Sauted peapod was amazing. The gan pong family menu is killer, as is the jampong (spicy seafood noodle soup). We usually come here for family birthdays and celebrations, arriving early to beat the line and get a big table for all the delicious food!

Yelp
I've lived in Arlington Heights for 25 years and have been going to another Chinese restaurant the whole time, but I met a friend at Chef Ping for lunch today. Let me set the stage--it was a Tuesday around lunch time, and the place was packed! Service was good. Now for the food... I ordered kung pao chicken, and it was delicious! The rice was really good. The veggies were fresh and tasty. I asked for a milder sauce and it was perfect. I think I found my new favorite Chinese restaurant : ) Highly recommended!

Yelp
Chef Ping is my go-to for delicious Asian food. I've been going here for years, and this place has been very consistent in service and food quality. Food: The menu is quite extensive with a variety of Chinese, Korean, and other Asian cuisine. The food is always fresh and taste very good. My family and I regularly order the following: Szechuan Beef (comes with rice), Ping's Noodle Platter, and Walnut Shrimp (our favorites). I've recently tried the Mango Chicken (comes with rice), which was pretty good. The portions are a good size, especially for sharing amongst 4 to 5 people. Even with 4 to 5 people sharing, we couldn't finish every dish, so there was a good amount to take home for leftovers. Service: Everyone is friendly and and the waiters/waitresses serve the food fairly quickly (depends on what dishes you order as they make it fresh). They are attentive when it comes to refilling water or tea, and if you need other utensils like chopsticks (they give you forks by default). Price: While it may seem a bit high, I say it's fair given the portions and ingredients in each dish. Seafood dishes are high, of course, but dishes like Walnut Shrimp are reasonable. In that dish, they give you good-sized shrimp pieces and a decent amount of it. Ambiance: it's a decent sized place with a simple modern, dark look. They have a room for bigger parties in the back of the restaurant, and spacing between tables and booths are a little close to one another, but manageable even when it's busy. Chef Ping is definitely worth going to for some delicious Asian cuisine. It can get really busy when it opens (around 11 am/1130am) and around prime time dinner time (6pm-7pm), so I recommend going an hour or 2 after each time period. Although on weekends they can get busy even after an hour or 2 of opening or dinner time.

Yelp
Love love this place. Amazing food , great customer service and excellent atmosphere

Yelp
I am very disappointed, I ordered food for pick up..... my surprise The portions were very small. So I don't recommend carry out, don't get me wrong. The food is fantastic and the portions are big when you dine in. Unless someone made a mistake in the kitchen.

Yelp
This is the 5th time we tried dining here! Every other time we left disappointed because of the long wait time. Today when we pulled into the parking lot at 2pm there were quite a few empty parking spaces (which is very rare) we waited less than 10 minutes to be seated (yippee) the restaurant is clean and there is plenty of seating in booths, tables, or booth table combo seating. The booths are big and can seat 4 large people comfortably or 6 smaller people with ease. The menu has lots of variety, so it will be easy to find something for everyone in your group. They gave us a pot of hot tea and water while we were looking over the menu. We ordered the egg rolls and they were so crispy and yummy! I ordered the egg drop soup (it has veggies and tofu in it) My husband ordered the wonton soup and loved it. For our entree's my husband ordered the combination chow mein and I ordered the noodle platter. Our dinner cost $40 for the two of us which was a great deal for what we received. Our waitress was very kind and quick. She removed our dishes from the table quickly and gave us our next course without delay. Amazing service and food! We will be back again with friends!

Yelp
Super busy almost always! We love to sit at the bar for their best service where it seems the food gets prepared the quickest. My favorite Asian restaurant in Illinois with so many vegetarian options since I only eat veggies, beans, and fruits now. It has become part of my regular weekly rotation especially after a long week of work. While it may be time for the restaurant to have an interior update and refresh, the food is on point and the staff are mainly seasoned veterans. I enjoy all their vegetarian options from their house made vegetarian chicken made from tofu skin, the slightly spicy salt and pepper tofu, curry mixed vegetables, eggplant szechwan, to their sautéed pea-pod tips and shredded potatoes. My only wish is a location near the West suburbs so I don't have to drive 1.5 hours round trip weekly. Until then, I'll make the weekly trek as it's so worth it.

Yelp
Great selection and flavorful dishes across the menu! Quick service and waitress wanted to take our orders right when we sat down, can I open the menu first?!? environment if the place is nice and nothing out of the ordinary Asian restaurant. The food is where this place really shines. If you go to P.F Changs....yall need to stop going there and put this in your top 3 in the suburbs!

Dennis W.

Yelp
The place is a hidden gem in the northern suburbs. The food here is authentic Chinese and also has options for more Americanized cuisine. The waitress recommended I tried the sweet sour fish, broiled clay pot fish, whole duck, and sizzling beef and it did not disappoint. Quality- this place shines here. Everything had some depth of flavor and if you get the right dishes, you have a mix of hot, dry, crunchy food that compliments the wet, savory food. The duck was really crispy and cooked well. The fish dishes were soft and the skin absorbed all the flavor in the pot. The seafood pot was milder, not overly salted and had a good mix of different seafood. Quantity- it is not bad. I got a decent amount for the price. Atmosphere- I liked the homey feel the place had. There was enough space between the tables so you're not packed like sardines during rush hour. Service- good service. No complaints here

Yelp
Chef Ping is still one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. Although they've done away with lunch specials, the entrees are generously portioned and are delicious. Dining area is clean and AC is nice and cool! Service is excellent as our waiter took our order right away and all the food came out piping hot. We had shrimp egg rolls (more like finger sticks), Kung Pao chicken and shrimp, Hunan spicy Chicken, vegetable fried rice and the vegetable noodle platter. Their hot chili oil is A+! It's different than all the other Asian restaurants. The flavor has a bit of a smoky undertone and it's pulpy which helps it cling to rice and meat dishes!

Ashley A.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place using yelp while visiting this area to find good Chinese food! My hometown has very little option for any decent Chinese food and this place did not disappoint! Went on a Friday evening and the place was packed, luckily we didn't have to wait for a table, we got there at the right time because once we were finished, there were several people waiting to be seated. We ordered the Mongolian beef, walnut, shrimp, crispy, pork, and chow mein combination. Every dish was fresh and had lots of flavor. I would get all of these dishes again! Our waiter was extremely nice and service was good overall. Would 100% recommend this place, and I will return in the future whenever I'm in the area!

Bella D.

Yelp
The food I had was actually really delicious. I had been at this place a few times prior to this review, but today I had a surprisingly good experience. If could be because I haven't been here in a long time, but I didn't have high expectations. I remember my last experience here as unpleasant. But today was different. From the photos, the food was fresh and steaming hot when it got to my table. The fried rice was delicious, very flavorful, and the sho mai was good, more dense than usual, however. I wasn't able to take a photo of the fried intestines, but it was okay. It was bland, but very fatty and delicious. The ambiance was busy as usual, I recommend making a reservation Frist because the wait can be long. The service on the other hand was okay, our waiter was very kind and was willing to give us what we needed asap. Overall, you experience completely depends on the time and day. Wether the people working are in a good mood, you shouldn't have high expect ions. Which is why I'm giving this place a lower rating. Plus, this place isn't that different/unique from other Chinese restaurants. I would still recommend though.

Joanne C.

Yelp
I'd say this is pretty average tasting Chinese food for its price. We did family style and the best tasting was the eggplant dish. Our chicken dish was kind of dry. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back here when visiting, but I know the locals think more highly of the restaurant! Table for 4 was pretty small to do family style.

Ravi Kiran T.

Yelp
I was helping a friend of mine moving into her place and I was treated to this delicious lunch at Chef Ping. I never been to Korean Chinese restaurant and this one was perfect for me to try it out. All items were absolutely flavorful. Stand outs were Szechuan Eggplant and noodles with Black bean sauce. Inside of the restaurant had great ambiance - has a bar too. Highly recommend!

Sajani P.

Yelp
I recently had a delightful dinner with my neighbors and my mom to celebrate both her birthday and our neighbor's birthday. The restaurant we visited was absolutely fantastic, earning a perfect 10 out of 10 in my book. Our waitress, Cathy, made our dining experience even more enjoyable with her pleasant and sweet demeanor. Although we were too hungry to take photos, Cathy recommended some incredible dishes, and we opted for family-style dining, sharing several mouthwatering dishes. The vegetable eggplant with white rice was a standout - crispy and delicious, with enough for a satisfying second meal. The chicken fried rice and vegetable fried rice were cooked to perfection, and the beef and broccoli, shrimp, curry, and vegetable curry dishes were all expertly prepared, with just the right level of spiciness. Cathy provided excellent service, and I would definitely return to dine with her again. I highly recommend giving this place a try - it's conveniently located on Algonquin Road in 53, and you can even take a short walk to Oberweis for dessert. I encourage you to visit this charming little restaurant and hope you have the pleasure of being served by Cathy.

Yelp
For a Wednesday night, the restaurant was super busy. Good thing we made reservations. Our sever was accommodating with our large group and even served the cake we brought in for a small 100 day celebration for my daughter. There's the main dining room and another room for larger parties. The Peking duck was delicious. We also got the salt and pepper shrimp, crispy and salty. Another favorite dish was the shrimp toast. Definitely recommend getting a reservation because this place is definitely good with some authentic Chinese dishes.

Hans H.

Yelp
I can for quick lunch and order lunch special Kung Pao Chicken and Shrimp and it came with Egg Drop or Won Ton sou0p. I decided on the egg drop which was good made with tofu and small shrimp which was a nice touch. It would have been nice to get some fried wonton to put in the soup. The green tea was ok, I expected better from a Chinese restaurant. The Kung Pao was really good the chicken and shrimp were cooked to perfection and the sauce was very good. It did have a lot of pepper but the sauce was not hot.

Vib M.

Yelp
Nice restaurant that is always packed. Food here is good and flavorful. They give good quantity of food for one person. The service could be better as the staff has hard time understanding, but they make an effort. Overall we were happy and would recommend this place for family dining.

Yelp
In April 2010, my wife and I were looking for the first apartment ever in Chicago suburbs. After looking around a few places, we ended up coming to Chef Ping for lunch. This place was my first-time-ever Chinese restaurant in the area, and I ordered my first-time-ever Chinese fried rice, which later became my favorite fried rice in the area for a long time. Before moving to Chicago area, I was in Japan. Every time I went to a Chinese restaurant, I tried the fried rice as a test item of each place. For 13 years I tried many other Chinese restaurants in Chicago suburbs, and today I found their fried rice is still my very favorite. They have several different fried rice on the menu, but pick from combination fried rice, young chow fried rice or ham fried rice. All of three are my best three. We also ordered shrimp egg rolls ("shrimp cigars" as so called), and Szechuan eggplant. Shrimp egg rolls are thin and crispy egg rolls with fluffy minced shrimp in it. There is a sweet sauce and spicy mustard on the table, so you can dip them in for your taste. Szechuan eggplant is our favorite vegetarian menu there. Skin is so crispy but eggplants inside are even "creamy" when served. Spicy and a little sweet thick sauce gives the punch of flavors but does not interfere the crispness and eggplant's flavor itself. Unfortunately this dish does NOT travel well. As you take it home, all crispy skin gets softened up, and eggplant loses its creaminess. But I still love the flavor. I did not order this time, but I also loved their broccoli beef, walnut shrimp, noodle soup called champon, sesame chicken and fried fish dish (I forgot the name). Thank you, Chef Ping for feeding us for 13 years. I truly appreciate your consistent best-ness over years.

Mitch S.

Yelp
I had read Chicago was a vast wasteland for Chinese food. Luckily, I stumbled upon Chef Pong and was more than pleasantly surprised. Everything I ate and everything I saw near me looked amazing. I hold a specific place in my heart for the most incredible Pork Shu Mei I've ever had. If you are in the area, you'll want to give Chef Ping a try.

Sara H.

Yelp
Jjampong seafood noodle soup and the summer salad yangjangpi is delish! Great service and happy eaters. Servers and bartender and managers very nice too!

Susan M.

Yelp
Been to Chef Ping several times. Service is not the greatest. Big wait on drinks. Many times they mess up your meal with the wrong ingredients, If you try to tell them, they say next time we will make it better. What! The sauces are not consistent so maybe it's different cooks making the same disk differently.

Jacqueline R.

Yelp
The best, fresh and fast Chinese food. Been coming here for years with husband and kids. Service is quick and food comes out fast. Perfect for dinner with young kids. Great mai tais. We always get the egg rolls, almond chicken and sesame chicken and never disappointed. Only downside is their wait times can get long during dinner times.

Amy N.

Yelp
I used to come here pretty often, but stopped coming for over a year now. It just wasn't as good as it was. My mom wanted to come for Mother's Day so we took her and the whole experience just confirmed that I would not be coming back again. We went around 3:00 and there were tables full but luckily the wait was only 15 minutes. The hostess was very pleasant and nice. Our waiter on the other hand was the total opposite. Not attentive at all and when we asked for obvious needed items and refills it got done with barely any acknowledgment from him. All tables around us that came in and ordered after us all got their food as we sat and sat until I asked the waiter about it. He said because they were busy, which is very understandable but I think our order was accidentally not put in.The mango chicken I ordered had a very slimy textured sauce. All other entrees were ok. For a table of 5 an 18% gratuity was pre added to bill. So luckily I looked it over and didn't double tip.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Chef Ping is SO good. I ordered for pick up recently after reading all of the rave reviews and the food definitely lived up to the hype! Everything I ordered was super flavorful, fresh, and delicious. It was super busy in there, even on a week day night, so if you're looking to dine in- I would recommend arriving early if you don't want to wait! It looked very nice inside with cozy looking tables and booths. I'm looking forward to coming back to dine in another time!

Brian D.

Yelp
Chef Ping is a traditional Chinese restaurant (not Americanized) and every time I've been in here it's been busy. There's a small bar just past the hostess stand for those dining alone. We started with the Fu Chi Fae Pian, which is their signature Szechwan dish. Thin sliced beef and tripe soaked in red hot spices. It's cold. Yeah, that's right, cold. And it's fantastic. If you like spice, don't pass it up. The egg rolls are very good, and I'd suggest them, but we preferred the Fu Chi Fae Pian. I always order my Orange Chicken spicy. And I think it really makes the dish unique. Just the right balance of sweet and spicy. We also got the Seafood Tofu Casserole and the Hot Braised Fish on previous trips. Also very good, lots of flavor and well prepared. The service here is polite and attentive. Even when busy they'll make sure to check on you. Good recommendations as well. If you want Traditional Chinese in the burbs, look no further than Chef Ping. 5 stars.

Joli S.

Yelp
Exellent Food!!! The place was packed on a hum day, too!!! Enjoyed a wonderful food experience with my kids and didn't have to drive down to China town. Which we love too!

Michael R.

Yelp
Amazing Asian food, this is my go to place. I love it. Great food, great service, but on the weekends they are very crowded. So get there early carry out is wonderful.

Yadira V.

Yelp
I absolutely love this restaurant. The food is always hot fresh delicious and great portion size. The service is good and they are always friendly towards us specially my you g daughter. The restaurant is always full and buzzing which is great. A lot of large groups/family gatherings. A lot of Asian people visit which i always think is a great sign for the food being delicious and authentic. Prices are reasonable and like i mentioned before the portions are great for sharing. This will forever be one of my favorite restaurants. The restaurant inside and out is very clean and also the bathrooms are clean and smell fresh. They are very quick so you wont be waiting for long to receive your food.

Yelp
It's been over 5 years, and a whole pandemic, since I last reviewed Chef Ping. Let's start with the service, which I had major issues before. They've gotten so much better. Their staff have now been consistently Chinese-speaking, very efficient and accurate when taking orders. I can tell them the dishes I want in Chinese and they get it and don't have an attitude like the previous staff. 5/5 on that. Food wise, we have never ever had any issue. They have absolutely top-notch Chinese food. Definitely getting more and more expensive since the pandemic, but totally worth it to splurge once in a while. Sautéed fish fillet-- is our go-to dish because our kids love the sea bass, tender and the flavor is just right for them, not too overwhelming sweet or savory. Vegetarian chicken-- we love how the tofu skin folds and the texture has a nice chew to it. Flavor is savory and sweet, definitely 100% tastes like what I remembered from childhood. Can never go wrong with this one. King mushroom tofu-- this is a go-to for a lot of people. The king mushroom is super flavorful and fresh. Combined with the fried soft tofu, added in slightly sweetened flavor profile. Everyone likes it. It's a bit too flavorful for my toddler, but my pre-teen likes this just fine. Mongolian beef-- this is really well made. The onion is cooked just right, reminds me of my grandma's cooking. Beef is very tender, and didn't even need to be coated to be tender. Portion size is good too. This definitely is sweeter than the rest of the foods we ordered. Sweet but not overwhelming, since it has the roasted pepper and onion flavor also. Sautéed pea tip-- this is a favorite for many also, and one of our go-tos also. Peatip is hard to come by and it's always so tender, meaning that their base ingredient is of high quality. The garlic is not over toasted so not bitter. This is sautéed just right you get the aroma and taste and texture. I think it's totally worth the price given the decent quantity.

Yelp
As a Chinese, it is the first and only time that I got discriminated at a Chinese restaurant. My American friend wanted to try this place since we have never been here. The server was an old Chinese man. He was very impatient when he took my order. At first I told him what I wanted in Chinese because he is also Chinese. But He frowned and said "what" impatiently as if I said something wrong. I felt bad and sorry and switched to English immediately though he could understand what I said in Chinese. He was unhappy and impatient the whole time he took my order. At that time I thought he just didn't like his job. Then I saw him talking to an American customer nicely. Later while I was eating with my friend, that server brought two sauce from a table and handed it to my friend. My friend said "I don't need it, give it to her". The old man server said "it is for you, not for her". Then he left with the sauce laughing. Neither of my friend nor me asked for any sauce. And we were sharing all the food. Whatever we ate was the same. I don't know why the server brought the sauce to us and acted like that. My friend was also confused why the old man server gave me attitude. What the he did was really not funny. It is the first time that I went there. I don't understand why he was so rude to me. And both my friend and I got sick the next day after eating their food. There are many better Chinese restaurants in that area with much better food and better service worth going to. Thank you sir for letting me know that I'm not welcome to your restaurant. I will stay away and never come again.

Yelp
Came to Chef Ping yesterday because I'm craving for seafood noodles ( Jiangbong) . Ordered ahead via phone calls. And it took about 25 mins to get the order ready cause they were super busy. Well, Chef Ping is always busy. Lines were extended out of the room. Staff here are super friendly and they can speak mandarin as well which is super convenient for me and my grandparents to order here. Ordered bok choy, jiangbong, and clam soup for two ppl. The clam soup is delicious! I felt warm and comfortable after drinking the soup. Bok Choy is crunchy and healthy. Love this dish. Jiangbong is better than most Korean restaurant.

Yelp
Food is great. Service... no complaints thus far. My only issue: can you open one more at a location a bit closer?

Yelp
My husband and I order takeout from here once a week and It never disappoints! Everything we've had is amazing but our favorite is the Thai chicken curry. Today is the first time we've dined in and the service was great. It is ALWAYS so busy for lunch and dinner so we were surprised to get seated right away. 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
this place never disappoints! (except if i have to wait for a table because this place is always jam packed) this restaurant has one of the best korean style chinese dishes like the black bean sauce noodles (jjajangmyun) and seafood noodle soup (jjampong)! those 2 are always my go-tos as well as their kkampoong shrimp ( fried shrimp) and they are also know for their lollipop chicken wings! i've also had their pad thai which is pretty good and their chicken curry dish. highly recommend coming here on a weeknight as weekends are busy all day long. i've done takeout here before but has to wait 40 min. yikes! i think it definitely says a lot about the popularity of this place

Yelp
LEGIT Chinese which is sooo hard to find in Chicagoland outside of Chinatown. They don't play around with service. They are quick so you should be ready to order and may need to flag down a server because they are hustlin'!

Yelp
Made a reservation and boy am I glad we did. The lines for a table was long. We celebrated my son's birthday and of course he loved it all. On the menu however, it states "let us know if you are celebrating a special event" so I did. At the end of the meal, the wait staff brought him a small bowl of vanilla ice cream. No chocolate sauce, no sprinkles, nothing, just a plain bowl of vanilla ice cream. My son didn't care one way or another but I thought it was minimal at best.

Yelp
Since it's been over 11 years since I last reviewed Pings it's time for an update. News Flash is still Amazing and the best Asian restaurant in the area if not the state. Everything from the menu to the service and most importantly the food is steller. Never had a bad dish, from the standard Chinese American dishes (the Sesame Chicken is amazing) to the more unique dish such as one of our favorite things ever their Fu Chi Fae Pian appetizer a traditional Chengdu street food dish of beef and tripe with chile oil and Sichuan peppercorns and cilantro in a cold salad kinda thing. It's just an awesome combination of heat and texture. If I haven't been recently I always have to get Ping's Noodle Platter, I have been getting it since he was at his old restaurant before Pings. Recently we have been getting that great Pork and Pickled Cabbage, I'm not sure it's even on the menu, we just ask for it and it comes. If you like asian food and have never been it's a big miss in your life, it's really one of the best restaurants period in the NW Burbs

Yelp
Awesome food, great service and nice ambiance every single time. Everything was shared with our party of ten. We enjoyed everything we ordered. This is one of our favorite go to places when in the Chicagoland (Rolling Meadows) area. Delicious food every time, you can't go wrong but I do recommend making reservations. The best pong pong chicken, Lemon chicken, pork belly, shrimp fried rice, mo-shu pork, everything is just wonderful and very tasty. This place stays busy but the service is quick and great. I would recommend coming here for anything on the menu. Something for everyone for sure. I will come back here every time I come to Chicago and will come again before leaving back home.

Yelp
This area has barely any Chinese food...and thus, the comparison is hard. Tried eating inside a few times, the waits and crowdedness are tough. Parking is always a good indication how swamped it is. We've had better luck with take out, which ranges from 15-75 minutes based on day/time. Weekends are roughly 45 mins. Food selection is abundant and it has all the classics you would hope for in your heart. Food has always been made well, but it's fairly standard.

Yelp
I personally was not a fan of the taste of anything I had. I ordered take out so I cannot speak on the ambiance or the service.

Yelp
Food solid here. I would say the best Korean-Chinese food in the area. If there was a 4.5 stars option I would say Chef Ping is a 4.5 star restaurant. Crispy tang soo yook, springy/savory jajang myuen, heart warming champoong, along with a variety of other items. The food is delicious and ingredients are fresh (especially, the seafood). Service is overall good! The main servers are consistent, but there have been times where service was a bit spotty. I recommend you check it out if you are a fan of Chinese food! Trust, this is the spot for jajang myuen! If you know you know.

Yelp
Still a great Chinese food option, with a variety of authentic dishes and Americanized. I did note the majority of non-Chinese people clientele here, but don't let that fool you; if you're looking for some hard to find authentic Chinese food dishes, Chef Ping still offers them and gets it right

Yelp
Chef Ping continues to have really good Americanized Chinese food in the Northwest suburbs. Family told me a while back that the exec chef of 'Yu's Chinese' decided to open his own restaurant and this is the result. We needed to order a lot of carryout for a party, so went with the classics. We ordered comb fried rice, y-chow fried rice, Combination chow mein noodles, twice cooked pork, mongolian beef, and sesame chicken. None of the dishes were outstanding (i.e. the best example of what I've had of that dish), but they were good. All the sauces were flavorful and different from each other (and not too corn starchey). The fried rice was not too oily and had a good balance of rice, egg, vegetables, and meat. The twice cooked pork was really good, loved the tofu that comes with it. The chow mein was disappointing...one really can't tell what chow mein will be...here, it is lo mein (imo), but it did have generous amount of chicken. The mongolian beef had real good flavor, and a nice mix of onions and green onions. I actually preferred eating that with just the sauce, and not the provided meat (which was generous but slightly mushy and not crispy or crunchy at all). Portions are average (definitely not overflowing the container as some folks said), but it is good value. Everything listed came out under $90, and the food was prepared and given over ahead of their estimate of 30 minutes. At the party, the group probably finished half, so we had some of it as leftovers the next time...and it reheated and tasted very well. Chef Ping continues to be part of our rotation of Chinese restaurants in the Northwest suburbs.
