The Ultimate Guide to Dining in Sandy Springs

"This father and son-owned Caribbean spot opened in 2006. Chef Robert Gayle is a native of Jamaica and came to the States as a teenager. He graduated from the Culinary Institute of America, and while having mastered traditional cooking techniques, he found himself moved to cook the food of his history in Atlanta. Jerk egg rolls, braised beef oxtail, ackee saltfish, curried goat, blue crab soup, coco bread – you’ll be mentally out of Sandy Springs and in the Caribbean as soon as that plate hits the table." - Su-Jit Lin

Best Caribbean and Jamaican Restaurants in Atlanta - Eater Atlanta

"After gaining prominence in the kitchen at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ now-shuttered soul food restaurant Justin’s, Chef Rob opened his own restaurant in Sandy Springs. Part-lounge and part-restaurant, this Caribbean establishment is designed for good times. The mango chicken (one of the most popular menu items) is a large and comforting dish of savory seared poultry topped with sweet slices of fruit. For something more manageable, try the pina colada-glazed shrimp skewers, the cocktail-sized beef and chicken patties, or sautéed blue crab claws in white wine or creamy jerk sauce. Late night food offerings here also include those claws as well as crab cakes and a roasted jerk chicken plate. All can be paired with a tropical rum punch and other Caribbean cocktails." - Mike Jordan

Been there twice in 2 weeks and would go back again. Food was flavorful and service was great. Shrimp skewers and garlic coco bread are my favorites. Even drinks were so good.

Google
I visited Chef Robs restaurant and left extremely disappointed. I ordered the oxtail plate, which cost $40, and the portion size was shockingly miniature. On top of that, the food was bland and lacked the authentic Jamaican flavor you would expect. While the staff was friendly, the service was not on par with the automatic 18% gratuity added to the bill for a party of just two. At one point, my drink sat at the bar for a good 10 minutes before it was brought to me. The food quality overall was unsatisfactory — the sautéed vegetables were cold, and despite the high prices, the dishes felt thrown together. A major red flag was that rice and peas were not included with the oxtail, which is typically a standard part of the meal at any authentic Jamaican restaurant. On top of everything, they charged $3 for a bottle of water that was clearly Sam’s Club quality, just rebranded with a Chef Rob label slapped on the front. All of these details point to what felt like another typical Atlanta money grab: overpriced, underwhelming, and ultimately a waste of time and money. This is not a place I would recommend or plan on returning to.

Google
Came here for the first time yesterday cause I heard decent things. Ordered a flavored mojito, curry chicken, Mac & cheese, plantain, rice & peas and the jerk pasta. Jerk pasta was decent, with shrimp & crawfish. The dish was very saucy. My only critique is that a nice piece of bread on the side would be good. Flavored Mojito-Mango: I didn’t really drink it. It just tasted like bottom shelf alcohol. You don’t taste the mint, lime or mango. Seems like them lime is one that was not ripe and didn’t produce juice, so when it was mulled, we got the bitterness of the lime rind. Curry Chicken Plate: Mac & cheese was not bad, just a little loose for it to be baked. Plantains were good. But the curry chicken and rice had absolutely no flavor, not even salt. The curry seems like they had left over curry and boiled new chicken in it. I wouldn’t come back. The whole plate just lacked seasoning, not just salt, but the simple seasoning you expect in any island dish. Service: Decent but nothing overwhelming. Atmosphere: Nice sit down spot that you can tell probably livens up at night.

When I tell you a time was had last night at Chef Rob restaurant 7/5:25. There were six in our party. Ambience was nice and our waitress Renee was on point. The Chef came to the table to ensure that we were all good a few times. The food was delicious: stir fry with grouper, stir fir with chicken, mango chicken, oxtails, barbecue shrimp, crab cakes, shrimp egg rolls and that garlic coco bread was so good that I placed an order to go. The food was well seasoned. The drinks were strong and good. I would certainly recommend and I will be back. I understand that food prices have gone up and so has everything else that we consumers utilize daily…so move accordingly.

Google
Everything was very flavorful and fresh. I’ll definitely be coming back. The jerk chicken was some of the best I’ve had in the city and the oxtails were good too as well as the drinks.

Google
Bar service was amazing and the food was even better. I do think their menu items are fairly priced. The blue crab soup was my favorite and I can't wait to go back for it! Went during happy hour time so it wasn't as busy and was seated right away. Music was also a vibe, but the space could be a little bigger and there wasn't much of a waiting area. Only thing I didn't like was the hookah available so early in the evening. If that's the case then there should be some advertising of a 'hookah bar' as well.

Google
Nicky was our server! She had a great attitude, and gave us some great food suggestions. The food was prepared well. Drinks were on point too! I’ll be returning! Thanks Chef Rob!

Google
Definitely not worth the price, received very small portions, somewhat tasty but just not worth it would not order again

Yelp
I arrived early. I was seated quickly despite my party being late. The atmosphere was lively, the music was Caribbean. The weight staff were bustling around taking care of tables. The restaurant was clean and orderly. Once my friend arrived, we all ordered cocktails. Two of us had one punch and the other one had an old-fashioned with a maraschino cherry. Prior to the meal - I asked out lovely server if we can have separate checks. I was told that that would be no problem since it was only a party of three. My friends ordered mango chicken and the other, an oxtail dish. I ordered the combination of oxtail and curry goat. Everything came out hot and fresh... Even my not so garlic cocoa bread came out before the meal. At the end of our meal, the DJ arrived, and the spontaneous fog started. Cute vibes! Our server returned and asked us if we wanted one check or if we were going to be splitting the checks. To me that means that I would pay for what I bought and vice versa. To our server, that split the check three ways. An effort to just keep it pushing, We let it fly.. Because the service was good, we don't mind the 18% automatic ratatouille that's added to your check. It's been quite some time since I've had an opportunity to die in here. In the past, I ordered for my companies inventory meals. It's always been amazing and it still is in my opinion. I look forward to coming back.

Yelp
What a pleasant DoorDash order. The reviews are sort of mixed on this restaurant, but I took the gamble and ordered the Rasta Pasta added spinach, and garlic coco bread. Both were delish! The pasta had a touch of spice, creamy, flavorful. The coco bread was buttery, toasted, slightly sweet and so good sopping up the pasta sauce. Thanks Chef Rob- I'll have to stop in next time. Try it for yourself!

Yelp
I came here on a Wednesday night and was quickly seated. We ordered shrimp egg rolls and seafood dip. Both were really good. I ordered the choose 2 for$35..ox tails and Jerk chicken with Rice and peas(added), collards and plantains. It wasn't worth $35 at all. The jerk chicken was like 1 cut-up piece... I usually need a to go box for my meals but didn't need one. The portion compared to the price wasn't aligned. This meal was decent. They have happy hour, so if I ever go back. It's only for that. Yelp
Did a quick stop for lunch. We got there right when it opened and the biggest challenge was the service. It took quite a while for the meal, especially considering we were the first in the restaurant and there were only 5 total folks including us while we were there. We had to get ahead and order drinks with check to finish. The food was super good. Great flavor on the curry with a nice touch of heat. The menu looks great and would like to try other items. Back on the service, they add 18% as part of the bill no matter the size. It was definitely not 18% service. I am not sure of the staff is expecting the auto tip so speed and attention suffers. The atmosphere is cool with good Caribbean music in the background. I really struggling with over all. I will round up since the food was so good.

Yelp
A friend told me this place and I was excited to come. But my expectations and the experience left me wondering, why did no one come to our table after being there 15 minutes, one waitress was at the bar smoking the person who sat us down disappeared into thin area, it was only 3 tables that had customers including ours. Service is key. Even if you are changing the channel on the TV, ask if we need anything. Extremely disappointed......
google avatar

Neisha M.

Yelp
Ordered two servings on wings as one serving is 5 pieces and you could only order a single order of jerk wings, any more has to be a separate order, did not make any sense. The place is small and they have hookah smoking inside. This in itself is a turnoff. The jerk and curry wings were good, nothing exceptional. It was very overpriced. $12 for five wings. The menu is definitely overpriced for what you get. There is a service charge of 18% automatically added to the bill. The service is slow and I had to ask for an itemized bill several times and the server also proceeded to ask me to order him something! They also add 7.5% for take out. Go at your own risk.

Yelp
Me and a friend of mine decided to stop here to get a quick bite. When we arrived we parked in the public lot. We walked in and were greeted and sat at the bar. I started with the rum punch, and it was good. I then had the jerk shrimp egg rolls, and they were decent, just the sauce was a little sweet. My friend enjoyed their quesadilla. The bill wasn't bad and we had a good experience.

Brelan B.

Yelp
DO NOT ORDER CRABCAKES. They are overpriced, and the size in the picture is twice as big. Foods great otherwise.
google avatar

Tauheedah M.

Yelp
It was decent. The cocktail Pattie's are super overpriced. The jerk pasta wasn't as spicy as I'd expect and it was really lacking in the protein. I would suggest adding more meat and maybe some veggies to brighten the heaviness. Seems like a good vibe although we took our food to go.

Yelp
Stopped in Friday evening after work. The place was lit , dj was playing good music. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the atmosphere. I got the curry goat plate to go with Collard Greens and Mac & Cheese. They hooked me up with the extra gravy too. The food was all of that. My only gripe was that there was a huge piece of ham hock fat in my greens resulting in me getting less greens than Mac , but I can definitely look past that because the greens were SO good. I wish I would have ordered an extra side of them. Whoever is back there in the kitchen knows exactly what they're doing with the island flavors. I'll definitely be back to try more food and I definitely want to dine in next time to get the full effect. Go check this spot out if you haven't.

Yelp
I came to grab a quick bite for lunch. I ordered the lobster egg rolls and plantain to go. The employee said they were out of plantain; so I only got the egg rolls. I sat at the empty bar to wait on my to go order. There was only one other patron in the restaurant. I was told by another employee that I couldn't sit there and wait for my food. She then pointed to a seating area up front. When I got to work to eat my food, there was barely any lobster in it. All vegetables.

Lauren L.

Yelp
The service, food, and ambiance was amazing! I started with the blue crab soup and seafood dip. The soup was very flavorful and contained real blue crab. The seafood dip was delicious. The portions are hug. The salmon entree has potential, but the salmon was a little dry. I got oxtail gravy on the side and put it on the rice, which was really good!
google avatar

Victoria R.

Yelp
I order the oxtail through Uber eats, and I could not finish it. The oxtail was salty The rice was soft and collard greens tasted weird. This is the second time I ordered from this restaurant and it will be the last I am from Jamaica and this is terrible food.

Mark C.

Yelp
I had the Cajun pasta with chicken + salmon and an order of fried wings- food was great! Our waitress was very helpful and she was attentive. Now, the liquor I'm pretty sure what I ordered (Jack Daniel's on the rocks) was not what I got . & my whiskey sour tasted neither like whiskey or sour. I recommend sticking to their specialty drinks as my friend really enjoyed his. The music was a little too loud for me but it was still a vibe and the DJ was hittin us with the bops- old and new school!

Yelp
Table for 4 for Lunch        I tried to make a reservation on OpenTable ahead of time, but this is only available for parties of 6 or more.  As I approached the restaurant, I noticed the ample parking lot. The parking lot is shared with other nearby shops and restaurants. Luckily, we found a spot not too far from the restaurant. As soon as we entered, the hostess scooped up a group ahead of us, and we were standing there for a few minutes, but another staff member greeted us to let us know that someone would be with us shortly (Thumbs up for the acknowledgement).  The hostess returned, seating us at a high top table.  We all quickly reviewed the drink menu. Wifey and I went for 2 authentic Jamaican Red Stripe beers, while my daughters opted for the Jamaican fruit punch.  For the main course, Wifey chose the Jamaican lobster rolls, which were really a special appetizer, but the server advised that you get 2 rolls, and she decided to make them her entrée with a side of plantains. My oldest turned an appetizer of 2 crab cakes into an entrée by adding rice and peas and sweet plantains. The youngest ordered the Blackened Mango Chicken with sweet potato fries and an extra side of plantains.   As for me, I went for the Curry Chicken meal, which came with 2 sides--Rice and Peas and Mac and Cheese. I also added a warm coco bread. Wifey's lobster roll arrived first, and there was a delay for the rest of the food. Our server apologized, explaining a mix-up where all the food was entered as an appetizer. Nevertheless, when the food arrived, it looked and tasted incredible.  Everything, and I mean everything, was delicious and well seasoned.  Although we considered dessert, everyone was just too stuffed, so we opted to pass. We requested three boxes for our leftovers and the check. The bill brought a little sticker shock as I learned that an 18% gratuity was already included. Despite the unexpected high cost, it didn't overshadow the visit. The food and hospitality/service were outstanding. For the record, our reheated leftovers tasted just as good a day or two later. 4.5 rating

Yelp
The ambiance gave a tropical yet retro Jamaican vibe. The service was not too overwhelming but also wasn't too underwhelming. The food was delicious and still hot when I took breaks haha. Great portions and flavor. Would give the food an 8/10! Would definitely return

Antoinette N.

Yelp
Stopped for and early dinner, really loved the comfortable atmosphere. Food was yummy and flavorful, full with plenty to take Togo!

Kiya B.

Yelp
Ordered the turkey wings and gravy. The gravy tasted like fat and grease. I had to come home and pour hot sauce on top to deal with the taste.

Amy P.

Yelp
The food was absolutely wonderful. This was the first time we were told water would only be served bottled, no glass or ice were provided. The final bill was provided on the wait staff's p.o.s machine, thus we needed to ask to see the actual bill. Having not received a paper receipt initially, it was difficult for this party of 2 to notice the 18% automatic gratuity. We had tipped 20% in addition, but realized what had happened. Wait staff corrected the error. We hesitate to return even though the food was exceptional. Will definitely bring water next time.

Kiri B.

Yelp
Fireeeee! Made with LOVE. Also plated with the same effort that they would in store. Not a skimpy plays and well worth the price.

AhmedGyal O.

Yelp
Experience was very unorganized, in the waiters and waitresses, had very offputting attitudes, and had a stink deposition towards any question or change to items on the menu. Almost everything on the menu is sweet so if you like Jamaican dessert food, then that's your place. Drinks are way too sugary and don't give you anything but a headache. Out of eight people they had almost every order come wrong in extra sided we did not order Ambiance was no Carribean

Adhel J.

Yelp
I had the Roasted Jerk Chicken with Coconut Rice & Fried Sweet Plantains as sides It was affluent in sauce and the jerk chicken soup compliments the rice so well. My cousin had Rasta Pasta that was creamy and the curry stir fry my friend treasured his curry sauce. Customer service was 10/10 and the ecstatic was Caribbean with dancehall and reggae music. Everything was 10/10 from food vibes to customer service everyone was phenomenally likable.

Yelp
MENU: This is a Caribbean food menu. The menu is simple and easy to read and well priced. FOOD: Been here a few times and I definitely keep coming back. It's a nice drive but the food is worth it. I love their oxtails, jerk chicken, and jerk egg rolls and rice and peas. Today I had some lemon pepper wings ($12) a platter with wings would be $28. PRICE: The most expensive thing on the menu is the Whole Red Snapper with your choice of 2 sides ($35). NOT BAD! (Apple pay, cards, and Cash accepted) DRINKS: The drinks were well made. I got the Chef Rob's Rum Punch ($13). It was strong and definitely snuck up on me. I also got a hookah ($25). There a good variety of good drinks to choose from. SERVICE: Service here is ALWAYS so impeccable. The servers are nice and patient. The owner Chef Rob walks around and checks up on you. I came on a Friday night and they had a DJ which was a nice vibe. It was a little after midnight so it wasn't crowded. There wasn't a hookah menu available but the hookah server was helpful in choosing a flavor. I was told they were currently working on a hookah menu. PARKING: This is located inside a plaza so there was ample parking and it's free to park. AMBIANCE: This used to have a lounge however they have undergone some renovations and is now just a restaurant/cafe. The ambiance was nice. There are flat screens in multiple areas of the restaurant showcasing games. The lighting was nice and it was just a nice vibe for a drink and a hookah. Closing time is pretty late.

Yelp
Chef Robs is located off Roswell Rd off 285 in a shopping center. It's about 5 minutes off of 285. It is very easy to locate. Free parking of course. Chef Robs has a restaurant side and then a lounge side. I took my son to dinner their Sunday to get out Labor Day weekend. It was midday and the music was low next day in the lounge. I have been before later and the music was blasting. There weren't many people there. I will say the floor was very slippery by the bathroom. I went to wash my hands as we got seated. The floor was slippery by our table as well. It had rained so we were careful not to fall. Our waitress was friendly and covered the menu. I ordered a sweet tea and my son peach lemonade along with water. He said the lemonade was good. The tea was just okay. I think the tea had brewed a bit too long. FYI, there is a 10% gratuity added to all to go orders. 18% added to all dine despite party size. I am accustomed to 18% added to say parties of 5 or 6 or more but all diners. Again, just a heads up so no surprises there. My son enjoyed his oxtails and took half his food home. His oxtails came w cabbage and rice w peas. You do have the option of trading out sides. I got the combo with jerk chicken and oxtails. I ate the oxtails and half my cabbage and rice w peas there. I took the rest home. Enough for us both to have something for later. It was a bit pricey. However, I know the price of oxtails in the store. A few of the menu items were a bit higher than other carribbean restaurants offering similar menus.

Tiana C.

Yelp
Let me say this ...I have to stop allowing Atlanta and these Tik Tok/IG food critics having me out of $100 ,mad, and hungry .This is another place that charges mandatory 18 percent gratuity for lackluster service. I was influenced by a clip of jerk crab claws and oxtails.I headed over to find out the crab claws were pricey and only an appetizer. We waited to be seated for 40 minutes .I ended up ordering a cup of crab soup and was brought and charged for a bowl of crab water .No taste ,no flavor, just water, stuff at the bottom, and microwaved overcooked crab legs . My friend ordered the cajun pasta with salmon and chicken .He got hard pasta with melted cheese on the top with watered pasta sauce .Flavorless. We also had the jerk patties which were the only decent thing that hit the table .Still those were saturated with a weird dressing from the spinach that was awkwardly placed in the middle . We relayed to the server ,who of course couldn't be less concerned about our experience .Maybe it was a bad day ,I love Jamaican/Caribbean food but this is not it .$75 down the drain

Yelp
Excellent service and the food was great. Try the Oxtails, Mac n Cheese, Garlic Coco bread and she crab soup.

Ren A.

Yelp
The combination of chicken and bell peppers in jerk pasta was so delicious, adding both protein and vibrant flavors. It has a notable level of spiciness from the jerk seasoning but just the right kick I highly recommend this place

Yelp
First off, let me start by saying this is only my second visit to Chef. Rob's my first visit came back in 2021 and my most recent visit was this past Saturday went for an outing with a guy friend of mine, and this was his suggestion atmosphere was nice. We were greeted very quickly set immediately The first thing I found an issue with that there was no refills on anything and the only water they serve was bottled, which was fine, but the bottle came out room temperature, which is what I prefer, but what would've happened if I wanted a bottle of cold water anyway we ordered our entrées. He ordered oxtails and I want to say chicken, macaroni and cheese and collard greens which appeared to be good according to him, I ordered the Cajun pasta with chicken and shrimp and had to fish around in the pasta for the chicken because it might as well have been minced chicken how small the pieces were. The only thing Cajun about this pasta was the seasoning there was no bell pepper onion, or anything the pasta was slightly overcooked , I took 2 bites and was done! In fact I got to go box and once I got home, I threw it away! My sweet tea with peach was good! ‍ I wish I had of had the same experience as some of the reviews I've read, but this is probably the last time I visit this establishment.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday evening for a friends bday party. It is a very unassuming location as it is a strip mall type of location in Sandy springs. We had a reservation for 18 and they had our tables ready when we arrived and it almost had a private feel because we were tucked away towards the back of the restaurant which was great for a party. Our server was Sha and she was so pleasant and helpful and was able to handle our large table along with her other tables. There were a few items missed that we had to ask for, but I was understanding of it because of how large the party was. It seems to be a casual restaurant but we did dress up a little for the party. There was a DJ that started around 9 and the music was great. Kept the environment fun! The drinks are strong and delicious. I ordered the Cajun pasta with chicken, spinach and mushrooms. I loved it. Different than a Rasta pasta dish which they also did have on their menu. Also had an order of the cocktail beef patties, which are 4 mini patties instead of one large one. The patties were tasty, but they served it on a plate with spinach and some sweet yellow sauce, which I would ask to not have next time. Personal preference that I did not like the sweet sauce on the patty. Something to note: if you bring a cake for a party, they do require each person sign a waiver because they are serving the cake, but didn't make it. It was an overall good experience: nothing fantastic that stood out and nothing that was negative that stood out.

Michelle A.

Yelp
The ambiance gives a real tropical but retro Jamaican vibe. The food was delicious and the drinks were the right amount of strong. Food 8/10. The service was pretty cool not too overwhelming but not underwhelming either. Overall 8/10 would return!

Yelp
Finding GOOD Jamaican food like REAL Jamaican food in ATL is literally impossible. I ordered the jerk chicken meal with rice and veggies. Veggies- 10/10 my goodness they were amazing! I'd go just for these, seriously. Rice - 3/10 didn't taste authentic Chicken - 2/10 very runny sauce/ flavor just wasn't giving me Jamaican. I would not order this again. I ate the veggies and threw out the meal :( I heard the oxtails were good so I'll give it ONE more chance! But I was highly disappointed.
google avatar

Yvonne O.

Yelp
I freaking luv this place like fam! I'm here almost everyday. The jerk chicken, jerk pasta, jerk chicken egg rolls, and oxtails are my favorite! The Smooth Operator is my absolute go to cocktail drink- casa migos tequila. Dj on Friday and Saturday nights a total vibe. The Bartenders-Ley, Rika, Tierra, Pino, and Shay don't play....
google avatar

Madeline M.

Yelp
I didn't love this place. It's super overpriced and the food was very average. It also took a long time for the food to come out. I also ordered a frozen margarita and it didn't come with any alcohol in it.
google avatar

Julia B.

Yelp
The bean soup was tasty but very watery with not much "stuff" in it. The rum cake was delicious and the drinks were very strong!

Mike P.

Yelp
My husband and I had a fantastic dinner this evening. The restaurant was busy but we were greeted and seated right away. Our server, Sharika was great and assisted us with our selections. The chicken egg rolls were yummy as a starter. My husband had the oxtail entree and I had the curry goat. Both were delicious. I highly recommend Chef Rob's Cafe & Bar and plan to return again soon.

Carmen C.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Made to order! Service was a tad bit slow in the beginning but once we had our waitress, everything was great. Nice spot too. I think I want to come back one night for drinks and hookah.

Kim W.

Yelp
Visited Chef Rob's today for the first time. We went for lunch and there were only a few other customers. We were greeted and seated immediately. We ordered an appetizer, two curry chicken lunches, and the mango chicken to go. Our server was pleasant and the food came out in about 15 minutes. The food was great. No problems at all with the service. We don't live close to this place, but I'm sure we'll visit again because there aren't any good Jamaican restaurants near us Update: Our most recent visit will be our last. It was close to 30 minutes before we received our entrees. Not sure if we just didn't catch it before but this place charges for iced tea and soft drink refills. Never mind that 1) the glass was mainly filled with ice, 2) the refill policy is nowhere to be found on the menu, 3) our server never mentioned it even after we had to flag her down to get refills. The cocktail patties are ridiculously overpriced and tiny. The entrees tasted fine so no complaint there. Overall mediocre service and too expensive for what you're getting.

Yelp
I have been coming here for the past 10 years and the food has always been awesome. With the new renovation, it is a more comfortable vibe. My recommendations would be the seafood dip, crab claws (creamy jerk), blue crab soup, and patties for appetizers. For dinner, I would recommend the grouper stir fry, Cuban lime chicken, or mango chicken, and always his famous oxtails and curry goat. For dessert, the sweet potato cake is also a must-try. Friday and Saturday is when they have a live Dj from 9-2. I hope that this helps all new comers. ENJOY!! BTW try the hookahs also.

K P.

Yelp
No curry chicken. No jerk chicken. Not 15 min wait, more like 45 min. No fresh food. You'll get old, dried out reheated or recooked trash for $80 on two plates. The only thing I would recommend them for is a health inspection.

Cocoa B.

Yelp
Food is good what's not is that dine in fee for two.. no need to tip they take it already an u won't see it until u tip again.. they don't have regular glass of water so prepare to pay for that as well.. service is great environment is great.. experience went great .. only four star due to the dine in fee that's not told of annnd making me pay for something I should always get free out of a restaurant (water) I'm already paying good money to eat at.

Yelp
When I walked in this place I was excited about Caribbean food! Once my friend & I walked in we were greeted by a lady with a top bun looking us up & down with a stink face because my friend had on a bonnet which she was told to remove. Ok so she removes her bonnet & sit down so we can get comfortable. Before we could get "comfortable" she came back saying the bonnet needs to be in her purse! Okkkk so we have a conversation and the lady chimes in from the other side of the bar saying what did y'all say?! I'm like ma'am we are have a conversation between ourselves so why do you have a issue. Ok so that was that. But the bartender (Tierra) was amazing! She greeted us with a smile and made sure we were taken care of. Also the kitchen staff was great as they brought our food and the food was great! But they definitely need a more welcoming face at the front door!

Yelp
We went back by for dinner the other evening. We still enjoy the food for the most part. The ox tails to me were a little bland. Rice and peas are rice and peas...no excitement there. We spent over $100 for our meal and we could not get a free glass of water with our meal. Chef Rob's is no longer providing just regular, plain old tap water....I'm just saying. You have to buy tea or soda or a drink or ginger beer or bottled water. I just don't get paying over $100 for a meal and can't get some water with your meal. And again, the tip is automatically added to your bill.....so you don't have the ability to make an Adjustment to your bill based on service provided.

Yelp
Definitely a must try in Sandy Springs! This place has really good Caribbean food. For drinks we got the old fashion (w/ Tennessee Honey) 8/10 and the Piña punch 7/10. We got the chicken jerk egg rolls with the mango sauce and omg! Amazing! For the food we tried the combination with curry goat, oxtail, rice and peas and spinach 9/10. We also tried the stir fry with salmon and Thai chili sauce. The dessert!! Try the rhum cake with rhum raisin ice cream. Everything was really good, the service was great and they played good music. They're also open pretty late if you're looking for something to do at night in Sandy Springs.

Yelp
NOT RECOMMENDED & wish I could rate a ZERO because, he does not deserve 1Star!!!!! I strongly do not recommend patronizing this business...let me tell you why. *****SCAM ALERT:***** Early in the day, I stumbled across this place on IG that offered $5 drink specials so, I took a mental note of it for later. After having dinner at Atlantic Station then treating myself to a IPIC movie... I decided to go check it out Chef Rob' s Friday Nights. This ended up being further out than I expected to drive but, for a $5 drink specials...ok. Upon arriving, I thought it was a decent location & amount of cars. There is a door guy/security at the door so, I proceeded by going in as the parking lot looked safe esp., since it's location is in a well lit plaza with several other businesses. The restaurant was much more smaller than it appeared from outside. It's a narrow space from entrance to bar. Yet I found a seat perfect at the bar where I could social distance so, I was comfortable staying. The bartender asked if I can get you something? I said, I didn't know give me a minute. Then gave me a food menu & I looked over then compared it to YELP pictures (of course....) but, after seeing a picture that said "This hot mess was tasteless" and reading all of the 1Star reviews...I decided not to get indulge in dining here not for ni $30 Oxtail Plate. I simply got a $5 Rum Punch as advertised on IG and also on a low level sign in front of the door entrance. Bartender cam back & I asked for a rum punch. She made the drink and returned. It looked like a rum punch, tasted like a rum punch so, I was content as I listen to the DJ mixing up the Afrobeats. DJ was cool. Bartender was pleasant & checked on me like 2 others times to see if I needed anything else. Being the slow sipper I am, I was of course still sipping on my cocktail. As more people came in, I noticed no one with mask on so, I told myself I would not stay log. After finishing my cocktail, I told the bartender to close me out. My tab for 1 drink was closed and I was given the bill however, upon looking at the bill there were a lot of numbers. I closely analyze the bill and to my surprised I was charged 2X MORE than what was advertised on the sign outside & on IG. Attempting to get this error rectified, I was trying ti get my bartenders attention & patiently awaited her to give me eye contact and show me the attention she showed me before closing out my tab. Due to the music, I wrote a note on the back of my receipt, put my hand up in the air hold the receipt...and it was obvious that now she was intentionally was ignoring me. I sat w/my mask on obviously ready to go & in disbelief as she took a guys order next to me, came back gave him 2 beers then took his payment & turned her back on me for a 2nd time then went to the other end of the bar. Shocked & now determined to sort out my bill...I gathered my things, got up and walked down to opposite end of bar as I was again trying to get my bartenders attention. Not noticing the owner Chef Rob was next to me. I must of had a perplexed look on my face because, he look and ask can I help you. I said, Yes. Are the rum punches $5? He replied, No. Shocked, I said so there not $5 he said no. I then said but, on IG and on the sign you have outside...they both say $5 Rum Punch. Out of the blue he says, "My promoter right here, she has that for a limited time." I said, the only hours on here indicated from 7pm-2am it does not specify any other hours. He again pointed to someone then replied again, "My promoter right here." I looked at him even more perplexed but, now also shocked & disappointed with his response and UNATTENDED NEED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. Even more, I was caught off guard by Chef Rob trying to put me off to (I guess...) refer me to his promote. I don't know what or why, he disregarded my concern but, I simply left his business before I got madder. As I left out front door, I took a picture of the sign promoting the $5 cocktails. (SEE PICTURES...) Chef Rob is low-key RIPPING CUSTOMERS OFF by this FALSE ADVERTISING I presume to attract customers like me and maybe to keep his business from sinking forcing him to close his doors. I have never in my life been to a restaurant, treated nice but, when their error was called out...for a owner to deflect & not resolve the bill. I was bambozzled!!!! Again, do not spend a penny of your hard earned dollars here as...THE OWNER IS A NOT PROFESSIONAL & DOES NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS!!!!!

Yelp
Let's start off with the server Raven, sweet young lady with a gorgeous smile and great attitude! Now onto the food. Thoroughly disappointed. My coworker and his wife have been patrons for awhile and thought this would be a great spot to meet up with our spouses for a couples night. As we suggested they visit Tassa Roti, AMAZING by the way. Anywho, we were seated immediately and drink order taken. I ordered the tropical sorrell rumtini, not strong at all but good and they ordered a bottle of rum punch. Which was good. Raven came back to take our food order and Hubby is a HUGE fan of escovitch, so it was suggested for him to go with the Red snapper. This is where things went downhill. Our food comes out and my coworker's wife plate was covered in sauce and mine seemed lacking. The roasted jerk came out steaming. Then the fish. Side eyed the fish. THIS was NOT escovitch. It was just over fried fish with onions! I mean the fish was dried out! So Hubby told Raven he was NOT happy with this and would like something else. He was told all sales are final. I'm sorry what!? So Hubby ordered the salmon, which he stated was good. But we paid for a burnt dry fish that was NOT appealing nor edible. Upset is an understatement. Definitely not going back. Took a picture and sent to my friend who is Jamaican and asked her Dad to please fix us some REAL escovitch. When we told them where we went, the laughter that commenced. Had been looking forward to adding a new spot to our list but very disappointed!

Yelp
I was walking to my car after coming out of one of the other restaurants in the plaza. As I began to open my door I heard the music coming out of Chef Rae's. Loving music the way I do, I had to stop in. Upon walking in, the hostess provided us a high top and the environment was very intoxicating. Good music, people smiling and having fun, and an ambiance that takes you away from your thoughts from the day and put you in a zone. It was a Thursday night which is the night that they have live music. As we got settled and looked over the menu we were drawn to the infectious sounds of Kari Epps and her band. Babeeeeeeeeeee!!! When I tell you this is an experience you have to partake in if you love music. Trust me.... You have to. As I had just eaten I wasn't hungry, however, I couldn't step foot in Chef Rae's and not get some Rice and Peas. Upon first taste, I was absolutely excited with the authentic flavors and perfect tenderness of the rice. Listen! Good Music. Good Food. Good Times. This is the place to be on a Thursday night... Just imagine my excitement when a decision to stop in turns into a new favorite spot.

Yelp
A new client of mine from NYC is making the move down south, and after a short notice to tour a handful of properties, reciprocated by saying Thanks by buying me lunch!!! It was 3 in our party. 1 advised the food is Amazing and the other 2, including myself were the newbies! Now, this review could be biased as I'm Jamaican and my client is Guyanese but the food was Ok. Service was on point and the staff was very friendly and what you would expect from a model waitress. We ordered (2) Combination plates, 1 with Oxtails and Goat and another with Jerk and Oxtails. We all ordered the Mac N Cheese, 2 orders of Jerk Chicken Egg Rolls, and 2 bowls of Pea Soup... I opted for the Turkey Burger....Played it safe. Lol... We ordered a Hookah and all ordered drinks. The Oxtail was delicious. Taste is deep and I can taste the fresh thyme! Very flavorful! The goat and Jerk was meh.... Mac N Cheese was also meh. Turkey Burger was surprisingly very tasty and tender! Chicken Egg Rolls were also meh. I had heard so much about these but they didn't WOW my taste buds. They did pack a nice punch with spice! Pea soup is AMAZING! That could truly be a meal on its own. It's so thick and creamy... The Drinks are strong and the Bob Marley was a treat to look at when it 1st arrived at the table. Hookah is on the pricier side in the city. It was $45!! Traffik In Midtown charges $50 so they are both up there.... Not gonna complain too much about that because Hookah goes hand in hand with alcohol and this is a great add on for the restaurant. Although the food wasn't my ultimate Fave, the owners resume for what he has accomplished is impressive. The restaurant is family owned, black owned and is located in Sandy Springs, and has been there for over a decade! That alone is an accomplishment and I applaud him for creating a space for us to enjoy ourselves! 4 Stars!

Yelp
It was my first time eating at Chef Rob's Caribbean Cafe & I must say the food was amazing. The restaurant ambiance was warm & inviting. The music wasn't too loud & our waitress was very attentive. Chef Rob himself came out to check in with us & caught me sucking the gravey off my fingers the food was so good lol!! I definitely will be visiting again!!

Yelp
Came here with a friend and we loved EVERYTHING we ordered, and we ordered a lot. Jerk shrimp egg rolls, crab cakes, lemon pepper wings, jerk chicken & oxtails, pasta, everything was delicious. The vibes/atmosphere were immaculate. Will definitely be back.
