Chef Rose Restaurant

I stopped into to place an order for an event I was hosting. Chef Rose personally sat with me to take my catering order. She was pleasant and attentive to all my needs during this process. I explained my specific allergens and she made a note of it. The day of the event the food was ready on the time as indicated. All my guest enjoyed the delicious food. I will definitely order for future events. Thank you.

Ordered from Uber eats and I had to write this review to remind myself to never order from here again. I always give places at least 2 tries but the price did not match what I ordered so here I am. The chicken empanadas were dry as heck, the baked ribs were super fatty and over priced in my opinion for 2 pieces , however, the taste wasn’t bad at all! The salad was bad and when I say bad, I mean it was brown……paid around $30, absolutely not worth it!

Service was great. They attend you as soon as you walk in the door. The steam table is straight forward and they answer any questions you have. Take out or dining in I’ve had nothing but great experiences. All the employees greet you with smiles and the atmosphere is great. Whenever I don’t feel like cooking this is the place I turn to!

I’ve been a follower on IG for a long time! The moment I knew Chef Rose opened the restaurant I couldn’t wait to try it out! And she did NOT disappoint! We had a catering order for New Years, the food was still hot when I picked it up, the flavors brought me right back home to the mother land! 🇩🇴 The only thing I felt needed some TLC were the oxtails, not much meat to them more fat than anything. But other than that the rice, beans, rotisserie chicken, maduros, quipes, shrimp pasta in white sauce (chefs kiss!) From Staten Island to the BX! I will be back

DELICIOUS AUTHENTIC DOMINICAN FOOD!! We love Chef Rose and her fantastic food. As soon as she opened a restaurant I knew we had to pay a visit since all her recipes on instagram made my mouth water. Must try, GOAT STEW!! (Chivo Guisado) not everyone knows how to make it. A fan favorite in our household. The rotisserie chicken, staple of course. The pernil, Chicharron, even the sancocho just delicious. Cannot forget the authentic rice and beans or the pastelitos. Please save room for dessert because they have the BEST TRES LECHES I’ve ever had in my life! Wow!!

Hi !! I worked Christmas Eve and didnt have time to prep & cook so I called Chef Rose on xmas eve and placed a same day catering order. I ordered moro,chicken,pernil and maduros and it was delicious. Ordered medium trays and we ate for dinner and brunch Xmas day. Alot of food and soo good. I dont really like pernil and it was delicious!!! Loved everything. My hubby also put an order the following week for his work party and everyone was asking for the info on where he got it. My daughter who works near by tastes the food at Xmas and said wait. This is Rose’ food. I eat here for lunch daily. Thanks Rose for everything. Repeat customer here !!!

Happy to finally meet Chef Rose and taste her delicious food. Ordered catering for Christmas Eve and the pernil , baked chicken and the rice with bacon and maduros in it. Food and service was excellent, thank you.

The workers there are courteous and respectful. If it's your first time there (as it was for me), they'll explain what they're offering and bring the food to you. I haven't tried their coffee yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to it!

I am loving this place- BEST spot to order from in the area when you want to eat some real food... The rotisserie chicken is DELICIOUS!! The beans are also up there!! The only reason that I did not give them four stars: the combo here is not worth it... other spots include a soda, a salad AND tostones/maduros. Chef Rosa only includes a soda and a very limited salad... The lettuce looks like they cut a lettuce head in four and threw it in there like that.

This restaurant struggles with consistency, and properly cooked food. I question how fresh the food actually is? I placed a large order that was not ready for the time of pickup which delayed our time to get to the venue and no communication of my order was given to staff at all. I was very sad to be given food from the steam table that had been sitting there for God knows how long. When we finally got around to opening the food to serve it we noticed the Pernil was still pink inside not fully cooked and so was the chicken, I dont know about you but I'm not a fan of eating raw meat and neither is my family. This was highly disappointing. The rice was also very dry. My family was not happy at all. You can't even order to sit down nothing comes fresh from the kitchen all from the steam table. Ambiance seems a bit narcissistic, the Chef should focus more on her food than photos of herself! Overpriced, I spent a large amount in cash and was not given a receipt. Completely disappointing.

I have been following Chef Rose since 2019 and I have always admired her hard work and determination. I'm so proud of her achievements in opening her new restaurant. She is such a humble person and hard working and loves her family dearly. Chef Rose is an admiration and her hard work makes you want to do more and achieve your goals. The restaurant is beautiful, bright and welcoming! The moment you walk in they greet you and ask what you want to eat. This is the kind of service you want when you go to a restaurant to sit in or take out. Congratulations Rose and Nick on your new endeavor

I got overcharged, I paid cash and after not receiving the change I expected I asked the cashier to check again clarifying the price. Instead of 13$ I was charged 15$. Not going back, overpriced anyhow. Nearby locations server better food with better service for lower prices.

First time. Food presentation looks great. Customer service great but some of the food especially goat meat oxtail and a few other that I try here weren't cook all the way or it was hard to chew I had goat meat. With rice and beans got. A lot of rice and only 3 pieces of goat meat. Which was not cook right and hard to swallow won't recommend this place

The chicharrón was very good. The rice and beans as well. Their majarete is fabulous, bit expensive- $5 for a small.

There are at least 5 Dominican/Caribbean restaurants in a 5 block radius in this area and this is by far the best one, in every way. Chef Rose's meals taste just like the homemade food from our mothers and grandmothers back on the islands. -The meals are very fresh. Excellent quality. -The portions are also more generous than the other restaurants around us and the selection of dishes readily available daily is also a much better in both variety and taste. A big difference. -The service is also the best. -The prices are unmatched for the quality and the portions that you get. -Their seasoning is definitely more natural and they do not use enhancers. A big plus for us. (We asked how their food tasted so fresh and different) We used to get our Dominican meals from two of the other similar restaurants in the area but have now become loyal customers of Chef Rose because her food is just that good. Go early afternoon or early evening because the best goes fast. We recommend their pernil, chicharrones (by far the best), the fish (excellent value), oxtail, turkey (great value, amazing recipe for wings and drumsticks) and any style in which they cook their beef or chicken. Everything they make is delicious -- we get our family meals there once or twice a week and can attest to how consistent the quality is -- It's just like home made and very fresh. A real New York find. This is a beautiful, spotless steam table joint where everyone says "Good Morning" to you. I like the fact that I can have lunch at 10 am (I get up early). Everything is fresh and ready to go -- soft, moist yellow rice and pigeon peas, baked salmon, stews of goat, oxtail, and chicken. Even breakfast, but 19 am is too late for me. Right off the 1 train at 231 Street in Riverdale.

Food was incredible, the service was amazing, and the restaurant makes you feel comfortable and at home. I even ended up ordering from their catering menu for both Christmas eve and New Years Eve and you could tell they put love into everything I ordered to make sure my guests felt that in my home. Thank you so much to Chef Rose, Nick, and their team. Will be back for more!

Super yummy food reminds me of home extremely talented chef. Plenty of variety so much to choose from. My personal favorite, malanga although everything is very tasty!!

I was happy to find such great service. When I walked in, I was greeted. All of the food had labels so I didn't have to ask. The restaurant looks so clean and the food is well organized. There aren't people sitting at a counter which is refreshing as we don't have to order the food between them. The servers were courteous and that was also great. I took two lunches home and it was really good.

Best Dominican Caribbean food in riverdale/kingsbridge area hands down. Also some of the best chicharron in NYC, better than La Reina in my opinion. Rabo (oxtail) is delicious. The flan is very tasty. You won't regret ordering from here.

The delicious smell of the food takes over the entire block. I have followed Rosie for some years now and having her family owned restaurant nearby has been wonderful for the community. The service is very welcoming and the food is excellent. We now order food weekly.

Walked by this establishment and the layout looked appetizing! I tried the rotisserie chicken and it was juicy and well seasoned ( didn't only taste like oregano, like many other places) The workers who helped me were very kind. Looking forward to trying more of their selection out in the near future.

Was Visiting NYC from Boston MA and decided to check out Chef rose restaurant what can is say the Food was amazing location was nice and clean and the service was excellent Definitely recommend Can't wait to go back again.

Such a warm and cozy restaurant. So many options to pick from along with such attentiveness from the staff who genuinely seemed pleased to explain each dish. HEFTY portions and dont even get me started on the flavors. I was transported back to DR. The rice is cooked to perfection the soups are rich and delicious con ese saborsito dominicano. Truly amazing, 10/10 i absolutely loved it. Thank you chef rosie!

The best food in town!! Everything here is delicious, fresh & tastes like your mother's & grandmother's home cooking!! You will never be disappointed!! Service is always up to par & everyone is so hospitable! The longest food bar you will find in this area with a variety of food options, makes it hard to choose what to eat! Everything is always neat & clean. Feels like you're visiting your family's house for some good home cooked meals! Consider Chef Rose restaurant for your food & catering needs you'll never be disappointed they don't miss!! 5 stars all the way!

Food sucked, 1st time customer and definitely the last time... The food was terrible. I don't know if the reviews they have are bought or family and friends or just people who like bad food... when my 13 yr old walked away from table I knew it was not good.

It is a bit confusing to order once you get inside as nothing is labeled. The woman taking my order was nice but her English was limited and she could not explain to me what certain things were. I saw what looked liked rotisserie chicken and grilled chicken which appeared to be similar to each other. I asked the woman the difference between the two and she told me "it's just chicken" so it wasn't that helpful. On the way in, I took a quick look at the menu posted on the street sign and did not remember what came with the lunch meal. Again, the woman wasn't that helpful. I asked for sweet plantains and another man said she would package it separately. They did give me a generous portion but it looks like they charged it as a side order when I only wanted what came with the meal. The chicken was a bit dry and tasteless. The rice and chicken portions were large but I prefer quality. Not sure I would return.

I have attempted to come to this establishment two different times. Two completely different days and times to order a soup and another for dinner. This place is unorganized and they need to figure out a better way to place your order. I stood by waiting for someone to take my order for the soup, which is located near the door. Customers were walking in and stopping in the middle and skipping other people waiting. I went last night to order dinner & yet again I stood more towards the middle no one took my order or asked. I walked by towards the door to get my order placed. A man walked in and skipped me, began saying is order as I was waiting. I had to yell at the employee because if this is a free for all establishment, to pick and choose who's orders instead of doing it in order. I am sticking to Economico, their employees are so attentive, & way more organized. I would even go to Malecon before this establishment because their organization in taking orders is just a mess. Do better!
