Visiting the area and found this adorable little pub. Super cute place! Loved the simplicity. Very clean and friendly.

Love the vibe of this place! The atmosphere is so chill and homely. The staff is super nice and very helpful. The service is fast and friendly. And the food!! Absolutely amazing! Five stars without a doubt! Plus the prices won’t break the bank.

Google
A pleasant, casual time with friends. Tables under shade sails and placed conviently next to a micro-brewery.

"Chef Shack is a fantastic spot! The food is consistently delicious, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend the Shack Burger—it's one of the best in Ohio! The pretzel bites with beer cheese are also a must-try. It's a great place to grab a bite with friends, and the atmosphere inside Buckeye Lake Brewery is perfect. To top it off Allie is super awesome!”

Google
BEST BURGERS ON PLANET EARTH! We moved near here a year ago and now any time someone comes into town we take them to here for the Shack Burgers and get messages weeks later that they keep thinking about the burgers. I’ve never wrote a review before but these burgers are just that amazing.

Kristen H.

Google
The Chef Shack is an absolute hidden gem! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and inviting with a laid-back lake vibe that made us feel right at home. The food is phenomenal—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. We have tried multiple menu items and have never been disappointed. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Buckeye Lake, The Chef Shack is a must-try. Great food, great people, and a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the lake life. We’ll definitely be back!

Google
Best pretzel bites and beer cheese I've ever had and I did the build your own burger with cheese, bacon and barbecue sauce was delicious! The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Definitely coming back!

Google
Great food and service and reasonable prices casual place with outdoor seating. I guess the Jambalaya is seasonal but get it if you can. Fish tacos are delicious(the fish is breaded) which I’ve not seen before but is delicious

Yelp
We love this place and live on the lake but tonight, Monday night, skip the old fashioned, one once of bourbon and an ice cube for $12 Come on guys

Yelp
Overall: 7/10 Food: 6/10 Service: 7/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Value: 9/10 Ugh, so this is a tough review because for its location, this is one of the best restaurants around. The challenge is, is it good compared to the local fare, yes. Would it complete head to head with highly rated national restaurants, probably not. I don't want to turn anyone off as you'll be happy with what you get. It's all pretty much fried food and burgers. Tasty pub grub and having the brewery attached is a nice bonus. Support small businesses and Chef Shack is a great place to start!

Yelp
Stopped in on a Sunday after being on the lake. Attached to the brewery, its a nice spot to hang out. I will say that seating was very limited inside, but a small patio outside made up for it. Go to the counter and order, they will give you a buzz when your food is ready. We found out that there is a different menu on Sundays so the items we wanted were not available. We tried the pretzel bites, they were good, pretty standard really. I have the Shack Burger and Fries. both were great. The burger was a smash variety, great toppings and a special sauce really complemented this burger well. The fries were hand cut and had good flavor, I personally would have liked them a bit crisper, but that's a not the style they were presenting. overall, I'd go back and try their regular menu.

Yelp
Saved Our Mother's Day! After a disappointing experience at another restaurant up the street (Boatyard), we stopped into The Chef Shack as a last-minute attempt to salvage our Mother's Day--and we're so glad we did! The staff was incredibly friendly, the service was quick, and the food was absolutely delicious. It was a complete turnaround from where we had just been, and we couldn't believe such a great spot was only a couple hundred feet away. We're so grateful we found this gem, and we'll definitely be back. Highly recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area--you won't be disappointed.

Madison H.

Yelp
Great food and great prices! Added bonus of having the buckeye lake brewery attached. We are regulars here

Yelp
Chef Shack is located inside Buckeye Lake Brewery. Walk up to the counter and order, you'll be given a buzzer for when your order is ready to pick up. I ordered chicken wings (hot) they were deep-fried and un-breaded. The sauce lacked flavor. Ordered the NY Style Hotdog. The hotdog was perfect and all-beef. Mustard and Kurt were nothing special, poppyseed bun was ok. Pretzel bites! Winning. Everything you want from a pretzel bit.

Yelp
This review has been a long time in the making. When Chef Shack opened, I was thrilled to have a new food spot in the Buckeye Lake area-- there really isn't enough out here. As a regular at the Buckeye Lake Brewery, which Check Shack is attached to, it seemed like a clutch new option. Now I'll tell you that this review is going to get worse before it gets better. The first time we ate it, my dining partner got food poisoning from the fish n chips. The next time we dared to venture, about a year later, another dining partner got sick from: you guessed it, the fish n chips. After that, I didn't go to Chef Shack again until the beginning of this year out of fear and principle (yes, the options are so sparse that eventually I thought "3rd times a charm, right?"). Well, the 3rd time was a charm. and so was the 4th and 5th. The fries are killer, burgers are solid, and my personal favorite is the fried pickle. This is unlike any other fried pickle you have had-- it's a pickle spear smeared with cream cheese, drizzled in mustard, and wrapped in salami, and then all of that is stuffed inside of a wonton and deep fried-- so it looks like a XL egg roll, but tastes like fried Italian sandwich heaven. I also love their coney dogs! As embarrassing as it is to admit that I love any hotdog, as an Ohio native and Cinci-born Skyline chili aficionado, I'm shouting it to the Yelp hills for all my fellow coney-lovers. To be honest, if it weren't for the first 2 awful experiences, it would be a 5 star review. Just skip the fish n chips.

Yelp
The Chef Shack was a nice surprise! It's elevated bar food. We got the fish and chips, fish tacos, kettle chips with onion dip, and a fried pickle to try. The fish was battered so well, everything tasted fresh. Fresh cut fries. The kettle chips and onion dip were AMAZING. We got one of the fried pickles to split and try. It was wrapped in meat and was really different. I don't love a fried pickle but the crunch made this really pop. You order at the counter and can go into the brewery, enjoy a beer, and eat your food there. The woman helping us checkout was super friendly. We haven't been to many places in the area, but we'll definitely be back to the Chef Shack!

Yelp
Chef Shack shares a wall and some open seating with Buckeye Lake Brewery. However, technically they have their own space and do in fact have their own kitchen on their side. Tried their homemade crab cakes with a side salad. Their salads are pretty big. Everything is served in the silver foil circle containers. The salad filled that entire area. Fresh tomatoes and cheese topped it. I was impressed with the crab cakes. Pretty meaty and good flavor. The seasoning(s) used complemented well. These are made fresh the morning of, and you could tell - no freezer taste. I got one of their chocolate turtle brownies to take home for dessert (apparently also made in-house). It was pretty sweet, I only ate a few bites. I'll just stick with a protein and veggies for now. Service was fast and friendly. I'm not around Buckeye Lake very often, but I'll keep Chef Shack in mind for the foreseeable future.

Yelp
I came to this place with the family on the way to see the lights on the raceway. I didn't know what to expect because this spot has way below the number of reviews that I typically will give a restaurant a chance (usually, I have to see 150+ reviews no less). Before walking into the establishment, you are greeted with the sign on the door telling you to wear your mask before entering. Once inside, you notice the cleanliness of the restaurant. The counter worker was very polite and knowledgeable about the menu. She helped me decide what I was going to have for my meal. I got the shack burger, fries, the nachos, and the wings. The burger was good. The thing that I enjoyed about it was that you could taste the freshness; it could have used a tad bit more seasoning. Otherwise, the burger was cooked to perfection, and the presentation was excellent. The fries, who can go wrong with fresh-cut fries? They are the best. We rather enjoyed these and cleaned the plate of them. The nachos with chicken were okay. I love the visual of it. Once again, everything was visibly fresh and colorful. My only request would be to season the chicken (that's the protein I choose, you have options) a little bit more. Now time for the wings. These things were freaking fantastic (if you haven't noticed, this is my catchphrase). I got the jerk flavored wings, and I must say that it was not overwhelming. The heat level of the jerk seasoning is relatively low, but all the jerk taste is there, and it's seasoned just perfectly. I love some great wings, and yes, I would definitely drive 28 mins away from Gahanna just to grab some from here.

Michelle G.

Yelp
Chef Shack is one of our favorites, the wings, coney dog, fries (flat or handcut) are great, and the pretzel bites are the best. Burgers are great too! We love the patio and grabbing a cold beer next door.
google avatar

Yelp
Eat Greek is now on our FIRST CHOICE list for Greek food! Small, family atmosphere. Food is prepared right behind the counter where you can see them cook! We've been there twice, and both times the folks were friendly and patient in explaining menu items when asked. The only suggestion would be that fresh mushrooms (as opposed to can mushroom) be used for mushroom pie.

Yelp
Your menu choices MATTER at Chef Shack. The Shack Burger - huge and absolutely deliciously fantastic, with an incredible bun. A bargain for $9. The fries - fantastic. I'm guessing they fry in peanut oil. Delicious fries. A bargain for $3. The root beer - house-made, delicious and not too sweet. The house-made coleslaw - delicious, very fresh and not too sweet. A very nice sized serving for $3. Salad with grilled chicken - pretty good. Jambalaya - 'eh... pretty good, but not memorable. Fried fish & chips - nice. Tacos - not my thing. All in all - I will ABSOLUTELY CRAVE another burger, fries, coleslaw and root beer, and will return very soon to get them...!!! Very delicious, if you order the right things.

Yelp
I ordered fish tacos but the tortillas were cold. My son ate a double shake burger and he said it tasted like a whopper. My husband ordered fish and chips and enjoyed it.
google avatar

Sheri S.

Yelp
The owners of this restaurant Have been in the restaurant business for many years. Chef shack is connected directly to Buckeye Lake Brewery. This is a great addition, as they offer gourmet food, burgers appetizers and many specials! I got the shrimp linguine and it was amazing! My husband got the special (Thai coconut chicken on rice) he thought it was amazing! Come for lunch or dinner and pair it with a great beer or specialty colas and root beer!
google avatar

Joel E.

Yelp
Excellent food! It pairs greatly when grabbing a beer at the brewery. Burgers, tacos, sides are all top notch.
google avatar

Jill B.

Yelp
A solid spot. If you like mushroom burgers I would try there's. They have a variety of food. We tried the pretzel bites w beer cheese and chips & queso. I also had the mushroom burger. It was all good. I would definitely come back if I was in the need for a quick meal.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite local places. The good is constantly good and it's concept is nice. Chill vibe.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
This place was phenomenal. We came to buckeye lake for the winery and stopped here since it's attached to buckeye lake brewery. The shack burger and fries was one of the best burgers and fries I've had in Ohio. Staff was kind and attentive. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Barbara W.

Yelp
We've been here often. Food is consistently delicious. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere is casual, clean and they have a nice outdoor area, as well. If you're looking for a quick bite, their efficiency is top notch. Thank you Chef Shack!
google avatar

Doug B.

Yelp
Good food. My wife had the mushroom cheeseburger, my son had wings and I had jambalaya. My wife said this was one of the best burgers she had ever had. The wings were decent, but seemed overpriced compared to the rest of food. My jambalaya was good with a nice portion size. We also had chips with queso supremo. Highly recommend this.
google avatar

Lauren N.

Yelp
Not a single mask in site. Both women in the kitchen not wearing masks. Lady at the front register wearing mask hanging under her nose. Not cool guys. Not cool.

Justin K.

Yelp
Cannot go wrong with a single thing here. Everything I've tried so far is delicious, recommend the shack burger or the wings!
google avatar

Robert K.

Yelp
Good food with fun atmosphere is how best to describe our lunch visit. I ordered the Buckeye Lake Beer Cheese with pretzel bites for an appetizer. The pretzel bites were light and fluffy, yeah! And the cheese was yummy. All 3 of us had patty melts and they were properly made & delicious. Service was courteous and responsive. Casual place with open seating inside and out. Good selection of beers too! I would return and recommend to my friends.
google avatar

Shannon H.

Yelp
Great little spot in Buckeye Lake! We ordered the pretzel bites with beer cheese, the fried pickle, pork loin sandwich and fish and chips! EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING! The fried pickle is unlike any other fried pickle you've ever eaten: it's a dill pickle spear, wrapped in salami, cream cheese and a rice paper like wrapper then deep fried!! A must try! The pork loin sandwich was tender, juicy and had great flavor! The fish and chips was very good but the tartar wasn't my favorite. We topped it all off with a few beers! We sampled a few first then I decided on the raspberry ale and my hubby had the blonde ale, which were both very good. Beautiful outdoor shaded patio was very enjoyable! Will definitely return!

Chris F.

Yelp
Best Reuben you will ever have. I've had a lot of Ruebens over the years. This is #1. Bonus - brewery attached. Only negative is that they aren't open for lunch during the week. I'd be here every day if they were

Brittany M.

Yelp
Seriously the best food in Buckeye Lake! The burger was actually beef and it was delicious and all fresh toppings. The prices were affordable as well. This is my new go to place!

Bella P.

Yelp
food was absolutely delicious!!! workers were so very kind and the atmosphere was so welcoming! 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
First, having to pay two different bills for the food and the drinks makes no sense. You'd think they could work it so you only pay one bill. Second, the girl taking the food order should learn about customer service. After putting a 25% tip on her tip jar, she says "I'll bring out your food, if I'm not too busy". To that I said "then what is that 25% tip I just gave you for". She then stated "I'll bring your food to you". Turns out the food is pretty good, but the service and attitude of the restaurant is lackluster. Probably won't return to this place. Patty D. from the restaurant seems to have a problem with my review. She told me to never come back, maybe others reading this review shouldn't go there either. How about hiring better employees that have pride in their work. What a fantastic way to run a business.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
We went to chef shack along with buckeye lake brewery this weekend and it was fantastic!! The food was delicious, and very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Crystal A.

Yelp
We have driven by Chef Shack several times and finally got to stop! Then made it 2x in one week. Dining made simple here, order at the counter and your buzzer goes off when it's ready. Love how it's next to a brewery and love that they offer local wine as well. We got chicken tacos, salad, grilled cheese, fries, pretzel bites, fish and chips, and the Ruben between our 2 visits and we will definitely be back! My husband loved the Ruben in particular! Everything we had was great! I'm not a huge fan of pre-shredded packaged cheese on salads or other restaurant food...but I know what to get next time. Love the casual, laid back vibe that happens here and it is a great spot right off of Buckeye lake. Summer, outdoor seating is my favorite and it's definitely accomplished at Chef Shack.
google avatar

Kristen M.

Yelp
Counter service and pickup food attached to a brewery but run independently. They're cooking from scratch and doing a mighty fine job! The burgers were fantastic as well as the fries. Friends ordered the shrimp, chorizo sliders and a crab cake BLT and all were reported as delicious. Another patron reported the wings as exceptional... wish I would have known that earlier to try them! The staff were very friendly, gracious and worked hard!

Hannah P.

Yelp
We ordered the chips and salsa, pretzels with beer cheese, and a Shack burger to share. Everything came out very quick and fresh. They even offered to cut the burger in half when they saw we'd be sharing, and the prices cannot be beat. Paired with a delicious beer from Buckeye Lake Brewing and we had a perfect Sunday afternoon!!!

John A.

Yelp
Great offerings. Food is always fresh and plentiful at a great value. While in Buckeye Lake this is a go to spot. Staff is friendly and courteous.

Phil C.

Yelp
I'm somewhat of a snob when it comes to a patty-melt. I love them but I've had good and less than good around the USA. My wife and I stopped in to Chef Shack last Sunday as we progressed along the ale trail. Ordered a patty-melt with absolutely no expectation one way or another. Took my first bite, and then actually sat the sandwich down to tell my wife, "This is awesome!" From previously described snob, Chef Shack scores in my book 10 out of 10. Nice people too.....
google avatar

Tracie O.

Yelp
We love the Chef Shack. Great friendly service and the always have a great variety of selections

Yelp
[Note: This is the same review as for the attached brewery. They operate as a single entity.] We recommend specifically the food we got. We've only been the once, so our review is based solely on the service, the food, and the beer that day. Chorizo tacos: Superb. Larger than you think they will be. I asked how big they were. (Since they were only $3, I assumed they'd be small.) The lady behind the counter showed me the tortilla. I assumed that the taco would be typical fast food size. Wrong! You can't fold these tacos until you have eaten at least half of the filling. Two stuffed me. Fried pickle: Best ever. Again, concerned about the size, I asked. The lady gestured with her hands about the size of a whole dill pickle. I asked about that and was told that it was just a fried spear. So, we ordered one each. Wrong! It is a dill spear, but then it is wrapped in ham, cheese, and a tortilla. Then it is fried. They're huge! We split one and took the other home. Fish and chips. Very good. Fish was tender with crispy coating. Fries were, well, um, fries. Beer: They brew their own. Some are available with a ball of frozen grapefruit juice. Amazing. Listen to the recommendations about which beers to put the ball in and which not. If you are unsure which beer to order, ask for a few shots of the ones you might like. They will happily provide you with samples. Service was good, if not a little weird (due, no doubt, to COVID). To order food, you MUST go to the counter to order, pay, and (later) pick up. To order drinks, you MUST be seated for a server to take your order. I dunno. I guess COVID is most likely transmitted when ordering drinks at the bar and when ordering food at the table and less likely to be transmitted when ordering drinks at your table and food at the counter. I'm stumped. Anyway, the staff was friendly and able to laugh at the silliness themselves. All in all, an enjoyable experience. If you are staying in the Buckeye Lake area, make at least one visit to the Chef Shack and the attached brewery.

Yelp
July 2020 - The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. We really enjoyed our lunch and we'll definitely visit again.

Yelp
Love this place. Good food!! BIg portions! Great service. Their nachos are big enough for a meal and with the brewery next door, it cant be beat.

Katie S.

Yelp
We went on a Tuesday at about 5 and it was not very busy. We had skipped lunch and tried quite a few things and everything was amazing! My son and husband has the double shack burgers, my daughter had a coney and I had a chicken teriyaki taco, chorizo taco and fried pickle. We also tried the beer cheese and it was sooooo good. My husband had two beers from the brewery and was a fun of both of them. Overall wonderful experience.

Jenny P.

Yelp
The beer at Buckeye Lake Brewery is fantastic! Unfortunately, the adjacent restaurant is not. We have ordered food on many occasions and have been underwhelmed and disappointed. Customer service is a sticking point. I ordered the Nachos that comes with meat and you can add black beans for $.50. Being a vegetarian, I skipped the meat and asked for black beans instead. I was told I would be charged .50 and it did not matter if I did not get the meat. So my $10.00 nachos had a dollop of black beans with the blandest queso I had ever tasted (how is that possible?), a little bit of lettuce, decent salsa and a generous scoop of sour cream. My husband has ordered burgers and other sandwiches, but it's always been OK and not immensely satisfying.

Brian S.

Yelp
Great food and people. Nice setting near lake. Owner very friendly and gave us some samples. Very impressed
google avatar

Jean T.

Yelp
I just ate at Chef Shack. Attached to the Buckeye Lake Brewery. Wow, What a surprise! The food exceeded our expectations. Very reasonable too. We had the Mahi Mahi sandwich and the Reuben. Ate our meal in the Brewery and had some tasty beer as well. Looking forward to going back soon.
google avatar

Rick T.

Yelp
As if Kevin Gorham wasn't already a Buckeye Lake legend, here he has done it again. For years I took Pizza Cottage for granted because it's always been there...now I am reminded what it was that made PC great with Gorham's newest creation. The food is hands down LEGENDARY! We love this place, and it al washes down so well with a BLB beer.

Brianna F.

Yelp
No one wearing masks working here. During a pandemic. I'd say I like their food normally, but this is unacceptable. Won't be coming back anytime soon.
google avatar

Jeffrey M.

Yelp
The burger was amazing did not expect to eat one of the best burgers I've ever had! The hot dog my wife order was as good as a hot dog can be!

Nicki C.

Yelp
A different type of restaurant. Great experience. Try it out. They have outside dining too.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
The food is delicious! The little young girl at the counter needs to pay more attention. We sat and the cook ended up coming out and asking us if we knew how it worked. When we went up to place our order, the girl couldn't bring herself to look up from her laptop. In between my husband and I ordering, she flipped her screen back open and I didn't know when to start talking to finish the order. She did it to everyone, some guy brought his order back up, and another guy actually said something to her about how rude she was being. She didn't care. That being said, everyone else is so friendly and it's a great atmosphere and the food is phenomenal! Being right there with the brewery, it is awesome! I would've given 5 starts based off of my first to-go visit but the girl's attitude last night was very off-putting. Maybe next time she will notice people sitting, waiting to order, and let them know how it works instead of the cook having to come out.

Bailie S.

Yelp
Best food in Buckeye Lake! Never had a bad experience when eating here. The environment is comfortable and service is quick. There is nothing on their menu that isn't amazing & prices are very reasonable.
