Chengdu Gourmet 2( North Hill)

I visited Chengdu Gourmet 2 on McKnight Rd and had such a great experience! The food is packed with authentic Sichuan flavor and everything we tried was delicious. I ordered the cucumber with fried pepper flavor, Sichuan-style dumplings in red chili oil, Chengdu special noodles, scallion pancakes, and the server even surprised us with a Sichuan chicken dish (which ended up being one of my favorites!). The menu is HUGE, front and back — so be prepared to spend some time choosing, but honestly you can’t go wrong with anything here. The service was friendly and attentive, and I left so full and happy. Definitely recommend Chengdu Gourmet 2 if you’re looking for bold, authentic Chinese cuisine in Pittsburgh!

It is wild that in this unassuming strip mall off of McKnight Road sits a James Beard-nominated Sichuan restaurant. Chengdu Gourmet has multiple menus of offerings, which range from authentic Sichuan to dim sum to homemade noodles to a more American take on Chinese. We both ordered from the authentic menu, and the pork belly dish and my green beans and eggplant vegetarian dish couldn’t have been better. The cucumber salad appetizer we ordered was so fresh and the sauce was delightful. We had wonderful milk and fruit teas (so much real fruit in my tea), and I took a sweet-and-sour chicken from the American Chinese menu to go that lasted the recipient for three meals. Everything is prepared with such care and served really beautifully. They were very focused on making sure every diner had the best possible experience; there was so clearly a great deal of pride in the restaurant and its food. One small thing that isn’t my favorite but may entice other diners, there are live lobster tanks at the back of the restaurant from which I believe you can order fresh lobster. I’m told the chef here is well known in the Sichuan culinary community. I am from the South Hills, opposite the North Hills location of this restaurant, and will happily cross rivers/bridges to visit here again. This place is legit!

We had the best meal at Chengdu Gourmet 2 today! The food was some of the best Chinese food we’ve had the Pittsburgh area! Some our favorite dishes included the pork belly bites, ho fun noodles, and sesame chicken, but we truly enjoyed it all!!! We will be back soon!

I had an excellent experience at Chengdu Gourmet! The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming—spacious, bright, and clean, with live seafood tanks adding a unique touch. The crowd included families, groups of friends, and couples, making it a great spot for any occasion. The service was outstanding. The waiters were friendly, accommodating, and went above and beyond to assist with the menu, helping other tables understand their options. We tried the pork intestines with silk tofu and the spicy whole roasted fish, both of which were flavorful and spicy. The rice was perfectly cooked, fluffy, and sweet, complementing the dishes beautifully. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for those craving authentic Sichuan cuisine. They offer a huge menu that also includes American Chinese, dim sum, and sushi, but the Sichuan dishes are what they’re truly known for. Definitely worth multiple visits!

Ok, it was last Saturday night and they only had 2 service people. So they literally ran. It was our first time to visit that restaurant. And the food was so good! Soooo good! I haven't had great Chinese food for a very long time. I would say this restaurant is very competitive to Chinese restaurants in Chinatown in Philly! The eggplant and potatoes dish is very good! (地三鲜) I was hesitant about ordering that dish because I had a few bad experiences ordering that dish in other restaurants! And it was very unexpectedly good. The potato and eggplants got deep-fried before they stir-fried them. So, the key point of the pepper was making this dish so good because they actually had some smoky flavors. So this dish is very authentic. Basically every dish we ordered was so good! The pickled pepper beef is authentic and the quantity is bigger than I thought. I would recommend this restaurant to my Chinese friends.

This is my Go-To for the Best Chinese in the city. The service is always top notch. All the employees are kind and welcoming. The food is amazing. The Kung Pao Chicken and Pork w/ Flour Sauce are phenomenal! Even the Sushi is delicious. I can’t say enough nice things about this place!

We had an absolutely incredible experience! The staff is some of the nicest and friendliest people ever. They really go out of their way to provide hospitality and great atmosphere! My family and I stopped in for a quick dinner! They were so patient with my kids! We got 2 orders of chicken and broccoli to split and I got a brown sugar bubble tea! Both were completely finished! Definitely will be going back to try a lot of their appetizers! Because they looked so good!!

Great staff great food selection. Plenty of sitting for special events. I got lobsters and fried rice, my friend got crab and stir fried veggies it was delicious

We got here around 11:40am, we were the first customers :) They give you 2 menus - one American food and the other Chinese, make sure you order out of the Chinese menu. We got the following: - beef noodles - Eggplant in Garlic Sauce - Green bean with minced pork - Sichuan styled steamed pork belly with pickled mustard Overall, the foods could use more seasoning.... favorite was the green bean with minced pork. The eggplant was swimming in oil unfortunately. The pork belly was definitely precooked and reheated when ordered, while the meat was tender, some areas of the pork belly's meat was dry. The service was quick, food came out quickly. Typical Chinese restaurant layout, they got a fish tank in the back by the kitchen for your seafood.

I got the cumin lamb and the blend of spices and peppers were just fantastic! Also tried the beef tongue and tripe in chili oil and it was a surprisingly fresh, fun dish. I got a single dish but it seems things were supposed to be served family style, would love to try it how it was intended next time I go. It also has such a deep menu with so many things I want to try.

Sometimes only Chengdu will scratch that Chinese food itch. Place was packed on a Saturday night and we were happy to see them doing so well. Our waiter was such a delight. We ordered a lot of food for just two of us because we had a hard time deciding and we love leftovers for dinner and lunches. He thought it was hilarious. Everything was really delicious. The Happy Family was off the charts good as was the Amazing Green Beans and Eggplant. The Garlic chicken leaned toward the sweet side with a subtle rooster chili undertone. The chicken was sublimely tender. There were lots of shrimp in the rice noodles and a lovely flavor. We love this place. Another solid meal.

Really good food. Not your typical Chinese food. Authentic Sichuan taste. Beef and Changuing chicken was the best. Great service too.

Very average Chinese food. The beef lo mein was good but the general Tso's chicken was not good. Pick up was quick and the online ordering was convenient.

Chengdu consistently serves delicious authentic and Americanized Chinese food They have a different menu for each & every item that I have ever ordered from here has been A+ with quality ingredients. This is now my new Go-To Chinese Takeout place.

Tried out the Szechuan menu for the first time and it was sooo good!! The eggplant in garlic sauce might have looked as you would expect, but it tasted amazing and was super filling. Eggplant can really be hit or miss for me, and this was a hit that lasted me two full meals as well. I was also excited to try the cheese rangoons which were super crispy and satisfying. Definitely recommend adding them to your order as a special treat!

I still don't get the negative reviews. Let me break it down for folks. Yes, there are a three menus. And so yes it might appear overwhelming. But put simply one is basically for sushi. One is more American style Chinese (you know, the boring Americanized ones found at any run of the mill Chinese eatery). And one is the authentic Szechuan province style fare. The third menu is the one you want to order off of if you're looking for something authentic and delicious. This has become our mainstay for Chinese. I've taken many friends here, including out of town friends who, like me, grew up in east Asia. And it has NEVER disappointed. We are treated like family (though dining here regularly, admittedly, contributes to that). The new additions of fresh catch selections (and I mean fresh as in alive in the tanks) is amazing. See fresh pic in this review. Today's steamed catch was amazing. So now you know what to do. Yes the language barrier might be tough, but there's pictures for crying out loud. A kindergartener could order for you. And yes it's more expensive than run of the mill takeout. But you are getting something so much more. There's always plenty of seating, it's always clean, dishes always come out promptly, and the staff is always attentive. I just don't see how you can go wrong. And if you're not sure what to order, see dishes below!

Floors and windows were not clean. There was a flying insect in my husband's water. The waiter took the cup away and brought back the same cup. My order was incorrect. Scallops were like rubber. We will not return.

This Chinese restaurant has HUGE menus, and it appears (I am not Chinese) to serve many authentic foods. Many, many options are available for appetizers, soups, dim sum, beef, chicken, lamb, pork, seafood, vegetables, rice, noodles, sushi, etcetera. Prices are reasonable for the quality. On a Saturday afternoon, my husband and I ate lunch at this restaurant. Right after we walked through the entrance, an employee smiled and said hello. Another employee immediately asked us if we wanted a table or booth. We chose a table, which was clean and comfortable but for some reason showed text and images about London and the Eiffel Tower. Our servers were very friendly and timely. My husband and I took several minutes to look through the many pages of the menus. We saw foods such as frog and pork intestine but also many other foods that appeal more to American tastebuds. Here are our reviews for our foods and beverage: Cheese rangoon - 5 stars - Several rangoons had a crispy exterior and a flavorful cheesy filling. Salmon avocado sushi roll - 4.5 stars - This sushi was fresh and tasted good. Shrimp with broccoli and honey walnuts - 4 stars - Several large shrimps were large and juicy and were covered in a crispy breading. The broccoli was fresh. The walnuts were large. The honey sauce tasted decent. Amazing crispy chicken - 4.5 stars - My husband ordered this entree, and he requested no spiciness. The chicken meat was juicy, and the breading was crispy. Fresh broccoli and pineapple chunks were also included. Passion fruit tea - 5 stars - This beverage had a pleasantly sweet flavor.

Today we decided to go for a take out. The person taking the order wasn't helpful but was persistent in taking the order. After placing the order, they charged a tip of 20% for a take out which I picked in the store. Who gives them the right to do such unethical business. Wouldn't go there again.

Excellent service every visit! Great location to celebrate a birthday or event. Plenty of room for friends & family! On our most recent visit, my niece wanted Orange and Sesame Chicken, the kitchen did an excellent job adding some sesame seeds to the orange chicken dish to accommodate her request. We like the new fish tank in the dining room where you can select a fresh catch of the day. The music selection and atmosphere are always calming and service is quick. Our favorite dishes are the Orange Chicken, Chicken Roll and Shredded Beef w. Small Pepper. Every visit has been enjoyable and satisfying. Keep up the good work!

When Chengdu 2 first opened, my experience was not all that great. Food portions were small, service was awful, and several dishes were overcooked. Walked out quite disappointed and crossed them off my list. Fast forward to a few months later to today, I decided that maybe I should give them another try, hoping that all the initial knicks were worked out. Word has it, there was a change in the staffing that included the cooks. Wow, a complete surprise! We ordered the pork belly appetizer, spicy glass noodles, salt n pepper crabs, spicy beef tendons, flaming pans of frog legs and also lamb. Every single dish was on point and full of taste and just the right amount of spice. Portions were also sized appropriately as well. Guess what? The server was engaged, actually provided good service and very friendly. Thumbs up and now added on my rotation list! Kudos to the management for positive changes. Recommend this location over their original location in Squirrel Hill.

I'm trying a new diet and I'm being suggested to eat tofu. We've loved our recent dishes mostly traditional Chinese. Since I went to the website to order I saw someone give rave reviews of the shredded pork and tofu. I figured I'll try that combination. We were extremely pleasantly surprised by how well it was prepared. One of the best Chinese dishes I've ever had. Also , I ordered for pick up and got there when it said, and it was ready and was in and out in seconds.

I am so happy I found a Chinese restaurant where I can get authentic cuisine. They give you three menus with a HUGE variety of dishes: Chinese American, traditional Chinese (mostly Sichuan cuisine), and sushi. They also have a few dimsum options. I ordered many things to share with my family, who I wanted to expose to Chinese dishes they haven't tried before. Everything tasted amazing and came in large portions! I highly recommend my list below. Spicy chicken feet: one of my favorite dimsum dishes. These were SPICY, but I loved the flavor and texture of these. Beef ho fun: A go-to order of mine. Wide, slightly chewy rice noodles with bean sprouts, onions, and tender slices of beef. Stir fried green beans: Another go-to order of mine. These are salty, savory, garlicky, and have a perfectly charred texture. Xiao long bao: these were homemade and DELICIOUS. I would've ordered more if I wasn't full. Chinese sausage fried rice: a safe choice for the table. Shu mai: I think this was fish shu mai, which tastes like a fish cake dumpling. Our service was fantastic. The chicken feet were too spicy for my grandpa, so we were given that dish for free. He ordered shrimp lo mein to replace it and he loved that. The venue itself is spacious and very clean. It is mostly quiet apart from the occasionally live piano, courtesy of the staff's children. I must stop here again the next time I'm in Pittsburgh!

One of the most extraordinary restaurants in the area. Really authentic Szechuan cuisine prepared by a creative and talented chef. If you are not interested in spicy, go somewhere else, but I will tell you that this is the food I am craving. The food has lots of bold flavor, but never overwhelmingly spicy. There are 2 menus. I recommend you choose the Chinese menu. It's also in English, but it's going to have the best dishes that they offer. I also recommend that you go with a group. The portions are all large, but that's because you are meant to order for the whole table. The dining room is more spacious, and they have lots of tables with the lazy susan in the middle, so you can more easily share the dishes. Tables are well spaced. There were some items on the menu, for example Bubble Tea, which are not available, but hang on, they will be here soon. The decor is a little stark, but this kind of dining should always be about the food, and that's where Chengdu excels. Our wait person was very enthusiastic and helpful. Our food came out quickly. We absolutely loved everything!

This place is fantastic. It has never disappointed when ordering off the authentic Szechuan menu. The staff here are incredibly friendly and i can assure you that almost anything you need from a chinese restaurant can be fulfilled here. It's rare to find a place in this area that delivers such authenticity. It is certainly worth the visit.

Can the sequel be better than the original? Well if you are Chengdu Gourmet 2 then the answer is yes. I have been to the first Chengdu Gourmet in the Squirrel Hill area and this newer location is by all means better. For starters parking is easy and abundant. The restaurant is much larger, brighter and the air conditioner works amazingly. I want to say the menu seems larger (I could be wrong) but the choices just seem brighter. I love all their noodle dishes and their fried rice. I always get something spicy and a vegetable dish and have always been pleased. Prices are good for what you get and this location has very good service. All and all a solid place to get my noodle fix, Aloha

We had been watching the space and were hoping it would open and it finally did. I was so happy when I drove by and saw the lights on and tables. We knew we had to go immediately to check it out. I had heard the original was one of the best Chinese Restaurants if not the best in Pittsburgh. We wanted to see for ourselves, So glad that we did. They did a great job renovating the old Oriental Market Space. You would never know it was previously a market and not a restaurant. It's a nice big open space with beautiful decor. It's bright and clean. Love the lanterns! The staff was really friendly and really tried to make you feel welcome, which was very nice. They brought you the giant menus and water. The menus were a bit confusing because there were multiple and they had so much in them. We struggled on what to order. We decided to go with things that we knew which were good and also tried some new things that looked interesting. I love pineapple fried rice so I decided to try theirs. I liked mine with chicken. My mom liked the shrimp and scallops in hers but not the calamari. My husband liked his spicy chicken because as he and my godson described it as a slow burn. Haha My godson liked his general Tso chicken. We all really liked the xiao bao or soup dumplings. They were really good apart from sticking to the paper which lost some of the soup. We also liked the steamed chicken dumplings. Definitely give them a try. So good!

We took our granddaughter to lunch. She loves Chinese. She got the poke bowel. She said was very good. I had the best soup. Service was good and prices were reasonable

You are responsible for cancelling orders you cannot fulfil. Do not put that on the heads of the food delivery people who have nothing to do with your lack of supplies. if you cannot fulfil an order, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTY to contact both the customer AND the company that sends you the drivers. Your attitude towards the delivery drivers is also horrendous.

Absolute favorite Chinese restaurant. It is more authentic than the Americanized types of Chinese food. The spicy cold noodles is my absolute favorite dish there! And they have soup dumplings and Thai iced tea. And sushi. Literally everything I want! The staff explain anything if you are not sure of what something is. Made it easy for me try something new Go here try the food!

This is an incredible Chinese restaurant. Everything you love about this cuisine with superior preparation and execution. It's almost on par with Wonderful in Millbrae, CA which has a Michelin star. Every ingredient shines through. They're underpriced for the quality and the service was excellent. Don't sleep on this place.

Wow! I'm so happy they opened a second location in the north hills. I arrived with a large party of 15 and was worried that there's so many of us that the kitchen and service staff would not be able to handle it and boy was I wrong. Everything came out fast and perfect. Service was wonderful. Food was amazing as always

This place is super legit! We're from the Bay Area and so our bar for good Chinese food is pretty high. We got the beef Chow fun and a chicken dish, both were really tasty, not over battered and the beef was tender. They also had true Chengdu options, like pork blood, chicken feet etc. They had great service as well and she was very attentive. We'll def come back when we're in Pittsburgh.

We've been talking about it for months and we finally made it to Chengdu Gourmet 2! A couple years ago we went to the original Chengdu and got take out during COVID and we loved it! It was great to be able to go in person and have the food a little more fresh! We were famished so we ordered way lore food than we normally do--scallion pancakes, soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, a pepper beef rib dish and an enormous bowl of beef noodle soup (it was so big! We didn't know it would be when we ordered it) Everything tasted great and filled our tummies. The noodles in the beef soup were over done unfortunately so they were a little unappetizing and the broth was not as flavorful as I hoped it would be though. Our server was attentive and very friendly. The menu was overwhelming with how many items were on it. It took us forever to figure out what we wanted. The restaurant was very clean with lots of nice paintings around. There was also a grand piano and we were hoping for some live music but no such luck. Haha! Overall good experience.

The menu is full of options and the food is always super quality. I just struggled to get served even 5 minutes into open with just 3 other tables being used. I waited 15 minutes from closing my menu to order and 15 with my card out to get my check. Ordered the Braised pork intestine noodle soup along with extra spicy lamb in flaming hot pot. The szechuan peppercorns came through nicely.

Food is amazing with homemade dumplings . Service was outstanding with helping to explain the menu and all of the freshly made dumpling choices.

Date night this week was to Chengdu Gourmet 2. I've been excited to eat here ever since I learned it was coming in to replace the Oriental Market that I used to frequent in this same spot. Having tried the original location in Squirrel Hill already, I knew I was in for a treat. The wife and I shared the braised beef noodles, a scallion pancake, black pepper cowboy steak, and then an order of soup dumplings. It was a lot of food which we gratefully took home leftovers for, and gratefully everything was great just like I remembered. The food is fresh, the portions are large, and staff were friendly. Looking forward to coming here again.

My girlfriend and I stopped over here for lunch. I had heard so many good thing about it that I was anxious to try it. The restaurant is very spacious. All the employees were wearing masks for CoVid. Masks are not required for patrons. We had 3 menus to choose from. One was their authentic Chinese, one was their American Chinese, and the third small one was for sushi's and stuff. We decided to order off the lunch menu since that was discounted. The lunch entrée entitles you to a side of white rice. There is $1.00 add on charge for fried rice. We decided to splurge and get the won ton soup and spring rolls to go with it. Your silverware is in a bin at your table. They have wooden style chopsticks over your empty dish. My friend ordered the cashew shrimp while I ordered the broccoli shrimp. We each got Chinese bottled ice tea. It was very good. Not overly sweet. We didn't have to wait too long when our waitress brought out our entire order. The won ton soup was good although I found myself having to cut it with a knife and fork. The spring rolls were very small for the two we had ordered. They were good however, had we known they would be that small then I would have ordered two. Both shrimp dishes were delicious and you do get nice size shrimp to go with your vegetable assortment. Once again I found myself trying to cut the broccoli but a table knife just didn't seem to work. I managed to do my best with it. Both lunches had a bit of a spicy "kick" to it but not overwhelming. We were only disappointed by the fact that our main courses started to get cold while we were eating the soup. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Take out is available. You can order either online or at your table where they have paper copies of the all the menus. You get boxed fortune cookies with your check. I was glad that I finally had the opportunity to try out this place after hearing so much about it. Needless to say except for the fact they bring out your entire meal at once we were quite pleased with our visit. Since this restaurant is located in a strip mall on McKnight Rd getting in can be problematic especially if you are headed southbound. Northbound you literally have to go to the far end of the strip mall and make a right U turn into the complex in order to park. Still it was definitely worth a visit and we will be back next time we are in the North Hills area.

A wonderful sister restaurant to the famed Chegdu in Squirrel Hill. The restaurant itself is huge with lots of seating for big groups, perfect for your next gathering. The menu is big, bigger than the original restaurant and I'm here for it. This was my first visit to the new location and my friend and I ordered some past favorites and a few new things. The Sichuan style dumplings are delicious- a good combination of sweet and spicy . The Chongqing Chicken, is deep fried chicken goodness and perfect for all you spice heads (I know the draw, I am one too) . Our third dish was cumin lamb which was wonderfully juicy and aromatic. The service is catching up slowly, just like everywhere else in the world and our server was wonderful. They do not have any of the drinks on the menu yet or atleast as of early Sept 2022 and hopefully that will be remedied soon, cause I can eat more of the spice if I have a cool drink to douse the fire with. Highly recommend!

Delish! I've lived in the area for six years but never tried or maybe even noticed Chengdu Gourmet. Thankfully an acquaintance recommended it and I'm so glad! Haven't dined in yet but delivery is great.

Update - Couldn't stop thinking about Chengdu 2, so I got takeout! Mao pork belly and amazing green beans with eggplant! Both packed full of flavor. The pork belly had some kick and was very tender. The green beans and eggplant were very rich. LOVE!!

Food ranges from very authentic Sichuan to sushi to fairly Americanized fare. Chengdu-style chicken was spicy and delish. Waitress very friendly.

Chengdu Gourmet is a highly acclaimed Chinese restaurant with its original location being in Squirrel Hill. It's great to have a location that's much closer to me in North Hills. I decided to try some new items, so today's order consisted of BBQ pork buns (2 pieces) and ho fun wild noodles with chicken. Since I've never had ho fun, I didn't know what to expect. I read they are somewhat similar to pad see ew, and can confirm they are pretty similar. But, the menu online offers virtually not description of the items. I didn't know what vegetables were included, if there is a spice level, etc. In my order notes, I clearly marked NO GREEN ONION AND NO ONION. But, as you can see from the photo, this dish is full of onions. And large chunks of them at that. Even if you are a fan of onions (which I am definitely not), you'll probably be overwhelmed by their flavor. They really need to pay attention to the order notes. With that said, the dish itself was not bad. The noodles had a fair amount of flavor and char to them. They were a good texture, nice and chewy. There aren't many vegetables in the dish, and it's somewhat oily. Chicken portion is good, and they are fairly generous with their noodle portions. The real star of the meal was the pork bun. Wow, these were quite good. The filling was truly exquisite. Sweet, amazing texture, flavorful, and not overly expensive. I do wish the portion of filling was a bit bigger. But, even the outside bun had a nice hint of sweetness and it's quite fluffy. They, like nearly every Chinese place, will also give you a few extras with your order. I received a complimentary soy sauce packet (just one though) and a fortune cookie, both appreciated. All in all, I can't say how this place compares to the Squirrel Hill location. But, it's pretty good and has potential to be amazing. Their dim sum is on point, but a bit pricey for the portion. My noodle dish would have been great if they just followed my order notes or notified me that they can't omit the onion. Beware that ho fun is high in onion (even if you like onions).

The food was so good w/ large portions , authentic as you can get & the service was really good. The hot tea was nasty no biggie tho. I will be going back soon w/ my family of 6.

Whoa! Wow! Oh my! Incredible! If you've been to the original, prepare yourself for an even better sequel. Chengdu 2 exceeds the amazingness of Chengdu 1! I'm hoping for a trilogy!

We ordered beef lo mein , beef pad thai and general tso shrimp. Both the beef dishes were very poor. The beef was tender but the noodles in both dishes were over cooked. There was absolutely no sauce. It was incredibly dry with no taste except for salt. The shrimp dish had an off taste to it and could not be eaten. In addition, one order of cold sesame noodles was ordered. There was some type of sweet sugar mixed into the noodles. Whatever this was , it was very gritty and not able to be eaten. If I could give this a zero rating I would. Save your money, don't go there.

Menu was so huge it was overwhelming. We were handed 4 books with menus. One was sushi which we put aside and the other alcoholic drinks that we put aside. The other two were menus and it was confusing. The food was good but I think she got pissed when we only ordered one meal to share.

We went for a birthday dinner and had such a good time. Our waiter was friendly and helpful with our meal selections. We needed help because so many choices were were on the menu(s). Three separate menus to be exact! The food was outstanding. We tried some new items and some old, all delicious. After dinner we had steamed custard buns! We will be back. Often.

Excellent dinner tonight. Reservations are recommended. It was packed tonight, maybe due to most restaurants being closed for the holidays. We had a party of 4 in front of us and several groups behind us. They wrote down our names and apologized about the wait. My youngest always eats the scallion pancakes. The stir fried green beans are delicious and not spicy. The crispy fried fish with peppers was also good. It had a little bit of heat for spice and wasn't oily. The cumin lamb was also a nice break from the more spicier dishes. We got the shrimp with chives special of the day. It had these small shrimp that were soft shelled, heads on and really crispy and flavorful. The chicken on the daily special was also really good and quite spicy. Service was great. There was even live music tho I think it was a kid practicing their Christmas music on the piano. I told my daughter she should go up there and play some duets. Great dinner!

The service was very rushed and nothing was made to order. They also have about 4-5 menus and it's a bit overwhelming. When the food came out it all arrived at once within about 2 minutes. The food was not warm and more spice heat than actual flavor. The inside was clean but the lighting was very bright. Giving two stars because a one would be harsh but it wasn't a great experience.

Everything is good but serve slow,real authentic Chinese food;need more beef or chicken options

I had many issues with this restaurant: - The seats are very uncomfortable. The chairs curve inward with siding and you are forced into sitting a specific way. - They give you three menus at your table. One of them has mostly sushi and eggroll dishes. Another menu is huge and just has some pictures, Chinese writing and the English names of the food. And the third menu just is the menu in writing with no descriptions. It's extremely confusing and it's really hard to find specific things. I have never seen anything like this before. - The staff isn't good. Any time you go to an ethnic restaurant, you know there's a good chance the staff is not going to be fluent in English and that's the case here. It also really felt like some of the larger groups with people who could speak Chinese got preferential treatment. - As usual with Chinese sit down restaurants, the food is a lot more expensive than the ingredients. Rice and noodles are not expensive ingredients but every dish here is going to be in the neighborhood of $13+. If you some sides with it, it would be worth it. But everything is basically ala carte here and you get nothing. Even the Coke felt like a rip off at $3.50 a glass. - I got the General Tso's Chicken. It's actually not on the menu even though they know what it is and will serve you it. Did they forget to put it on the three menu's? Do they actually just sell General Tso's Tofu and Shrimp but not Chicken? Who knows. The chicken was clearly frozen and reheated. It was hard and it's more on the sweet side with a more orange color instead of being sweet and spicy with a darker red color. It was not good at all. - I also got the chicken fried rice, which was good and I had some of my mom's lo mein, which I also thought was good. The lo mein did not have much chicken in it. I will not be coming back here. It's expensive, the staff isn't good, the seats were uncomfortable and the chicken was re-heated. Jimmy Wan's and Rice King are much better options.

Excellent, we order here all of the time, as I work nearby Cheng Du Gourmet. I can walk to go get it. We have a ton of choices for Asian food in Squirrel Hill, and I assure you that this one is the best!! Food is fresh and presented so well, very tasty - We have never been disappointed. And it's reasonably priced, which is huge considering most places are getting crazy high prices for less quality food! Chengdu has quality food, you should not be disappointed.

Food was delicious, but we were clueless on how to order , no description on the menu of the food , u really need previous Chinese experience, we did ok on ordering

I've tried both spots and they are both great. The service was excellent, and the ambiance of the establishment was very well put together. The food was amazing, and I will definitely return
