Philly’s Best Chinese Restaurants | Eater Philly

"One of Philly’s few remaining vestiges of Kosher vegan and vegetarian Chinese food, Su Xing House stands tall in Rittenhouse when other stalwarts like New Harmony and Cherry Street have shuttered their doors. Delight in all the different preparations of mushrooms (braised, sauced, in hot pots) and anything involving taro, and go big with Under the Sea, a glorious fried whole “fish” covered in a sweet and tangy sauce. Founders Nancy Lin and Yi Wu sold the restaurant to a friend in 2018 and their kids opened Unit Su Vege, another great spot for Kosher vegetarian Chinese cuisine by the Art Museum." - Diana Lu

The Art Museum Neighborhood Gains a Vegetarian Chinese Restaurant | Eater Philly

"I know the family behind Su Xing House, a long-running vegetarian Chinese restaurant on Sansom Street in Center City: Nancy Lin and Yi Wu emigrated from Fujian 20 years ago, started with Chinese takeout, and opened Su Xing House twelve years ago because Lin wanted a vegetarian restaurant; Yi studied vegetarian Chinese cooking by reading cookbooks and experimenting. They sold the restaurant in 2018." - Rachel Vigoda

Really nice place for hanging out with family and friends. The quality of food is fabulous. I can tell the professionalism of the Chef from every single dish. All the ingredients are also very fresh, and again, with high quality. We enjoyed our time here.

I've dined here several times and absolutely love the food. It truly captures the authentic flavors of Northeastern Chinese (东北菜) cuisine. I've brought a few friends from that region in China, and they were genuinely impressed and excited by how true the taste is to home. The prices are very reasonable, and finding such authentic Northeastern Chinese food in Philly was a real surprise!!! Highly recommended!!

Great and authentic Northeast Chinese cuisine. The restaurant also offers Szechuan style food and vegetarian options. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area!

This place was good, seated fast on a Saturday night which was nice. Big vegetarian section on menu. Everything was good and really satisfying to eat, better than your local take out Chinese but not fancy, just perfect mix for food before going out for drinks in the area. Great vibe and cute seating up the stairs and cute window booths over looking the street.

If we had just gone here the first time it would have been our second favorite szechuan place in the states. The first time we went here was one of the best szechuan dishes we ever had while the second was pretty forgettable. One of the staff barly talked to us while the other was super attentive with great recommendations. I think the first one was the tofu dry pot which was huge, had great szechuan rich broth and savory tofu. Even with my wife and I starving it still filled us up and and we needed a to go container. The second we got was the general tso Seiten. With it being recommended by the staff and menu i hoped it was going to be better but I was a bit disappointed. It was mostly breading with a little bit of seitan I'm the center that didn't have much texture or flavor. That being said, the first dish was so good that I still recommend this place.

Very authentic Chinese food. They just hired a new chef and he takes the restaurant to the next level lol. We ordered crispy pork with sweet and sour sauce, sauerkraut, and general Tao’s chicken. I have to say it is the best Chinese restaurant I have had for years in Philly!

Very delicious chinese food. There are so many options we hat trouble to decide what to order. The portions are big so we took the leftovers home. The homemade sweet ice tea isn't sweet.

Huge variety of menu choices, with a ton of vegan options and newly added meat options. The food was overall very delicious, with my favorite dishes being the mala cauliflower and the sesame seitan which meat eaters in my party said were indiscernible from sesame chicken. The sumai was really good but a bit frozen in the middle due to not being steamed for long enough
