Changing my 5 star to 2:
POOL:
My roommate and I moved in June 2018. We were told the pool would be opened the following week, then the next, and so on. The pool never opened last year with claims that it leaks.
This year: They said it will open and hiring a contractor to work on pool as soon as it stops snowing. When spring hit, I asked about the pool and they said it isnt being opened again this year because the contractor came late and then never returned.
LANDSCAPE:
About three months ago, mulch was put down along our building on the sides of front doors. We have 6 units in our building. I stopped in the clubhouse last month and asked the new manager, Derek if he is aware there was still about 6 large lumps of mulch untouched. They look about 6" high and 2 ft. wide. He said he knew but that the landscape company never came back. Here it is another month later and the large piles are still present.
PARKING LOT:
When we were being shown the townhome, we were told that the mini parking lot that goes up a small incline off to the left (right of our building) is used for my building. There are 9 spaces. There is a building to the right of the lot with about a dozen units and like 13 parking spaces in front of it. When we moved in, we discovered that this lot is opened to both buildings. It is mainly occupied by residents from the unit to the right which means that if the lot is full from the other building, then everyone from my building needs to walk about 150-500 ft up/down the hill to our parking spaces. When I complained they said there is no assigned parking spaces. Now, I am currently an exception with a temp. handicap space due to hip surgery but not the point.
I have talked with neighbors in my building who were told the same about the lot nearest to our building that it would be for our building. The irony, there is a St. Louis County Police Officer who lives at the adjacent building and parks his 2 vehicles in the mini lot and lately, he has had his police vehicle parked up there as well. Must be nice. Many of us have complained but it seems to go unresolved.
BROWN RECLUSE:
For over a year now, including the cold winter, we have been dealing with a Brown Recluse infestation. The apartment has been sprayed every month but apparently has no effect on them. We have had anywhere from the size of a dime to half-dollars! They put glue traps down but unless the traps are hanging from the walls and ceilings and it isnt doing any good. Every time, we find another, I take a picture of it and the smashed pieces of the wall/ceiling and email it to the office staff.
I was just there again yesterday and asked to be put on the exterminator list again. Derek gave me a sassy comment about how they have not received any other reports from other residents. I looked at him like, and this is my fault how? He said they would be under the boards. So, am I to pull up the carpet and check the wood? Maybe they need to do this.
Last night, I looked up at the ceiling just above the ceiling fan blades and there was a Brown Recluse size of a quarter around 11PM. I snapped photos and of the remains on the ceiling from my shoe and emailed the office. In the email, I asked if they could check the records of the tenants before us.
Well, I stopped in today and ask if he got my email. He said yes. I asked about former residents and he said it wasnt time sensitive and might get to it tomorrow or this week. He seemed nice and great in the beginning but his relaxed attitude of everything at the property has gone down hill fast! Over the winter, I was bit by a brown recluse while sleeping. It tore a small hole in between two toes. I showed pictures to the manager before Derek. Ashley was transferred to another property but one; she had so much empathy and she got things done. Derek seems to procrastinate.
Whenever, outside contractors come and blow leaves or powerwash, all of the doors to the units are covered with debris and anyone with welcome mats, they are blown off to the side. We usually complain and the maintenance staff fixes.
As far as the rest of the office staff. Molly is the new assistant manager but seems fair. We just lost Rachel to another location who was great. The maintenance staff is awesome and very friendly.
We renewed our lease thinking things would change but so far, my 5 stars has now changed to 2, maybe a 3.
In my life, I have been bit 2x by a brown recluse. The first was in the woods. But,the hole in my toe was a painful healing process.
