Okay, so Cherubs is cozy, quaint and really... unique. But, it also smells like 'grandma's attic', which I muttered under my breath to my ice cream-aficionado companion. Actually-- and this sounds terrible-- I hoped that he would change his mind once he saw the rather limited array of ice cream flavors but we stayed.
And the smell dissipated. Or rather, I acclimated.
And I'm glad that happened, because visiting Cherubs is truly an experience. Upon closer inspection, you'll notice it actually LOOKS like grandma's attic, too. Strange furnishings. Old sofas. Random knickknacks strewn about. Is it a fountain, a tower? No matter, there's no rhyme or reason to this stroll down hodgepodgery lane. But it's interesting, I'll give it that.
The owner (at least I think she was the owner) was very kind and accommodating, waiting patiently as we dawdled over the menu. They make shakes, smoothies, and sandwiches in addition to scooping ice cream. I went with one scoop of vanilla topped with strawberries and whipped cream. The ice cream hit the spot-- nice and smooth but take note: the whipped cream comes from a can. I think my friend hit a few ice chunk speed bumps in his hills of his butter pecan, but otherwise seemed content with his choice.
Cherubs offers free wi-fi and I imagine it's a great place to get a ton of work done or laze with your favorite book. You've got to see it to believe it!
